We hit this spot twice for breakfast on our recent visit to Islamorada. And I'm glad we did! So let's get into it, shall we? First off, the Inn gets busy on weekdays so expect a wait. The first time, we were lucky and grabbed two spots at the bar. The next day ... a Sunday ... we had about a 30-minute wait. They take your cell phone number so you can wander around the shop next door. Or you can grab a bloody at the bar, and sit at one of the tables outside while you wait. Service both times was efficient and polite. Not a lot of small talk but the place was hopping. Everything we tried was delicious. I had the breakfast burrito which was delightful. My husband had their 2-2-2 special, two eggs, two bacon, two sausage and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The special came with freshly squeezed OJ and YUM. The next day we had pancakes with bananas and strawberries and the French toast. Again, the meal was absolutely delicious. We only had breakfast there but I've heard great things about lunch and dinner. Hey, if it's good enough for Guy's Triple D ... you know it has to be good. As one of my friends said, "For a place in the keys without a view ... you know the food has to be great to keep people coming back." Decor is cute but could use some updating. I had to take a moment to acknowledge the subtle yet refreshing change at the Green Turtle . . . As a lifelong Floridian, a quick jaunt to the Keys is always a relaxing escape from the rat race of Miami. It had been a minute (ie almost a year), since our last visit. Upon walking in we were greeted by the hostess who sat our family of four at a table which appeared to be a 2-top with 4 seats. We were quickly met by, Jeff, who recognized we needed more space with our 2 teenage boys and moved us to a larger table. Khalila, swept in and introduced herself and quickly took our drink order (may I suggest the "Freshie"), along with the most beautiful large peel & eat Key West pinks to start! I honestly could not decide which was better the delicate seared Mahi in a key lime butter-caper sauce or the decadent filet w/bernaise which was cooked to perfection. Jeff, swung by the table to check on us and we discovered he's the new GM, and I might add with an eye for detail and we all know . . . "It's all in the details"! I rarely take the time to write a review but between the impeccable service from Miss Khalila and the host with the most Jeff it was the icing on the cake to an exceptional experience! Heard about this place on Triple D and decided to check it out for myself. It's a great comfort place that has a great relaxed and laid back atmosphere. The lobster mac & cheese had a rich cheese sauce but the pasta itself was lacking in seasoning. If you're a cheese fan, this is the plate for you. The fish sandwich was tremendously tender, full of flavor, nice and light but wish it came with more tartar sauce. Bread pudding was warm and delicious, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream that made it over the top. Everything tasted great and had great service! read more

As a Bloodline junkie and a Triple D junkie I had to Mark this one off the list. Stopped here for lunch and wasn't disappointed. My wife and I got the fish dip, turtle chowder and the bacon wrapped meatloaf love sandwich. The fish dip was a little different because it was served with pickled onions and capers. They actually elevated it a little. We really enjoyed it. The turtle chowder was amazing. I could have eaten a gallon of it even if it was 196 degrees outside. The meatloaf sandwich was awesome. I love meatloaf and a good leftover sandwich and this one is fantastic. Really cool spot with a great staff. Will definitely return next time I'm in the Keys. read more

Best service! Best Shrimp and Grits I've ever had! Big enough to share. It was hot, seasoned to perfection and lots of large fresh shrimp. The flavor was robust and wonderful! A must stop but plan on it being pricey but well worth the money! We had a nice dinner at the Green Turtle Inn. We sat in the back porch room because the hostess said the outdoor patio wasn't set up. However, it wasn't long until we saw diners out there? Never figured that out. Live piano player and leaf blower did make for a challenging conversation at the table. Awesome little joint!! I felt like our server was an old pal by the end of the meal. I had the lox platter and it HIT THE SPOT!! My Mom's patty melt had me drooling with the smell when it came out, but I think the star of the show was the corned beef hash. This did not come out of a can, beef made separate and shredded on top. We used Catering at Green Turtle Inn for our wedding reception at Dream Bay Resort on Key Largo, FL and they surpassed every expectation! Jennifer W. was incredibly easy to work with and beyond accommodating. After researching several vendors, we were impressed with their affordable prices and diverse menu options. We chose their Key's inspired menu which included conch fritters (the crowd favorite) and stuffed mushrooms for the hors d'oeuvres and jerk chicken and snapper for the main course with jasmine quinoa rice, salad and rolls. Finally for dessert, mini key lime pies. As a native Floridan who's favorite fish is snapper, I was blown away by how perfectly cooked and seasoned it was. Wow! This is one of the best restaurants we have been to in the keys. I had shrimp & grits and my wife had the Mahi tacos special. We also had the truffle tots and collard greens. We were at the Turtle today for lunch at the bar which has 12 seats 9 of which were filled. Ordered 2 beers, a burger and a fish sandwich @ 1:15 pm it arrived at 2:05- and to top it off both orders were wrong... Bartender did not even say sorry kitchen is backed up...Many other customers were also looking around for their food as well. Not our first time here- but will be our last. I'm sorry to say that on our first night of vacation in beautiful Islamorada we called and made a reservation at Green Turtle Inn for 6pm for dinner. I told them on the phone that we had two service dogs. The person on the phone asked if they were emotional support dogs. I told her, no, they are service dogs. So we arrived and went into the mostly empty restaurant and the hostess led us to the back. She wanted to seat us on the back porch while the restaurant was empty. When we balked at the back porch seats she explained "I have all these reservations." For the empty restaurant. "My daughter has a service dog." "We can't have the dogs blocking the floor." I explained that our service dogs are trained and they go under the table. "Oh I can seat you at this tiny table next to the front door". In your empty restaurant. We left. So I can't review the food we were looking forward to. We went 2 blocks down the street to Islamorada Fish Company where there is no issue with service dogs. read more
