Bartenders very pushy and annoying, always pressing you to buy more alcohol. Don't tell me how to spend my money! This place really went downhill after they opened. Lots of TVs for sports, shuffleboard, happy hour 7 days a week which includes $1 oysters, $2-3 off drafts, $3 tacos, $6 cocktails, and $5 wine by the glass. Love the patio area where you can people watch. Overall, good spot to chill. read more

Not much to say about this place except that their lemon pepper wings are my favorite. Their happy hour is a great deal for after work hangouts but be advised the crowd after work loves this place too. service is usually never a problem and the apps and drinks are great and well made. Went to the Greene Hook Bar & Kitchen to send off an old work colleague who was leaving for greener pastures. The seating in this place is awesome, with an outdoor area that opens up from the restaurant/bar making the entire place open and airy. The decor is rustic woods. Greene Hook offers a decent (but not overly large) draft selection and a fairly decent menu. The food itself kind of varies with my final opinion on they need to work a little more on function over form (looks great, tastes ok currently). The service was fairly decent. Being on Greene St. close to Exchange, you can expect to shell out city prices for drinks/food here. There are other places in the area I'd recommend over Greene Hook and while it's a pleasant enough place, there isn't anything that particularly stands out (good or bad). I stopped here for a quick drink and a bite with friends. They had a nice selection of drafts, bottles, and wines. I had the roasted portabella and it was to die! My boyfriend had the shrimp po boy and our friends had the sloppy Joe fries which were also super good! I believe they have happy hour specials from 3-6 but we were there around 7pm so I'm not sure what the deal is. Been here a couple of times recently. Both times after work hours and catching drinks and dinner with friends. Great new hangout spot. Short rib burger is scrumptious. Every time I go to this place I am reminded why I don't frequent this place. The service is absolutely horrible, it takes forever to get drinks (and then the wrong one came out), appetizer came at the same the same time as my boyfriends entree with my entree no where in sight. We decided to just pay and leave at this point (paid first) and someone who I guess was the manager asked why we were leaving, and five seconds into my explanation just walked away. The food is mediocre when you actually do get it, so definitely not worth the aggravating service. read more

Ate dinner here last night and there was a mouse running around the restaurant and under our table. Paid for a $100 bill, the waiter and manager didn't offer to comp anything. The manager was very nonchalant about the whole situation and bought us a drink on our way out. Completely unsanitary to have a mouse running around under tables and completely unprofessional to not offer to pay for the dinner. We used to love this restaurant, but will now not recommend it to friends and will not be returning. read more

We were able to eat here on our last trip back home. We live in Colorado now and are always looking for great food when we are back east. Greene Hook did not disappoint! The staff are extremely knowledgeable and give wonderful recommendations, the chef is beyond accommodating, and the drinks are phenomenal. I really want to like this place, but I just can't. The interior is beautiful. But the wine list and menu really need to be worked on. There is a terrible wine selection (overpriced and poor quality wine) and the menu is very random. Cocktail/ beer / bourbon list is fine. I was really excited about trying this new place out. Hugely disappointed. I don't think there is a single thing that is done well apart from the attentive wait staff. The menu has no general direction; just an assortment of not so exciting dishes. I tried that rigatoni which is ok. My friend was not a fan of bland wings and waffles. The drinks and food were good but the bartenders were super unfriendly working at the bar. Waited 15 mins to get my drink and we had to call the bartenders over a few times before we got served. This happen in the afternoon before happy hour. it wasn't busy. I notice the bartenders seem super friendly to the construction workers and they didn't need to wait for their drinks like we did. Greene Hook is the new kid on the block. It has a great feel casual and professional mingled together. Tonight I indulged in the Tilefish. It was surrounded by spinach with clams and potatoes. It was excellent. The bar was buzzing . My goal is to try everything on the menu. Great location by exchange place. This will be my go to place. Was very excited to try this place. Placed a pick up order for the chicken bucket for 2. We were digging in when my husband stopped and said, "uh oh." One of the chicken pieces was not fully cooked. I thought my husband was exaggerating, but when he showed me, it was sure enough raw in the middle. Two of the biscuits were really soft and mushy in the middle. When I took a close look, I realized the dough was uncooked/raw in the center. I emailed the restaurant to let them know of my experience and I never heard back from them. Was totally disappointed that no one reached out to me and I paid a good amount of money for raw, inedible food. So disappointed and will definitely not be returning. read more

Shocked ANYONE would give this less than a 4 or 5. I went on Friday evening (18th) with a friend of mine and we were both blown away. There was a private party, a packed bar, packed tables and luckily they had shared tables that we were able to snag a seat. The service was impeccable. Our waiter knew the menu, answered our questions and was quite prompt. Even with it being their first week and taking on a private party the kitchen, bar and staff were able to keep up and timing went perfectly. We had shared a few items and all items I would order again. (deviled eggs with trout roe, seasonal Market Salad, and the Fried Chicken basket with most savory pan of mac and cheese.) I was ready to go back the following day with my father who was visiting from out of town but sadly his flight just didn't sync with their opening week hours. To accomplish this from me (an extreme foodie, ex restaurant manager, and hardest person to wait on) deserves 5 stars in my book! Congrats on your opening; I will be bringing everyone. One thing though....please take into consideration shorter people when picking out your bar stools and seats. My feet dangled and its oddly uncomfortable considering I'm 5'4. Came on a Friday night around 9pm and got seated pretty quickly. The first thing I noticed was how fairly the alcohol is priced. There are several beers/wines that are at least a dollar or two cheaper than what other bars in JC charge. $6 for a botttle of Dogfish 90 minute IPA is a steal, and I'm hoping they don't figure that out. We ate deviled eggs,which were very OK. LIke the definition of OK. I got the bacon/egg burger with fries, which was tasty, but $16 is pretty steep. The menu has it at $14, so I guess a slice of cheddar cheese was $2. The fries were also undercooked but they tasted good. My lady got the crab chowder, which was also very OK. The menu is super shallow so if you don't want the 15 or so entree options they offer, there isn't much to fall back on. Said lady is a vegetarian and she didnt want tacos or a mushroom burger, and that pretty much exhausted her options, and I ended up cooking her grilled cheese when we got home. Our server, Greg, was awesome. He spent a ton of time explaining the menu, and generally being available to take care of our table. Great job, Greg. The menu needs some work, which is to be expected from a new restaurant, but on drink prices, service, decor, environment, and food OK-ness, this is worth a shot. read more

New place. Service was excellent!! Easy to make reservations here on Yelp. Appetizers were just OK. Main courses were excellent. Noise level got a little high around 8:30 Saturday night but hey it's also a bar. We will go back. I believe the the chef and manager are committed to excellence and given a little more time the food will get even better (I know of the chef from Lighthorse Tavern etc and the manager come over to talk). Will wait a year until they figure out who they are and what works as their current menu clearly isn't. The burger with bacon was just Ok and the specialty salad tried way too hard - tiny and confusing ice hard root vegetables with roe and a few leaves of spinach. arepa con quest was tasteless even with the bacon and egg.
