My first experience with Green Ginger was wonderful!! Came after a long drive home with my mom and sat at the sushi bar. Want a new and exciting new Asian Fusion restaurant on the south side of Indy. This place was small but very inviting. The staff were very friendly and attentive. With the small place, they had 3 waiters to cover the floor. There's a sushi bar which reminded you of how a Japanese bar should look like. The decor of the place is very modern with a feel of East meets West. The menu was simple yet had plenty to choose from. My daughters got the chicken ramen noodles. They both gave it a thumbs' up. I had the shrimp and tofu hot pot and it was very plentiful. I took half of it home. My husband got the panda feast and loved the taste to it. If you like bamboo shoot and chicken - you cannot go wrong with this dish! For appetizer, we got some California roll, avocado rolls and cucumber rolls - the presentation was very elegant!!! They offered complimentary cucumbers -it was crunchy, with a hint of vinegar seasoning. The cucumber was refreshing to the taste! Pricing were reasonable to average. We happened to go during the grand opening. We tried some sushi, pad Thai, fried rice, kimchi and they even brought out a few samples of other dishes. Everything was absolutely delicious and I think we will be regularly going from now on. The interior is small but very nice and they also do Carryout orders. Wonderful experience! The menu has something for everyone. We had the seafood rice bowl with hot oil on the side.Delish. The tempura was light and the shrimp was so fresh. Very, Very good! We ordered delivery from DoorDash and honestly we weren't expecting much, but wow! So delicious. I got steak teriyaki and fried rice. The steak was cooked perfectly. It was so tender and melted in my mouth. The fried rice was also good! My boyfriend got the pork belly ramen, which he really enjoyed. Everything was packaged so nicely and cute as well. Excellent new place on the far south side of greenwood. Super nice decor and cozy. Good date spot. Menus covers a wide variety of rolls and dishes. It's more pan asian than a Sushi place but that isn't a bad thing. Prices are on the higher end but the quality is top notch. The waitstaff is very attentive. They seem to want to get word of. Out out for the place and that's ok. One ding against them. The sign outside isn't super Intuitive about what the place is until you look at the windows. The best sushi on the south side of Indy. Went here today and had no clue what to expect as options on the south side of Indy are slim when it comes to sushi and oriental food. This is the best and I'll even say it rivals Ocean World on the north side. Believe me I've tried them all. Staff is super friendly. Ingredients are so fresh. And a bright atmosphere. We only ate sushi and can't speak of the Korean and other dishes this time. Lunch specials are superb. My family and I will be back and we'll continue to invite friends and family here to eat. Very rude staff and bad food. My waitress told me one roll of sushi was enough for me because it was 8 pieces. My husband ordered three full sized rolls and she said nothing to him. The sushi was very bad. The ingredients seemed fresh, but they put this overly sweet slimy sauce on every roll that ruined the flavor. Otherwise it was all very bland. I got hot green tea which was oversteeped and very bitter. We tried to get dessert, one red bean ice cream and one red bean mochi. First, we were told they are the same. They are not the same. The mochi was bland and tasted like pure cream. Nothing at all like red bean. The red bean ice cream was freezer burned and tasted spoiled. The waitress tried to argue with us and said it was fresh. It may have been freshly ordered, but whomever their supplier is sent them spoiled product. Overall it was a horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend eating here. read more

The sushi was good, but it isn't something I'd write home about - especially considering the cost. I understand that sushi is expensive, but 2 basic rolls and red snapper shouldn't cost $40. The food was fresh, fish tasted great. Rice was a bit overly damp and clumpy, but it's sticky rice. Wasabi was really good and got a TON of it. Score!! Great sushi, excellent apps, attentive service. Small, but more quaint than crowded. However, the flashing string lights were pretty distracting. Take that away and you have a solid experience. We had a chef's choice sushi combo, a Maki roll combo, and our kids split the ramen. The noodles for the ramen were a little over cooked, but not terrible. read more

The filet mignon was dry, likely the "chef" didn't let it rest. It was well done and I ordered rare. Big disapointment. Any chef knows that if you go beyond med rare with a filet, it ruins it. Obviously this "chef" doesn't know that. And who puts that much cilantro on a steak? There were shitake mushrooms in the dish, one of my favorite mushrooms. Shitakes are very flavorful, but in this dish you could not taste them. There was so much salt and teriyaki sauce, it overwhelmed everything but the cilantro that they might as well have used button mushrooms because the shitake taste was buried. Not to mention, the steak is in a soup of teriyaki sauce. The california rolls had a very strange taste (not good), kind of a chemical taste, which means the tuna is probably not good. And of course they served the standard and hideous miso soup. Last but not least, I am a huge black rice fan, so I ordered their black rice. Unseasoned and WAY over cooked and strangely fishy tasting! Not much of this meal was edible! Oh! And here's the kicker! I am eating the crab rangoons and then bite into a chunk of plastic! 100% of this meal was not edible. read more
