We stopped into Sisters Korean for the first time and were so glad we did! We had their lunch chicken stir-fry special with kimchi and veggie additions, and it was absolutely delicious. Our waitress made the experience much better. She was wonderful at explaining the menu, patient with all our questions, and helped guide us since we hadn't visited before. Her clear descriptions helped to decide what we would like to eat and try for our first experience. A couple of notes for fellow diners: the "regular" spicy level is very spicy! I love heat and thought it was perfect, but if you're sensitive to spice you may want to ask for mild or none. The kimchi here is excellent (and available to purchase in small or medium containers). Their radish kimchi in particular is amazing--it's a must-try. Best of all, Sisters Korean is locally owned and operated. This was my second time here, the first was a few years back. This second time was even better. We got there on a Friday as soon as they opened. They are located in a strip mall and there's plenty of parking and once you enter, it is spacious and there's plenty of seating too. We got the Korean BBQ all you can eat. It is pricey but worth it! The service was fantastic, we were impressed that she took time to explain each item to us and she came by regularly to check on us. The food was incredible. I wanted something I don't usually have for lunch, so I popped in here on a Monday. The waiter called out a friendly greeting as I entered the restaurant and showed me a seat. I explained to this friendly young man that I was a huge fan of Chinese and Japanese cuisine but had not tried Korean food before. He patiently explained to me what the lunch offerings were and I selected beef bulgogi, since it seemed a safe bet. The bulgogi was exactly as the gentleman described it to be - tasty, comforting, a tiny bit sweet, not spicy. I found it to be delicious. He also brought five little dishes - "banchan", which really intrigued me. There was kimchi made from cabbage, another kimchi made of cucumber, glass noodles, fish cake, and DELICIOUS shredded jellyfish in mayonnaise, which I loved! The bulgogi was served with white rice (which is refillable, as is the banchan!) I enjoyed the meal so much I told the young man I would be back with my husband when he was off work. So we returned for dinner a couple of days later and this gentleman remembered me, as did the sweet older lady who also works there. I had bulgogi again because I love it, and my husband had spicy stir-fried squid. They serve NINE banchan dishes with dinner, so we had a wonderful time sampling all of that. We were a little saddened to learn that our waiter was working his last night, but we greatly appreciated how patient he was in explaining everything and making sure we had a great experience. As far as ambiance goes - both times I was at this restaurant, they were not busy so the atmosphere was quiet and low- key. Our waiter told us that they get quite busy on Friday and Saturday nights, which is understandable. We order from Sister's Korean all the time! Mostly for delivery or pick-up, and it never disappoints. The food is always super tasty and fresh, and the banchans are so good. They give a great variety and everything always tastes fresh and amazing. We've also eaten there a couple times and had a great experience. The staff is nice, and the vibe is relaxed and welcoming. Wow, where do I even begin? This place is so delicious and so authentic is one of the best Korean places I have been to in a very long time. All the sides were so great. The kimchi was so delicious and so was the bean sprout kimchi. The Korean barbecue was just so delicious and the sauces that came with. It were just perfect to go with it. I came here awhile ago with my husband and two friends to eat. This was my first Korean bbq experience ever and I feel really let down. The service was terrible from one of the owners. We were given attitude and eye rolls when we asked for a different type of meat or another soju. The taste and quality of the meat for what we paid was terrible. Everything had a terrible after taste for me that lingered in my mouth for two days. Thankfully I did not let this experience deter me from trying other Korean spots around Indy because there are way better places with better food quality and service! Solid Korean food out here! The Kimchee banchan was actually the best thing I had here, it was spicy and fermented enough, exactly what I like. I'd expect it to be homemade since there are not many Korean/Asian stores around, but still great anyways. I got the lunch special bibimbap, and it was great for the price. Meal with tax was under $10 and it came with a good portion of bibimbap, small soup, and all the banchan. My wife and I visited Sisters a couple weeks ago for dinner. She had heard good things from a friend and the restaurant more than lived up to the recommendation. The food is fresh and perfectly made. We enjoyed everything, but the highlight for me were the Korean dumplings. They were crisp and delicious. My wife loved her soup, saying that it reminded her of her childhood. I'm an avid eater of Korean food, both home cooked and dining out. I've been searching for a good place in Indiana. Not sure if it was just an off day, but the food here just wasn't what I expected per the reviews. Dwenjang Chigae was watery, bland, and missing the typical flavor of this stew. The steamed egg was overcooked. The Kimchi pancake was too doughy, and not cooked long enough. Unfortunately I wasn't able to eat more than a couple bites and had to toss the rest. I've wanted to try this place for *ages.* After a long day driving around, trying to find the location of the craigslister selling me an elliptical machine (answer: not the first location my iPhone sent me to, by about ten miles), His Goatness was exhausted and hangry. I suggested Sisters, since it was closer than our house... I'm so glad he agreed! Immediately upon entering, one of the sisters required that we use the hand sanitizer on the front stand -- kudos! All of the sisters wore masks as well. I felt like they took our health seriously. I approve. I noticed that there was a really large group of people eating there, speaking Korean -- always a good sign. She then asked us if we wanted the barbecue or regular menu. Never having been here before, I shrugged and said "I don't know yet." She seated us at a table with a grill in the middle, which was good, because His Goatness was too tired to decide. We went with the barbecue. The barbecue came with a delicate soybean soup, a cup of rice... and two dozen tiny dishes of banchan (wide variety of side dishes: salads, pickled or marinated veggies, seaweed, kimchi, etc.). As well as a HUGE FREAKING PILE OF MEAT. Four varieties, some marinated, some not. All of it sliced paper-thin. 10 seconds or less were required to sear the delicate slivers of meat, which could then be eaten over rice, dunked in the soup, or wrapped in crisp green romaine leaves to eat as little bundles. Condiments were comprised of a soy sauce with scallions, and sesame oil/salt/pepper -- which was amazing on the meat. (Thanks to the sister that explained the lettuce-bundle to me, as I haven't eaten at a Korean restaurant before.) So! I'm stuffed, happy, and had fun with this meal. But the regular menu items were extensive and tasty-looking... I'll have to come back. read more

I had a few hours in between doctor appointments, and I was craving a Korean Bibihop dish. I Yelped it in the area I was in, and up came Sisters Korean Restaurant. I thought, "No way, I have always wanted to try this place years ago." Went inside, and it's very clean and quiet, and there's this oasis garden shrine in the middle of the restaurant. You are greeted hello immediately by the staff, and I was seated. It's such a beautiful place inside. I knew exactly what I wanted, and it came out with the sizzling rice, beef, and egg. They bring all the add ins in a small individual dish on the side. This was really nice because if you didn't like something, you didn't have to add it. I tried it and added everything. They give you much more add ins than any other Korean restaurant I have been to, plus they give you the bottle to put the spicy red sauce on. They do have the tables that have the Cook top on them to cook your own meat and vegetables or however that is done. I will definitely be back. The only place I can get Korean food near Indianapolis, so I'm not one to complain! I've sat in the restaurant and also ordered to go, and both experiences were great. I had sundubu, kimbap, and ox bone soup here before - all of which were delicious. There's also a gracious serving of banchan/side dishes to go with the food (even takeout!). Love their logo/branding as well, very family-oriented! The times that I've been there, seems like a pretty quiet spot without too much noise. We have been talking about trying this restaurant as the reviews I've read sounded very positive. We tried them today and so glad we did. It was amazing. We were seated right away and drink orders were taken. There were a lot of menu items to choose from on the lunch specials so our server was quite helpful in advising us on choices and the spicy items. I decided to get the bibimbap bowl with a side of 3 yaki Mandu dumplings. The dumplings were quite tasty and complemented my bowl quite nicely. My special also came with the soup of the day which was a kimchi soup and yummy. When our entrees came out we were quite surprised with the side items that came out to share with the table. It was a nice surprise and had a variety of pickled veggie items that were delicious. My favorite side was the potatoes. I could have eaten more of them. The dining room was cozy and casual. Sisters is a nice option for Korean food on the south side of Indy. They had covid precautions in place by requiring everyone entering to apply hand sanitizer, kept tables far apart, and always had their masks/ gloves on. Banchan spread was generous and a good variety, including a few very traditional sides you don't normally see at other Korean restaurants. For appetizers and mains, we got the kimbap, boodae chigae, and chung guk chang. Kimbap was pretty good with a nice touch of sesame oil, but could have used a bit more flavor. Not sure exactly what could have been improved but maybe they used less salt to season the veggies or a lighter marinade for the meat. Boodae chigae was decent but didn't quite meet our expectations. It's a kimchi broth so it has a good amount of flavor to begin with, but the one here was lighter than ones we've had at other places. This may be because there were no additional things, such as ramen noodles, cheese, etc, which are commonly included with this soup. The picture of the "jeon gol" version has ramen noodles in it so maybe these "extras" only come with the 2 serving version. Chung guk chang came out piping hot and very hearty. This is a fermented soybean soup with tofu and veggies that some restaurants may shy away from offering due to the strong aroma. It's quite a strong smell, but if you can handle it, a tasty and healthy soup option. All in all we had a positive dinner experience and felt that they offered some great traditional dishes. The store closes in the middle of the day and reopens. I think it's 11-2:30 then 4:30-9:00pm. So if you're there late afternoon they may be close. Overall, will definitely visit again. First Korean BBQ experience - split the Korean BBQ "all you can eat" with a friend, but we were more than full with the first plate. Your first plate gets a variety of meat, but if you choose a second round you can pick which specific meats you want. Honestly in classic Midwestern raised-in-a-cornfield fashion, I didn't quite pick up on all the different foods I was eating, but it was a fantastic way to try a little bit of everything. I was not prepared to cook on my own though! There is a grill right at your table and she brought us a plate of raw meat, got it started, and we were on our own. Really neat experience, but I was just not prepared. Maybe this is common knowledge and I was just the last to know. That's fair! Sisters is one of the few Korean Restaurants in the Indianapolis area and I would say it is the best! I have taken people here many times over the years to introduce Korean food and they have not been disappointed. My favorite part of the dining experience is all the small assortment of dishes that are brought out before the meal. This is a staple at Korean restaurants and will come with the meal. My all time favorite order would be the Bibimbap. I also recommend the Bulgogi. The one thing I would warn people about is the service can seem pushy at times. Wow, how have I not reviewed Sisters? Indianapolis doesn't have many Korean restaurants, and Sisters is the best of them. Like most Indy area Korean spots, it focuses on BBQ but does offer a range of entrees. The banchan here is excellent, the miyeok(seaweed/kelp) one and the fish cakes especially. I always order their kimbap, and the tteok-bokki is decent as an appetizer as well. Not my favorite version but it's hard to go wrong there. I am not a big Korean bbq fan so I can't speak to that, but their entrees are great. I love their soups, especially the kimchi based ones. What a wonderful treat. Came on Memorial Day looking for a local place that was open. I have had gall bladder surgery and needed to try to stay away from fats and oils or an abundance of them. This was such a fabulous meal and it really hit the spot. Our meal was spicy and delicious. I ordered the chicken stir fry. Husband ordered the beef bulgogi. Both were delicious, tasty, tender and full of flavor. Just the right amount of spice. We also ordered some fried dumplings. I couldn't have any, but heard they were really good too! My only complaint- if I have one is there is plenty of food, I took 1/2 of my stir fry home, but the rice portion is so very small that I didn't have any rice to take home. Not really a complaint. This Korean restaurant did not disappoint me! Since I moved to Indy I have been searching for a Korean restaurant. I went there on a weekday for lunch, was the first customer there. There are plenty of tables. The menu has variety, and several choices on lunch menu as well. I had a bulgogi lunch and added three mandus for $2. Not a bad deal! It was a delicious meal, with fast and friendly service. I wish it was closer to where I live but I would not mind driving to enjoy delicious Korean cuisine. read more
