The menu has a new look, but it's the same delicious food as always!

I missed the Greenhouse Inn during Covid. This is our first time we've been able to come back after they reopened.

Yesterday I was invited to lunch w/my buddy from the gym. He suggested Greenhouse Inn located on corner of Ridge Ave & Devon. I'm always open to trying something new and different. Greenhouse Inn is part of Misericordia Home. Misericordia Home is a not-for-profit developmental home for persons with mild to profound developmental disabilities in Chicago, Illinois. It is run by the Sisters of Mercy and operated under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Many of the people that work there are residents of the home which I'm told has an 8 year waiting list, but once you are accepted you are there for life. The Greenhouse Inn is located on the campus and is part of the home. The Greenhouse Inn was packed when we got there with a large dining area seating perhaps around 100 people. They serve a buffet lunch Tuesday - Friday. I'm told the menu changes everyday so it's best to call about 11am to find out what is being served on that particular day. Yesterday at the salad bar they had leaf salad, a broccoli salad, pasta salad, cole slaw & green beans cooked to perfection. There was also jello & a dessert salad with fruit, coconut and whipped cream. The main entry was baked chicken, potatoes & vegetables w/cooked carrots & green beans. The chicken was delicious cooked to perfection, very moist & seasoned very well. In addition you can order items ala cart like burgers or sandwiches. We both ordered the buffet. They also have baked goods for sale that looked delicious (maybe next time) They also have an outdoor dining area which we should have eaten at since the weather was near perfect for being outside

A great cause & a great meal! Beautiful buffet for Sunday. Lunch looks fabulous too. Buffet even had brisket & shrimp. Such kind people. I'll definitely go back.

My order of fish and chips. The fish and chips were tasty. Loved the tartar sauce!

My husband and I were on the lookout for a casual lunch spot over the holidays and The Greenhouse Inn came to mind. The food was good and the service was excellent! Post meal, this was worth the trip up to West Rogers Park. The Greenhouse Inn is a quaint, cafeteria style restaurant. It can hold at least 100 guests. The overall ambiance makes you feel as if you've just stepped into grandmas house. The servers are warm, accommodating, and they escort you to your table. The tables are set with formal place settings. We visited around Christmas and the restaurant was decorated from end to end with holiday decor. Even my placemat had Santa on it! The festive atmosphere really got me in a holiday mood. You have a choice to choose from their daily specials or from their menu. As other Yelpers have mentioned, they have a clever ordering system. At every table, there are colored sheets of paper categorized by courses (I.e. Appetizers/Main Courses/Specials/Drinks/Dessert). These colored sheets allow you to check off what item you'd like to have. When you're finished ordering, hand the paper over to your server to get the ball rolling. It's a great ordering system to help staff keep track of who ordered what. (See pics below). There are lots of options to choose from. There are several affordable dishes (ranging from $7-15) that can suit anyone's preferences. Whether your a vegetarian or pescatarian, it's nice to know that you can choose a vegan or gluten free dish in addition to their regular menu. I ordered the Fish and chips basket and Ben ordered Shrimp Alfredo pasta from the buffet. Both were good and the servings were just the right amount! We didn't get anything from the bakery but next time, I would like to purchase a chocolate chip loaf! There is ample parking in the Misericordia compound. They only serve lunch so check their hours of operation.

    Pecan square. Yum!

They never change their buffet foods it's always the same anytime I go. It's decent food but some new items would be nice.

My son and his girlfriend have been there many times, and insisted we get the whipped ricotta appetizer and kale salad. Both of these items were top notch, as were the cocktails and we enjoyed. The pasta bolognese that the ladies ordered was delicious. My son had the burger and fries, and it was fine, just not very special. I ordered the "half" chicken, thinking as a bird themed restaurant, the only poultry entree would be a star, but that was not the case. A small thigh and half of a breast was their interpretation of a half chicken, and this was noted on the menu, but the portion was disappointing. The dish was supposed to to be accompanied by polenta with trumpet mushrooms, but two paltry slices of mushroom with a small smear of polenta completed the dish which "artfully" only occupied the left half of the plate, leaving the rest of the plate bare. Small portions aside, the dish was overly salty, to the point I had dry mouth the rest of the night, and the chicken was overcooked. The taste was fine, and the little bit of polenta added enough moisture to make the dish work. The worst thing was the incredibly dull dinner knife that couldn't cut through the mushroom, let alone the chicken, causing me to apply the stab and pull/tear method to get bite sized pieces. Everything thing else was superb. I would go back for the cocktails and appetizers, perhaps grazing the appetizers and a salad as a dinner. The pastas all looked terrific, but I will probably steer clear of the four mains on the menu, as they seem to be the least inspired items to order.

Let me start off by saying this was not a business I would…read morehave thought of going to because I don't just do salads as a meal unless it is a big giant taco salad, but for a work meeting, this was the place that lunch was ordered from. I got the Chicken Avocado Ranch for my selection (Antibiotic-free blackened chicken, avocado, pickled onions, apples, tortilla chips, white rice, chopped romaine, seed oil-free green goddess ranch) and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. As I was home on the Friday after the Xmas Day celebration, hungry, didn't want to cook/heat anything up, I decided to order this salad for dinner through Grubhub. While I was placing the order, I decided to try the Fish Taco for the next day's lunch (Antibiotic-free miso glazed salmon, avocado, shredded cabbage, cilantro, tortilla chips, herbed quinoa, spring mix). This bowl comes with a sweetgreen hot sauce & lime cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette, but I opted to switch that out for the Green Goddess Ranch and the Miso Sesame Ginger. I loved the fact that I would add or not include certain items. For example, I love goat cheese, so I add that to both bowls and it was delish. Delivery was pretty smooth, with the driver coming up to our floor to drop everything off. Both bowls looked visually pleasing and the overall taste was pretty good. The flavors were nice and there was a freshness to both bowls, even the Fish Taco one on the next day. FYI the Fish Taco bowl can only be ordered online, not ordered in the store...not sure why, but since I will not be going to the store, I am good with that. You also have the option to order a slice of bread with each bowl and that was nice. Next time I will see if I can get a second slice. Total cost for the two bowls, with some add-ons and service fee and tip was about $58. I will say it will be cheaper to go to the store and pick it up yourself, but I will pay to have stuff delivered to me for peace of mind. They do have an app for placing orders, but I will stick with Grubhub because that is free for me through Amazon. I realize sweetgreen has a mission statement about eating healthy, lowering their carbon footprint, a commitment to animal welfare, but before I knew any of that, I still would say the bowls were pretty good. Not that I crave salads or bowls that often, but if I do, this will be the first place I order from.

I have had this dish at other restaurants and this was by far the best in terms of the texture and flavor. The Dutch Baby (puffy German-style pancake, baked in a skillet. Served with butter and Canadian maple syrup). Smaller than what I though it would be, but it was lovely....4 Star meal, no doubt in my mind. The Doctor got the Chilaquiles (El Milagro Tortillas, Serrano Tomatillo Salsa, Pickled Red Onion, Sour Cream, Queso Fresco, Cilantro and two scrambled Farm Eggs), which he loved. The Queen and I enjoyed the Dippy Dog Bites (sausage, battered and deep fried- served with maple syrup for dipping), those were quite tasty, sort of reminded me of a mini McGriddle. The BFF got the Wisconsin Pimento Sandwich (breakfast sausage layered with creamy house-made pimento cheese, egg, salad and roasted potatoes) and he cleaned his plate. The Queen got the Steak & Eggs, no photo but she also cleaned her plate (10 oz of coffee-chili rubbed beef tenderloin tips, two eggs cooked the way you like, refried beans, pickled red onion, avocado, cotija and cilantro). But you may be asking, why am I only giving 3 stars for my review? Well because Yelp has not moved to a half star rating. The food at Farm Bar was wonderful and I would love to come back and try the burger and that Brandied Cherry Sundae. The service is what took it down to a 3 star rating. Me, The Doctor, The Queen and my BFF #1 decided to come here for brunch. We were seated at a great table, which for me was the best on in the house as we were not crowded around other tables. There was a table near the windows but there was water dripping from the overhead air conditioning pipes overhead and they ended up moving. Our server was nice, pleasant enough, but just not as attentive as we would have liked. More than once we had to get his attention for additional drinks, although the busser was great at clearly our table. We had another person call him over so The Queen could give him a $20 tip. ai ordered extra eggs with my dish that did not come out, so the server had to go back and get them for that lovely dish. Everyone enjoyed their meal and we all agreed that we could come back here for a meal. And I would definitely revisit this review, but for now, it will stand at 3 stars.
