Gregory's my favorite chain (that feels more like a locally-owned coffee shop) in the New York/New Jersey area. Don't get me wrong, I will never not admit to loving Starbucks but if there's a Gregory's in the area I will always go there, even if it's a little bit pricier. There's many reasons but the top 2: CBD coffee drinks and superb vegan breakfast sandwiches that I typically order in the late afternoon when I'm my way to a work event. Years ago, I swore Gregory's strawberry CBD-infused latte about saved my sanity when I was trying to resolve the fact that someone had stolen my house closing costs from me while also leading a work conference at the same time. CBD lattes in the morning helped me keep my calm. This past holiday season they introduced the diving mistletoe kiss latte, which has peppermint, orange zest, oat milk (they always have an oat milk drink that you don't have to order special unless you're looking to switch to dairy. I like that) and CBD. So delicious! And in the pre Holiday season, AKA autumn, there's the Fall Oat Boy which depending on the temps, I'll get iced because it's that good iced. My favorite sandwich is the Vegan Deluxe which comes on a chia seed croissant that is unbelievably buttery and has Just Egg, Beyond Sausage and Daiya cheese. I also love their vegan BEC (something about that plant-based bacon is just so satisfying). The Beyond Flex comes on focaccia and is a bit more hearty. It's my understanding that there are so many dedicated plant-based options because Gregory, himself (yes, he looks like their logo) is vegan. And perhaps it's Gregory's presence and social media that makes this chain feel more personal than the others. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The reason why I havent visited this store in over a year was bc last year, my coffee was overpriced and bitter but worse the customer service was non existent and rude. I made the mistake of trying again and had the same experience only worse. I ordered a cappuccino, which by definition is espresso with some steamed milk and foam. I asked for it extra hot and dry. The guy made me a latte which is a lot of steamed milk and ZERO foam. I said to him 'you just made a latte can you pls make a cappuccino'. With ENORMOUS amounts of attitude he said "this is a cappuccino, this is how do it here:". WHAT?! (short guy with glasses). I said this is not a cappuccino can you pls make it again? He continued arguing (which is diabolical, just make it again) telling me he made it correctly and said "you know what ill just have some else do it for you" and called me a bitch under his breath!!!!!!!!!The spanish woman who came over, who clearly didnt care about his attitude or about me "said you just want it with foam? a cappuccino comes with foam I dont need to ask for it. Why am i getting this horrible attitude from everyone? I believe also she is the manager which makes it worse. If she doesnt care, none of the staff will. She didnt apologize, she didnt smile, she was totally unfriendly and was enabling this nasty guy-who is clearly miserable with his life. The consistency was also really watery-I checked and it appears to have been made five days ago, not sure why they still gave it to me. It tasted disgusting. I ate a few bites and knew something definitely wasn't right so I had to throw it away. Wasted five bucks on that. The nitro cold brew is decent, but I personally like Starbucks' better. I came to grab a coffee but also had to pee really badly. I asked if I could pee before I ordered and the people working there said no and that I had to order before. I was fully planning on ordering a drink but I had to pee very badly so I was a little annoyed when they made me order a drink before. For more context - my friend had already paid for her drink and I was fully planning on getting one...I found it to be a little off putting but not a big deal. However, when I finally paid for my drink, the woman working was still being very rude about giving me the bathroom code. When I finally got my drink it was pretty standard to other Gregory's around the city - nothing special. While my friend and I were sitting and drinking our coffee, the line for the bathroom had grown (and we were sitting in front of it). All of a sudden my friend and I heard the server screaming at a woman in the bathroom line asking her how long she's been at the cafe, to show proof of payment, asking her where she was sitting. The servers were so aggressive and rude about it - I still feel so bad for the woman in line. The woman in line had said multiple times she had been there for a long time and was doing work at a table but the server refused to believe her...it wasn't until another person at the cafe verified they saw her that the servers calmed down. It was honestly so disrespectful. In NYC- I understand having rules and regulations about bathroom use in heavily populated areas but monitoring the bathroom as aggressively as the workers here were was too much. I just needed a place to do some productive work and luckily this was close to where I was! There were plenty of outlets and it wasn't too busy inside. Perhaps it was because I came in on a weekday afternoon around 6PM. Snacks are 50% off after 5PM, so I decided to try a lemon loaf cake. Unfortunately, I was able to see why the lemon loaf cake was half-priced. It was so hard and bland! It just felt like I was eating some soft cardboard with poppy seeds in it. I ended up having to toss the majority of it. At least I only had to spend two dollars in order to get a good seat with an outlet here. Ehh. Not worth it. Ordered a medium oat latte and asked for it to be in a mug to stay. The cashier said they can't put them in a mug but a paper cup...ok... Don't know why they couldn't put it in a mug. There were a bunch of them on top of the espresso machine. Oat latte was WEAK. I've had way better. Either their espresso wasn't strong enough or the barista was heavy handed with the milk. On top of that, I couldn't even get some latte art. Don't charge me $6.10 for a medium oat latte and not make my latte look pretty. That's the least they could do for making a weak latte. They also charge $.95 for oat milk. A lot of other places I've been to usually charge $.50 or $.75. If you're gonna charge that much for lattes, your lattes better be the BEST in the city. Overpriced subpar oat latte. Not worth it. I've been binging Gregorys Coffee for a few months during my stay in New York City. I have a few things to mention about this Gregory's location. I absolutely adore the Nu-brew and Fresh Blueberry Muffins. The richness and complexity that the Nu-brew consists of reminds me of how I wanted coffee to be when I was younger! Beautiful, Sunlit with subtle decor store attracts many. The staff are amazing, respectful and youthful. I'm completely surprised by the reviews, many of them seem racially targeted. To turn a negative to a positive, the young African American woman is a luminous energy when spoken too. I believe she is one of the best baristas at this location as she cares for customer's customizable drinks but also remembers them too! The staff are extremely knowledgeable about the area, I was recommended amazing small family restaurants that are actually authentically based. I'm glad that I stumbled upon this gem! read more

Stayed the night at the Arlo Nomad with my bf and we decided to drop by to get some yummy smoothies! Very pleased with my Purple haze as it was refreshing and a good portion size for breakfast. My bf also enjoyed his Peanut Pleaser. Prices for each one is approx $9 (not counting tax), which I will say is pricey, but doesn't hurt once in a while (compare to juice generation which is also approx $9-10 with taxes). Love this Gregory's location. Located near busy K-town, Gregory's has two floors with lots of seating and tables. However, it does get busy and full at times but somehow the lines are really fast. Like all of the Gregory's in the city, the best way to pay is through their app so get it in the app store to save and get free drinks. They usually don't sell their matcha balls here if you're searching for them but they are always stocked with various delicious baked goods. Drinks are always on point and customer service is great. No complaints. I do have to comment that this place has a familiar basement smell if you don't mind. This Gregory's is my favorite location as it's near Herald Square and the subway stations.
