I came here during COVID times and they did not disappoint at all! They had lots of outdoor seating and indoor seating and completely got rid of menus and moved over the the scan mobile menus. I got take out once and dined in once and both times were delicious! The few things that I ordered was the mac and cheese bites, bang bang shrimp tacos, and the jambalaya. The bang bang shrimp tacos were very much "meh" honestly nothing special. They came with three tacos and each only had three pieces of shrimp each with slaw and sauce. Personally I need more meat in the tacos to get some bang out of my buck, so I wasn't a fan of those. The jambalaya was pretty good! Very spicy (to me) but overall was good. What I love from Griffin Claw are the mac and cheese bites. They are so crispy and creamy and delicious! The drinks here are also decent! I have tried their seltzers and a sour that I cannot remember the name of, but they were both quality. The service is always decent. The server I had last time was super friendly and attentive. Love Griffin Claw. Been here several times with my partner, in-laws, friends, and most recently took my dad here for a low key birthday dinner. Great selection of beers, (and cocktails for those who don't like beer). Food is great and even the pickiest of eaters will find something they'll enjoy. Ambiance is next level--patio with fairy lights, picnic tables, and fire pits give a cozy vibe in the summer/fall months while the inside has high tops as well as larger tables for large parties. What I expected was a bowl of chili, but what I really got was a bowl of boiling hot water with brown beef mixed into it and a dash of salt. Next up is the bland bland burger. My boi asked for medium and got extra rare. I also had the bang bang shrimp... too saucy, 'nuff said. Out of it all, the only thing that salvages this meal for my bois and I was the fries and the kind waiter who refunded us for the chili. Ambiance was aight. I have never had a bad meal, or a bad drink at the Birmingham location of Griffin Claw. I find that the service is wonderful, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I love that this location is nut free, because it means I can take my kids. And I love that this particular location has the outside seating that in the earlier part of the day is relatively family friendly. Friends and I can meet up for a drink with our kids in tow, the kids can all play and enjoy some yummy food while me and my friends have a drink. It's a great way to spend an afternoon. I wish the feeling of this particular location could be duplicated with a Rochester location. read more

Happy Hour/Day Drinking/Bar Crawl Stop #1 This was our first stop on our self imposed bar crawl of places in our hometown. There are so many more cool places than when I lived here. I've wanted to come here ever since it opened quite a while ago. And I didn't even get a beer! Since this was our first stop, I wanted to stick with liquor. I had a mango pomegranate spritzer. Oh, and happy hour is all day, yay! It was good. House made vodka, yum. I didn't think there was much alcohol in my drink, but both my pal and I were feeling tipsy as we left. I wish I knew the name of the gal that waited on us so I could give her a shout out. Another of many places on my list to try, this was finally the day to try Griffin Claw Brewing Company. We decided to meet our monthly lunch bunch here partly because they also have outdoor seating...on the coolest day of the week! Our group size varies from four to as many as ten, depending on who's busy; today there were seven of us. They opened at noon on Saturday and we arrived a few minutes early and parked in the lot in the back. Entering from the lot we found it was empty and were told to sit wherever we liked. The first hour or so was not very crowded but filled up quickly. Our server, Dotty, greeted us and handed out menus for food and Beer. My wife and I had been studying the Reviews and photos to help determine what we wanted to try. I was in the mood for Fish & Chips Si I ordered that and my wife decided to have the Brussel Spout Salad. We also ordered a Mac N Cheese Bites appetizer and, since it IS a brewing company, I decided to have a beer flight. I picked two to sample, El Rojo Red Ale and El Ligero the Light, and asked Dotty to surprise me with the final two and she selected Idaho 7 Pale and Mr. Blue Sky. First, the Beers: they all had their own character and distinct flavors I leaned toward El Rojo because I normally prefer darker beers and Mr. Blue Sky because of the subtle citrus notes as my favorites. Now for the food! The Mac N Cheese Bites were slightly crunchy outside with a creamy cheesy inside and it came with a mixed berry reduction dipping sauce. We were off to a good start. I take my wife's word that the Brussel Sprout Salad was excellent as I'm not a salad expert. But I can say that I really liked the Fish & Chips; the batter fried up crispy with nice flaky haddock fillet and not overly greasy. The "Chips" were also really good and happily they brought out malt vinegar to top it off. Finally, everyone we encountered at Griffin Claw Brewing Company was pleasant and friendly and Dotty was excellent when answering questions and suggesting beers as well as the normal service and was a major plus to our group experience.
