Something has gone very wrong with this place the food use be good but on my visit this past Wednesday the food was bad I order the ribs which came Luke warm and they tasted like there were cook in the oven and BBQ sauce slap over them the Mac n cheese was boiled elbow noodles with melted cheese. If you happen to pass through Copperopolis I recommend you stop in and grab drink. Katelyn is an amazing bartender and the rest of the staff are always on point! I come for the spicy bloodymaires and stay for the backroads burger, that I like to call backyard buger, a sweet bun, stuffed with cheese, onion rings, brisket meat and a ground beef patty! We stopped at this cute little town for a quick lunch before we explored the caverns in Vallecito. I yelped and thought this was the only restaurant available before we get to Vallecito, this is the reason we made the stop. The restaurant decor and location is great and nice! We asked our server if the combo of two meats would be enough for two people to share and she said: oh yeah! Plenty! Our portions are big! When our food came, it was a very small portion! And the garlic bread offered was only a tiny slice of bread. The appetizer basket of garlic fries were way bigger portion than our main meal and the caesar side salad were also way bigger portion than the actual main meal we ordered. My fiancé and i decided to eat what we had first and if it wasnt enough we were going to order more. The brisket was so bland and no taste, it was all crumble in small pieces, the macaroni and cheese side portion was also on the larger side portion than the actual meat.. Once again we were out exploring our new surroundings and getting hungry. Stopped here because of Yelper reviews! I had the Starters 4 Rib basket with corn bread and a cup of Chili. My husband ordered to start a side of Garlic Bread, Pulled Pork Sandwich with Onion Rings. *Ribs were FALL OF THE BONE and tender. *Warm Corn Bread served with a sweet Honey Butter - Heaven in my mouth. *Chile - left me wanting more it was so good. Coming back for more and ordering the bowl next time! *Pulled Pork Sandwich warm and on crispy bread. *Onion Rings fried to perfection. *Garlic Bread - hot, buttery and disappeared quick! Our experience and food were just so-so. Our waitress seemed really bored/annoyed to have to serve us, despite being polite. She didn't check on us very attentively even though there were only a few other tables. My chicken meal was good, not great. The mac and cheese was too rich to eat in its entirely even as a side dish. The slaw was bland. My fiancé had the nachos with brisket. He said it was ok, but need a little more kick to really bring out the flavors. The restaurant is clean and has a charm to it. However, even after a generous tip and our food being just ok I didn't feel like we got a great value. Next time we will stop elsewhere. read more

Alright, so this is going to be a good one... I'm not one to write random reviews, as I hold on to the really good places to give my time and attention to write a review. Griff's BBQ & Grill gets my full attention! We were driving to Yosemite National Park and out of nowhere a small sign with the name Copperopolis comes into view. We decide to turn off the freeway into what I can say looks like a small town out of a Hollywood movie set. Everything is absolutely beautiful and there are a few restaurants to choose from, but we are too early to try Griffs BBQ & Grill, it's before lunch. Continue on to Yosemite and head right back to Griff's. A DAMN Good decision if I do say so myself. You enter the restaurant through "the largest door in Calaveras County" into a restaurant/ bar that looks good, smells great and is as busy as ever! As we get seated, our busser, Isaac brings us silverware and we ask what he likes to eat here, (ALWAYS ask the team). Without hesitation, he says, " The Back Roads Burger"! That's it, I'm sold, thank you very much!.. Our server, Tori arrives to take our order and both my wife and I order The Back Roads Burger, mine with pulled pork and my wife ordered her burger with brisket and my daughter ordered a brisket sandwich. Tori was awesome helping us find out about the ingredients used in their foods as my daughter has severe food allergies and she double checked with the back of the house for a substitute for her, THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE! They were busy and I was getting hungrier by the minute, so the anticipation of what we were about to get was building... WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! OMG, WHERE DO I BEGIN?! We are previous owners of a successful restaurant in Sacramento and our burger had won "Best In The City ", but I can honestly say this was BETTER! A huge burger with Pepper jack and Cheddar cooked perfectly and topped with some of the finest pulled pork I have EVER had! Lightly drizzled with their BBQ sauce that I could drink with a straw, hot, juicy, dripping everywhere, just like a burger should. As awesome as my burger was, my wife's was even better, the brisket is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Divine intervention as every bite was a new reason to thank God for helping us to find Griff's. Great crowd! Came here because my parents used to own a home in this neighborhood. This section is new to me. Small town, looks like out of a movie. Decided to come here because the smell and the great reviews. I recommended ordering jalapeños on the side if you want a kick. Bringing me to my next appetizer, the bottle caps (fried jalapeños) simple and delicious. Main course: My son gets the kids ribs with corn bread, and the little one gets the Mac and cheese. Both tasty and a guarantee for the kids. My husband gets the pulled for sandwich. Love the nachos, love the wings, tri-tip sandwich is the bomb, brisket sandwich is the bomb, even the side of ranch beans is the bomb! Save room for dessert! The brownie sundae is THE BOMB. Griff's is good. The cheeseburger is huge and tastes like what you'd expect. It was cooked nicely - not dry but not memorably flavorful either. The fries were really good & they were seasoned well but the onion rings were on the soggy side. It may have been due to the heat from the burger in the take-out container and your experience eating in may be different and the onion rings might be delightfully crunch while not being too crisp, as I prefer my rings to be. The size of the burger may allow for cutting in half and sharing if you're craving a burger but not super hungry. Overall, I would eat here again and try their other offerings. read more

The only complaints were that the fries and onion rings tasted like they were cooked in old grease and the manager wasn't very flexible. We ordered our food around 2:45pm and happy hour started at 3:00pm. I've been here 2-3 times on our way to Arnold. We love the food. My husband always gets ribs or pulled pork and I get their Cobb Salad and or burger. My 17 month old LOVES the macaroni and cheese here. Some of the best he's had apparently! Lots of verbal "Yums!!" until he nearly finishes it! The food is delicious but the staff could be more friendly and more experienced, thorough and considerate. I love the decor.
