Special lunch menu
Marcia C.

We stopped in for a drink on a Sunday evening. On the front door we saw a special lunch menu! We went back with my sister and a friend during the week for lunch. It was incredible! My sister got the burger with fries. It was quite large. Juicy and very tasty she said. My husband got the cheese steak sandwich. He said it was delicious. My sister's friend ordered the truffle burger (not on the lunch special menu) He ate it all I got the soup and salad. I got the French onion soup. It was really, really good. One of the best I've had! The salad was a fresh mix of spring greens. Delish. I would highly recommend this restaurant, for sure!

Tried something new at the last visit. Ordered the wedge salad and was very surprised by the dish. Normally you'd see the wedge of iceberg lettuce on the plate with red onions and tomatoes with blue cheese dressing. Not this one. The bowl was very large with about a third of a wedge surrounded by large bacon bits, grape tomato halves, blue cheese crumbles and topped with red onion rings. Underneath the wedge was a whole pile salad of mixed salad greens which was the surprise. Made for a huge salad and a complete meal. Two containers of blue cheese dressing were supplied which was more than enough to coat everything. This was an amazing salad and will definitely order this again! Also ordered the French onion soup and Mac and cheese both of which have been reviewed before so won't go into detail on them here. And as usual the service was great and the restaurant was nice and toasty on a snowy winter's day.

Went here for the first time this week with friends and I will say it was really good! Our waitress was awesome and super nice! My friend and I tried the pineapple upside down cake martini and it is by far my new favorite drink! I promise if you try one of these it won't be your last!!! I ordered the truffle burger which was really flavorful and juicy, my husband ordered the New York strip! Both very good, next time he will try the steak tips cause they looked incredible! A little on the pricier side but the food was good and the place is very nice inside!

We had an awesome lunch here today! Staff was friendly and attentive. We started with the Calamari as an appetizer. It was cooked perfectly. The Cider punch (pictured) was perfect for this gray, chilly day. We then split the 445 Burger & the Fish & Chips. They were both excellent! Fish was light and flaky over thick cut, almost curled French fries. The hamburger was cooked perfectly, and came with a side of those yummy curled fries. We HAD to have dessert. We ordered the chocolate cake (pictured). It was delicious because it was not overly sweet. We would definitely come back again. We highly recommend it.

The ambiance was cozy and inviting, though our table was in the middle of the aisle which felt a bit cramped. Unfortunately, the service itself was inconsistent. We had to ask for bread three times. When we ordered two brownies and one coffee, we were brought one brownie and two coffees. At the end of the meal, we asked for both my meal and my son's meal to be wrapped to go. My son's plate was accidentally thrown away because other plates were stacked on top of it. When I asked about it, the server explained what happened but did not offer to remake it, remove it from the bill, or apologize, which was disappointing. That said, it was a busy Friday during Restaurant Week, so I would consider coming back and hope the service is smoother next time. While writing this review, I actually received a text from the restaurant letting me know we left our son's plate behind, which was thoughtful and appreciated. If Yelp allowed half stars, I would give 3.5.

Thank goodness for takeout boxes. My favorite plate was the QUESO DE CABRA CON MIEL (goat cheese with honey) served with crusty bread. We paired it with the CHORIZO LEÓN HERRADURA. It was just perfect together. Dessert was worth mentioning. The warm double chocolate brownie with ice cream is a definite yes please. So rich, so gooey, so worth the calories. Bocado is a tapas restaurant, but I found these small plates quite generous. Roll me home I'm done!

My friend knows much more about wine than I do, so he was the decision maker for our wine choices and we ordered a 1/2 bottle of red which we both found to be very delicious. Of course, we had to try some food too and the small bites menu was perfect with something to satisfy nearly every taste. We opted for the meat charcuterie, and it was beautifully presented with enough for the two of us to share. There is also a cheese charcuterie on the menu, but unfortunately there is not an option for a combined meat and cheese plate. We sat, sipped, and tasted for a while and never felt rushed. The atmosphere was so comfortable and we'll definitely consider going back here again.

I didn't have the best time at Providence Wine Bar…read more This might sound a little haughty, but hear me out: I can drink wine at home. I can browse a liquor store & pick out a bottle that exactly fits my preferences, my mood, & my budget. I can bring it home & uncork the wine, checking the cork for freshness. I can pull out my special glassware & pour myself a glass of wine & enjoy it on my own couch. So why go out to a wine bar, if not for the wine? For me, it's for the ambience & the experience. Both of those things at Providence Wine Bar were lacking. The lights were too bright (overhead & fluorescent) & the music was too loud (& just bad). The employees seemed both bored & nervous, with not much to do to occupy themselves. I was one of the only people in the bar, so I felt like I was under scrutiny - I'm certain this wasn't intentional but it was unfortunately how it came across. I brought a book but couldn't focus because of the lights & the music. I even caught myself with my fingers in my ears, trying to muffle the sounds of 2010s hyper pop. I have nothing against 2010s hyperpop, it's just that there's a time & place for everything, & maybe that isn't at a wine bar at 8 PM on a Wednesday. I just wanted to be done with my glass of wine so that I could leave. All of that being said, I wish them the best. It seems like they need a good manager's touch.

The owner at first appeared very friendly and accommodating, unfortunately the visit shortly became chaotic. The owner became over talkative and extremely rude. One of my friends understandably became upset about the owner's manic behavior and decided not to participate in the tasting. The owner then became belligerent and started talking about my friend in the third person as if she was not even in the room. She said to us her three friends "oh never mind about her being upset, that's just the way some people are", or words to that effect. Then the owner stated "I haven't done anything wrong. " I attempted to diffuse this situation without success. The owner just became more manic and unpleasant. During this whole situation my friend, who was very distressed by the owner's behavior, remained calm and quiet. We ended the tasting as quickly as we could, bought our wine and left. Sharpe Hill Vineyard does have very good wines, l however will never visit their tasting room again for fear another offensive interaction with the owner.

"Walk in as strangers, leave as friends."…read more If that's not a saying that makes you want to head there now, then I don't know what is LOL! Obviously, there is more to the new renovated location of La Cantina than this saying but I will say I was pretty impressed when I saw it and knew I had to add it to my review. Let's just say it is pretty accurate. We did leave as friends since we made a few at the bar and then some. Just saying! La Cantina winery in Franklin, MA used to be a small wine bar that offered wine tasting flights and minimal food. BUT, now it is in a stunning new location (not far from their old stomping grounds). Fun Fact: It used to be a Mechanic garage. Well, wait until you see how it has turned from fixing cars to wine making and tasting. YOU HAVE GOT TO COME HERE! Parking is easy with plenty of spots. They have a lot of room at their gorgeous bar, but they also have high tops and tables for families or a large group. And, they host events here too; birthday parties, bridal showers, and anything in between, this place is it. I actually want to hold one of my milestone birthday parties here but well keep the number a secret for now. Service: Alana was our bartender and she was wonderful. Always asking us what we needed and how were doing. You don't get this upscale service any where else. And, when I wanted another sample of something she gave it to me without a fuss. Always with a smile on her face, she was the best. Wine: They have an excellent wine menu to choose from and they offer flights for about $25 pp. Flights are the best way to try multiple wines. I personally loved most of the red wines with Petit Sirah being my favorite. My husband loved their Barbera! I did sample their Sauv Blanc too which was nice but it was too cold to have a full pour. Food: Their menu is great with a ton of options from charcuterie, to tapas and some entrees. I will say some of their items can get expensive but definitely worth it. We started with a few cheeses and prosciutto. Then we ordered one of their popular pizzas called La Cantina. Everything was fresh, made in house with their beautiful pizza oven right smack in the middle of the bar. You have got to see this thing, its huge! Overall: If I could give this place 10 stars I would. We had the best time and we can't wait to go back. Franklin is not far from where we live but still a good 30 minute drive and also not far from the Wrentham outlets. We didn't have to make a reservation for a Sunday afternoon but I bet Saturdays can get pretty busy. I just loved everything about this wine bar and I know you will too! Cheers~

Coming from a big city like Las Vegas, this little wine store is what you hope to find when you come to New England. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of flashy stores and wine bars with enomatic wine systems and tasting credit cards, but it's nice to walk into a shop that looks like someone's HOUSE from the outside. Space is a little cramped but the shelves are filled with gems priced under $20. Yes, there's certainly pricier bottles but I wasn't in the market for that this day. The interior is invitingly merchandised and you'll find a fair selection of cheeses for a small place like this. Instead of the expected one bottle I walked in to purchase, I bought four. I had a chance to meet the proprietors and they were gracious and helpful and so was their staff. They have wine tasting classes and free wine tastings on Fridays from 5:30 to 7:30. Service is great, very attentive and friendly. The food is what earns this three stars. I tried a stuffie, German onion soup, a Farmhouse burger, and a key lime Mason jar. The stuffie was a little small, and most of the flavor was imparted by the ham and the squeeze of lemon. The German onion soup, I'm not sure why it was German except to not be French? Outside the name difference, the onions were way too large, and there was a total lack of flavor going on in the soup. The crock was very large too. The burger and fries looked pretty good, and I enjoyed the flavors here. The fries were rough hewn, so there was good crispness from all the edges. The toppings of the burger, and the bun, were also hearty. Unfortunately, my medium rare burger was more like raw meat with surface browning. I'm a big fan of rare steak, but ground beef needs a little more cooking. Also, the house made ketchup is really more of a marinara sauce. If I'd ended up eating more of my plate before they took it away to re-fire the burger, I would have asked to replace the ketchup. The key lime Mason jar was e everything you want to wrap up a meal. Great flavor, lightness, citrus. I did have to bring most of it home but, unlike the burger they brought back in a box, I'm excited to get back into the key lime. From an accessibility stand point, there is no ramp to get in nor handicap parking, so the evidently don't want your business. Once you're in, there are some seats you could get in, but if this place were full it would be difficult to navigate for anyone. The bathroom is a single room, but very spacious and nice. So, mixed bag for access. Your mileage may vary, but I'm not racing to return.
