I have been to the Grille a few times in the past and have always had a lovely experience. The food, drinks and ambiance have been great. Last night's experience was ruined by the outside bar patrons smoking where we were seated. Regardless of being outside, smoking should be prohibited in the dining section. At first, I thought the guy was just sneaking drags. But no, there were ashtrays set up. If they are going to allow smoking in a restaurant, they should give notice to those seated in that area. And if I could make 1 other suggestion, offer a vegetarian dish on your New Year's Eve limited menu. My wife had to get a soup and salad for her smoking lounge experience. read more

Booked a party of 20 for a birthday celebration. Could not have been better. Staff were wonderful in putting together the seating arrangement, delivering the huge order for food, returning to the table to refresh drinks etc., bringing in the surprise Cake, cutting and serving it etc. All very professional, friendly and fun. My wife and I had dinner at the Grille Riverview during the Jazz Festival. I ordered the Wahoo fish special. At $38.00, I was ready for a sumptuous meal. Unfortunately, the entree, which was supposed to be "mild and sweet," tasted like a block of wood. The fish was firm with no flavor. I had to ask for lemon just to make it edible. We stopped by the Grille Riverview for dessert on a busy Saturday evening. Fortunately they had a table on the outside patio. The view of the water was relaxing and the time of day gave us an opportunity to watch the dolphin feed within a few feet from our table. The restaurant had an old feel to it and smelled a little damp but our waitress was very pleasant and professional. The dessert menu had several items that looked delicious but the coconut Tres Leches caught the eye of three of us. The forth person went with the mango key lime pie. All three of us disliked the Tres Leches immensely. It had the appearance and taste of a low quality convenience food item that was left out too long. The cake was also very dry. The mango key lime pie was a little better. We mostly ignored out plates and instead enjoyed the view and company. read more

This restaurant is a great definition of fine dining. The location, the building architecture, the staff and the chefs certainly make dining here unique and pleasurable. Anny was our waitress. She was polite, professional, pleasant and attentive. The server from the kitchen was very friendly and professional delivering our meals and condiments. I am a local to central Florida and I frequent New Smyrna often. I had never been here before. I really enjoyed my visit! The food is a little on the expensive side, but very tasty. I have a habit of ordering lobster bisque and it did not disappoint! I love that they have a NY dish called beef on weck. As a New Yorker, it's hard to come by food that is truly as impressive as it claims to be when it comes to northern dishes. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was fast! Today the food was poor to average. Beef on Weck had lots of fat. Service was absolutely the worst. Our "Server" seemed to have no time for us. Went on Friday afternoon with only a few customers in the place. On the other hand, we had good experience last week with a waiter that was cordial with personality. Great date night place. Nicely decorated restaurant. We sat on the veranda overlooking the river. We watched dolphins playing as we enjoyed a great meal. Excellent bread with pesto olive oil for dipping. Fish an chips and mahgerata Flatbread pizza. The crust was puffy and flakey. Great location - beautiful sunset views from the patio. Friendly service but the food is meh, especially considering the price. Shrimp cocktail was good but the mussels were almost all empty shells. Caprese salad was a giant bed of chicory with a couple of tasteless tomatoes and small pieces of mozzarella. The bread and pesto/olive oil to start were delicious though! And since we were celebrating my birthday, I got a free key lime pie for dessert which was yummy and a nice touch. This was a lovely dinner spot! Lots of drinks and cocktails to choose from, and nightly specials for every course. You could choose to order upscale, but there are very affordable options, too. Went for Brunch with friends to celebrate our birthdays. The service was top notch but the food was abysmal! We have been here for more than 40 years and have eaten at the Riverview many times and stayed at the hotel as well. We were so disappointed at the Eggs Benedict. The eggs were small like quail eggs and were not poached, but lightly fried. Barely any hollandaise sauce and the bacon limp & greasy. No garnish and very unprofessional looking plates. After they gave us a table brought water for our two small dogs, pet them, and a few other people around also, Daven (the manager) asked us to move to another table, literally to the next table, just because the man at the next table complained about the dogs. Instead of moving them. Its a pet friendly restaurant. We have been there a few times with the same small dogs and sat at the same table with other people with their dogs. I've been coming to the Grille at Riverview for the last 15 years or so, and I was disappointed today. I ordered the fish tacos which sounded good but did not deliver. The salsa on the side tasted like it was straight from a jar of Old El Paso, and the pico de gallo lacked any acidity. The rice pilaf on the side seemed like it could have been Rice-A-Roni or Uncle Ben's. For nearly $15, I suppose my expectations were higher. Our server was Joshua, and he was nice enough I suppose, but never offered to refill our ice water and when he spoke it was very quiet. My lunch date got the herb crusted salmon salad with strawberry vinaigrette and it looked delicious. Sadly, they no longer offer the coconut tres leches cake for dessert, which was always my favorite thing on the menu. Finally, another perk of going to the Grille was the delightful sugar scrub in the bathroom to use while washing your hands. That's no longer offered - maybe due to Covid? Not sure. What's always great at the Grille is sitting outside and watching the dolphins, pelicans, sailboats, and drawbridge, and it was enjoyable today. read more

Evia is a honey! She is on the ball, friendly, helpful, and knows her menu front to back. When we come back (and we will) Evia will be our top choice for waitress. As for the food, the bread selection is divine. Pretzel roll is crazy good! I had chicken salad and avocados stuffed with walnuts. Omg! Fan. Tastic! Hubby had an interesting meal we'd never seen before. Seafood manicotti. He's says it's very original and quite delicious. If the key lime pie didn't have raspberry drizzle on it, we would have ordered it. All in all, a great restaurant with a superb menu. We will absolutely be back and it won't be long before we are! Not great!! We saw it on a list of nice restaurants and we decided to celebrate our anniversary there. There wasn't a wait which was nice but they didn't ask if we wanted inside or outside and sat us outside and it was just too hot - the fans did nothing to cool it off. The food was just average - definitely not worth the price that's for sure!! Don't mind paying those kinds of prices if you are getting what you paid for!! I got the ribeye steak and it wasn't a good cut of meat unfortunately and it was overcooked. My husband got the fish and said it wasn't as good as Breakers and it cost way more. Service was just ok - had to ask for refills not proactive. Only restaurant in New Smyrna that we ate at that we just didn't like during the week we were there. read more

Beautiful location right under the north causeway with a great view of the river. I've been here many times and we've had some great meals and some that were somewhat disappointing. This is the reason for the three star review you just never know how the food and service will be. The outside bar area and deck with the live entertainment is really fun the bar has always provided great service and they pour nice drinks so the value has always been good. The food on the other hand is hit or miss at best I questioned my last dinner entree since I had eaten the prime rib here several times the server told us they always seem to have kitchen issues when the place gets a little busy so that tells me it's a management issue that doesn't ever seem to get resolved. It's no longer one of the first choices we make when making dinner plans and that's too bad since we have a small group that goes out several nights a week locally. I am sure we will return the location and entertainment are great may have to pass on dinner though it's too expense to risk lunch and drinks are okay. read more

Came here after a Wedding at New Smyna Beach. It was a wedding reception with a predetermined budget so I was not able to try the entire bar and menu. Based on the service and atmosphere of the restaurant I would give it 5 stars. The food was amazing. For an appetizer we were served sliced ciabata bread with olive oil and pesto herbs to dip it in. I could eat that all day. The entree was baked chicken with sauteed mushrooms over pilaf rice and veggies. It looked small it filled me up. Overall great service. The servers were quick and very courteous. The bussers always came by and picked up our dishes. The only downside was parking was hard to find and very limited especially on a Sat night. Really had no choice but to park valet. There was only one guy that I saw working but he was good. I felt bad for the guy runnung around. The wait to get the car back did take some time though. If I go back again I would definitly get a seat on the deck facing the River what a beautiful view especially at sunset! read more

Thought of different ways to express this bad experience so anyone reading this could really understand. They should pay us for what they did to our dinner last night. Arrived at 745 and was seated promptly and placed a drink order. After 15 minutes we had to wave down a waiter not ours and the drinks - actually came about 10 minutes later. We place our order. That's pretty much the last we saw our waiter. Never got a refill on our waters. Went. Up to the guy in front and told him it been almost an hour no appetizers or drinks. He said he would get the mgr. Finally he comes and said he would buy a round and then tells us they ran out of prime rib and would replace it with strip steak They ran out because of the big party that they had. Remember we ordered an hour and a half before this. What does that tell you. Another 15 to 20 minutes later we received our meals. The only thing I was really hot was the steaks cause they just cooked them. The other people who didn't order steaks food was cold look like it had been reheated. I've always felt going out to eat is more than just the food but the experience. This one will be hard to forget since I live in the area. If i could give them a zero i would. read more

Beautiful views, excellent food and service. We were seated right next to the water and enjoyed the seagulls diving as all types of boats passed by. My wife had the French Dip, I had clam chowder and the fish and chips. All were good, especially the chowder. Great experience! read more
