We decided to take their advice, and we're glad we did. From the outside, the building looks a little worn and easy to overlook, but don't let that fool you. Once inside, we found what appears to be one of those local restaurants where people come because they know the food is consistently good. There seemed to be parking and entrances on two sides of the restaurant, making it easy to get in and out. Inside, there was a good mix of booths and tables, and everything was clean and well maintained. One thing that caught my eye was the collection of license plates decorating the walls, which gave the restaurant a relaxed, casual atmosphere. The menu is centered around seafood, as you would expect, but there are enough non-seafood choices that just about everyone should be able to find something they like. I ordered the chicken sandwich while my partner had the shrimp with onion rings. Both meals came out quickly, the amount of food was generous, and everything was delicious. The hostess greeted us and took our preference of a booth and seated us. Our waitress was friendly, professional, and attentive throughout the meal. Our total bill for the two of us was about $45, which I thought was very reasonable considering the quality of the food, the excellent service, and the pleasant atmosphere. Overall, this turned out to be an excellent recommendation, and we're glad we listened. If you're in the New Smyrna Beach area and looking for a good meal, don't judge this place by its appearance. I started with the clam chowder, and my partner had the lobster bisque--both were absolutely delicious. My chowder had a generous amount of fresh clams and was rich and flavorful, but it wasn't heavy fo my stomach. For my main dish, I had the blackened white fish with coleslaw and fried sweet potato. There I met 2 excellent and attentive bartenders. Billy and Katie are great. Making sure everyone is aware of the specials with a quick wit and totally enjoying their jobs. I noticed that the food delivered to patrons around me looked really good. Good prices with a great view of the ocean. A great beach bar. Saturday night I came back for dinner at their inside restaurant. Excellent valet parking. Newly remodelled and bright upscale restaurant. Kayla was super friendly.
