Our first experience at Grill Smith won't be our last! We came in for their happy hour appetizer specials, which, by the way can be ordered anywhere in the restaurant, not just at the bar. The steak egg rolls were our favorite by far. Use the over generous serving of horseradish dipping sauce! The blackened chicken wings were some of the best we've ever had. The cheese fondue for the pub pretzels is amazing. The toppings on the flat breads were just a little sparse but still delicious. Skip the shrimp, it is a little portion. The remodel of this restaurant is totally awesome. Loved the modern art, all of the TVs and the really classy colors. There was no management presence at all but our hostess and server were both very good. Our server knew the menu and was super speedy and very friendly. I am so glad this restaurant has opened near us. I like this friendly atmosphere and nice menu. We enjoyed it and were seated quickly even though the parking lot was packed. Our only suggestion is they need more help. Our lovely waitress did her best to keep us up to date on the drinks-they were a good half an hour in the making- and dinner. The bartender was overwhelmed. But the drink was great when we got it and our dinner was lovely. I had the delicious filet and my date had the dish with the peanut sauce. Apparently there was a mixup with our take out order - but I gotta say the server saved the day with her sincere apologies and free drinks delivered to us in the car. The food was amazing! I had the Chicken Marsala, loved it! But our waiter Danny, was rude and unprofessional. When we asked questions about the menu, he acted like we were two idiots sitting in front of him. When our dinner was over he took my credit card, mixed it up with a different table! My card was charged for their meals. After waiting for approx 25-20 mins for them to fix the problem, Danny came back, told me he would give me $11, that was charged on my card for the other table, because they couldn't take the charge off of my card. Finally Devon the acting manager for the night showed up, said he corrected the charge on my card, and gave us a $50 gift card, which was great, however I am moving and won't be using the card, so I gave it to my friend for her to use. I told her that when she goes back in to make sure she doesn't get Danny! Anyway, as we were leaving, Danny passed us and instead of saying I'm sorry about the mix up, and have good night, he once again looked at us like we were the problem. I don't quite know how to rate Grillsmith, because the food was great, if I weren't moving I would go back, except for the fact that I was very disappointed how the entire situation was handled. I enjoyed Grillsmith-Sarasota. I have never been to Grillsmith before and thought the options and menu were very good and a full bar with many drink options. The server Michael was great and engaged with the table. Why the 3.... Well my steak which was ordered rare to medium-rare came out well done. They remade it (while everyone else ate about 15 minutes) which happens... but the bill comes and I will post a picture -- the suggested tip was wrong by a lot (if I were not good at math or did not check I would have been ripped off). I asked about it and they did explain - that to remake the steak (which was ordered correctly but made wrong) they had to put it in as a new order so the tip calculated on the total with 2--30.00 steaks as well as our drinks, and other meal. The waiter was nice and did apologize but the Manager who brought it out did not even say sorry we messed up (he said can you cut it and see if you like it now).... It is a Grill House.... you would expect they know how to make a rare to med rare steak (not well done). I would go back and try more things but was disappointed in how they do business. As I thought my parents would not have thought to do the math and would have tipped around 40%. I find that unethical when you are in a market of seniors. read more

Just had dinner at Grillsmith. Loved it! Everyone there is so nice and very professional. Christine the GM checked in on us to make sure we were happy and the other managers were equally nice. We particularly loved our bartender Diana. She knows her stuff and is an absolute sweetheart. We all had steaks whether ribeye or filet. Perfectly cooked and amazing flavor. They told us about the farm in Minnesota where there meats are from and they are wet aged for 40 days. Sides were great as well. I recommend the jalapeno mac and cheese. The bananas foster is just sick. So good! I would highly recommend this place for locals, but I know the snowbirds will find it anyway. read more

Came to Friends and Family night and again last night. Everything was awesome, both times. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Beautiful, inviting interior. Food presented beautifully and cooked from scratch. Had the filet mignon with a port wine reduction. Cooked perfectly with a great sauce, fresh sautéed spinach, cauliflower mash, and fantastic key lime pie. Perfect meal! Prices are very reasonable. Second night was just as fantastic as the first. We came to Grillsmith for brunch on Saturday because we had had a great experience with the evening crew during the week. First, I'd like to say the food was great both times, but the experience was ruined due to the service on Saturday. Our waitress was nice, but when we asked for our bottomless mimosas to just a little less sweet, not adding more champagne, but just a little less juice, we got such attitude, stinkeye, and such resistance, that I, the lover of mimosas, just got beer.... what a disappointment!! The bartender was giving attitude, and was just rude. I have never given a review before, but I had to share, because if the Grillsmith can't even satisfy the customer's needs, then what good is it to go out to have an couple's brunch out? I would like to try it again when Grillsmith customers can ask for what they would like and not get such resisitance. read more

I will start off by saying that I have been to Grillsmith close to every day since they opened on August 26th!! I LOVE this place!! I usually sit up at the bar and I have fallen in love with the bartenders! Ryan, Diana, Miriam & Sierra are the best. Ryan & Diana have been there from the start and I feel like we are old friends. They are super attentive and knowledgeable. The food is excellent! I really love the Southwestern salad, Thai noodles, their various flatbreads and I have had the pub pretzels probably more than I should. My husband loves the burger and has had excellent steaks. I even invited one of the bartenders and a server to my home for Christmas!! I feel I am part of the family there and they are a part of mine! read more

Let me start this review by saying I really like this restaurant and have been here several times. This was a bad visit. Quoted time to be seated was accurate...ok fine, no problem. Server greeted us promptly..ok fine. It went downhill after that. They never brought my salad, never refilled water-even though we asked twice-my dinner was not great, my companions even worse (Salmon was like a brick that had sat and was re-heated) and my dessert -that I got to go- had what I can only imagine were tiny pieces of eggshells in it -- but that was the best part of the meal. We didn't see our server for a very long time during the meal....now I realize they are very busy and most likely short staffed as all businesses currently are. I accept that and certainly not that person's fault. The food being what it was is not acceptable. I will most likely give this place another try at a lunch hour. read more
