We were driving down Tamiami trail looking for a place to go eat when we noticed a small place we never heard of ( we're from Connecticut ). We stopped in and it was nice and modern and lively. We come to Grillsmith almost every week because the food is consistently AMAZING and the service never disappoints. This time we were lucky to have Bella as our server - she was so sweet, had a great sense of humor, and made the whole experience even better. She was super attentive without being overbearing, and just really made us feel welcome. Highly recommend starting with the salmon bruschetta - it's our favorite! Did not have a good experience 11/19/2024. New server got slammed and no one helped her out. Food delivered at wrong intervals-- 2 of 4 salads. Then the 3rd. Finally the 4th when meal arrived. Meals all had issues - over seasoned meatloaf, overcooked chicken, wrong side, inedible fish as asked for it lightly seasoned and plain and came loaded with a topping. Dessert liked by 2 of 3. Inedible meal not removed from bill. Arrived 6:30. Left 8:30. Won't go back. Left review on email that came in and the restaurant did reply they were sorry we had a bad experience and will pass my issues to chef and staff. read more

We both had hamburgers and they were cooked perfectly st midium-rare. I had blacken fries and they too were perfect, crunchy on the outside, yet tender on the inside. ... where to start??? Outstanding is good - exceptional is better. I had the raspberry lemonade to drink - WITH fresh raspberries. I was delightful and refreshing. The waiter - Danny - was AMAZING. We were a party of 10+ and he was quick and efficient. I went with his recommendation of Spicy Thai Shrimp for an appetizer and it was luscious. That dipping sauce was kissed by the Gods. I followed with the skirt steak for dinner with roasted broccoli and jalapeño mac and cheese. I finished my plate. For desert, I asked Danny for his recommendation. He had already knocked it out of the park, a dessert suggestion had to be the way to go ... I was right. A slice pecan caramel cheesecake was set in front of me. I wept at the first bite. Others in my party had the Cajun pasta, salmon, creme brûlée, smoked salmon bruschetta, crab cakes, filet tip egg rolls, banana fosters sundae and several other dishes of decadence ... only empty plates were cleared from the table. Heard some good things about this place so we checked it out last week. Service was good. But the food was mediocre. The orange chicken special was interesting. Unique twist. The ribeye steaks were just okay. The steamed spinach with onions was 5 stars for me. Asparagus was overcooked but only had four to shove aside so it wasn't that big of a deal. 2nd visit here in 6 months. We want to like this place but it has issues, fixable issues!!!! Bartender friendly, drinks good but too busy not taking care of area in a timely fashion. 1st table upon entering not cleaned , leftover food, glassware and paid check sitting. Still the same as we left 1 hour & 10 min later. Manager too busy chatting mostly in the entrance to the kitchen which is visible to all patrons. Not helping or overseeing the employees. 1 issue with my very simple lunch that was 'avocado toast'. Avocado and toppings tasted good but the bread that it was on was stale side of bread looked moldy. Manager came and addressed my disappointment. Explained it was blackened from the flame and had no explanation for the stale bread. It was taken off of our bill. My husband did have a perfectly cooked and executed cheeseburger. Perhaps we may stop in at another time but we will have to talk about it. read more

We are from out of town and we were looking for a local restaurant. Found this place here on Yelp and decided to try it. Drinks and apps were very good. We had the crab bisque, crab cakes and the voodoo shrimp. The sirloin however was very tough. The four of us ordered sirloin steaks cooked medium. Another visit, another problem, another save. To be clear, the service and the food are excellent (more on this story later). The "problem" is trying to make a reservation via the link on their website. REQUESTS DO NOT TRANSFER TO THE RESTAURANT! Each and every time we have requested a "booth', we did not get it. The excuse was they didn't get it. So, if there is something you want for your visit, call them directly. I was on crutches when arriving. The young man, Cesar (Ceaser), was attentive, personable and worked to resolve our issue. It was good to see a young person so invested. He is definitely an asset to this staff. Our server, of course it was Lou, fixed the situation and we went on to enjoy some of the best tasting food in a local restaurant. The special was Alaskan Black Cod, fantastic. My hubby had been wanting to try their burgers and he gave it his nod of approval. Our appetizer was the Ahi Tuna (which Lou had turned us on to at our first visit). They also had their strawberry shortcake on the menu. It was HUGE...we split it between us; but it could easily have fed four, lol. Not to forget to mention the happy hour, $5 martinis and my espresso martini (a bit more) are always perfect. So, from vowing not to return due to the poor management of reservations more than once to being happy to return, Grillsmith can thank Ceaser and Lou! And, of course, the FOOD. Great chef! read more

Somehow the name of the restaurant bespoke a larger and more imaginative listing of grilled delicacies than the menu revealed. All four of us found Grillsmith solid but not spectacular and the pricing fair for the region and cuisine. The service from Patrick both prompt and affable. Very helpfully he guided us to what we felt were the better offerings on the menu, and appeared to answer our many "would you order this or that?" questions with honesty. We did not lead us astray. One of us, from the MIdwest, ordered ribs and found them OK. Two in our party really liked the key lime pie. My Pasta Carbonara was fine but not super-special. Patrick helpfully discouraged me from ordering a side dish by indicating that the portion would be quite ample and he was right. Try and avoid the oily, salty breadsticks when they come. Yummy but pointless empty calories. You won't be able to avoid them, but try! One more thing, Grillsmith was packed but honored our reservations with aplomb. Definitely make a reservation. read more

I wish I could give it more stars. The blackened wings were soooooo EXTREMELY SALTY. If it wasn't for the crazy amount of SALT on them they would have been perfect. Love the chunky blue cheese dressing. The meatloaf was good with the mash potatoes and zucchini/squash. The burger was good as well.
