The staff was friendly. Crabs were awesome! I got a dozen large and they were really good!! Price point was average for the area (ranging from $30+ a dozen depending on the size). They had regular, medium and large size crabs. Seasoning was delicious (yummy mix of there own seasoning, not just old bay throw on it!) AYCE available for $38 per person which includes hush puppies and fries. Wide range of seafood to include oysters, snow crab legs, shrimp, scallops, etc. Check out the fried Alligator if that's your thing. I didn't try it but heard quite a few orders for it while I was waiting on my food. Enough booth and table seating for you to eat there comfortably if you choose too. I got carry out but definitely plan on going back soon to dine in. One of my new if not the go to spot for my crabs this season!! I live in Bryan's Road and it is a really a town where there is not much to do, see it shop. My neighbor recommended Grinder's 2 summers ago for crabs and it has been my go-to place for crabs. What's not to love about this restaurant! They're always packed to capacity for a reason. I love her business acumen because she understands demand; that's why they're not open everyday. A friend told me about this place, so my boyfriend and I had to check it out. We LOVE crabs, and were pleasantly surprised by what we were served at Grinders. He added on the all-you-can-eat shrimp option, and the waitress reminded us of the "no sharing" policy while I was helping him remove the shells; not eating them. But, I understood, no problem. The small folding table that holds the tray of crabs was FILTHY! It has to be a chore to keep a restaurant and service items clean, but this was a little too much. I asked the waitress to just place the crabs on our table instead. The hush puppies were very good, but the fries were a waste. I looked around and no one who was eating crabs, were eating the fries. They may want to re-think serving this as an all-you-can-eat side item. Fresh corn-on-the-cob would be a winner in my book! Stopped in here for lunch while traveling. They specialize in crab and judging by the tables around me, people love it. They bring a tray full of crabs to your table and give you a mallet. It looked like hard work but people obviously think it's worth it. I got the fish of the day which was tilapia. Thank you to Grinder's for saving the day! We had ordered crabs this past Wednesday from another place only to arrive and be told they were out of what we ordered and they would just give us females. We called around and were able to get a half bushel of regular crabs from Grinders at 4 pm in the evening (Sunday 5/26) Memorial Day weekend. I'll preface this review by stating: my name is Vonnie and I'm a crabaholic! I try to eat crabs at least once a week and when they are out of season I think about them constantly. I've purchased crabs from every crab place within a 50 miles radius of my home. Last week on a whim, I went into Grinders Seafood. Okay, maybe not on a whim, the other two establishments I frequent either didn't have medium male crabs (my preference) or were closed for some ungodly reason (*gasp). Anyway, to Grinders Seafood I went. The very first thing I notice upon entering is that it is SPOTLESS and the delicious smell of what I can only guess is fried fish and french fries coming from the back! The second thing I notice is the smiling face behind the counter. I didn't get her name, I should have but she said six words that put an instant smile on my face "Yes, we have medium male crabs"! I have to admit, I was expecting to be disappointed in the size and quality of the crabs. My last two attempts at obtaining medium male crabs were a JOKE: mushy crabs-in-training sold for $30 posing as medium crabs. I decided I wouldn't even look in the Grinders bag until I got home. Eight minutes later, I spread my dozen crabs on my dining room table and squealed with glee! Not only were they MEDIUM crabs, they could have easily passed for large in the other establishments AND they were DELICIOUS! I've been back three times already, as recently as yesterday. I even purchased a chicken finger basket for my picky son. I'm pleased to report: same spotless place, same VERY courteous staff and same over-sized crabs. This little jewel on Rte 210 will do nothing to cure me of my crab addiction but hey, you gotta have some kind of vice right? I must admit I was hesitant in writing this review, only because I don't want other people buying up all MY medium crabs before I get off work. One of the best things about Indian Head is Grinders Seafood. A local gem; Grinders crabs are always heavy and delicious. People from far away as Ft Washington and Waldorf venture down 210 for this local delicacy. I first visited on the positive recommendation of a friend. He was right, well sorta. The one knock I've had about my favorite local seafood spot was the cranky old lady that used to work the cash register. The older lady was so rude she forced my wife and I to drive 25 minutes just to avoid her. I'm happy to report that's all in the past. This season, I've been to Grinders three times and Whallah, no cranky lady. Grinders has had a cheerful lady working the register each time. No, the new cashier doesn't dance or sing songs, but she does smile and greet you openly. Someone got the message. It's not too much to ask for your customer facing workers do their best to make each customer feel good about spending their hard earned cash with your establishment. I'm glad Grinders has seen the light and made the staffing changes necessary. Gas prices are too high and your crabs are too good, please don't force me to drive pass your restaurant to spend money with the competition. A smile goes a long way. read more

I came back, as promised, for the AYCE crabs for supper. At lunch, I had asked if they'd be on the menu that evening. I was told 'he' (owner? Husband?) was out crabbing, and she wouldn't know until later. To me, this was a great indicator of the freshness of the crabs offered here. It must've been a good day of crabbing, as they were on the menu. One other person in the restaurant for the same reason as I was. I've eaten a lot of crabs, and many, many times I've received either overcooked and/ or 'light' crabs with inferior meat. Not the case here. I went to Grinder's based on the reviews and because they are fairly close to where I live. I ordered the all-you-can-eat crabs since I love crabs. The crabs had a good taste and were cooked okay except one batch. However, my only gripe was that it appeared they picked the smallest crabs to give me for the feast. I frequently eat at crab houses for all you can eat and this is the first one that actually gave me small crabs. They probably gave me 3 nice size ones. I was disappointed when I left and I didn't leave full at all. I think this establishment is great if you buy the crabs by the dozen. I saw a few tables who ordered by the dozen and the sizes of the crabs were huge. I understand you don't get huge crabs during the feast but I have been to several crab houses where there is a great mix of sizes. I would definitely go back to buy the crabs by the dozen because they looked cooked well and the size was worth the price. I would skip the all you can eat crab feast. read more

The four tiny shrimp were far from jumbo (I fry jumbo shrimp all the time), and there was one tiny piece of rockfish in the box! Brought a whiting dinner from Grinder's Seafood last night and was disappointed. I ordered from them on several occasions and never had an issue until yesterday.
