Came here for sons 8th birthday dinner, August 2. After a 30 minute wait, we were finally seated. The waitress came over immediately and asked how we were doing. We mentioned we were there for our sons birthday as he smiled. She said that's great! Moving on, she took our orders patiently (for a table of 6) and we thanked her so much for her patience. She was very polite and got our drink and food orders right. No complaints about the service or food! I only wish that at the end of the meal they would have kindly brought my son even just a bowl of ice cream with a candle on top and sing happy birthday to him. I knew we mentioned his birthday at the beginning of the meal so I was kind of expecting them to do that for our son, but towards the end of the meal I started to notice they weren't going to and so I didn't feel like sounding petty and asking them again. Really wasn't expecting much from a Tex Mex place with the name "Gringos" but we were pleasantly surprised. Very flavorful food, good salsa, and outstanding customer service. Gringos is amazing! Tortilla soup that I have been craving for 2 weeks came out super cold! I was full so when the amazing waiter Jordan asked how everything was, I said it was fine the soup was cold but we are all good!! I haven't been to this Gringos location in over two years. I convinced my husband to go with our kids this past Sunday. I will start by saying I have always been a fan of Gringos in Stafford but haven't been to the Cyfair location since we moved back to Katy. First, we ordered the queso as an appetizer (with the ground beef mixed in) We were brought a large queso(no meat) we were charged for it though. Second, my husband ordered the vera cruz fajitas(combination, chicken and beef) He was brought chicken fajitas with shrimp. We were also charged for the combination veracruz. Lastly, I ordered the pulled pork enchiladas, I had these before and enjoyed them. I understand that perhaps the menu changed, but I was under the impression the the enchiladas had the pulled pork inside them.(This was the way they have always been) I guess I was wrong. I received cold enchiladas with pork on top. I don't usually send things back, because I have workes in the food industry in the past, but this was seriously bad. We had to wait for an hour to be seated although the restaurant appeared to have empty tables, guess the staff was short. Nice place with pretty friendly staff and pretty clean which seems to be exceptionally elusive here in Houston. We've eaten here a few times now while in town and can say it's not a bad tex mex place but it's not a place you recommend. The food is always slow no matter how full or empty they are. Going for lunch make sure you have a good hour minimum. Dinner, figure on 90 minutes from walk in to walk out. Now the food....bland and almost seems like sysco or preprocessed type food place. Staying in Cypress when I am in town I can name at least two other better choices in the area. If the food and speed were a few notches higher this place would be good. read more

My husband hates Tex-Mex, but he likes Gringo's. They were packed full every night for MONTHS after their grand opening. After about 6 months we finally decided to sit thru the 4hr wait (exaggeration) and haven't stopped coming since. We told the waiter- if you want us to come back, what would you suggest? Answer: Pollo Marisco. Every time we come the food is top notch. The chips and salsa are fresh. The green sauce is amazing. The plates are large so with chips and salsa the one meal is enough to split between two people. The chicken is so juicy and tender you can cut it with a fork. Love their green dip and queso! Fajitas are ok, but it does come with a lot. Large tables for large parties which helps! The playground outside for the kids is awesome when there's a wait. Usually, I would rate Gringo's 5/5 but recently things have been slacking. I placed an order for pick-up on 3/21/19 and not only was my food cold (I was told that my food would be ready in 30 minutes so I arrived around 10 minutes before that and my food was already on the counter) but my rice was hard and I found a long piece of hair in my salsa This isn't the first time my food has been cold or messed up so since it seems to be the new trend I'll be looking elsewhere for my Tex-Mex fix in Cypress. read more

First time going out since masks have been mandated and this place was a great choice for our lunch. Front desk had no issue with us asking for a patio seating and when asked to sit somewhere else in the patio they were okay with it as well. I love this place! I go to this location frequently. It has many tv's around the bar area great for watching sports. I always order the large Patron margaritas and they make them strong and not too sour. They are kinda high at about $17 but they are better than the house margaritas. Let's start by saying there is no signage stating that the restaurant is only by reservation. After learning about said reservations, the hostess was very unclear. They tell me that I have to make two separate reservations but we would all be sat together (table of 9 adults and 2 kids). They then proceeded to tell me that the table that is going to be reserved for us has already been seated for a while and that it should not be an 1 1/2 hour wait. After waiting over an hour and checking in on the table status, the hostess then proceeded to tell me that we would have to wait since there was another group ahead of us (were did that come from?). After finally being sat at two different tables and the manager saying that the restaurant does not allow 11 people at a table, what can you do when you've waited on a lie and are hungry? We are greeted by a very rude waitress,(still do not know her name) when asked about a menu she said it was scan only ( but why then the table that got sat next to us have print outs, (they did not bring them in)), after scanning the digital menu there was no kids menu on it and when asked about the kids menu she said she had to get it and on her way away from the table to get the kids menu said " ah really". The service from start to finish was horrible and the management was no help nor comforting to any solution. If I could I would give this Gringos a 0 stars from start to finish a very bad experience with only mediocre food. read more

I walked in from out of town with my wife and mother for sunday lunch and they told us 45 minutes wait. They took my phone number and said they would text me when our table was ready. We went to the bar to order some drinks and they texted me like 5 minutes later. I paid out with the bartender and then they took us to an awesome booth with a cool view. Our servers name was Patrick and was a nice young man. I had the Taco Salad and I must say all the ingredients were very fresh. Usually something like that will different ingredients you will get something off but it was all fresh. Whatever type of green sauce this is that they are serving with the salsa is like cocaine. It is so good we didn't even care about the salsa we just wanted more green sauce! I put it on my Taco Salad. My wife and mother both liked their drinks and Patrick was very attentive to us. Yes they are very busy but you gotta figure out a way to get that booth!! They had these t-shirts that said "Make fajitas not war" and I thought that was just fantastic. I honestly don't know what the big deal is about this restaurant. It's always so crowded, but the food is NOT good. I've tried it on three separate occasions. Each time, either the food was lacking in flavor...bland, but was salty (rice, beans, meat...everything) or my order wasn't complete.
