Unfortunately there is no time to tell them because they whizz off and don't come back until they drop off the tab. Somehow they managed to give me very fatty pork (instead of chicken, the other white meat) because I tried originally to eat it and say nothing only. I must say coming from South Carolina and going for Mexican the food was amazing! I got the seafood dish with shrimp and crawfish and I must say it was the bomb! The place was packed at 3:15 in the afternoon on a Saturday but the restaurant was packed and the ambiance was incredible. I will say the only bad thing I saw was the seaters didn't take into consideration we were 4 large people and put us in a booth so we were very squished. Big gringos fan - have gone to every location in houston area. This location started off good but has fallen off with the long wait even after being on the wait list, called, and then having to wait because they took so long to clear tables. When they first opened, I would've given this place 4 stars for the cleanliness and customer service. Recently, this location - even when we get sat, the tables/booths have been dirty and table sticky. The servers are mostly friendly - but we have had some hit and misses. Our kids love Gingo's and we enjoy a fair amount of get togethers here. My wife and I really have been pretty neutral as the comparisons of other similar places invariable involve eating the menu items too. Anyway this past Friday evening the food was very good as usual but our service was spectacular. We didn't wait too long because we had reservations but would caution that otherwise you will wait a very long time. It's that popular and I believe because the food is excellent and service is top notch. Can't go wrong with any of the menu items. I am partial to the Mariachi--yum! Gringo's in Cypress is our go to TexMex restaurant. We go one to two times a week. The food is always excellent and reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and attentive. Let me reiterate - the staff at Gringo's are GREAT! One of their current featured dishes is Pollo Mexicali. It is delicious. I recommend going and giving it a try. Other dishes are also good including their fajitas and combination plates. I've never been a cheese enchilada fan until I tried Gringo's version. You can never go wrong here and if one day it seems that way...go back. Everything is fresh and over the top. If you get Avocado on any meal ask for extra as they do go a bit light on the Avocado. Green sauce is not the best though their dishes are phenomenal and no wonder there is usually a wait during peak hours but we'll worth it. What's not to love about Gringos?!? Their green sauce is to die for, their food is overall fresh, and don't forget about the free soft serve! I usually order the Rosita combo plate which is no longer on the menu, but if you ask them, it's still available. This location gets very crowded during dinner on the weekends but if you come during lunch, it's a bit more enjoyable (no wait and less noise). I only wish they weren't located so far out! read more

Asia was a fantastic server. I think this was the best experience I've ever had dining out thanks to her amazing customer service skills. Just enough questions while also allowing us to enjoy our meal. The special touch was asking everyone's names and continuing to remember when addressing us through the meal. Up sold us on a fajita for two chicken, steak, and shrimp which ended up being delicious. Food Went to Gringo's after a long period of time. First thing we noticed were the chips tasted different. If I recall Gringo's and Jimmy Changa's both had a light colored and freshly prepared tortilla chip that was warm and light in taste. What we were served was a dark, pre-packaged tortilla chip out of a box that tasted like cardboard. Who at corporate decided this was a wise decision for cost cutting in order to boost profits? Bring back the OG chips. The rest of the food was average / acceptable at best. Nothing I would ever go out of my way for, so many better Tex-Mex options in the Houston area. I'm a Gringo's connoisseur lol! Having grown up eating at the original location in Pearland, I will say that this one was up to par on the quality and accuracy of their food. However, unlike the original the service here was lacking. Our waitress Taylor forgot to bring several requested items to the table after being asked several times. I believe she is a good waitress, but we maybe having an off day so we cut her some slack! I ordered the Amazon wrap with combo meat and it was super delicious to say the least. I don't have much to say or complain about Gringo's because it's pretty much fast casual Tex-Mex. I suggest whenever you sit down to ask for Amazon sauce in place of the green sauce. This place is always packed. I went there and there were 13 parties waiting so I decided to leave, but learned you can get on the waitlist before you go - either via their website or the OpenTable app. We headed to the restaurant when we were #4 in line and were seated right away. The service was amazing. Our waiter went over menu and brought out our drinks right away. He checked on us throughout our visit and was super friendly. We even got a military discount because he noticed our military ID when we were paying. I also got a piece of tres leches cake for my birthday. Gringos is a gringos. They really have made their food as consistent as any fast food place. While it's impressive there may be a thing or two you might have missed. One gringos does the best job of combo plates. They really have some varied options to please just about anyone.Second they have a hotter salsa at the bar. You can request it for your waiter. Third be carful of the special plates. The veracruz adds shrimp to your fajitas, but they take half the fajitas off. If parties need to check in when they arrive after being on the waitlist you should probably include that in the text message. It's ridiculous to sit for over an hour and a half waiting for a table and when I ask about the wait time the response is "well did you check in?" How are we supposed to know that. The hostess was incredibly rude and did not care for how long we had been waiting. I'm not the only person this has happened to tonight either. Overall experience was just ok and not a good place for vegetarians. I came for dinner with my family who is all vegetarian. While I do appreciate that they can make almost anything vegetarian on menu, they do not seem to be used to the idea and messed up most of our order. My whole family decided to order veggie enchilada, but each person had a different request (different sauce, different veggie item to remove from their usual mix, etc.) Somehow they messed up my entire family's orders! My mom had to wait about 10 minutes after they gave the rest of my familiy's dishes out, because they had messed up the sauce she requested. They gave me Mexican rice on my dish when I had requested none (which they took back to the kitchen to remove). My sister had requested no corn in her enchilada, which they did not remove. And the waitress completely forgot to bring my dad a side of beans with his dish even though we reminded her. Overall, the veggie enchiladas tasted better than they looked. Their Mexican rice is made with chicken broth, which is fine if they would offer a replacement for the side item. I did not appreciate that they charged an additional cost for replacing it with something else for vegetarians. This meant that our enchilada plates looked empty when we received it. At most other Tex mex restaurants you would get lettuce/tomatoes, beans, and some type of vegetarian rice on the side of your enchiladas. They literally just gave us three enchiladas on a plate. This review is from dinner at New Years Eve at Gringos. My family decided to go to dinner at Gringo's for the first time at New Years Eve since we were all free. When we arrived, we were greeted and put on the wait list. The wait was supposed to be 15 minutes for 4 people so we waited in the waiting area. Twenty minutes later, I went to the front to ask when our time will come. After the waitress took a minute to look at her tablet, she said you cancelled your name off the list. I reassured her my family was waiting for the last 15 minutes and did not cancel my name off the list. She told me the wait time was now going to be 20 minutes more since she was going to add our name back on the list. Right as she added my name back, our number printed out and our table was ready. I assume this mistake was due to the high level of stress and number of people who were waiting. After being seated, I ordered the strawberry lemonade and we waited for the waitress to come back. The strawberry lemonade tasted like lemonade mixed with the strawberry syrup used in the strawberry margarita mix. As vegetarians, we were happy to hear they could make anything on the menu vegetarian. We then ordered 3 cheese enchiladas with vegetables with ranchero sauce and 1 cheese enchilada with veggies with tomatillo sauce. After 25 minutes of waiting, they came out with two wrong plates. One with the wrong sauce and another with rice which we did not want since it was cooked in chicken broth. We also did not get one black bean with came with the enchiladas. The picture attached is how my plate looked right when it came out and it did not look appetizing. The cook came out to personally apologize which we appreciated. Overall, I will give them slack since it was a very busy holiday. The enchiladas seemed very average meaning I may be back in awhile to try another meal, but hoping the customer service gets better. read more
