Chips & Salsa: Bland and forgettable. You get better at a chain. Queso: $10 for nacho cheese in a coffee mug with a spoon. Seriously. Tableside Guacamole: The one win. Fresh, creamy, 5/5. But let's be real -- it's hard to screw up avocados, lime, and salt. Spicy Strawberry Margarita: Watery, zero heat, tasted like strawberry syrup and regret. I've had gas station margaritas with more soul. Mains: My shrimp tacos were just... fair. Dry shrimp, nothing memorable. My friend's brisket taco came without sauce because they were "out" at 4 PM on a Friday. The place was dead. How are you out of sauce before dinner rush even starts? Today we decided to give this restaurant a try for lunch, and we were not disappointed! The restaurant is located right next to the Waterway, offering amazing views and a relaxing atmosphere. The drinks were fantastic. I had the hibiscus sangria, and it was absolutely delicious. For lunch, I ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos, and they were excellent. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. The restaurant was quiet during our visit, so we had the place almost entirely to ourselves, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Everything was so good, and we'll definitely be back. Food was decent, nothing special. The biggest standout was the salsa. Fajitas were ok, fish taco was a little dry, quesadillas didn't have much flavor, margs were good, our server seemed a little distracted, kept filling tea and lemonade with water, messed up our fajita order, we wanted to split fajitas for 1 but she brought fajitas for 2, so much wasted food, we were not heading home and couldn't take leftovers. Will we go back? Next time we see a concert at the Pavillion, maybe, or just drive a little further to Lupe's. Food is much better there. read more

Came here for a lunch. We didn't have to make a reservation because it was a weekday lunch. They brought us chips and salsa right away which was delicious and made to perfection. Service was nice and friendly. I had a power bowl with ahi tuna which was ok. Definitely wasn't amazing. However, portions were huge, definitely Texas style. We shared the happy hour empanadas and fajita chicken tacos as appetizers. We also shared the medium fajita combo (steak and shrimp) which comes w/ all the sides and we each received our choice of 2 sides. We definitely had enough for leftovers the next day. We had reservations for another restaurant across from Cyclone Anayas and unfortunately we walked out before ordering since didn't feel welcome. Our group of 4 found Cyclone Anaya' s to be exactly what we wanted for brunch. Set next to the Woodlands waterway, they have the most comfortable seating. Our orders were taken quickly and they even offered a birthday song for EM at the end of our meal.Their tres leches dessert is absolutely delicious. It was perfectly sweetened with real creme on top and enough to share for 4. Their tortilla soup was over the top with avocado , tortilla strips and cilantro with the right amount of spices. Dejavu moments were coming due to this restaurant sits at the Ironman Texas finish line where I used to shoot as media over 10 years. While in the woodlands decide to check out this spot. It definitely had a great view of the canal with turtles and ducks That's why I decided to sit outside which was a good move. Started out w complimentary chips and dip which is always welcome and delicious The entree I had was the beef and chicken tacos with the side of brussel sprouts and garlic spinach. The tacos were nothing special & the garlic spinach stay away from that but the brussel sprouts were great and the server was very understanding and nice. He subbed out the garlic spinach for a side of the beans he recommended which were excellent. I recommend the beans and the brussel sprouts for sure. I might have just been hit or miss with the soft tacos. I would definitely say this spot wins on The view and the service I might have just caught him on an off day as far as the tacos are concerned, but if I'm back in The woodlands I'll give it another shot and try some of the items but I would definitely get those beans and brussel sprouts for sure read more

Wonderful experience here with our exceptional server Cody, whose charismatic personality made our night. We loved the outdoor view along the side, and enjoyed a couple of jumbo margaritas (I got the "Mardi Gras" with BOTH sugar and tajin on the rim). Pretty good queso with velveeta flavor- the salsa was superb!! And then shared the beef fajitas with a side of shrimp- that was the move. The service was slow. It was slow and throughout my whole meal I did not get a refill. I had to ask another waiter to come bring me a refill. Also, the quality of the food was not good, and the portions are small. it is definitely not a Mexican restaurant I would recommend. The view is great but that's it. First, it's my own damn fault. I didn't carefully review our itemized bill when the waiter showed it to me on the handheld device he recorded everything on. So, as a result, I failed to see the "large party" 20% tip ($43.90) that was automatically added for 4 adults and 3 (well-behaved) children. I then keyed in what turned out to be an additional $30 tip when the "suggested tip" screen came up. Final tip total: $73.90 on a dinner that totalled $220+tax. I plead guilty to being an old-school country rube that took our son & family out to dinner and got burned by trusting that such an automatic charge of 20% would be clearly mentioned. I get that now and that's just the way things are. But a nagging part of me thinks the way it all was done wasn't honorable. read more

Extremely disappointing experience last night. We arrived with two young kids and were told it'd be a 20-25 minute wait even though there were so many open tables. After 35 minutes, they made us wait even longer until we started to leave, then they finally sat us. The food was not great, lacks flavor and spice. They gave us a chicken quesadilla instead of plain cheese for my son, kept forgetting things. Just an awful experience all around and for the price the food was not worth it. Cyclone Anaya's was a nice place to eat on the waterway in The Woodlands! I always love the atmosphere here and it's in the middle of the downtown Woodlands area which means you can enjoy a nice dinner and go for a walk after. Overall my experience here was good and the food was enjoyable and worth coming back to visit again. We came here to celebrate an occasion and were greeted and seated within about 20 minutes. The good thing is if you need to kill time while waiting for a table, you can always go for a walk on,the river walk. The food here is good but unfortunately I can't say it's exceptional. The recipes are the standardized "gringo" version of Mexican food and in my opinion it was slightly salty but the portions were good. We ordered for the fish tacos, the summer special, the Del Rio and also the chicken quesadillas. All the food was good and was served rather table rather quickly. **I would like other patrons to be aware of an disappointing situation that I think the restaurant needs to improve on communicating: We had requested two small bowls of the queso for our free tortilla chips and found out at the end on our bill that we were charged $11 PER BOWL, which was never originally clarified by the waiter and is exceptionally high-priced. The ambiance of the restaurant is comfortable and the layout is nice and not too loud in here. The staff is very courteous and attentive and provided a great service! The restaurant offers the option of both indoor and outdoor seating so no matter what the weather is you can find comfortable table with a nice view. Overall I give Cyclone Anayas Tex-Mex kitchen a 4 out of 5 stars with note of the high cost of the queso balls being too high. The entrance definitely transports you as you descend down the stairway into the restaurant. Now if only that same meticulous effort was put into some of the menus items they have a small menu selection, which might work for some but not all. The margaritas are something you CANT MISS. But the food left A Lot to be desired. We ordered the Botana platter the worst thing on the platter was the southwest eggrolls please go back to the drawing board on that one. Next the quesadillas that chicken was dry and there was barely any cheese to be seen let alone taste. The floutas were really good especially with the lime sauce. The empanadas were delicious what they left to be desired was the size of them if I was 6 years old that would be the perfect serving size, however as we all know I'm not a 6 year old boy and they really need to adjust the serving size. We asked for more chips and our server literally said " I'm not trying to get murderd so I don't know if they will be warm" look I get it the kitchen is the backbone to the restaurant however as a guest at the restaurant I do not want to be clued in on the kitchen drama. He also stated that "Mexican food is heavy and it makes you want to die" as a fellow business owner I would be fuming. read more

I popped in here before a show at the pavilion a couple weeks ago, and I've been wanting to say something. The location and design for this restaurant is incredibly charming. From the street, I was definitely hooked by the style of the unassuming entrance leading to a small room with an elevator and stairs that came from a Dr. Seuss book. I was alone, and sat at the bar. I'm a former bartender and I can promise you; if you want to test a place, eat at the bar. You'll see and hear a lot if you aren't glued to your cell phone. My bartender was great. Had my chicken tacos came out any faster, they'd still be clucking. Good flavor, nice portions. My God, the chips and salsa were excellent. Our server was busy so we decided to ask the bar if they could help us. When we asked for help they told us to find your server(who was busy at the time) and solve it ourselves. I didn't feel it was proper for me to chase my own server down well he was serving other tables. I then asked another server if they could help me find my server who promptly fixed the mistake. This review is mostly based on their food, as the service was decent and the server was ver attentive even though we went at a busy time. The chips tasted a bit stale but at least they were warm. I ordered the enchiladas and I regret doing so, there was barely any meat in them. No flavor, no seasoning, basically tortillas drenched in salsa and cheese. The rice was bland, and the beans were fresh out of the can! The fun part came after we left when my stomach was pretending to be a washing machine. Really ran out of places to eat on a Friday night in the Woodlands that had a nice view. Came here; and it was decently busy at 10pm. Parking was done at the mall garage across the street. The food here was very average quality and quantity and you're paying for the riverside ambiance at this point. Service was also a little spotty.
