This Location was AMAZING! I brought everyone my family here for my daughter's 12th birthday today. I honestly thought I had picked the Stafford location but honestly, I'm sure glad I did not. Big difference The staff was very hospitable, pleasurable, the drinks were on point, food was hot and great. Usually, I remember no one even when I want to, but today I did. I believe the host who answered the phone repeatedly for me name was Jasmine if I'm wrong I'm sorry, but she was great very attentive and receptive and helpful. The manager Eddie was very accommodating. Our Server Josh was the bomb! I think the other manager also chipped in with supporting his staff but helping bring drinks to the table along with other staff. I have 0 complaints. You can tell when a restaurant is being managed properly/well and their staff is supported by management and their team members. I have done it all, managed, served, bartend and when you have you can be certain observant to a lot of things and can have lots of understanding but also know when a place will not get your business again. Finally made my first visit to a Gringos restaurant and Sugar Land was the closest location. The restaurant is very popular and was full with a long waiting list by six o'clock. Our party of 7 arrived at 5:15 and was seated within 15 minutes. There were plenty of staff so there were no long waits after being seated. The dining experience started with a Cadillac Margarita (four star rating) was a very well balanced drink. The food was served hot and everyone was happy with their choices. I had the steak enchiladas with an Avocado Salsa. The steak was well seasoned and tender. The salsa generously covered the entire dish had the perfect amount of spice and flavor. Steak enchiladas earned a four rating with the salsa giving it a great boost. However, the accompanying rice and charro beans were a solid five. read more

Dined with a party of 7. They don't take reservations so they told us to arrive before 6p on a Saturday if wanted to beat the crowd. 5:30pm arrival was perfect, no wait. Food: The red salsa & creamy green salsa with the tortilla chips were both full of flavor. They weren't spicy so I asked for hot sauce & they brought me an additional red & green sauce that had more of a spiciness but it was still subtle. Regardless, all 4 sauces were super flavorful. I ordered fish tacos which came with grilled, not fried, fish. The avocado & coleslaw toppings with the tacos plus the avocado sauce (which is 1 of 4 sauces you can request) made for a good tasting fish taco. You can substitute vegetables (zucchini, squash, peppers, mushroom mix) instead of beans & rice. Well seasoned veggies They accidentally gave me rice anyway & to my surprise it had great flavor. I usually just ignore the rice when I eat Tex-Mex. Also, the charro beans had sausage & green peppers in it, again very good. Everyone in the party enjoyed their food which included taco salad, steak enchiladas, steak tacos, fajitas, & seafood enchilada. What an amazing team at this location. It is by far my favorite restaurant. The staff is always friendly, kind and eager to assist with anything needed. My most prolific moment is watching how well all of the staff work together along with the managers handling all of the task with ease. We had a large party and MARIO was simply amazing. He made sure to provide recommendations and handled all specific accommodations as requested. He would consistently check to make sure we were okay and celebrated one of my friends with the traditional GRINGO"S Birthday chant. Rebecca was absolutely amazing. Watching her maneuver on the one leg bike in and around other staff speaks volumes of her character and willingness to lead an amazing team. All of the food was delicious, fresh , hot and pricey. Well on that same note it was surely worth the price. This place is probably the most reliable restaurant for me in this area- service and food are consistently good. It does get busy at dinner time. I tried something new this time, the chicken taquitos from the appetizer menu but made it a meal by adding rice and beans and queso. Really liked this! Came here for a friend's 50th birthday. Our friend who organized the lunch came an hour early to decorate our reserved section (3 tables) and our waiter Milton actually helped her. He was very patient and kind with us and worked hard (he was our only server). Our helium balloons escaped to the ceiling and he even stood on top of the counter and retrieved them for us. We tipped him extra on top of the added gratuity. I got the enchiladas suizas. The best I've had in town are from El Tiempo (comes with 1 or 2). Here it comes with three and costs the same as El Tiempo. It was good but the rice was bland and the food cooled too quickly/didn't stay hot long. Love that there's complimentary soft serve. Halloween 2025 at Gringo's Sugar Land was such a treat! They offered free meals for kids in costume, which made the night extra special. Our server, Andreas, was absolutely on point -- friendly, attentive, and professional. He asked if we were Tex Mex Insiders (their loyalty program), suggested appetizers without being pushy, and nailed our order perfectly. Our chip basket stayed full, our water glasses never went empty, and he treated me and my son like VIPs -- even though we were probably his smallest check of the night. Service was 5 stars by the wait staff on a stormy evening. Ambiance is family friendly, casual and good for groups. For a local chain restaurant this had a family feel. Lots of families w kids and older adults, handicap friendly. Food was overall good--if you're a fan of Tex Mex you'll probably like this. Skip the sugary drinks and maybe ask for sauces on the side if you're not into queso. Green dipping sauce for the tortilla chips is always a favorite. We waited over an hour for our food and were still waiting with no clear update or sense of urgency from the staff. Long waits can happen, but what made this worse was the lack of communication no explanation, no time estimate, nothing. When you come out to eat, especially at a restaurant like Gringo's, you expect better service and at least some consideration for your time. This visit fell far short of that expectation. I kept hearing about Russell Ybarra and his amazing restaurants and decided to try it out. Went to the Stafford location on the Southwest Freeway. The service was great, very attentive, was told about their loyalty club and joined it. My wife had the tortilla soup and really liked it, very flavorful, some of the things like tortilla strips, rice, etc. were served on the side to be added if you wanted them. I got the beef fajitas, a very generous portion at a fair price. The fajitas were very good, liked the taste of the marinade. Beef prices have really been going up for both beef fajita meat and brisket, glad to see that they have not taken advantage of it like some of the competition. We also really liked the tortilla chips, served warm, not too thick like some of them are. Also a choice of two great sauces, both the green tomato and the standard red sauce. Both were very good. Party was 4, myself (mom) my husband and two daughters. (11 and 16). Suggestion: Please tell your hostess to wash her hands in the bathroom for 30 seconds before returning to work. What I saw today was nasty. But she's a hostess, so I didn't say anything. Rest of the restaurant: I always have an amazing time at this Gringos. But today blew me away. The food was above and beyond delicious. I don't know who's A team was in the back cooking but they were on it this evening! The bar made me a watermelon margarita. It was with the basic taquilla and still they somehow made it taste top shelf. I had it on the rocks and it was the best margarita I've had in a LONG time. The managers made frequent rounds making sure the tables were good and the wait staff didn't need extra assistance. Everyone was on their game. It was what you'd expect from a 5 star restaurant! All that was amazing but the person who prompted me to write this review was our writer Josh. I use to be a Hooter girl and I'm now a school psychologist. I say this to say I know how to wait tables and I know how to watch people's behaviors. Josh was so on it. Food was out fast and hot. Two bites two minutes, he's rushing over asking how is everything tasting!? Constantly attentive, never let our drinks go dry, every time he came to the table he either was delivering or taking something out of the way. Many times he looked over at our table while waiting on another table to avoid disturbing us but still stayed attentive. He pre bused the table at the end. It was all of that and more. I have not had service this good in a long, LONG time. I have gone to SEVERAL high end and wanna be high end "Instagramable" restaurants where I'm paying $85 a plate or a tab for just myself alone hits around $110. The food and especially the service are no where near as good at those places as we had today at Gringos. Bravo and hats off to Mr. Joshua. I don't know what you plan on doing moving forward in the future but if you can split your attention and wait on several different people's wants and needs getting them right at the same time, and with a smile on face, take it from a former Hooter girl lol you're going to make big things happen. Listen, this place is AMAZING !!!!! Probably the best Mexican food in the area. Come here for a cozy fun vibe that is family and KID friendly. Service is stellar , our server was Eduardo he was fantastic. The green and red salsa was a hit with my 1.5 year old kid who was dipping her fingers in it and licking it off ! There's just something about their thin thin tortilla chips dipped in the green sauce. It's glorious. I have ordered take out from Gringo's a number of times during quarantine and they have yet to disappoint. My go to has always been the mariachi plate (chicken enchiladas, southwest eggroll, and beef empanadas) but sadly this is not currently available with the limited menu. I have opted for the burrito con queso. As the name suggests, this is a burrito covered in queso. Being lactose intolerant, I substitute for the chile com carne sauce and get the burrito stuffed with chicken instead of beef. It is fantastic. The tortilla is sturdy but soft. The sauce soaks into the burrito. The refried beans are so well seasoned and the rice is moist. As previously mentioned, I can't forget about the chips. They give you a generous portion of chips and salsa for your to go orders. I sure miss the atmosphere is eating in a restaurant but this will have to do for now. read more
