My husband and my son went to Gringos at 4:00 pm on a Friday waiting for me to get off work at 5. When I got there at 5:45 my husband was having his second drink which was a skinny margarita, like we always get and had ordered me one. He was also eating queso and chicharones. We were planning on having dinner at the bar like we always do. My husband had only one tall beer and the skinny margarita (2 hours later). My skinny margarita was horrible. At 6:10 my husband ordered a regular margarita and when he did the bar tender, Vanessa, told him this was his last drink because he had equivalent to 4 drinks. We have been coming to this Gringos for 5 years and have never been cut off from there or any restaurant or bar. We are not young but certainly know are limits. On top of that, I ordered a small mango margarita that didn't even taste like mango. It was terrible and I didn't drink it because it was so bad. Needlesstosay, we will not ever come back to that Gringos again. We are not ones that to go to a restaurant and get drunk nor bars for that matter. We were completely surprised by Vanessa's actions. I'm at the gringos off 59 and 99, this is one of the best gringos that's in the Sugarland Richmond area the manager Martin is so sweet and he makes sure that he's always available for any problems that you may have. The staff is wonderful they're so polite and nice. I've been coming here since this one opened and I've been through a lot of managers and I must tell you they've all been nice, but Martin is extremely nice. The food is always delicious and the camaraderie is great so if you wanna come out here join me any day of the week for lunch or dinner and I assure you that you will have a great time and great food read more

Such a cute location. Seems like a smaller location, though not a problem at all, with such a cute, updated look. The Chicken Tortilla soup was fantastic! Get the bowl. Not the cup. Stopped by for what turned out to be a pretty solid weekday lunch. The two tables salsas that came with the chips were decent, if not average and lacking any real spice. After asking for something with more heat, we were given some of their bar salsa, which had a much better and hotter flavor profile. Their Border Sampler was a great option for us to try a lot of their different offerings. The egg rolls and quesadillas were easily the best of the bunch, especially when eating them with the bar salsa and Amazon sauce that was provided. The taquito and nachos weren't bad either, but definitely a step below the rest. If that wasn't enough, we then shared the Plato Soldado as a main course. The enchiladas were especially tasty and thankfully they did allow for a change to the dish in case any was needed (dietary restrictions). We ended with the churros, which were very good. A nice crispy texture and a good amount of flavor, with a solid set of accompaniments as well. SALTY. Worst experience ever (again) I thought it was just one item, but it's happened to me several Times with several dishes. It's salty. Unbearably salty. I went with a group of coworkers. We made reservations, but when we got there we were told it'd be an hour wait. I asked for a booth to accommodate a group of 7 to 10 people which was done. The food is good and the portions are big. The best is the chips... very light and crispy; not like the typical chips at other times places. The only thing I would change is how they bring out the tortillas for your fajitas. We had 5 people in the group and they would only bring out two servings of tortillas at a time and we constantly had to wave our server down ... eventually our meat got cold. They have been open since 4 pm today. First day. Had to stop. Quick seating even though they are very busy. So far very impressed. The green sauce is very VERY spicy in this location. We were impressed with how smooth it went despite it being only 3 hours into their grand opening. Our server,Laurean, was friendly and attentive. She kept our drinks full and checked on us periodically throughout our dinner. We ate fajitas that were fabulous. Grandson got shrimp fajitas! The shrimp was enormous and tasty. Others had chicken fajitas. Delightful. The citrus punch is awesome. Very glad we stopped by to celebrate the grand opening. 9/29. Update. Service and staff attention are impeccable. Great spot to grab a drink, I'm sure happy hour is awesome. Met a buddy there for lunch and it did not disappoint. The place is vibrant, well decorated the hostess was pleasant and our server just as good. Had a frozen margarita and it was soooo good. I've had my fair share of Tex-Mex food, and Gringos surprised me. Food tasted fresh as if all was made from scratch. it's good to see more gringo's locations around so that people can get their tex mex fix! service 9/10: the server was very pleasant and attentive. i would say that she came often to check on us a good amount of times to where she wasn't coming every 2 mins but also didn't just leave us after the food came out. food 7/10: i got the chicken enchiladas and my gf got the chicken fajitas. they were both pretty good and the portions were huge. my gf got the fajita plate for one but it could've easily been shared. overall: if you're in the area and craving for some tex mex, gringo's is a pretty average place to check out but i've definitely had better. the only thing that keeps me coming back are the chips and salsa read more

Went with friends and arrived at 5:56 pm. After we were seated and the waitress came to us, we asked about Happy Hour and she said it was now closed. Yet, we had arrived before 6 pm! When she took our orders I mentioned that I hope they were not out of the pecans that come with their Cozumel Chicken salad. Waitress looks at me as if I didn't know what I was talking about and said, "Of course it comes with the pecans." I told her that in two previous visits (at another Gringo's location) they were out of pecans. So guess what? When our orders came, she serves my Cozumel salad saying, they are out of pecans! I looked at her and simply said I don't want it! She nearly rolled her eyes at me! I don't understand why she didn't let me know they were out before bringing my salad! On December 2,2021, I went to Gringos on 99 and 59. I was seated at a table. The waiter we had was a young man name Louis Alvarez. Louis Alvarez made sure our drinks always stay 3/4 way full threw out the whole night. Louis Alvarez went out his way to make special enchiladas for my son which weren't on the menu. Louis Alvarez came by and constantly checked on us and made sure everything was fine. My daughter chicken nuggets were over cooked. Louis Alvarez noticed and went reorder her chicken nuggets to replace the chicken nuggets she had. Louis Alvarez has been the best waiter we have ever had at Gringos. The management at this location is a joke. I placed and order online meaning to order at the staff of location which I've never had a bad experience with, unfortunately I placed my order at the sugarland location. I quickly called before the time it said my order would be completed and let them know there was a mix up and I would need to cancel my order. The manager refused to cancel and refund my order because he stated they already started making it. Now granted I understand and in the event of a large order I would understand how this issue would be handled but for a simple wrap you would think management had the common sense and decorum to refund a wrap. The manager however was adamant that he could not refund my order because the food was ready. However when I got to the restaurant I still had to wait over 15 minutes for my drinks. It gets worse the location is out of cups and the Togo server gives me three kids cups of my drink with no ice instead. Once again seemingly small problem but I literally ordered ice tea who drinks ice tea with no ice? Management had an opportunity to rectify things and instead chose not to. Food has been good every time I go there to eat. Also, pick up orders as well have been on point.

We were seated quickly enough, but it's been five minutes and we haven't been waited on by any of the staff standing around. Finally had Kelly show up and she explained there was some kind of miscommunication and that the waiter who was supposed to cover our section was leaving, but that she would take care of us. We always order one of their combo meals and split it. I get the "cold" plate and my husband gets the "hot" plate. USUALLY and according to common sense, we always get these two plates at the same time...when we go to any of the other locations. Not so here. I got my plate and my husband had to wait another five minutes for his. We couldn't wave down our waitress because she never showed up in between. I understand there were miscommunications in the staffing and seating, but this is ridiculous. The food was banging, as expected. Their taco and chalupa shells were crisp (which is unusual for this chain of restaurants) but the chips were stale (also somewhat unusual). It isn't as is the place was understaffed, either. People were standing around staring into space, oblivious to the work that needed to be done. We went to lunch here following an early afternoon doctor's appointment. It wasn't a late lunch. It was just after 1:00. The place was clean and NOT crowded. We sat in a section with at least a dozen other empty tables. This rating is because of the crappy service. AFTER I pay, I'll try to find a manager. BECAUSE he or she cannot fix a problem they are unaware of. And I'm not looking for a freebie. The service was the problem. read more
