Have had so many good experiences here since ownership changed, but the past few times have been a let down. 55 plus minutes from order until food came today. Restaurant was busy and our order was taken quickly but the staff just didn't seem to be working efficiently on the line. Seemed like there were plenty of people working just not sure what was going on. Past 3 times the subs have been mid, with non crispy/strange tasting bread and Inconsistency on the toppings. Disappointing I hope the grom can turn it around we really love this place!
We stop in here every so often for their breakfast. You order at the counter and then they bring the food to your table so think quick casual. Portions are large and everything is super tasty. Would recommend for smaller groups as the place is not too large. A locals spot for sure.
I have been twice now. Once for breakfast and then again for lunch. The Samoan breakfast burrito is very tasty! I do recommend. I had the chicken salad wrap for lunch. I tasted too much of the cream cheese spread. It was okay, but my boyfriend got a sub and his sandwich I thought was more tasty than mine. There is a secret menu available. The location has parking, but this place is a beach hotspot, so parking maybe limited during lunch hrs, especially on a Sunday. Cool indoor vibes. Looks like the quintessential beach restaurant. Service staff are helpful and friendly. But the breakfast burrito remains top tier.
Came for breakfast, and it was delicious! Fland's Favorite was the main reason we chose here and it did not disappoint! It's a generous serving, prepared fresh, and absolutely delicious. The restaurant is fun and unique, though a bit small, so I'm sure it gets packed during peak times. The music was entirely too loud though, especially for 8am. Our server was so sweet and kind, and they had a "college fund" tip jar for the servers, which definitely indicated they are supportive of their young staff's future endeavors. All around - we enjoyed it and would come back!
I really liked it here. I love all the sauce choices on each table. The Mary Jane wrap was so tasty and I like that it comes with a side here, where the other Angie's does not. I have also been for breakfast and that was tasty as well. Definitely will be returning when I'm craving a sandwich.
Really unfortunate experience the past two visits. My husband and I loved coming to Grom and frequent this restaurant before football on Sunday mid mornings, however the past two times have been all but outright bad experiences. I didn't Yelp the last time bc I didn't want to jump to a bad review but now that we've had the same experience twice, it's becoming a pattern and sadly, we will likely wait awhile before returning. Ordered at 11:31 and heard another cashier telling the people next to us that food is taking about 30 mins right now. We placed our order and walked down to the beach for about 20 mins, came back and food didn't come out for another 35-40 mins, it took just under an hour for two subs. I want to give the benefit of the doubt that they were busy as it was a beautiful day but seemed to be poorly operating. There were a ton of staff working just all in disarray and not handling the rush well. Also, food quality has diminished the past few visits. This time, my sub was totally wrong but I didn't say anything for fear of waiting another long period of time for the right order. They were also out of Diet Coke, some chips people were asking for and tables were super sticky and messy. We love this local spot and hope they can turn around and get back to the Sunday spot we know and love.
Grom has been a local favorite of mine since 2016! I love coming here before or after going to Jax beach, it hits every time. The Peruvian is a classic, it has salami, ham, Cole slaw and cheese. Their new chicken Philly was also really good. If you like a little kick in your food, try the Amarillo sauce with the hot Peruvian. It adds a little spice but it's not overpowering. The restaurant has a cute surf theme and is pretty spacious. The food comes out pretty quick, and the staff is also friendly! Definitely recommend Grom:)
I got to eat Grom as part of a catering package at a training event. We had Cuban bowls with rice and beans, plantains, and pork. The flavors and sauces were incredible!
I tried Grom for the first time recently. In my first experience, my niece's husband walked from the beach and brought us back breakfast. If I had gone on my first experience, the stars would have been low. Note to self: Don't order avocado toast unless you are dining in, and especially not during a heat wave;) My second visit was a few days later. I was back at the beach for sunrise. This time, I drove to the restaurant after leaving the beach. The decor was cute with a dive vibe. There was a Sorry board game and an old TV with a built-in VHS player. Talk about old school. My friend and I ordered breakfast. I had biscuits and sausage gravy with scrambled eggs. They grilled the biscuit, which I liked. And the gravy was yummy and seasoned well. I also enjoyed the scrambled eggs with cheese. I would definitely stop in again for breakfast. Next time, I think I'll try the fried chicken biscuit.
My husband loved his chicken biscuit w home fries, but my aunt and I were not in favor of the avocado toast. They dropped the ball with that one. The toast was very soggy and not toasted, there was green peppers when that wasn't listed on the description, and the eggs on the side we got were not cooked correctly. The only good thing I tried was the plantains! They were tasty. I hope for the future of those wanting avocado toast, they toast the bread, or make the avocado toast on a more durable piece of bread!

Not impressed. Originally came here looking for brunch but I was a few mins late. Settled for a salad. Smoked chicken was dry and old. Wanted to love this place so much, but very underwhelming. Love that this def has a local beach vibe. read more

Some friends and I wanted to get some good breakfast and we stumbled across this unique and delicious restaurant. The restaurant was extremely busy but they sure move quickly! You order your food and then find a seat to sit and enjoy your delicious meal. read more
Think: elevated stoner food. Honestly, I was surprised by how much we enjoyed our food at Grom. Such a hole-in-the-wall spot, but their flavors pack a full-sized punch! To anyone going to Grom for the first time, I can't recommend their shrimp enough. Specifically the shrimp sliders and the Mary Jane wrap. (I did also order a pimento pork slider. While it was pretty tasty, it just couldn't outshine the freshness and sweetness of the shrimp in our other food items. But it deserves an honorable mention.) We love Grom! Anytime we are visiting Jax Beach from out of town we come here. This trip we've come twice. Great food, friendly service, relaxed beach vibes. Love it! Yesterday I had Biscuits N Gravy with chicken and my husband had the Volcano burrito. Today I had the breakfast tacos with Garlic Parm Homies and he had the shrimp n grits. All so good! Also taking home a bottle of their Peruvian Gold sauce. read more

What a cool beachy spot. The food is delicious. It's been on my list to try and I finally made it there today. It will definitely be a repeat spot for me now. Fast, friendly, efficient and awesome service by everyone working the counter and bringing out the food. Always a smile and making you feel welcome. Chork burrito was awesome again (it's my go to, highly recommend). Weather was perfect to eat at one of the outdoor seats but we ate inside to enjoy the music today. read more

Very inviting scenery, Food was good. Lots of sauce options which we enjoyed. Fried plantains were amazing. There was also games to play and interactive coloring books for kids to use while waiting for your food. It did not take long for everything to come out, definitely recommend read more

WOW!!! During this quarantine I haven't gone out and tried new places very often, but am I happy I tried this place! I saw the $1 special for the Bang Bang Shrimp Sliders on their Facebook and I figured why not make the 30 minute drive to the beach for them. I ordered 3 sliders with a side of fries. It was way more than enough food. Whatever sauce is on those sliders is magic. I inhaled those things. The fries are thin cut and very good! They recommended I have the sliders with a side of ranch and it was delicious dipping them in ranch. One thing I didn't try but I will definitely get next time is corn nuggets. I bet they're just as amazing as what I had today. I can't wait to go back to this place and be able to take it to go and sit on the beach. Hopefully that's sooner rather than later. read more

The Volcano was amazing. I love spicy food. It was tasteful and not overly spicy so even if you're more of a medium heat person, you'd be good to go. The service and atmosphere matched the quality of the food, which was hard to do. Great place and plan to go back in a few weeks on another trip to Jax Beach. read more

I have been here a couple times and was never really wowed. I had the shrimp and grits before and the boring plate. They were both good, but I've had better. I was looking for a good Sunday brunch spot on yelp. Read a few reviews and saw the tacos. They are the #1 seller so I decided to give it another go. HOLY COW my mind is made!! 5 stars. You order when you go in, then seat yourself. It's pretty busy so we got lucky and found a spot immediately. The wait was maybe 5 mins to get our food? Speedy and friendly service! I got the bacon tacos. You get an order of two and a side. I chose the fruit which was a cup of pineapple. The fruit was fresh and tasty. The tacos are generously topped with all the fixings, and the flavors work together beautifully. De-lish!!! I was full after eating just one. My friend got the home fries. They were topped with grilled peppers and onions, and he got a side of ranch. I'm not a home fries person at all but these were amazing!! I will definitely order those next time. Side note- Their sweet tea is also very tasty. Says a lot coming from a southerner lol! For the price, this food is unbelievable. It's truly a unique creation, and I cannot wait to go back. read more

A hidden gem at Jax Beach. Don't let the nondescript front dissuade you. Inside you'll find a very cool surf shop vibe with great service. Order at the counter and choose an inside table or limited outdoor seating. All the breakfast selections look great. We tried the breakfast tacos and the biscuit sandwich. Both were excellent! Definitely worth a stop for breakfast or lunch. read more

Not ONLY this spot is open for breakfast and lunch but ALSO for D-I-N-N-E-R along with brewery and wine! They have extended their hours Friday to Saturday to 9pm!! So those of you hungry after a good swim at the beach in the late afternoon/evening, this is your chance!! After meeting with Ryan about changes they've done with the menu, I'm very pleased with their dinner selection! Both dishes I've tried got better and better with every 'BYTE' The Dado: This amazing sandwich was juicy and tender with each 'BYTE' You can select a choice of side which I chose my absolute go-to CORN NUGGETS. I usually get it with ranch but Ryan changed the game with powdered sugar and let me TELL YOU...GAME CHANGER The Cajun Shrimp & Grit: This delicious dish is made with homemade grits and topped with andouille sausage gravy, jack cheddar cheese, sautéed spinach, cajun shrimp, garlic butter, cherry tomatoes, and chives. Everything tasted amazing from the creamy grits, the combination of the garlic butter and cheese, and the cajun shrimp. 4 stars = Exactly what you're expecting, Angie's subs toned down a little. "Grom" is short for "grommet" which is a surfing term for a young menehune surfer (Hawaiian for "dwarf-like"). Pushing surfer vibes upon the innocent Jacksonville public, this establishment will crave your tunnel vision desire for a sub sandwich or wrap. You can't go wrong with the tropical Peruvian sandwich, especially if you top it off with more of the "secret Peruvian sauce" that is famous at Angie's. Grab a sweet tea and then get a refill. You'll be ready for another surf session at the pier. You may not find too many tubes (ie barreling waves) to ride in Jacksonville, but the food here will keep you energized to continue searching for them. read more

Some of the best memories here! Jax beach classic. MUST GO. Right next to the beach. Great staff and a cozy inside. Always has a Disney classic VHS playing - such a comfort thing. My favorite is biscuits and gravy, add chicken. Kids portion is plenty ;) read more
My sister and I went to the beach last weekend but when a storm rolled in we had to leave. We were looking for places to eat in the area and she remembered Angie's Grom. She had been before and said it was great. I was very hungry and thought about ordering a 3 slider combo but glad I didn't as 2 was plenty. I had the Peruvian and the pulled pork with potato salad. I wanted to try the reuben slider but they were out of it that day. My sister said that their gold sauce was incredible and I would have to agree. I put it on everything including my potato salad. When I was ordering I noticed a pan of brownies, very large brownies. I thought about it the whole time I was eating and decided to get one to go. We shared it later that night. It was very, very good. If you are near Jax beach give Angie's a try. You won't be disappointed, I promise. I will definitely be back again and again. read more

I'm new to the area and like to frequent local establishments to support small businesses. This was my first and last time at Grom. Its very disappointing. I ordered a sausage and egg breakfast sandwich which I waited about 20 minutes to get. I did not notice until 2 minutes down the road that the sausage was missing see the picture and a very small amount of egg. Also, the home fries were greasy and tasteless. read more

Why haven't I been back in such a long time beats me but I am going to make the effort to be back soon! My kids loved that they have a regular old school tv and video cassettes so they could watch the old Disney movies which was a plus after coming here on a Sunday super hungry! The pancakes are so cheap that may be the other reason I will have to return as well. Each kids meal was under $4 that is un heard of these days!! I've come here before and the sandwiches are bomb not to mention that big ole cup to go for tea, which is also delicious I mix mine half sweet half unsweetened and it's just....yummy!!! Also wonderful and friendly staff. I liked that there was no mask pressure. It's been a whole year we are in 2021 it's time for people to gain their freedom back. If you want to wear it that's fine but I'd you don't that's fine too. Will be back here probably again for a Sunday brunch!! read more

Get the Peruvian Sandwich! It's their most popular and it's absolutely delicious. Their meals are plenty for two! The shoe string French fries and sweet tea are possibly my favorite in the 904. The unique decorations from photos of employees and random knickknacks always catch my eye and are great conversation starters. Plenty of seating and clean bathrooms. read more

We were driving through Jacksonville Beach and stopped here for lunch. Very friendly counter service. I decided to go with the special. A brisket burrito with Mac n cheese. It was good but I felt like it needed a bit more brisket. Rice and beans were very tasty. My boyfriend enjoyed his turkey sandwich and French fries. The restaurant seems to do a very steady business. read more
There wasn't anything that I didn't like about my lunch at Angie's. Expecting a crowd on an early Sunday afternoon for brunch, we went anticipating a wait. To our delight and surprise, the crowd was small. We ordered at the register and grabbed a table outside. I went with the most popular slider duo - the Peruvian and blondie with a side of yellow rice and beans. This little $7 meal was outstanding and very filling. Can someone say Peruvian sauce?!?! I got it on the side but I quickly knew that I wanted to slather it on everything on my plate. The famous Peruvian sandwich has ham, salami, bacon, and Italian sausage along with that delicious sauce. This sandwich was bursting with flavor. On the surface it may seem like a minor variation of an Italian club but the sausage takes this to the next level. The blondie was filled with a fried chicken tender and I got the spicy ranch on the side. I'm glad that I got that dressing on the side because the Peruvian sauce was all that the chicken needed! Clearly Angie's and Angie's Grom are known for the sandwich combinations but don't sleep on the sides. The yellow rice and black beans had very well developed flavors. We were very impressed by this place. I'll be back to enjoy more of their brunch and lunch options. read more
Very tasty, local, and divey spot in Jacksonville Beach. I love coming here for a quick bite to eat whether it be take out or dine in. I'm not a huge fan of sandwiches so I'm biased towards this restaurant over the sister restaurant, Angie's Subs. My go to here is the Mary Jane Wrap, the juicy chicken contrasting with the crunchy, fried shrimp pairs impeccably and I love the unique sauces that are offered here. You must try the Peruvian sauce here and the sweet tea is delicious as well. This place gets really busy on weekends so expect a little bit of a wait for dine in or just get it to go. The interior of the restaurant is worth seeing though because it's as eccentric and divey as it gets. Overall a really cool spot that I would take anyone to that's visiting from out of town. read more
Still my go to breakfast/brunch spot! For lunch I love the maryjane wrap which is bang bang shrimp and chicken with a coleslaw type filling! It has the perfect amount of sauce, crunch, freshness and spice! I'm still a fan of the amazing spinach feta wrap too! They have outdoor seating and many people bring their dogs to hang outside while they eat! read more
Great sweet tea. It's got a smooth and deep flavor, not too sugary tasting. Just adding sour cream and scallions makes a world of difference in the beans and rice. I ordered 3 sliders, a Reuben, a blondie, and.....I can't remember what the last one was. It was one of the specials. The fried chicken was tender, and the breading was well done. The coleslaw complemented all the meats well. The buns were also soft, but thick and supportive. read more

Visited here after a typical Sunday morning of visiting God's house and asking forgiveness for being such a glutton. Very unique little beach side breakfast/sandwich shop that seems to have a cult following of regulars. For us it fit the bill for a quick breakfast bite but didn't seem as fabulous as some of the recent reviews. Orders are taken at the counter and when your food/drinks are ready they holler your name and bring the grub. Compliments on the Mimosas as they were a nice ratio of champagne to OJ. The missis had the Avocado toast with eggs which were nothing special. If you are going to serve this dish you preferably need both an out of this world Avocado spread, which they didn't seem to have, or at the very least you need a fabulous piece of special bread. Theirs was served on a piece of white bread which brought no flavor to the party. I went with the Shrimp and grits plate. Again, an OK meal but seemed to lack much flavor. This place seems to serve folks on their way to the beach. if I were in that situation I'd probably stop again, but otherwise I wouldn't go too far out of my way. I heard so much good things about this place. Today I had to go out to Jax Beach and they were the first place I thought of for breakfast. Man were the reviews spot on. I got the breakfast tacos and grits. Everything was delicious and fresh! read more

Arrived to Jacksonville after a long drive and noticed this place had great reviews on Google. Well, the food is mediocre and lacked seasoning. Personally don't think it's great but it did the job just to put something on my belly. Service was great, friendly staff, and ambiance is good too. I think if the food had flavor, I would return. read more
