I asked the guys in the barbershop and they said that this place was good. Who am I to disagree with the Most Important People in the World? The place is kinda hidden if you're not familiar with the area, so don't give up if it's hard to find. They have a very eclectic taste in decorations, with a boars head on the wall, but I dig it. I ordered the Dirty Grom with a side of corn nuggets and it was the best $10 and some change that I've spent in a long time. This is a warm sandwich with roast beef, smoked turkey, mushrooms, bacon and their peru sauce. I don't know what's in that peru sauce, but it must have a little bit of molly sprinkled in because I instantly started treating it like my precious like Smeagol. I still be a little loopy because I swore there was cheese on it because it was so "cheesy"...damn sauce. The corn nuggets were also amazing. I wish I would have tried them when I first got them instead of waiting until I got home, but everyone makes mistakes. The staff were cool, the food came out quickly and was delicious. Been coming here for years. Leaving this review because I'm concerned. The new owners are no doubt excited about their new endeavor. That's great. But the saying you shouldn't fix things that aren't broken applies here more then ever. A few observations... 1. The menu and ingredient changes are subtle but they're there. Some of the the things I've always liked aren't so good anymore. The new coach, for example is now just sort of blah now. 2, And what's with the smaller beers and no bottles? Whatever hotshot MBA came up with that idea should go back to business school. Yeah. Your squeezing some margin but you might consider the cost. 3. And why remove the bike racks? I know hardly anyone bikes at the beach but still ... SARCASM for those who might miss it 4. And Grom? Why change the name? Did Angie's Subs send a cease and desist? 5. And overall? The service isn't so great. Longer wait times and stuff not in stock. I know. The same everywhere but hey, you all knew this when you bought it. So we're long time beaches residents who always loved coming here. This is our cry for help that we're losing a Jax Beach icon. With outside seating that is dog friendly. The inside has a nice family atmosphere. The decor is old retro feel. The decor is suppose to have swear and tear. The inside is kept clean. When I drove past Angie's Grom it did it did not look like anything special from the outside but when you walk in it's absolutely darling! Surfboards hanging from the ceiling and fun knickknacks everywhere. We walked in at 10:55 so we had a tough time deciding if we wanted lunch or dinner; we picked lunch and boy was I happy I did. I chose the three sliders which were BLT, Fried Shrimp and a Pastrami Reuben. All three were delicious but in order of my one to three, number one was fried shrimp, number two was the Reuben and in last place but still delicious was the BLT. Hubby picked the Mary Jane Wrap which had fried chicken, fried shrimp and boom boom sauce. I have to say winner, winner chicken dinner!!! I wish so bad I had ordered the Mary Jane. French fries were good but I filled up on the sandwiches to be able to eat more than a few. Angie's Grom is the sister restaurant of Angie's subs, both out at Jax Beach...I have to say I ship both of them! They are so kitchy, local, and just serving up some good food! Going into both it's like going to your crazy cool Aunties house, packed with stuff and people. You order at the counter then they bring the food to you, we went for Sunday brunch and they were very busy. Menu looked great, bunch of breakfast staples, one was called the boring breakfast which made me laugh cause that's exactly what I think of the traditional egg/bacon breakfast, they also offered more lunch items which is where I typically look I ended up getting the breakfast tacos upgraded to shrimp, came out looking great and tasted even better! Egg and shrimp with a the traditional taco fillings all works! Dont walk, run to this locals joint! It may not look like much from the outside but this place is a gem. I recommend trying their best seller Peruvian angies way. You won't regret it. They also have the best fried corn nuggets and the fries are perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Also can't forget about the sweet tea! My friend ordered the Avocado toast with two eggs over easy. The avo toast came with little tomato's on top and some feta cheese and then had two eggs sunny side up. I got a Sammy called " your wife" it had roasted turkey, provolone cheese, slaw. I enjoyed it on wheat bread with fries. I know so heathy... This place is small in size but packs a big punch. It's my wedding weekend (married on Friday) and the husband and I wanted a good breakfast. So glad we chose to eat her. The staff is super friendly and the menu has you all over the place (in a good way) trying to decide what to devour. We chose the breakfast tacos with sausage and the biscuits and gravy with the chicken bites added. The sausage gravy was so flavorful and the biscuits held up, up under the gravy mountain, then there's the added goodness of the chicken bites perfect golden brown chicken pieces to further explode your taste buds. The breakfast tacos were amaze-balls. There is a whole mexican fiesta going on in your mouth with every bite. Peppers, onions, eggs, and choose of meat all in a soft tortilla. A beach road theme mashed with a hunting cabin theme = I have no idea what to look at! The decor exceeds eclectic. I saw the reviews and decided to pop in for a sammie to go- on my way to a doctor's appointment, I wasn't in a huge rush- but enjoying the meal would depend on how fast I got it. I ordered the hammered pig which is a boneless pork chop deep fried with Cole slaw, pickles and aioli. It was a large portion, Cole slaw was great, meat was served hot. It definitely needed more aioli because the sandwich was very dry. All in all it was a good sandwich reminded me of the old time German delis in NYC. Not crazy about the fries. read more
