Let's admit, pizza preferences are rooted in fond memories. If you want a cheesy gooey thing, then Grottos is quite fine. They added a wild mushroom pizza with a combination of baby portobello, Cremini and white mushrooms, marinated in cream and spices. It's topped with sautéed onions and a special blend of cheese. The Grand Slam has plenty of TVs for sports and nice local brews on tap. Super fast service at the bar. Great waitstaff. Descent pizza for what it is. Grotto Pizza is a staple whenever we visit Rehoboth/Lewes. The web-like drizzle with the flavorful crust and sweet pizza sauce is what we usually remember from here. Good pizza. Not great but really good pizza. This visit to the location off Shady Rd was the first time we have tried their appetizers, such as the onion rings, fried ravioli, and parmesan truffle dipper fries, and both were really good! My toddler loved the truffle dipper fries. I am not sure if it's the flavors or the shape of those fries but he's usually quite picky and I haven't seen him gobble something up so quickly. This location has gone through renovations and I was fooled that it was one of the newer locations when in fact it was one of the original ones. What do I like about Grotto? The pizza. Yes it's not NYC style but it's good for the beach. Add cold beers and its perfect for a get together of adult siblings. Their cheesesteaks are good too. When we have bought the kids, they too have enjoyed the food. Classic beach place to grab food with family and friends. read more

Pizza Hut Vibes! Hard pass for me! Would not recommend, even though there's a million and one Grotto's along the boardwalk, still a hard no for me. The look of the restaurant, taste of the pizza, smell of the pizza, the cups, the plates, the silverware, everything. Pizza hut in the 90's vibes. As a previous reviewer said, the pizza comes out soupy. The sauce is watery. The cheese taste cheap, like the cheese on a frozen pizza. The dough is tough. I stopped in because my friend said I absolutely had to try Grottos because it's a staple. *Side eye* I'm not sure how they're still in business. On a Sunday afternoon we were one of only 3 parties in the entire restaurant and you guessed it ... service was still very slow. We tried the Baker's Choice which is pepperoni, extra cheese, mushrooms, sweet peppers and onions. All of the things I LOVE on a pizza. Here, everything taste like it came out of a can, the ingredients didn't taste fresh at all. If my eyes were closed and I took a bite I would have thought this was a frozen pizza. Food was very good as normal and we are glad to see that they kept the games with the renovation. We sat near the games and could barely hear my fiancé talk to me with the sound of kids screaming and playing. I would suggest a door into the game area to limit the sound. Be careful when you order. Grotto is mislabeling the sizes of their pizzas to make customers feel better about the money they are spending for mediocre pizza. An "extra large" is a regular 16 inch large pizza in any other pizza place. Grotto should be ashamed of this ploy. read more

My first and LAST time. I ordered a Large Pizza to feed my family. I was handed a 12" frisbee of a pizza for almost $20.00. I can't feed my family on two slices worth of pizza for almost $20.00. Turns out the personal pizza is even smaller. Never again. read more

Everyone said I needed to try Grotto if I was coming to Delaware for vacation. People warned me it wasn't amazing but suggested I give it a shot. Overall, it's not the worst pizza I had but it is definitely salty and pretty basic. The biggest pro of this place is they deliver, which a lot of pizza places in the area dont. read more

I visited on 10-02-24, 2:30pm, at the take out store. Walked in, no one was at the counter. Yelled hello but no one heard me. So, I decided to use the time to review the menu posted on the board. I turned around and found a worker at the cash register actively using the cash register. I was the only customer in the facility at the time. I say, "Hello." The young man looked up at me and did not respond. I then say, "Can I place an order?" His response, "Yeah." No "hello" or "may I help you?" I responded, "I've changed my mind" and I walked out. This restaurant (especially this location) will always have a special place in my heart. It smells the same as it did 25 years ago. The arcade is so fun and the popcorn machine is cool. Grottos is a staple in the Delaware area. Definitely a good option if you're at the beach, since people say it tastes better at the beach. The dough was nice, cooked in the brick oven. The cheese and sauce were awful though. They use like a cheddar cheese which is disgusting. I do like the sauce on top but the cheese destroys the pizza. This is speaking for all grottos, I'd recommend just going to a small family owned pizza shop instead of a chain. The wings were alright. The mild sauce didnt have a sweetness to it more of a Tabasco or Frank's red hot feel. read more

This seems like a popular pizza chain in DE, but I wasn't that impressed. This location has arcade games for kids, then an eating area with a few tvs. It felt very run down and old school. I did appreciate that they had Coke Zero available in bottles, and that all of the pizzas were available in the individual size. I ordered the Classic Margherita which had plenty of chopped tomatoes but the cheese was sparse and rubbery. I asked for red sauce on the side, and it seemed very watery. I will say the server was nice. But I don't think I would return to this or another Grotto location, I've had better frozen pizza at home. read more

I ordered buffaloed cauliflower. How difficult could that be apparently for the grotto people it's really hard.. They sent it to me in a "cup". A freakin cup... by the time the food got to me the cauliflower were little balls of grease. Dripping grease!!! Totally disgusting. So I finally got to try the Delaware staple known as Grotto Pizza. After having it I really have to wonder why there is such a fuss over it? This is okay pizza, but I feel like it's not great enough pizza to warrant the many locations that exist. Everything about the pie itself is decidedly average. Nothing is unique about it (except its sauce swirl). In fact it reminds me of the pizza commonly served at kid birthday parties, of which there are many of those at this location. This location is in need of an upgrade. There's arcade games which seem very out of date, a floor plan that makes no sense, and the worst offense being that the bathrooms are basically falling apart. That being said service made up for it, and I didn't have such a bad experience there. But I can now say I'm not a fan of Grotto Pizza, dare I say they're an elaborate chain of tourist traps. read more

Sooo welcoming as I am an out-of-towner visiting regularly. Superb servers who are friendly and know that out-of-towners need a little more TLC when visiting. You cannot get a better pizza anywhere....that I'm aware of, and it is memorable! Their customer service is truly what a resort town needs!
