    large cheese pizza
    Judy N.

There were too many restaurants on the Rehobeth Boardwalk. We picked this place because of the huge outdoor patio. Also, I need to hop on the Grotto Pizza bandwagon. I've been to Rehobeth many times but haven't had their pizza before. I tried the cheese pizza and it's good pizza. The crust is firm and the tomato sauce is sweet. We had a couple of picky kids in tow and they eat that pizza. And mac & cheese....which I think came from a box? For $4.99...not worth it in my books. But in their book, it's amazing. One star down because service was subpar. The server forgot to bring us water until we reminded her in the very end when the kids were getting thirsty. They also got our bill mixed up with another family's. Not too important but the female bathroom is gross. Just gross. But I am a fan of the pizza.

This use to be one of our favorite places to come when we visited Rehoboth. We always enjoyed sitting at the bar, watching people walk up and down the boardwalk, while enjoying a cold beer and pizza. If you never had Grottos pizza, your missing out on that wonderful thin slice pizza with a generous amount of their delicious sauce. The beer was cold, which is saying a lot in 95 degree weather and a heat index of 105. The service today was less than we are use to. The're were two bartenders, one left frequently leaving the other by herself to manage a full bar of patrons. With that said, service could have been better. While having time to sit and observe things while waiting for my next drink and pizza, I realized how the bar area was also being neglected and could have benefited from a good scrubbing and an extra pair of hands to put things away. There is a single female bathroom that was utterly disgusting and judging the condition of it, the only thing of importance might have been making sure there was toilet tissue and emptying the trash. TP is a plus! The toilet, floor and sink looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. If the weekly cleaning schedule on the back of the door was any indication, I'm right. It's over a week old and no notations were made on any hour of any day about its maintenance. It made me wonder what the kitchen looked like. Well, it is a beach (boardwalk) establishment, and some may be more forgiving because of it, but for me, it's still a restaurant and should have health and safety standards to maintain. For that reason and the average service they recieved a 3 instead of 4 starts.

Apparently this is a Rehoboth beach staple, but I'm from Jersey where I eat the greatest pizza on earth. So I'm a tough critic. I enjoyed the pizza sauce-- had a bit of a sweetness to it.

Delicious pizza, okay customer service, but plenty of locations on and near the boardwalk to dine-in and carry-out. Grotto's is a bit pricey compared to national chains, but unique in both taste and appearance. There are specials, but if you don't want the soda included in the bundle, just get the slice, it's cheaper ($3 vs almost $6).

Worst. Cheesesteak. Ever. This picture was taken after two bites. Two bites of the saddest little cheesesteak mankind has ever known.

Went here after relaxing on the beach. Good stop. Def a little dirty and sandy but to be expected from a popular beach lunch location. Maybe they could whip the sand off of each chair/booth after each party eats. I got the Stromboli, pretty good. Nice and crispy but a little crispy. The grottos calzone was the best item ordered. Large calzone, so delicious. Beer was served in a nice large cup. Stayed nice and cold. The sausage grinder was good as well. Meatballs seemed to be ur normal microwaveable ones. Cheese could have been more melted. But still good. The fries were delicious!!! Perfect amount of crisp and salt. I appreciated their initiative to save the turtles by de promoting the use of straws. Classic beach stop. Of course will be back. Shares bathroom w the bar next to it so it was kinda gross, could be kept cleaner.

This chain is littered everywhere on the boardwalk, but rightly so. The pizza is delicious. We ordered a small single sized pizza for our family. Between the cheese and sauce it was perfectly balanced. We also had some gelato there as well. Can't complain, it fulfilled all of our needs.

Completely refreshing. Dined on the sweet dreams wood fire pizza, a ny style thin crust, (mmmm), topped with only cheeses, mozzarella pecorino, fontina, Parmesan, sharp provolone, ricotta, fresh garlic and thyme. One of the best white pizzas I ever had. Wood fire makes for a deliciously crispy crust. This delicious pizza was enjoyed with a flight of local lagers, and pilsners. Sour tomato vinegar disaster. 2) Meatballs were cold. 3) Salad was an embarrassment. Just lettuce. 4) Pepperoni pizza was brutally overcooked. Sent back. I ended up sharing my wife's margherita pizza, which was no big shakes. 120 dollars later (even after they took off my pizza) we left hungry. Seriously...nothing was good. Plus...I'm not sure what was going on inside but it was brutally hot. All in all, I won't be back for a while. A long while.

I call them my $ 40 cookies, this time they were $ 50... cost of inflation, I understand. I like the chocolate cream cheese $ 11 / lb and the chocolate covered macaroons $ 17 / lb. Both are delicious and always the same, which is good. I also bought a package of Crostini Italian crackers, $ 5. I brought them back home, opened them and was almost sick to my stomach, they smelled awful. I took a bite and spit it out. I looked at the expiration, it was 12/21/2025. I called the restaurant, as I was now 3 hours away from Rehoboth. I spoke to Charlie the manager. She was rude at best. When I explained to her that they wre expired, she went to the shelf, returned, and confirmed that they were expired, and said she was sorry and she would refund me the $ 5. I then asked her why I was overcharged for a box that was 1/2 macaroons and 1/2 chocolate cream. She said they are categorized as "assorted cookies" and the fee is $ 18 / lb!! She said next time I came in..... I replied that I also run a business. That I was already charged for expired food, and felt that I was OVERCHARGED for cookies. I stated it would be good customer service to offer to refund $ 10 for the overcharge of cookies, since I was already sold expired food. (Not sure how Delaware state laws handle the problem of selling expired food.) She then said I was "disrespecting her" and hung up!!!!! This is TERRIBLE customer service. I'm giving 2 stars due to the cookies being delicious. Next time, each different cookie will be in a different box, so I'm charged properly for the poundage.
