You place your own order with a touchscreen at the counter, which makes for a long wait in line. The food was pretty good, but the prices were more in line with a full service burger restaurant. The food is great, but for a short order burger joint, the wait is more in line with a sit down restaurant (but without the seating to accommodate all those waiting). We think we're going for a quick bite to eat, and the wait time is 30+ mins AFTER you order. They have one cook doing the orders one at a time. The place also feels dirty with overflowing trash cans. I'm not sure what's taken me so long to write a review of Ground... I've been here about a dozen times and rave about it to my coworkers all the time. Ground is tucked into a small unassuming strip mall in Cool Springs, near the Puffy Muffin. The setting is simple and clean, much like the mural style menu on the wall when you walk in. Aside from a few pre-planned menu items, Ground is known for their build it your way style burgers, baked potatoes, and salads. There are probably 15 to 20 toppings to choose from including chili, sautéed mushrooms, grilled onions, cinnamon and sugar, red peppers, pico de gallo. The list goes on and on. The staff here is incredible. They know me by name now, and I get greeted every time as if we were friends outside of this burger, potato building/creating relationship. I've never had a bad meal here. And maybe it's because I get to design what I eat, but Ground gets a lot of credit because their burgers and potatoes are on point. The potatoes are cooked through yet still moist. And the burgers are juicy, thick and full of flavor. I've only ever been here for dinner, and it's rarely crowded. I could imagine a busy lunch crowd though being so close to all of the business parks in the area. read more

Ground delivered what I expected. This is a strip mall, casual, quick burger place with lots of options. The veggie burger was the highlight and they even have kale salad too. Fries are a must! Crispy, plentiful,perfectly salted, hand cut and a treat for your palate. Service at counter and staff friendly. I got the hamburger that is cooked in metal cooktop but wasn't crispy on the outside ( I guess I mean browned correctly) and was soft. The bun is uninspiring and very thick. The lettuce was crunchy and other condiments good. I just wish the patty had been browned to make for a much better burger. The atmosphere is pleasant and family friendly! W came here because of the great reviews but really disappointed. I.asked the guy taking our order what Waygu beef was and he said it's better than USDA choice. He also.said the fries were really good. We took him at a his word. I ordered essentially what was a bacon burger and specifically said "well done" but it had pink in there and was dripping blood. I went ahead and tried it. Just being honest and maybe it's just cuz I'm a redneck and not a food critic but I couldn't tell the difference. The fries had black pepper on them but again, nothin to write home about. The kicker was my wife had a burger and fries too (same experience too) and our total was $39! Always the best. Love this place. It's so good! Service is always friendly, and quick. I've been here at least 50 times and the guys always genuinely care. Everytime I'm here, regardless of how busy they are, they always talk to people and ask them how they're food was, that just doesn't happen any more and I can't express how much I love to see customer service is still a thing in the food world. We had a party of 8 come in like an hour before close. The two guys working did a great job cooking and hustling. I got the whisky burger. I didn't like the onion straws they were chunky.I was expecting them to be thinner and crispy. The bbq sauce wasn't my favorite either, but the burger itself and the bun were very good. I loved the sweet potato fries. They have a fun applesauce type dip that pairs well. I got some ranch to dip my burger in. It was incredible! Clearly house made and so good! Someone else in my party got the fried pickles and they were a hit. They bread and fry them fresh. The baked potatoes were a little tough but good flavor. The spot is small, but big enough for several tables and I like that you can watch them cook your stuff. The wallpaper and the window have good name placement. I would come here again. read more

Holy cow! The food here is epic! Came here just before closing on a Friday night. I ordered the Jordan's bbq bacon burger - loved that they use Benton's bacon - with fries and a drink. My bf ordered the pioneer burger with fries and a drink. The color changing, plastic cups were neat! The fries were well-seasoned and didn't require ketchup for me - which is rare. The bbq bacon burger was amazing - very messy to eat, but so worth it! My bf loved his pioneer burger also! They had college football on their two TVs. I don't know if we caught them in the process of remodel or what, but the walls didn't look finished? This won't deter us from coming back though! The food is great but the dining area and customer bathroom were gross yesterday. Wiped our own tabletop and the paper towel I used came away nasty. Dirty footprints on the dining room floor, pee all around the bathroom floor, the handle on the exit door was sticky. It made me wonder if the kitchen is clean?! Ground is an excellent new restaurant in Cool Springs. They serve burgers, salads and baked and sweet potatoes that offer a variety of toppings. All burgers come with your choice of fresh cut fries, potato or salad, and all dressings are homemade. You can order a specialized burger or create your own with a plethora of options to add to it. Since I'd been working outside and sweating all day, I decided to pass on the Four Alarm burger this time, but will definitely get that on my next visit! It is ground with jalapenos and jack cheese prior to cooking. I opted for the bacon and portabella mushroom topped with cheese and caramelized onions. My burger was perfectly cooked and flavorful. It was a very large burger, certain to satiate the largest of appetites. I selected the house salad as my side with green goddess dressing. The dressing was tangy and wonderful, and the salad was fresh and a healthy compliment to my not-so-healthy burger. To be a new restaurant, the party of 8 we sprung on them were all very pleased with their food, and it was delivered in a timely fashion. I love when restaurants opt to do a few items really well instead of a huge menu done in a mediocre manner. I cannot think of a better place in Franklin to get a burger! My wife and I stopped into the Cool Springs location for lunch while we were in town from DC for a wedding. I wholeheartedly recommend stopping by for a burger and good hearty comfort food. Joe and his staff could not have been nicer and more accommodating. Being our first time in, they gave us their personal recommendations and answered a variety of questions about the menu. My wife has a complicated allergy. She's allergic to all things corn - i.e. cornmeal, cornstarch, and even beef that's fed with corn. Sadly, she couldn't eat the beef burger. However, Joe knew his ingredients through and through, and cooked her up a great turkey burger and fries. I, with no allergy issues, was able to enjoy the awesome Four Alarm Fire Burger and loaded fries. While we were there, the guys chatted with us about 90's rock music and recommendations for our stay. It was a thoroughly enjoyable stop. We'll definitely drop by again the next time we're in the area. read more

We showed up 10 minutes before they closed so hungry and they didn't bat an eye at serving us snd telling us to take our time eating. We talked some March madness and water parks with Teddy. I had the Swiss and mushroom burger, my husband had the bbq burger and my daughters had cheese and bacon burger and they were amazing, cooked perfectly and just tasted so good. We are in the area house hunting from out of state so just happened to stumble upon Ground. We ordered take out tonight, which my husband picked up and brought back to our hotel to feed our hungry kids. We ordered the family burger pack which came with four sides (we chose fries) and was a very generous portion. We had to toss about half of the fries because there was just so many! It also came with a salad to share. I ordered over the phone because we have an allergy and I wanted to be sure it was noted. The employee that took my order was polite and patient, reading my order back to me perfectly. I added a kids grilled cheese for my picky toddler. It also came with a huge portion of fries and was priced a little too reasonably actually. I would've expected it to be a couple of dollars more at least. My husband picked up the food less than 20 minutes later. It was ready to go and was packed with all of the condiments and burger fixings we could possibly want. Came here with a former coworker for lunch. We were greeted by a guy wearing gloves who gave us the menus, took our order and tried to cook our food wearing those same gloves. I asked him to change (after all he touched the menus, counter, money and etc). We both ordered burger and fries. The burger was very average. Nothing special just a burger that I continued to taste through the day. I never in my life burped as much as I did that day. There is nothing worst than tasting your food after you burp - just in case you don't know it doesn't taste the same when it went down. My former coworker didn't have the same burping experience but she also stated she tasted her burger throughout the day. I really don't see myself going back. The older person behind the counter began our interaction by acting as if our presence in the store offended them. The sheer hostility emanating from them was so sharp that if looks could kill, I would not be here to write this review today. We soldiered through to place our order on the kiosk, being first-time customers to the establishment, and then went outside to sit at the tables available, which were filthy, by the way. We waited an appropriate amount of time for our food. My next interaction was no better with my same service counterpart @ Ground. I asked for napkins, and with an eye roll, I was directed to the rolls of paper towels as if I should have known that this was standard at the establishment (sidenote: there are no paper towels outside the tables). Again, it's the first time, and even if not, I don't believe it's my fault if someone hates their job, and I only wanted some napkins for messy burgers, not a bad attitude. The burgers were fine. Ground, located in Cool Springs off Carothers near Puffy Muffin, is in the old Jamaicaway spot. I'm always up for some variety for weekday lunch, so my friend and I headed over to try it out. You can order starters, burgers, baked potatoes, and salads, or build them custom. It's a sparse and casual setting, but it's clean and friendly at the same time. No frills, just locally and regionally sourced ingredients and good food. I chose to build my own baked potato, while my friend had a burger. His assessment on the burger is that it was solidly good, not incredible, kind of meeting that middle ground (and price point) between a fast food burger and a high-end specialty burger (like Burger Republic). Next time I'll have to try one. My spud was hot, fresh, tasty, and it had a kick in the pico de gallo with some pepper seeds. Whew! Overall, I'm not craving a meal at Ground, but it may occasionally work its way into my Cool Springs lunch rotation. read more

I feel like Grounds must be a hidden gem of the Cool Springs/Franklin area. We tried to come here right after Christmas or Thanksgiving, but they were closed for a few days. I'm glad we stopped in today to give them a try. The shop is located I. A strip mall off of Carothers Parkway. You cannot see if from the road, so pop it into your gps & you'll thank yourself. The restaurant isn't huge on the inside, but we had not issue finding seats. The hours are 11-2pm & then 4-8pm Monday though Saturday, closed Sunday. After trying the food, I wished they had broader hours, but I'm pretty sure they're owner run & I understand needing some time off. We were greeted by the staff when we entered & asked if we had any questions about the menu. The menu is on a huge chalkboard & also on paper menus at the counter. I got the bacon mushroom Swiss (burger topped with sautéed portabella mushrooms, caramelized onions, swiss cheese, bacon dressed with lettuce, tomato, and mayo) with fries ($10). Phillip got the four alarm fire burger (burger stuffed with pepper jack cheese and jalapenos then topped with onion straws and our signature spicy ranch) with fries ($9). The burgers are cooked medium well unless you ask for them to be cooked differently. Our food came out within ten minutes. The amount of fries is crazy. The fries are covered in pepper, which I like, but the amount makes me feel like they should call them pepper fries. The burger was beautiful. They use large, sliced portobello mushrooms. I like that much better than when places use those little ones. The burger was pretty juicy for medium well. Bacon was crisp & plentiful. Next time I think I'll ask for the burger medium, maybe medium rare. The four alarm burger has jalapeños inside the meat, spicy. The quality & amount of food was worth the price. I could see this as a place to lunch often if we lived closer to this area. I'm not from the area, so I did some searching for yummy areas near Franklin. This place did not disappoint. The staff was friendly, and the food was fantastic. My crew tried the Four Alarm Burger, Mushroom Nuggets, and the Buffalo Fried Chicken Spud. All were delicious, and the "Mushroom Nuggets" were the best fried mushrooms I've ever had. The photo on Yelp of the potato was deceiving; the potato is essentially buffalo fried/grilled chicken on a plain baked potato. Be sure to ask for their spicy ranch- it completes the food. It's a casual atmosphere but a smaller space, so I'm not sure that I'd bring a large group here. They're adhering to the Covid-19 protocols in the kitchen, but there is not enough space in the dining area itself for guests to properly distance. read more

What a hidden gem! Locally sourced and delicious!!! Great service. Friendly staff. We came for he first time on a Saturday and found out that kids eat free with the purchase of an adult meal! Score!!! My husband has the Five Alarm Burger and said it was so good. The jalapeños are mixed in with the burger. Amazing! I had the Jordan's Sweet and Smokey BBQ burger and man...so so good. The burgers are a good size, but manageable. My son had the chicken tenders and they were above average. Much better than most places. And the apple slices were fresh. Someone else commented about them needing a condiment bar and I agree 100%. Wife had the potato soup and salad pick two. The potato soup was blah, the salad was acceptable.
