I haven't eaten inside here since before Covid. It's been forever! Back with my son & his buddy. It's nice and air conditioned, we got to pick our table and service was great! Food was yummy! My son got the spicy tuna rice bowl. Pretty good. Parent-taxed a little. My son's friend got the premium ramen Ichi w/ menma (bamboo shoot) & a "Naruto" (fish cake). The kids called it a "Naruto"... y'all can tell me if they're lying or not. SMH. Anyway, I got the premium Ni ramen on the menu and added menma & soy garlic & spicy. Got so full so fast! Couldn't finish it... Leftovers, baby! When I was little, after finishing ramen, we used to add rice to the soup. So perfect! I'm gonna steal my Sons leftover rice and eat it for dinner with the ramen broth! Thanks guys! Must try, y'all! Parking free for 2 hrs at the structure on 3rd & Pine. read more

I stopped by here for some ramen. This has been the best ramen i have had in a long time. I truly enjoyed it. I did feel like my tempura was bit soggy from the broth but overall it was still good the cheese on the ramen delicious. It was so filling it was so perfect. Hate it when decent food is ruined by discourteous service. Gu Ramen is one of the first restaurants my wife and I went to, after we moved to Long Beach 4 years ago. It's within walking distance, so was a bit surprised that I hadn't visited in over 3 years. My long cruise had gotten me a craving for good ramen, so decided to walk over for an early lunch. I got there about 10 minutes after it opened at 11, and was the first customer. There were two ladies working the front, and one of them greeted me immediately. I put up an index finger with a smile to show it would just be me, and was seated near the back close to the kitchen. I got a menu immediately and was asked what I wanted to drink. I told her water which came quickly. That's when it started turned janky. The server was having a rather loud conversation with the other server in a language I didn't understand. She finally came back after the other lady walked away (to work I'm assuming), to take my order. I stated what I wanted, and without any response, she just went away...wasn't sure if she got it right (but she had). About 10 minutes later, the fried rice dish came. She just put it in front of me without a word, ignored my 'thank you', and walked off. The ramen came a bit later, and same action. She did fill my empty water glass once without me asking, so I guess she was paying attention. Note I was still the only customer. The same attitude with the bill providing and credit card swiping; by this time I stopped trying to interact too. This is the time when I WANT to either just ask "What's your problem?" or more passive aggressively "Did I offend you in some way?" Decided it wasn't worth it, paid my bill, still giving a small(er) tip, and was on my way. Did notice that she was talking normally to a new customer as he was being seated. As for the food, both dishes were decent to great: the fried rice ($7.99 as addon to ramen) was great...very generous portion, cooked over very high heat to produce a delicious veggie fried rice. The tonkotsu ramen ($13.99) with added corn ($1.99) and narutomaki ($2.99) was decent (OK). Plenty of ramen noodle (so didn't need to order extra) topped with a two thick slices of well-prepared Chashu. The broth was OK too, but did give me stomach problems later (still haven't figured out what ingredient(s) cause this...but have decided that ramen and pho are worth it for me). read more

We ordered the Tonkotsu ramen with shrimp tempura, Thai spicy hot wing and the Spicy tuna poke rice bowl. The spicy wing was the best choice among the 3. The flavor is very well balanced and it's not too spicy. You can taste the tanginess of the Thai chili sauce with a hint of sweetness. The Tonkotsu ramen has a mild flavor for me compared to other ramen I have tasted, but still pretty decent. The spicy tuna poke bowl has a medium spiciness for me but overall everything was good. This is seriously my FAVORITE ramen spot. I love the fact that I live so close to it. I dine in or order take out often. I always order the Shoyu Ramen either mild or spicy, and the flavor of the soup is so mouthwatering, the generous noodles are quality, and the eggs are so delicious. I tried this place because other ramen places are far and booked. I was happy with the pricing and the quality of food but not with the servers. They seem so uninterested with their customers and pretend that they dont hear you or give you a bad look on their faces. There were two asian ladies one with glasses and one without glasses that are too grumpy. Overall, the food was good but the people in here treat you like trash. The staff person recommended the Pho Dac Beit which comes with 6 different cuts of beef but he said I could customize it. I ended up getting the flank and brisket. The Pho made it home still piping hot and the broth was full of flavor. All the toppings were fresh. Since the noodles came pretty much raw it took a little time for them to cook in the broth but once it did, everything came together perfectly. This will be added to my rotation of Pho spots in Long Beach!

We came with the whole family, everyone left completely stuffed, and somehow we still walked back to the hotel carrying leftovers from basically every dish. We were only in Long Beach for one night staying at the Fairmont Breakers and walked over here for dinner. We know Long Beach has seriously good Thai food, so there was no way we were spending our one night in town eating something we could get anywhere. Very glad we picked Thai District. What shocked me wasn't just that the portions were huge. A lot of restaurants make a plate look enormous by burying you in rice or noodles. Not here. They were extremely generous with the actual meat, shrimp, vegetables, herbs, nuts, everything. I kept looking at the plates wondering how they were doing this. The Yum Woon Sen / glass noodle salad was ON POINT. Huge plate of noodles, vegetables, herbs, chicken, and what seemed like an endless supply of large perfectly cooked shrimp. Great balance of acidity, spice, freshness, and that slippery glass noodle texture. Then came the Nam Khao Tod Salad, definitely their own interpretation. Traditional nam khao usually has crispy fried rice balls broken apart and mixed throughout. Here it was almost the reverse: a HUGE amount of seasoned minced chicken almost reminiscent of larb gai, fresh herbs, vegetables, peanuts, and crispy puffed rice over the top. I still prefer the more traditional version with chunks of fried crispy rice, BUT this was legitimately delicious in its own way. I found myself eating half the plate while trying to convince my brain we were still calling it nam khao. The herbs and flavor were there, the peanuts gave it great crunch, and the amount of meat was ridiculous. The surprise winner for our daughter was the beef Pad See Ew. This girl had THREE PLATES. She kept asking what kind of noodles they were, why they tasted like that, what the sauce was, and about a million other questions. Eventually she announced she wanted to eat those noodles for the rest of her life. The wide rice noodles had that chewy texture you want, plenty of beef and Chinese broccoli, and they weren't drowning in sauce. Our son normally has a harder time at Thai restaurants because the spice and herbs can be a little much for him. The wonton soup finally gave us a win. The "small" was actually a substantial bowl with a LOT of really good meat-filled wontons, plenty of bok choy, green onion, and a comforting savory broth. He actually ate dinner successfully at a Thai restaurant for once. We also got the crispy tofu, which came out as big cubes with a peanut dipping sauce. Again, generous portion. They apparently do not understand the concept of putting six tiny pieces of something on a plate and charging $15 for it, and I appreciate them for that. Dessert was their Mango & Sticky Rice, and even this had their own twist. Purple coconut sweet sticky rice that reminded us of Korean purple rice, huge chunks of ripe mango, mango sorbet in the middle, and chewy sala palm seeds with an almost gummy, jelly-like texture. Then the whole thing gets drenched in sweet coconut cream. My wife and kids demolished it. And after ALL OF THAT, plus a Singha beer, jasmine rice, sticky rice, etc., our subtotal was basically $100+ for four people. Look at these portions. $100. In Downtown Long Beach. In 2026. I don't understand it either. Service deserves some love too. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating even though we showed up with two kids and immediately became that family. We initially sat at a normal four-person table, but apparently my children are traitors and will only sit next to their mother, so we asked to move somewhere with a bench where a 3-to-1 seating arrangement made more sense. No problem at all. Then I was sweating because I'm fat and apparently walking several blocks before eating Thai food was my personal Everest, so they even turned up the AC and moved us into the other section. Sorry guys, and thank you. The atmosphere deserves a mention too. The restaurant had this cozy, dimly lit, almost romantic feel without being overly fancy. It was peaceful and zen inside, especially for Downtown Long Beach. Soft lighting, comfortable seating, and a quieter vibe made it easy to relax and enjoy dinner. Seriously though, we had a great experience. Huge portions, tons of meat and seafood, excellent Pad See Ew, great Yum Woon Sen, a creative Nam Khao Tod, kid-friendly options, wonderful service, and some of the best value we've seen at a sit-down restaurant in a long time. We walked over from the Fairmont Breakers for our one night in Long Beach specifically wanting good Thai food. Mission accomplished. And now apparently my daughter is going to be asking me for Pad See Ew for the rest of her life.

And boy were we happy we did. This place fit us in on same day reservation, and were a semi large party of 6. We were escorted upstairs to such a cool table with some soft and fluffy pillows and a huge panoramic window. Waitress was very kind and helpful and was good at her job. Now on to the meal. Truly this was the BEST Thai food we have ever tasted. Every single dish was better than the last one. Every thing was seasoned just right. From the fresh and crisp Spring rolls to the Spicy dumplings, and the our delectable, savory Pad Thai. Our Drunken Noodle dish, we ordered mild in spice level, but was mouth watering and delightful! We mentioned it to our friends, who were also here for the same convention, one couple ordered Door Dash the other 5 tried it and every single one of them were not dissatisfied. They loved their meals and thanked us for introducing them to the best Thai food, so far that we've had personally. Next time we are in Long Beach, we will most definitely come back!
