JINYA Ramen Bar is easily one of my favorite ramen spots. The modern ambiance gives the place a really cool and welcoming vibe, perfect for lunch or dinner. Food was good, but the service really missed the mark. We came on a Sunday around 2 PM when the restaurant was maybe half full and still had to wait about 15 minutes just to get seated. We ordered the Tonkotsu Red, which tasted great once it finally arrived, but it took around 30 minutes for the ramen to come out. On top of that, the appetizer we ordered still hadn't even come out by the time we got our food. So glad we went at a great time where it wasn't busy and overwhelming. I appreciated the helpfullness of our waitress, down to recommendations and service. The LYCHEETINI was entertaining and delicious! My husband loved the SALMON POKÉ MINI TACOS as much as I loved the CRISPY RICE WITH SPICY TUNA. Really I'm pressed by the quality, value, and service of this ramen spot. Tonkatsu black ramen is super flavorful with chewy noodles. Tonkatsu original has thicker noodles and heartier broth which I was actually a bigger fan of. Let's talk about this value pick kids meal though. Came here on Valentine's Day with my husband and son. No wait right around 12 so it was perfect! We got seated right away. My husband ordered the black tonkatsu and I ordered the classic tonkatsu. we also ordered the kids meal for our son which was $11. The classic tonkatsu came with a thicker broth that was heavier in flavor and had thicker noodles. I wasn't a fan because I like my ramen broth on a thinner side and don't want the flavor to be too overpowering. The black tonkatsu was much more my speed. It was that familiar tonkatsu ramen that I like with black garlic oil. It definitely had more fixing which was nice for my husband, but I'm a "Chashu, spinach, and nori" kind of gal so the fixings were all scooped into my husband's mouth haha The kids meal was also amazing. There was a small bowl of chicken ramen, a bowl of Chashu rice, 2 pieces of karaage, and fries. On top of that, we had a lollipop and ice cream at the end. I appreciated his honesty when we asked for his recommendations and for what dishes were better than others. I ordered the Chicken Yuzu Shio Delight Ramen ($18.20). I liked how the broth was citrusy and light but the flavor of the chicken wasn't great. I am not the biggest fan of ramen and am rarely impressed by ramen places. The chicken ramen wasn't bad but it didn't make a lasting impression and, in my opinion, was overpriced. I've had Jinya twice, once to go and most recently to dine in. The service was good, but took 30 minutes to get seated at the bar. It seems like they're understaffed on the floor. The 5 piece Crispy Chicken and Premium Tonkotsu Red Ramen with level 3 spice were both very delicious. The chicken was definitely crispy, so I submerged a few pieces in the ramen, which made it more decadent. The staff is friendly & cool and I would return for happy hour. Came here for their $29 brunch special and it was worth the drive. They open at 11AM. Best to go at opening because they tend to get really busy closer to noon. For our party of 12, this worked out well. We made a reservation and was seated as soon as more than half of our party was present. For $29, you get 2 small plates (appetizers) and one bowl of your choice of ramen. We ordered at least one of each appetizer so we can all try. The crispy chicken (karaage) and the pork gyoza were a hit, the Jinya pork belly bun was also good, but what surprised us the most was the brussels sprouts tempura. Not only was it battered perfectly, it was also well seasoned - must get this! Most of us opted for the Tonkotsu Black ramen since this seemed to be one of the only options with pork chashu. One of the best ramens I've ever had... creamy, delicious 20 HOUR broth, perfectly jammy eggs, tender chashu, and just the right balance of flavors. Option to also add $10 for bottomless mimosas with a 1.5 hr limit. We also got a few of their cocktails & Sapporo's. They have a condiment tray for gyoza sauce, hot sauce, & seasoning sauce (so so good). I was too shy to ask if they sold bottles of those because I would've totally bought a few. Good service. I'll keep trying them, but I also would skip this one upon a return visit for another appetizer or small bite offering. Main dishes- We ordered the Tonkotsu Original 2010, ramen w/pork broth & chashu, he. Onion, spinach, egg & xtra thick noodles. Seaweed garnish. Overall great flavor, but a tad overly salted. This place is great. Sometimes they can get very busy and there's a wait but it's worth it. I got the spicy creamy vegan with kale noodles and it is so good! The creamy broth tastes delicious, my favorite broth of all the ramen places I've tried. I love how you can switch out the noodles to their other option noodles like kale noodles. The chicken was a tad dry. Service was lackluster. My table was piling up of dishes and wrappers, but it wasn't removed until the end of my dining experience. I still gave an 18% cash tip, but I wished the staff was a bit more attentive. Also, they do not validate for parking. Kind of a bummer because I was only there to eat; which took 45 minutes. Many places you can take your significant other on a date! I took my wife on a lunch date here and we always no matter where we go have awesome food and service when we go here. The host is very helpful, super attentive, not just us, but to other people in the restaurant, even with a large crowd outside . Portions are a great size and amazing and taste ! We tried this ramen even tho I have a go go to ramen. The tonkotsu ramen broth was really good flavor. A tad bit saltier. But the thick noodle was cooked really perfectly The chicken ramen was good but so spicy broth not as flavorful as the original tonkotsu. we also ordered garlic shrimp egg rolls. That was quite disappointing. Lack flavor and it's just two cigarette size shrimp egg rolls. No sauce and it was paired with salt. Not sure why. After a wonderful Yelp Elite Experience at nearby LATHER Long Beach, it was time to enjoy lunch. I was so excited to spot JINYA Ramen Bar so close by. My mom and I both love ramen and so this looked to be the perfect lunch spot after a nice spa session. JINYA Ramen Bar's menu is quite extensive. They've got appetizers, rice bowls and ramens. The ramen selection is a nice variety and consists of beef, chicken, pork vegan. I was surprised that they even have beef Birria ramen! I was definitely tempted to try the Birria ramen because I love Birria but when I spotted the Tan Tan Men, I knew I had to go with this as it is one of my favorite ramen types. My mom chose to get the JINYA Tonkotsu Black. Another surprise was we got to enjoy a free appetizer for liking their Facebook page. We chose to get their Brussels Sprouts Tempura. I love Brussels sprouts and tempura and this was the perfect pairing. These came out piping hot and the tempura batter was so crisp. I really enjoyed this but my one dislike was it was a tad salty. With just a little bit less salt, it would definitely be perfect. The appetizer was great but the ramens were the star! Our ramens were delicious. I couldn't resist trying a little bit of the broth of my mom's JINYA Tonkotsu Black. The pork broth was rich and tasty. I also really loved how this ramen had one large flavored egg. So good! Equally as delightful was my Tan Tan Men. It had the right hint of spice from the chili oil and chili sesame seeds. It was so savory. I would definitely get this again. My daughters and I ordered spicy vegan (for me without tofu) so good! Not super spicy, just right, creamy broth and plenty of noodles! Large portion, brought half home! My daughter and her husband ordered as combo so also had delicious small salad with fiber dressing and gyoza (daughter's with impossible meat). Tasted the gyoza was very tasty! JINYA is the best place to go on cold November nights. Their ramen warms you right up. We always order the same thing: Brussels Sprouts tempura, JINYA bun (less mayo), and we share a Tonkatsu black ramen. The flavors of each item were consistent every time we come. I wish there were a JINYA located closer to OC but since there isn't one, this 2nd street LBC location is the best. Their space is clean and the service was fine. Food 10/10 favorite ramen spot at the moment, service today was a 0. I got the original Jinya ramen which is always so perfectly rich and savory. Pork chashu is so buttery melting in your mouth every s i n g l e time. Never skips a beat. Not to mention the egg how each time they get the gooeyness just right! This night jinya wasn't busy at all there was hardly anyone in there and maybe that's the reason why the service was bad. We waited quite some time outside before anyone saw us to help us out they have a "wait here to be seated" although there wasn't anyone in sight for a while. We didn't mind it too much until we realized the pattern throughout the night. Normally someone else will come to your table and asks for allergies and as I say "mushrooms" they ask whoever I'm with if they would like their mushrooms in their dish, on the side, or none at all, if their dish has any. This time they asked me but not my friend. His dish came with mushrooms so he just picked it out and placed it on a plate away from me. No biggie. But we only got asked once if everything was great, we kept having to flag down random staff for water, sauces that they took away, and also to order more chashu. I waited for it to eat with my ramen but after 25 minutes I flagged someone down to ask and they said they forgot about it and that they'll bring it out soon. By then my ramen was so cold and decided to cancel the chashu and ask for a to go. They felt bad and included extra chashu without charging. I've gone to restaurants before that are close to closing, and the food usually doesn't taste good but thank you so much to the chefs in the back. The food tasted extremely fresh. It came out steaming, hot, and ready to go. I got the chicken garlic rice, which came out on a hot skillet and my son got the kids meal, which came with a really good amount of food. So naturally we splurged a little and got the JINYA Bun (5/5), Crispy Rice w/ Spicy Tuna (4/5), French Fries (2/5), and then the JINYA Tonkotsu ramen (3.5/5). I initially got the JINYA buns to share and then I didn't want to share anymore because they were so good.. spicy tuna was as-expected like most places, french fries were plain. The ramen, I wasn't a fan of the noodle type as the texture reminded me of egg noodles. The brother was good but could be richer. They told me there was 3 slices of pork per bowl, I only got 2 and even then the pork just lacked flavor and was super thinly sliced. For the money, I didn't think it was worth it for the ramen. Aside from the ramen, the service was very good. This place was super delicious and very close to the house. We had no idea it was a hidden gem! Located in the 2nd and PCH plaza, it has a beautiful ambiance with an outdoor patio and fire pit. The broth was sour and spicy, so different and delicious! I would add some meat on this next time simply because the broth was excellent.
