My review here is long overdue. I first discovered Rakkan a couple years ago when I was in Dallas for work and the taste, flavor, and quality of the ramen I had at my first Rakkan was so good and surprised me so much based on the fact that the broth was plant based, I remember telling myself I need to find if there is one in Socal. Since then, I discovered a Rakkan in Tustin (now sadly closed) but there is this one here in Belmont, Long Beach, where I work! Since I discovered this LB location, I have been here a total of 3 times. I'm usually not a ramen fan so I don't frequent ramen shop too much, so 3x at the same ramen shop is a lot for me. Overall, my experience here at this location has been above average. There were some inconsistency with the service but overall, personally for me, every time I was there we had pretty good service. The broth is still as flavorful but for some reason I think that taste I first had in Coppell, Dallas was the best for me and I haven't been able to get that here at this location. Nonetheless, I like Rakkan because it also offers pretty tasty shrimp option ramen and the convenience of having plant based broth is you can have your choice of protein and still have the same consistency of the broth! I would rather go for plant based broth ramen any time over the original one, for health and clean-eating reasons. Would def recommend you check them out at least once! Great spot! We were looking for somewhere open late that wasn't crowded or rowdy, and this ended up being the perfect find. It's a nice escape from the busy streets and loud bars, with a relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for winding down. The ramen and sushi were both delicious, and we really appreciated how seriously they took seafood allergies. The staff was knowledgeable, accommodating, and made us feel comfortable dining there. Rakkan Ramen has been on my list for a while to try and I have always past by it on 2nd Street. Its been here for a while and open late so it's been a staple here in Belmont Shore. While their broths are plant based, don't let that fool you because it's pretty darn good and you can barely tell. I got their classic garnet and it satisfied by ramen craving. I also ordered the furikake fries which were thinly sliced with furikake (my favorite seasoning on rice.) A unique menu item and loved that too. Where it all went wrong was with the service, the waitress here saw me and didn't sit me along with slowly taking my order and never coming to me. It's almost like you have to tell her or ask her something rather than her helping you ou first. It was honestly one of the most frustrating service experiences I've had in Long Beach in terms of waiting and I had to go to another waitress for help. My first time to Rakkan Ramen and it was Rakkan! We went for DineLA restaurant week menu and it was an incredible deal! The spicy cucumbers were good but they are cut pretty thick, wish they were cut slimmer but they were tasty! The hand rolls were really good. I had the spicy salmon and the scallop which were tasty. The ramen came out and by that time I was already getting full so I ate as much as I could. The spicy was definitely a low medium I'd say so if you want a little kick but not the super spicy, get the regular spicy level and it should work out. The coffee dessert was interesting. We all got it instead of half getting the coffee dessert and the other half getting the mochi haha. I'm sure the dessert is loved by a lot of folks but we just didn't care for it. Rakkan orginated in Tokyo, so I was eager to try. I called Rakkan on Tuesday, 12/30/25 to confirm they were open on New Year's Day and checked their website, which also stated normal operating hours. Both were incorrect. I checked Google on the 1st and it said they opened at 3, which was indeed correct when I arrived at the restaurant. The Quartz Spicy Ramen egg was cold, but the broth and lean chicken helped redeem previous issues. I ordered Chashu on the side for more protein and it was the right choice. The bowl is made with a vegetable broth, so it was way lighter than Tonkotsu. I think the star of the show was the small Karaage that came with a "buffalo sauce". rakkan is a great place to get hot soup at belmont shore ! they remodeled the inside awhile back and there are booths now !! plus, the staff is always attentive and polite. we had the opportunity to try this seasonal's ramen, which they rotate every couple months. this time is was the creamy truffle ramen, but the truffle flavor was very subtle. the broth was also hot and rich. other than that, everything else was delicious. the avocado tofu bowl is a must too. it tastes fresh and healthy. one of my favs here. definitely come to rakkan and try their seasonal ramen !! read more

Came here to do the dine LA. It was $35 person and it comes with a 4 course meal & drinks! You get an appetizer, 2 hand rolls, ramen, & dessert! For the appetizer we got the edamame and spicy cucumber. Both excellent. The hand rolls I got a spicy salmon avocado, salad, green, and California hand roll. The spicy avocado was a 7/10, salad was a 6/10, green was a 6/10, California was a 8/10. I feel the there was more rice than the toppings it was suppose to have. Still overall pretty good! As for the ramen I got the quartz mild and honestly I can say I've had way better ramen. I'd rate their ramen a 6/10. I've came here before, maybe 3 years ago and their ramen was pretty good! Found this place as one of the few open restaurants at 10:38pm. We were seated promptly upon arriving and helped out by a waitress working solo. We ordered the vegan bun as well as two bowls of ramen, one was made vegetarian and the other was shrimp and chicken (blanking on the name). Both were phenomenal, super filling, and flavorful. My only issue is that the broth wasn't piling hot, so it cooled down and thickened up pretty quickly for mine (shrimp and chicken ramen). It's a restaurant from Japan. Loved seeing high ball on the menu! Had to order it. So refreshing! The broth here is plant based so it doesn't taste as rich as traditional pork based broth, BUT it will appeal to people who are vegan and can't usually have ramen. I got the spicy quartz while my other table mates got the pearl. The spicy quartz still has a similar texture to tonkotsu broth. Not that spicy either! The pearl is similar to shio and shoyu ramen. Also delicious! It's a lot of noodles for the price. Sometimes ramen shops don't give you very much. We also shared gyoza. Nice and crunchy! It's a good place for groups. They even show sports. Very disappointed to be writing this review because the first time I visited it was an AMAZING experience. The food itself was amazing no complaints. We got the Garnet and Quartz extra spicy. We also got the Karaage chicken appetizer that was to dieeee for!! Unfortunately though, my Garnet was missing the pork that comes in the ramen and I didn't notice until I was already home.. Very unfortunate and careless. Besides that our server was nice don't get me wrong but not attentive at all. She took our order and was very nice but after that it's like she forgot about us and would pass by us multiple times like she wasn't our server at all. We tried to get her attention multiple times but it didn't work out. We had asked her for waters for the table and they never came until we had to ask a guy behind the counter. We didn't get our waters until the end of our meal. It was so hard to get any help. We also asked for garlic for the ramen multiple times and never got it until we were already finished with our food. So disappointing.. This was the second chance I gave this place but after today realized I don't want to come back. The good parts were the octopus balls. I had those the first time I came and they were delicious the furikake fries were good. Just needed a tiny bit of salt and it would've made them pop a little more. The ramen however...... ouch. Honestly the broth was such a turnoff. The corn side had more flavor than the broth. The service also pissed me off. First like several tables were sat and ordered and our server didn't come to our table. Second we order waters and a beer. Then ordered the fries and the ramen. Tell me why the waters came last. Like I had to ask for them again. Next we got our ramen and it came with a regular tablespoon. Which I didn't want to make a huge deal out of, but honestly that spoon is only given upon request so to get it out right is weird, especially at a ramen restaurant. I noticed every table around us automatically got the renge. I had to ask for the renge. On top of that I had to ask a random server cause our visited our table once to deliver the water and that it's. We had to ask for our check and for a box and for the renge. i hadn't been here in a while but i'm happy to report that their quality remains almost as good as when they first opened i got the spicy garnet vegan - which i thought it came with tofu bc the picture is misleading. i got tofu on the side to add and it was only a dollar to do so. the broth was so good! i also got sushi combo so i got salmon nigiri. salmon was very pale pink - which was odd bc i'm so used to seeing bright orange in salmon. the fish tasted fresh but the rice was all wrong im also realizing that it's not such a great deal to get this bc the nigiri is like 4.50 (as the ramen is 18) - the combo is 22.50.. so it's a regular/competitive price for nigiri at other places. would recommend getting sushi somewhere else. they were playing some awful top 40 trash music which was whatever and ruined my vibe. service was slow but everyone was very nice. read more

I would say this is above average ramen. I think the broth is seasoned well and the noodles are prepared nicely but the chicken topping is super weird. It's SUPER chewy, almost hard and difficult to bite/break off. I almost thought it was uncooked by its texture but it was indeed cooked. I took one bite of one piece and couldn't eat the rest of the chicken slides. Aside from the chicken being weird, I would say the ramen itself was pretty good. Service was prompt and simple. They are quick to remove your dish when you're done and refill your water when it's empty without asking. Parking can be difficult due to the location but it's not terribly difficult to find street parking especially on a weekday. read more

My friends and I came here on a Saturday afternoon around 2/2:30. The place didn't look super crowded, it looked like there were two servers on hand. Both servers were quite nice, but it seemed like they were likely understaffed. Our main issue was that it took 45 minutes for our food to come out. There was no communication as to what was taking so long or when our food would come out, we were just left to sit by ourselves for 30 minutes before someone came out to seat and serve another guest. The person who came in after us actually got their food first and our apps came out after few minutes after. It took almost 10 minutes for our ramen to be brought out after getting our apps. The food itself was fine, quite average. My ramen broth did seem very bonito forward which wasn't my favorite, but overall a decent bowl. I don't want to rag on the staff because it seems like there wasn't enough people on shift, but it would have been nice to at least be given some communication as to what was taking so long with our food. There were only 4 of us at our table, and maybe 2 or 3 other parties when we walked into the restaurant, so it was disappointing to be left alone for so long without any explanations. read more
