4.5 Stars If you live south of the 60 and near the 605, now you have a Taco Ensenada! I've been to the East LA location a thousand times (good days at ELAC) and regularly Alhambra. This is the same vibe, except they have a new interior with AC! I'd actually sit down and eat here if I wasn't getting to go; very clean and AC does blow cold, I think this is their best location interior-wise. They even serve Sinaloa-style sushi! Iykyk, taco Tuesday/Thursday. They have giant fish fillets (rarely I get small ones) fried golden brown with fresh ass crispy cabbage and pico. One thing I really like about Taco Ensenada is their veggies and salsas are always fresh. Their asada has got to be one of the best for a chain taqueria, despite being a seafood spot. I like it better than Baja Cali, Pepe's, Alberto's/Alfredo's, King Taco. It has a meaty, juicy, not dry/overcooked bite. They chop them into big chunks too, so that's a plus. Great asada for being flat top grilled. Their carnitas are also pretty good for a spot that doesn't specialize, very juicy and not overly salty. This place is crazy good! A friend brought me here and I usually go to el atacor this place blew it out the water! I ordered a burrito Mojado with asada the price was reasonable and the taste was so good! The taste and the price definately beats el atacor! Their fish tacos are always soggy. Their cabbage is also soggy. What is going on here ? Their fish tacos don't have that crispy taste. The restaurant is clean, service is not all that great. The cashier stares at my wallet when I'm going to put my money away. One time my fish tacos were burried in a ton of soggy cabbage. I will never be coming back anymore. Now I have to drive to South El Monte to Taconazo. Sure it's farther away and a bit more pricier, but well worth the drive. Surprisingly good tacos. The shrimp tacos had great flavor and the tripa tacos are the best I've had in the two years I've moved to the area. The only thing I can knock them for is taking almost an hour to get my order ready. Although this is reviewed, please be aware my taste buds may be different from yours so go try it out for yourself. That being said, I decided to try the other special they had on Thursday 2x1 soft tacos. You can choose between Carne Asada, Al Pastor, Carnitas and Chicken. First let me say ALL the soft tacos had a lot of meat for the price. They add double tortilla so the taco don't fall apart. The Carne Asada...I can tell this was cooked ahead of time. The meat was rather dry and didn't really have a taste. Chef Merrito would have gone a long way. (If you know the seasoning, Then you know) The Carnitas...Wasn't really how Carnitas are. These seemed like they were cooked in a crock pot or . The meat was real stringy and not fried and crispy. The Al Pastor was good but it has a strong chorizo taste so if you are heavy into chorizo you will like it. So what I'm trying to say is this place isn't for me. A lot of people come here and I'm glad they support this business. The customer service is great, the place is clean, they have a salsa bar (we love that) and the prices are affordable. A 1 star is the least that I can give. If I can give a zero I would. Today was my first time trying out Tacos Ensenada. I was excited to try out the 2x1 fish taco special. They ended up getting my order wrong and when I walked in to let them know my order was wrong. The waitress was not happy, she had an attitude and doubted the mistake until she saw my receipt . She said she was going to keep the extra fish tacos that I took home and sell them again. Which thank god we didn't touch. She said she was going to refry them and serve them to someone else. I will not go back , because how are you going to refry fish and give it to someone else thank god I did not touch those fish tacos because that is disgusting. The food was flavorful, service was awkward. Ambiance was awkward. My first time there, I decided to dine in. As I was watching the TV, I could feel someone looking at the back of my head.! I turned around and saw the young light skinned Hispanic man starring at me. Throughout my dinner he kept starring at the back of my head. My second time there, I decided to order and take the food home. I ordered their shrimp cocktail. There's a young dark skinned Hispanic man with glasses preparing the food in the kitchen. He brought me my order and wanted to see my receipt. As I showed him my receipt, he kept staring at me. Not sure what he wanted. Maybe an extra tip ? As I eating my shrimp cocktail, by the way, very flavorful. The only bad thing was that the shrimp were not deveined. I don't like eating my shrimp like that. I spent most of my dinner cleaning out the shrimp. Maybe the restaurant should have the two young Hispanic men devein and clean the shrimp instead of just standing around staring at their customers as they eat. I had hopes for this place. 1st time here and walking in the counter to place your orders is right there, the menu is huge and listed above on the wall behind the cashier. So if you don't know the menu or it's your first time OR you're not sure what to get I recommend standing to the side and checking the menu out because they don't have any paper menus in the front. We walked in, immediately the cashier stood at the register and then she starts shaking her leg uncontrollably, impatiently. We literally had barely walked in. So upon observing her patience I told her we'd need a minute to look at the menu, I thought about asking if they had paper menus but I chose not to bother her as she had walked away. I understood her impatience towards the end because literally almost everyone walked in barking orders before the door behind them had even closed. So maybe, she's used to that. So it's not a very "new person" welcoming environment. Now to the food. The beans tasted like beans, the rice was regular rice - a little flavorless but it had mixed canned/frozen veggies in it so that was different than other Mexican red rices. The coctel shrimp were good, the only issue was with the other items in the campechana. They seemed off, maybe old or overcooked? Not sure but it wasn't what I had expected at all. Also, their AC is very low. It was hot, stuffy and we were sticking to the table and seats. They do have 3 TVs all on different channels and very close together. I recommend not eating there, it's not a very in-house welcoming establishment. Maybe get your food to go. Also, stick with the shrimps only. Don't expect anything spectacular from the rice and beans, but their fish tacos are a good deal compared to other places. I would say the food is portioned well also, you literally get what you pay for. Food 3/5, in house eating 2/5, service 2.5/5, cleanliness 4/5 (bathroom needed help & the seats had crumbs), prices 5/5. Also, their drinks are very sweet and there isn't nearly enough ice on the large drinks. Ice melted 10mins in and they were warm the whole time. I literally never thought I'd say something about not getting enough ice lol. We tried to enjoy it and just roll with it as much as we could without complaining. So overall score 3.3/5 read more
