It's usually a hit or miss. Lately it's been a miss. We came last night with a large party and service was a little bit slow but it was expected because we were a large group. The food was OK. One of the best things about this restaurant is the table side salsa. This time and the time before the salsa was under seasoned but the chips were great. The rice and bean on our plates looked like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while so the rice was a little bit crispy and the refried beans dried out. We always come for the Steak Molcajete which is basically like fajitas and a tasty tomato sauce/broth. This time the sauce in the Molcajete was watered down and didn't have much flavor. The steak was great because it was charred. The margaritas were not good. One of the best things about a Mexican restaurant is the margaritas, but we found that they were way too sweet and the only reason I knew it had alcohol in it was because I ordered it. The previous time we visited we felt the same way about the margaritas. They were way too sweet and had hardly any alcohol. Other times I've been here I did enjoy the shrimp salad and the pozole. Last night my mom ordered the pozole and the broth was very thick. Not sure we'll be back. We'll probably stick to the location on Oracle Road which I am pretty sure is a different owner. read more

We come here pretty regularly. At least 2-3x's a month. We took our daughter out to celebrate. Her fajitas had half raw onion and raw green pepper. Food was cold and she barely ate half the meat. I got the carne asada and the plate wasn't even warm. Our food took nearly 45 mins after ordering. The waiter checked on us once. We kept having to ask for basic things, like a simple refill. Wait 15 mins to get a bowl of chips. We may try other places now. Too bad this location is so bad. The original location has always been good for years. read more

Ordered a very simple beer and bean and cheese burrito enchilada style. First we received the wrong beer. Meh, not such a big deal. Then I got my burrito, took one bite and could barely swallow it. The enchilada sauce tasted like it was from a can, the beans in the burrito were bland and tasted horrible. I complained to the waitress, she took the plate away. Then came the bull. 18.45 for a bean and cheese burrito enchilada style. What???? I didn't even eat it. So I asked to speak to the manager who came over and was appalled at my complaints and told me everyone loves the food there. He finally agreed to take off the charge for the burrito I didn't eat. Then a few minutes later, the manager came back and apologized for the beans and the cook apparently didn't put any salt in them, also says he makes them with vegetable oil because they are vegetarian. We were shocked. When I go to a Mexican food restaurant where the prices are high I expect amazing food! Good luck! I will never go back again!! They finally opened and I finally conquered and came. Pretty good! Nothing to write home about pretty much what I expected. The ceviche I had was very tasty with a little bits of tilapia and shrimp. But it didn't have the typical cucumber chunks. My friend went ahead and had the seafood platter which she said was very tasty. It came with a very large-generous chunk of salmon, several shrimp and 3 scallops. They still bring salsa to the table along with chips. Yet the waiter had to be called on for napkins and plates & it took quite a bit to get the check correct because the ceviche was part of happy hour which wasn't given the discount until I mentioned it was on the menu. But overall pretty good... I believe personally that it's quite pricey. But that's my opinion as people have said things are going up in price. But overall they did a good job on the remodeling, and the food is pretty much reliable from what it's always been at the other locations. read more

I ordered the chicken fajitas. The chicken was rubbery. The salsa ingredients were not chopped small enough so there were large chunks of what looked like canned tomatoes and canned chili peppers.The overhead music was way too loud. We couldn't hear each other talk. The waitress was extremely slow. We were all disappointed we chose to eat there. I am disappointed by this new location of Guadalajara Grill! I know every new restaurant has kinks to work out but since this is a local and well established chain restaurant in Tucson I was hoping those kinks would not be present. But I was wrong. The 3 stars is for the food. Everything we had was pretty good. It's not my favorite overall but still good and it's close by. My issue was with the service. We were not sure what to expect on opening weekend but ended up waiting almost 30 mins for a table around 2:00 pm on a Sunday. Once we finally got seated we noticed there were other empty tables around us and tons of wait staff running around so I don't know why they were not seating people quickly. It took about 5 to 10 minutes to get our waiter to our table and his service was awful. It seemed like he just wasn't paying attention. He ended up forgetting some things and one if our orders was wrong so he had to get everything redone which caused us to have to eat at separate times which was awkward. All around not a very good experience . If we do decide to come back we will wait until some of the opening issues sort themselves out. read more

This place has delicious food. Too bad it is over shadowed by its terrible service. The table side salsa and guacamole is amazing. The woman preparing it was great. But we were seated by a annoyed hostess at a dirty table. By the time we turned to let her know she was gone. We airier for about five minutes before the table side salsa server came. We let her know the table was dirty so she went and grabbed a rag to wipe it down. And her service was superb. Then another ten minutes for our waitress. We went ahead and ordered drinks and food, worried about when she'd be back. She never came back. A different server brought our food and drinks. At the same time. Then we were out of salsa for our entrees since we ate it all waiting for our server/food. By the time our waitress came to ask if everything was alright, I was down to my last taco and my mom was almost done with her taco salad. I like the appeal of the table side salsa, but when eating Mexican food you eat most of the salsa with chips but need re for your food. By the time I was able to ask for more salsa and it was brought, I was done eating. The next appearance by our waitress was with the check. We waited and waited to pay her then thought maybe you oh up front. The annoyed hostess let us know you pay your server. We let her know we hadn't seen her and she shrugged it off. So I went to hunt her down to pay our tab. Once again, food is amazing, just wish the service would match. read more

Over the weekend, I finally got a chance to check out the new location of Guadalajara Grill in Marana. Not gonna lie, the hype for this place had been building for a long time, since most people in the area thought it would open over Memorial Day weekend in 2021 (!!). When we arrived, there was already a pretty substantial line that had formed before the place even opened and they have a sign out front saying they don't provide take-out services or take any reservations (heads-up!). We were able to get seated pretty quickly once they opened and our server was kind and very efficient. The pricing is very similar to the other Guadalajara locations in the Tucson area, but there is a difference here. All of the food we ordered (which we've had many times at the other locations) tasted a little...off, like, maybe the recipes were tweaked or something? When I ordered red sauce for my enchiladas, it was orange and tasted just like garlic and cumin were lightly dusted over some incredibly mild habanero sauce? It wasn't bad, but was pretty different from the other locations. We also felt that thr salsa tasted off (maybe too many tomatillos were used and not ebough salt added?) My husband ended up ordering flan before we left and said it was definitely thr best part of the meal. So, overall, we will return to the Arizona Pavilions location, but with tempered expectations. Some of the food-related issues might be due to the restaurant still being new with chefs/cooks that aren't super familiar with the recipes yet. Kids meals start at 8.99 entrees are all 16.99 and up for the price points I would expect better. I visit this location about once a week, the staff is great and David the bartender is absolutely the best part of it! He is phenomenal at bartending, his drinks are the best around, no matter what you ask for. It's always a fun time with the staff, very attentive, professional and all really nice people. Let me start with saying Alma who makes the salsas and guacamole deserves 5 stars! She is AMAZING. Her customer service is truly great. I come to this location often and she is always a bright spirit and that makes us all smile. However, after so many times of coming here I had the worst experience. I'm normally a person who doesn't take things so personal when someone is rude, I always just think maybe they are having a bad and let it go.. but tonight I truly felt hurt and disrespected. DAVID, who says is a supervisor was condescending, disrespectful, and honestly disappointing. To the point that the waitress standing next to me got nervous and froze. She was scared to give me his name until he walked away from sight. He called me some names, made rude comments about my character and said some things that a supervisor should never say to a client. He even laughed and mocked the situation, you would think he was a teen (he's not, he's old). The manager did come over to talk to me but not before talking to DAVID in first, joking with him then finally making his way over. As he walked to my table to talk to me DAVID even peeped out laughing and cracking a joke to the manager making eyes pointing at me. Wtf? From my understanding, I'm not the first to experience this with him. I shouldn't admit this, I'm sure it will make him happy, but it really ruined my night, I left feeling really upset. Anyway.. that's why I'm giving a 1 star review. But I really hope everyone sees that Alma, truly deserves a 5 star. read more

I came here on a Saturday afternoon after discovering that one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area was closed due to a private event. Was here alone, so I asked to sit at the bar. Service was terrible, took a long time even for the waiter/bartender to even notice I was sitting there. Finally was able to order a house margarita. Honestly, that was the best part of the meal. Table side salsa was also decent. For my meal, I ordered one of my favorite dishes, chiles Rellenos. It took a while for the food to come out, and when it did it was super bland and not very tasty. I frequent the Guadalajara's on Oracle often and was really excited that one opened up less than five minutes from my house. Unfortunately I just had surgery so cannot do much more than soups right now. I went in and asked for 2 cups of soup to go. I didn't need any toppings or anything additional. Just 2 cups of soup dumped in ToGo cups. The manager said they would not serve me because they were 'too busy'. It's 1 o'clock on a Tuesday. I think finding time for customers when it's something so simple would go along way. The reason I didn't sit down is because I eat very slowly after the surgery and didn't want to take up a table for 2 cups of soup. It's just disappointing to be treated that way. read more

When I wrote this review I thought it was for job seekers. To customers, I also found out that they stole money from quite a few of their new hires. I ran into another that was fired and she told me while eating there she recognized the shirt she'd purchased and never been reimbursed for. When she told the server, she said they are the uniforms they were given. So they hired a group of people in need of work, had them all buy 4 long sleeved black shirts, took them to add their logo and fired everyone! There are 2 people who own these restaurants. The group who used unemployed people, some who spent $100 or more, to purchase their uniforms, owns the restaurants on Broadway & Swan, and Cortaro & I-10. I'll only eat at the Oracle or Prince Rd ones because people like this shouldn't profit off the backs of others trying to earn a living! Ruthless people like this shouldn't profit at all. read more

Seated right away for lunch. The booth seating was very cramped and not much room. Only been here a few times but always feel like we're packed in tight with no room. Our waiter was good. Disappointed that there were no lunch deals - just the high regular entree prices. Margs were pretty good. Chips/salsa was very good. My Chili Colorado was a disappointment. The meat was about half-fat and kind of gross, so couldn't eat it all. Not horrible, but with all the other choices in town - we won't be back. read more

This place has been getting a bad rap lately for slow service, poor food quality, etc. We had NONE of those problems. We arrived at 5:30 on a Wednesday and we promptly seated. The table side salsa and guacamole was yummy (bring a few dollars for a tip!). We waited about 25 minutes for our food. It was freshly prepared and hot and our order was correct. My fajitas were good, but I would have preferred a bit more seasoning. I would like to suggest some low carb menu options be available as well. Please give GG a try! read more

Stopped in at this restaurant while on a road trip to southeastern AZ. So glad we did. Our server, Rosie, was fantastic and recommended the California burrito. It was huge! Stuffed full of tender chunks of carne asada, French fries, and cheese. The pinto beans were great. We could have easily shared the giant burrito but also ordered a chopped salad as well.
