    Rice and Frijole - nope

This place was recommended by Diane at Lifetime Fitness as I'm always up for trying Mexican places especially in the North Shore. I have to support el gente! Unfortunately they didn't support me. My son and I came here for lunch and we were really greeted as the bartender served as the host and a few other employees were doing stuff around the restaurant. We were seated and my son was hungry so I ordered his food right away which was Quesadillas con Queso. They came out quick but it would've been helpful to let me know the rice was a little spicy. If you need a high chair for someone at the table, you should probably let them know about the spice in the rice. Other than that, he ate the food. I asked for milk as well. I ordered the Carne Asada (yes a heavy my lunch order) but obvs I was hungry. It was very good and had some sort of marinade but couldn't figure out what it was. The rice and beans were bad as the rice didn't taste fresh and the beans were blah. Also I had to ask for more corn tortillas since I only got 3. The service was ok and I was never asked what I wanted to drink. My biggest beef was when other patrons (all Caucasian) walked into the restaurant, they were greeted immediately and made a hell of a lot more welcome than us. It was weird to hear how over accommodating that same person who was on his computer when we walked in, jumped off his seats for the other patrons walking in. The nicest person by far was a women who brought me more tortillas and actually engaged with my son. No need to come back here but cmon gente, get it together when fellow gente walk in.

Have been going to Guanajuatos my whole life - always have a great time when there :) it is a small place that has a cozy atmosphere and friendly waiter. Margarita: 3.5/5 could have been stronger. I am vegan and got the fajitas with extra veggies instead of chicken: 4.5/5 really yummy :) just wish they had more vegan options! My sister and mom liked their dishes but weren't obsessed. A free delicious flan and birthday song for my little sisterOverall I recommend coming here :)

Outside on their new patio location!! Perfect Margarita!

Wow what a fall from Grace. Been here 50 plus times and kinda avoided it for a year bcoz their prices got outta control along with their quality. Decided to come here for lunch just to give it one last chance and man has this place gone way way down hill. The bartender made the worst skinny margarita. It was weak and way too tart and they used to put a dried round lime garnish on top but this time it came with a cheaper lime slice. The queso fundido was dry AF I mean how can cheese be dry?? The burrito was tepid with some cheese on top. How does a freshly made burrito come out tepid?? Answer: it wasn't freshly made perhaps sitting ready for just cheese to be added and placed under the broiler. I ordered the torta Milanese which is a breaded chicken sandwich. It was ok but I couldn't eat it, it was so dried out. I'm afraid to say this place is a DNR- do not return!

Update, his name is Jovanny Diaz and is the restaurants "chef de cuisine"

I wish there was a way to write a review without stars. I am a delivery driver (such as grub hub, door dash, postmates..etc) I arrived at this location a few minutes after receiving the pick up request on my phone. When I arrived to the restaurant, the gentleman (Brian, is what I'm told his name is) asked me how he could help me and I kindly gave him the name of the pick up order. He explained that the order was not yet ready and to have a seat on the benches near by. After about 20 min, the host checked in with me to ask me the name on my order again, and told me they were working on it. (mind you, the order was 1 dish. that's all) 10 min later, annoyed, I asked the host if there was any update on the order and she said she would check in the back. She came back after a few minutes and said that my order was being packed up and it would be a few more minutes. Another 10 minutes went by another employee asked me for the name on my order. Annoyed, I gave him the name and he told me he would go and check. I saw him walk to the kitchen, walk out, to never return to give me an update on my order. At this point I stood up and walked over near the host stand quite pissed off and asked again for the status of my order. The host apologized and said it would be out shortly. Another 10 minutes went by. I was fuming at this point. Brian, the guy at the beginning of this nightmare of a story, approached me and said "Gordas, name on the order?" I stood in shock. For those of you who don't know, "Gordas" translates to fat, fatty, chubby, fatso, plump, porky...etc Once again, I gave the name of my order. I watched him walk to the kitchen, walk out, and then walk to another table and start laughing with the guests. Im not sure what gave him the thought that he could call me this. Did he think my blue eyes meant I couldn't understand Spanish. Did he think that this was the appropriate way to address me... especially while waiting there for over 50 min waiting for an order that should have been ready by the time I walked in. Just as I was able to say something, the host walked over with my order. I grabbed it out of her hands and walked out.... I have never, in my entire life ever had an experience like this. This was the most unprofessional and disgusting action I've ever seen displayed in my life. You should be ashamed of yourself, and frankly...FIRED!

Beautiful outdoor patio, very nice live music, very good margaritas. Small guac but delicious. Loved the tacos and enchiladas. Wish the shrimp was a bit bigger but was good. Loved the habanero and chips and salsa. Friendly staff

The menu is limited and for good reason as the focus here is placed entirely on the food...as it should be. The tacos are basically large street tacos and they explode with flavors and some heat. The tortillas? Freshly made with a splendid corn earthiness. I had the tinga chicken tacos and my spouse had the birria tacos and both were excellent. In Winnetka all the pleasant surroundings might prop up the food a bit so it's very refreshing to put all that aside and experience a level of Mexican food culture that is rarely enjoyed this far North of the border.

I'm glad more restaurants are opening up as this spot has gone been through two other restaurants. I'm rooting for you! Overall, I thought it was just ok, but I need to order more things. Mexican rice - good Pastor taco - just ok. Potato flautas - it was soggy by the time I got home (I highly recommend you ask for the sauce on the side so your food can stay crispy). Overall, just ok. Being from California, we get a lot of great Mexican restaurants. In San Diego, they have rolled tacos that are delicious. This place does not have a wide selection on the menu compared to La Taquiza or Guanjuanto but I want to come back and try some other things. The elote salad looks good.

He did find a table and during the course of our meal there were non-stop arrivals with a few heading straight to the small bar so I'm thinking perhaps it has a strong flow of regular customers. The service was efficient and the dining room has a cozy bistro feel to it. The menu is seasonal. Nothing was calling out to me so I went with the burger and fries. Both were good. Overall we are glad we gave Pixca a try. Before we go again we'll make a reservation and check the menu to see what the current options are.

We arrived very early at a random time, probably right after opening. Everyone was so nice and service was great. The table started with the cornbread, moist and warm. Not as sweet as I personally like (I can't help it I'm southern) but delicious nonetheless. The eggplant hummus wasn't that great to me, loved the bread it came with but I think I would prefer typical chickpea hummus instead. Brussels were so good, probably the favorite thing I tried. For my entree I had a kale salad with added salmon. I liked the crunch and the light vinaigrette. My husband had the seafood risotto which was slightly undercooked. All and all a positive experience and I'd definitely go back if I was in the area.
