The hostess got drunk while we were there and so service got worse. When the bill came, the TIP WAS INCLUDED, so we left NO extra tip, also, they charge extra if you pay with a credit card so we had to pay more than the bill was, BUT EVEN WORSE is, I kept my receipt and then when I see my bank account statement , we got overcharged, on top of the credit card fee and since hostess was drunk I don't trust that place and I assume she entered and extra amount to add more tips for herself, if that's not the case, IT'S STILL A SERIOUS THING TO OVERCHARGE MY CARD BY almost $43.00!!!! I am in the process of a dispute with my bank. E AWARE OF THIS PLACE, food was good but not worth the headache and being overcharged. read more

The food was bland the wings in particular were very salty, when this was communicated to the waitress we were told the manager said we had to pay because we ate one of the wings and the kitchen staff said it's not salty. Also if you pay with a card there's an up charge. read more

Food is not consistent at all!Ordered salmon had a very weird taste like butter and fish broth but it was not edible. Ordered sweet plantains which were old and very hard. Great food in a comfortable atmosphere. Opposite Scotto's in Hampton Bays, this is a must visit. Great drinks, friendly service and a varied menu. We had chicken dishes, chops, salmon, and all was complimented with fresh vegetables and tostones and sweet plantains and beans. Wonderful. This is still undiscovered and you can get in on the weekends while the other 2 'popular restaurants' offer 2 hour awaits. If you want good food and can live without the 'scene' you must give Guava a chance. You won't be sorry. Enjoy! read more

Food is delicious. However, Somehow tips were pre-added to the check by default. If I haven't checked it carefully, I wouldn't have known. I would recommend waitress to remind the guests first next time. I would have paid more tips than the pre-added one if I was told first. read more

2 stars... but only because they were open. And even the , they only have 5 options (on the appetizer menus) We saw 3 bartender... all of them waitrons. They were so slow and inept. The "head" bartender made our drinks and put sour mix in a mojito. As for the food... the guacamole was decent.... but that was it!! The cheese on the nachos was some strange form of dipping sauce, and the meat was inedible. Me and my bf placed a simple 2 item order at 9:41. They told us 15 minutes on the phone. I sent him in to pay at around 9:52ish. After a while when I realized he was taking a long time I decided to go in and wait with him. Long story short I was served my food well after people that walked in after me and ignored for over an hour. Me and my bf stood there waiting til about 10:50 something for our food. Just for the server to say to him that our food "been ready". Our food was stale and cold. I ordered mini quesadillas and French fries, there should have been no reason for my to-go order to take so long. I understand that it was busy but its ridiculous especially since they said 15 minutes over the phone. read more

I wanted to try a new restaurant so I ordered takeout from Guava. Very disappointing because the tostones were old, hard, dried out and totally inedible. The salmon salad I had was tasteless, the salmon over cooked and the dressing very plain. On a positive note, the arugula was fresh and I enjoyed the salad part. I see many good reviews so I will give it another try with my friends but I'm not impressed at all with the 2 items I ordered. read more

Our waitress Bobbie is the best! I have no idea where she finds the energy. My husband had Ropa Vieja and thought it was wonderful. I had Arroz con Pollo it was so well seasoned delicious! The Margaritas are very good. The restaurant has a comfortable feeling that is good for families, groups or later on in the evening for a romantic dinner and dancing with a live Salsa band. The Chef came out to introduce himself and check on us. The bar scene is hopping later on. I can to see a Salas band Sabore. What a great evening of dinner and dancing! read more

Delicious, Authentic, Inventive, Edible...all words I wouldn't even think of using after eating at this confused establishment. Don't be fooled by the Tropical Caribbean Cuisine nonsense, its just poor american bastardizations of different cuisines. And then some random American Italian food thrown in the mix. I took one look at the menu and knew I was in for a real treat. Quesadillas, Penne alla vodkas, Fried fish, Burgers, a raw bar section, Chicken Marsala, "Tropical Meats". This place has it all! It has a selection that rivals food courts in malls. Unfortunately this is never a good sign at restaurants and the place had me wishing I was at a food court. Lets start with the frozen empanadas. You will know when they are on the way to the table, just listen for the ding of the microwave. Then there are the wings, choice of mild franks red hot or bbq sauce...very Caribbean. Also nothing says Tropical like a double order of "Mark's Mozzarella Sticks". Now on the the quesadillas..."Comes with cheese,tomato, and red onions all pressed in an elegant tortilla". WTF is an elegant tortilla. I've never had one before, but I can say that after eating the quesadilla here, I still don't think I've ever had one. Un- melted slices of cheese that appeared suspiciously similar to Kraft singles. Various cuts of steaks that have been marinated for 25 seconds, meh...they weren't awful. This restaurant is all over the map. Mexican, Cuban, Italian, American... Take a hint from rumba's down the road and you will survive. Great name, friendly and attentive staff but the food was subpar. I literally tricked my wife into trying the carne asada after telling her it was excellent. She looked at me in disgust as she chewed the grainy over cooked beef. We tried the "specialty" combo platter. I shared with you the carne story, the chorizo was pretty good, the chicharron was a fried 1/3 pound of fat, rice overcooked, beans - good but an enormous portion, a random fried egg, plantains that tasted like yuca, and a quarter of an avocado with the skin on. You might want to take it off the specialty list. My wife had a quesadilla. Hard to make any mistakes there but the salsa tasted like a sweet jam. Weird. She asked for another one. It had corn in it. She was pleased with that one. I hope they do something soon before the summer crowd arrives. read more

I don't even want to rate it 1 star , it's deserves no star. The service is terrible , they don't remember your order , then give you attitude when you ask them about your missing food . We received 4 napkins with silverware , there was 10 of us , we received one pitcher of water all night , our alcohol took 20 minutes ...mind you it was just beers . We ordered tons of apps & received them all separate. It took them 45 minutes to bring out a Cuban sandwich .... a sandwich . & the food just doesn't taste that good . This was our first indoor dining experience since last year and it was awful! Service was terrible, the food was so bad I signed up for Yelp! We have eaten in the past there, I think they are under new management. There was not even salt in the shaker. Ceviche had shrimp like it was from the supermarket shrimp cocktail dressed up in some sweet salsa, guacamole was bland, just a terrible experience, oh and they want you to adjust your tip to reflect their card fee for the use of a creditcard. This is by far the best restaurant in the Hamptons. A totally hidden gem in Hamptons Bay. Try the shrimp tacos, the best, try the chicken wings, the best, try the crab cakes. You don't know what your missing. Fresh fresh ingredients always. We are there once a week. The best!!! read more

Highly recommend Guava for Sunday brunch. Stopped there spontaneously this morning and absolutely enjoyed it. Bobbie made us feel welcome and right at home. They offered a wide variety of menu items.The empanadas were flavorful and authentic. The breakfast tacos were fresh tasting and beautifully presented. Even the french fries were memorable because they were not thin or thick, they were somewhere in between and were fluffy on the inside. An added bonus was the complimentary mimosa. read more

Driving By the Hamption Bay Area I came across this new hip location. When you walk in you see a huge spacious bar with three bartenders and some Caribbean music playing in the background. The atmosphere quickly got my group into the mood for some drinks and appetizers. The hostess was attentive and sat us quickly to a nice table. The location has two rooms one with the bar and another room with about 10 tables for parties of 4-8 people per table. Our waiter was very nice and quickly took our drink order. We ordered some appetizers we tried the empanadas and the tostones which came accompanied with a fresh delicious guacamole . It was delicious!!! The dining room filled up quickly and the bar was busy with people. Our drinks came out we had Mojito with different fruit flavor options. Simone ordered the salmon dish and it was amazing!!! The sauce was perfect and the fish was cooked perfectly. Will be revisiting this place again soon. read more

Awesome!!! My boyfriend and I passed by one night and made it a point to stop in because we are on the hunt for the best margarita. Wonderful by the way, we'll definitely be back for more. I had the linguini with clam and it was phenomenal! My boyfriend had steak quesadillas and he loved them. Maria was our bartender and Bobbie was our hostess and they were phenomenal as well. When i walked into the restaurant I thought this is a nice lounge area and very comfortable to be in. Then I ordered and I enjoyed my meal had no issue at all. Got the bill okay well there prices are alittle ummmm out there....but the best is when we left a tip for the waitress and she came back after taking the bill and she became very rude and asked us where we are from and that they only take certain tips and pay out everyone but her attitude was horrible if they're going to have staff like that and basically rob you I don't recommend it at all. read more
