Absolutely loved this spot! Guiji is such a refreshing addition to the area. The shop itself is clean, modern, and has a really calm vibe--perfect for a quick stop or to hang out for a bit. We tried a few drinks: the Passion Fruit Green Tea, Blooming Oolong Tea, and the 3 Rings Oolong Milk Tea. Everything tasted super fresh and not overly sweet, which I really appreciate. Quality tasting tea, would be back! Got the grapefruit green tea and the 33 kings oolong milk tea. Both tasted really fresh and good! The shop is located within the tawa gateway plaza, can be busy at times but wasn't too bad when we went on a Saturday morning. Lots of parking, don't forget there's an underground lot if it's too crowded ground level. The shop has bathrooms on site and is pretty sizable, able to accommodate many people if you want to stay a bit. There's nothing different about it, it's just the usual milk tea, on the bar itself they have jugs and jugs of tea to prep for drinks. We didn't like any of our 6 different drinks that we got. Guiji's teas are smooth and do taste like authentic Taiwanese teas. My friend and I enjoyed the green fresh milk tea and the winter melon tea. 50% sugar was perfect. Just missing a bit of fragrance/aroma; I wonder if using aromatic straws might make a difference? Went on a Tuesday afternoon. Store was pretty empty at that time. I just got back from Taipei last week. Last drink that I had at the airport was Guiji. I was happy that there's one in SGV now. Guiji was one of the top boba place that I tried in Taipei. Like the app said, we wait well over 80 minutes from the time we ordered, BUT the discount of 70% off drinks after the first order is only in person. I get that this week was a special promotion week, but their ordering system is actually pretty messed up. We were 863 for 40 minutes while numbers WAY later was called before us. You can imagine while they were still in the 800-teens, they were calling out numbers in the 50 while we were fighting for our lives mentally. I followed up and explained the situation and the drinks were just sitting there -___- As for the orders.. The grapefruit green tea w/ 30/30 sweetness and ice is perfect. It's filled with chunks of grape fruit and some of the best I've tried. Kings Oolong Fresh Milk 30/30 was not sweet enough. Would recommend 50% sweetness. In my experience yesterday, it seems like their specialty is fruit tea and I really hope that they work to fix their numbering system. Servers like to make all their friend's drinks first (and their own drinks) instead of prioritizing standard customers who have been waiting a while. (I saw this happen with my own eyes lol) I ordered the Passion Fruit Green Tea, Kings Oolong, Green Fresh Milk Tea, and Blooming Oolong Tea for myself and my friends. Tried each one of them. The milk teas are milk-heavy and barely has any tea notes/tastes to it. They're refreshing, but none of them are special, and honestly a waste of time waiting for mediocre drinks that taste the same (if not worse) than other tea shops. Better off going somewhere else. This is hands down one of the best tea shops I have been too in the SoCal area. Guiji is exactly a taste of home in Taipei and reminds me of Cha Trade in Taiwan. We got the Apple Hongxuan Black Tea & Grapefruit Green Tea (both 50% sugar) and they were both so refreshing and delicious. The Apple tea did not have the artificial apple juice flavor you get from American brand stores. It tasted that freshly juiced apple with a hint of tea making it super addicting, clean, and overall delicious!! The Grapefruit Tea was also so fresh. It had some grapefruit pulp and was slightly bitter but in a good way where it was not overwhelming. It had a great grapefruit taste and essence making it pair so well with the tea. Tried out a new boba place during the soft opening. Came around 6:40 on a weekday and there was a small line. The line went by pretty quickly and the staff taking our order was really nice and quick. I believe the soft opening ends on 2/6 (don't site me ) and we got 20% off our entire order of drinks. I'm honestly amazed at how quick the drinks were ready after ordering. We only waited around 10-15 minutes. We ordered four drinks (all drink were 50% sweet 30% ice) 1) peach oolong tea - personally not my favorite but it was the perfect sugar for someone who normally gets half sweet or 30% with peach bits on the bottom 2) apple black tea - honestly one the best fruit teas I've had. Apple flavor was refreshing and there was no bitter taste when paired with the black tea. 3) 33 oolong milk tea - tea flavor was nice and subtle with the milk (not to confuse with the fresh milk drink option) 4) winter melon fresh milk - a classic drink that tastes the same wherever but I would have probably gotten 80% sugar for this since the milk overthrew the winter melon flavor at half sugar. 30% ice was a perfect ice level where there was still some ice and the drink was cold compared to other places where their less ice is just melted already and nonexistent. Will overall be coming back again for their grand opening with how amazingly staffed and ready they were during the soft opening (which some stores can miss the mark and understaff) the overall interior was spacious and clean. King's Oolong MT: 5/5. Super toasty and aromatic, blends really well with the milk (or milk powder) that they use. I'd compare it to The Oolong Tea Project. Would definitely come back just for this drink. Apple Oolong Tea: 4/5. Bold tea with a crisp aftertaste. I wouldn't drink this on its own since it's a bit strong, but I'd love to try it as a milk tea when they add it to the menu. Avoid this place during peak hour for sure! Drinks are all very flavorful, nice strong tea base. Definitely a better tea place. Definitely a strong contender in SGV. Their menu selection is actually very limited, less than 10 items. Regular size only. About the size of an iPhone. Wish there's option to upgrade. Prices are very reasonable given the quality of tea. Their 33 King's Oolong Tea is really one of the best teas we've ever had and the pearl (when cooked perfectly) compliments it really well. Their Peach Oolong Tea and Hongxuan Black Tea are okay, but not great and can pass on them. Can't wait to come back to try their other drinks. The drinks here aren't good. Got the King Oolong Fresh Milk Tea and it tasted like watered down milk that was lightly sweetened. There was no tea flavor in it. Also tried the Peach Oolong Tea. This one was slightly better since it had peach flavor and actual peach bits, but other than that, it still tasted watery with no tea flavor at all. The portions are also small and the cost is overpriced. Paid nearly $7-8 for each drink. What an awesome tea shoppe and a must check out boba place! So I saw the sign for Guiji Tea shop coming to TAWA plaza months before the shop actually opened. In many of my trips to Taiwan . I have not tried Guiji and now I have. When I first saw the Chinese characters for Guiji: Gui means turtle "龜" and ji means remember as in "記"憶 (memory). To me this tea shop is aptly named because tortoise to me means slow. Each drink is well made and each one should sip slowly to savor the drink. I ordered: 1) Peach oolong (蜜桃烏龍) 30% sugar, no ice, 2) 33 King milk tea (33茶王奶茶), 3) Apple hongxuan black tea (蘋果紅萱) and 4) grapefruit green tea (紅柚翡翠). All excellent drinks. The teas definitely leaves a "回甘" or a sweet aftertaste after each sip. The fruit teas are very well balanced and doesn't taste like cough syrup. The pieces of fruit: peaches pairs well and accents the undertones of the teas (the tannins has unique taste). The taste is like fine wine and fragrant. Inside the tea shoppe doesn't have study tables but more designed for small parties of people to stop by and chat. A lot of natural lighting and I hope the owner provides more tables for students to stay. Not sure if there are any electrical outlets for plugs . The staff are very courteous and stay busy. I can tell they care about the drink being done right. This is still a fairly new spot, so be patient with the staff if they are shy or if they are figuring out how to do things .
