Ive been goin to Guiseppe's since 1963. Best subs for the price , small sub bag of chips 10.00 How can you beat that?

"special" ziti and sausage, not impressed.

Ahhh this place is so hit or miss, but lately it's all misses. I've never been in here and had an enjoyable customer experience, they're always curt and borderline mean, but that's not a problem for me if they deliver great food or high value. Lately, it's been slow, low quality food that just leaves me wishing I'd gone somewhere else. Subs - $7.50 and you get a decent Italian sub, maybe 60% the size of a Subway sandwich, easy to finish in one sitting. "Specials" - extremely disappointing. I didn't think you could mess up Ziti and sauce with Sausages. What's in it? Properly cooked pasta, rich tomato sauce, some sausage chunks, right? What I ended up with is a box of overcooked pasta, watery "tomato" sauce, and 5 bits of sausage for $7.50. Picture does it justice.

    Cute little Sub shop!

I'm currently working in Newton and was looking for a good sub shop to grab a quick lunch. I called in at 11:55 am for a meatball sub. I was there at 12:02 and my sub was all wrapped ready to go! The meatballs were excellent, perfectly seasoned and I had it with provolone cheese and black olives. Next time I'll try an Italian with banana peppers! :)

I saw they opened recently and figured worth a try. Nice clean spot inside. No seats, counter or…read moreeating area . No outdoor seats. Ordered the # 1 chopped Italian sandwich Various rolls options ... none real French bread type. Pantedossi bread one option. I choose the seseme roll. Cost 18.14 for sandwich... holy Batman for price. Too expensive for my lunch unless a real great Italian. This sandwich is as follows: Roll not fresh daily ... 1-3 days old but still fresh . Other delis I visit for my Italians baked own bread, or an Italian French bread crunch. Minimal meat for 18 bucks... chopped up gimmick I guess ok... needed oregano, oils, pepper or something like Jersey Mikes or Tutto Italiano of Hyde park, Wellesley, more meat and cheaper price like Lamberts deli of Westwood, better tomatoes, high quality veggies like Amatos Italian of Maine stores.... Anyway I wasn't anyway impressed with sandwich, I don't ever see buying another sandwich at $18.14 as sandwich not not not and triple not remarkable. Sorry ... my opinion I see other reviews appear more positive. I always like to see new businesses succeed. I assume things will improve over time. I feel it was a 10-13 maximum price sandwich, but I still wouldn't want it. I was to rate with 2-3 stars but really not a real Italian

I stopped Scafidi Bros Market & Deli in Newton Centre very recently. This Italian deli & market…read moreoffers a variety of signature made to order signature sandwiches (18), homemade salads, grab & go meals, chilled desserts, Italian grocery staples, snacks, and Italian sodas. The place is pickup only as there is no seating inside this shop. The place was moderately busy when I walked in. I ordered the #3 The Jimmy ($14.95 plus tax) on choice of bread (I chose Sesame Seed Bread), which had breaded Chicken Cutlets, Marinara Sauce, Mozzarella Cheese. I also picked up a Macaroni Salad ($6.95 plus tax) and a heat & serve Chicken Cacciatore ($10.95 plus tax), pay at the front register. I enjoyed my #3 sandwich, which was 9" long & 4" wide, really 2 sandwiches. The breaded chicken cutlets were very tender and the sauce was hearty. The macaroni salad had cavatappi pasta with mayo, carrots, red peppers. The chicken cacciatore had 2 thick pieces of chicken (need to cut) with peppers, onions, & red sauce, which I reheated and mixed with some cooked ziti pasta (not included). All of the food I purchased was very tasty and I would certainly stop by again for another sandwich and some grab & go.

Wow. Just wow. Went here with my SO, who raved non stop…read moreabout this place and said it was one of the only things he HAD to do in MA. It was all that and more. First, the menu is extensive, like Cheesecake Factory extensive. If you like Mediterranean inspired food with ridiculously good bakery items that caters easily to those who are gluten free, vegetarian or vegan, do not miss this place. He got the Israeli breakfast sub vegan kofta kebabs for the tuna and I got the vegetable shakshuka. The Israeli plate is a cornucopia of items, the pics don't do it justice. The plate was bigger than his head. He was in heaven, mmmmm-ing and ohhhing as he ate. I had the shakshuka. Now, I make this at home and have eaten it at numerous restaurants. I know good shakshuka. It was divine. The perfect amount of heat, eggs were properly runny, and the veggies were a perfect balance of crunch and spring. An espresso vanilla bean hurricane, was a delightful addition to the rest of our lunch. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The cafe interior was utilitarian and well maintained. The staff delivering food were attentive to other guests needs as they walked by. All in all, excellent food and experience. I look forward to returning.

Who makes a ham & cheese without mustard?? Blandest sandwich ever. I requested barbecue chips, got billed 50 cents for it, but didn't get the chips. By the time we realized they shorted us the chips, we were on the road. I guess their golden days are past them. There are better choices. I'll miss the "old" Pressed with their flavorful sandwiches and excellent order management.

I've had just about everything on the menu and it's all been top notch Unfortunately, the rest of the store is not handled with the best customer service. The old dudes at the front are as rude to customers as they are to each other. Snarky remarks, condescending tones, and poor customer service is the norm at Marty's. The cashiers barely open their mouths. I've never heard a "thank you" or a "you're welcome" in all my time there. They barely can mutter the price of your items. I'm sorry if dodgeball was tough for them in high school but I still expect some courtesy. Just last week I watched one of the old dudes (the one who looks like he came back from a Sam Elliott look alike contest) bump into a customer and not apologize. Not only that but the customer who I would assume is a decent human being apologized to the bearded loser and the bearded loser had some snarky remark under his breath. Marty's is a good sized store and has good variety as a result. The managers and cashiers however make it really hard to continue supporting this business
