We wandered into Gung Chae because the spicy cold noodles were absolutely calling my name on a hot Vegas afternoon. Sometimes the craving makes the decision for you. This is a super casual spot with refreshingly reasonable prices. We were immediately excited when the food hit the table. The spicy cold noodles were exactly what I was hoping for: sweet, spicy, icy cold, and perfectly chewy. They were incredibly refreshing and disappeared fast. We also ordered the hot stone vegetable bibimbap, which had a great variety of vegetables and was well seasoned throughout. Nothing flashy, just a really satisfying bowl that let the ingredients shine. This is the kind of neighborhood restaurant I wish we had back in the Bay Area. I'd be here all the time. Came here for dinner. It's a small restaurant and you order at the counter. They have free cold water in the front near the cashier. I got the bulgogi meal box Dosirak with kimchi stew. My spouse got a plate of bulgogi. The bulgogi had good flavor but was a touch fatty. The kimchi stew was delicious, I loved it! The cucumber kimchi and radish kimchi were good! Gung Chae is an absolute gem if you're looking for an amazing, healthy Korean meal! I ordered the Kimchi Stew, and it hit the spot. It was perfectly flavorful and comforting. As you can see from the picture, the presentation is excellent. It came served on a tray with a side of white rice (in the classic covered bowl), a fresh side salad, delicious house-made kimchi, and some savory japchae. The entire restaurant is incredibly clean with a small seating area with plenty of room for a small group. I ordered the spicy pork bento box, which came with soybean paste stew, rice, and a variety of banchan. love this place! It's so good and the food truly does taste healthy. Less sodium and oils. I always get the hot veggie bibimbap. But here is why I give it 4 stars. I typically add tofu to this dish and the first time I went, the employee asked the owner and she said yes but it's an extra $2 which I am totally ok with paying. But every time I go now, which at one point was everyday in the week, they tell me I can't do it or it's not allowed. At one point, they forgot the egg and didn't have some of the veggies. When I asked, they said they ran out. Wish it was more transparent since I've memorized the dish and know what is missing. What if you are new and don't know what is missing in the dish? The portion is perfect. And the taste has been consistent. The kimchi is perfect for me as it's not spicy and it's made in-house. You can even order a jar to go home. Passed this restaurant on our way to another but we were a bit early. Apparently, the adjacent restaurants open at 11AM. No problem, the chef, Ms. Janet, graciously let us in, even though Gung Chae also does not open until 11AM. We ordered the Bulgogi meal box. It included the most delicious soy soup, sides of cucumber, radish, fried tofu, and a sort of noodle salad. It is not enough to say the food was enjoyable. It tasted like home cooking, something that can rarely be found in a restaurant. They seem to have gotten our order wrong and overcharged us. How could that be a positive you are thinking? Well, our server, Jayden discovered this mistake himself, and not only informed us, but made sure we understood we were overcharged and immediately gave us a refund for the difference. This type of honesty is very rare, I have found. So, good home cooked Korean food, excellent service, and refreshingly honest staff. What is not to like. Awesome Korean restaurant located in the northwest corner of the Las Vegas valley. Gung Chae located at 5655 Centennial Center Blvd, Las Vegas NV 89149 has many awesome Korean dishes. It is located in the parking lot across from Trader Joe's and right next to Smashburger in a strip mall so there are plenty of parking available. I've tried different dishes here already and today I ordered the Cold Noodles in Cold Broth or better known as Naengmyeon. On a hot or warm day in Vegas, nothing helps you fill your stomach better than this dish. Noodles are made from buckwheat and potato starch, thinly cut cucumbers, and half cut egg on top. The side dishes consisted of Baechu Kimchi and salad on their individual small plates. Service was terrific. Madison was very kind and polite. The restaurant is designed for quick eating so there isn't many tables which is fine. Most people I've seen visiting order their meals to go when there are plenty of tables. Overall, this has become my favorite Korean restaurant which saves me 20-25 minute to the Spring Mountain Rd area near the Strip to fill my Korean dish cravings. read more

Centennial has a gem of a Korean spot in Gung Chae!! It was so hard to choose what to eat. We ordered behind 2 other ladies and as soon as we saw their bowls we followed suit. I also ordered a spicy chicken kimbap (we just finished yoga in Lee Canyon and I was starving but my eyes were bigger than my stomach). The bowl comes with house made kimchi and salad as a side and it's so delicious. The hot stone kind of toasts the rice a little which gave it such an amazing flavor. I will be back!!! I cannot give a review based on my own taste since I did not have an opportunity to taste the food myself. I came here as a request for my sick friend who was craving comfort food from his Korean upbringing. He was not feeling well at all and wanted soybean stew with extra kimchi. I didn't know where to go to get that so he recommended this place(he has never been here but knew it was in the area), so I went. The service was great! The young lady taking my order was sweet and respectful. The ambiance was clean and tidy. It was a small shop with some tables and chairs for a small crowd. I would like to go back and try this place for myself one day. Maybe one day soon because when I asked how the food was, my friend said it was good. He said it really helped him feel better. He just really needed a taste of home. They also offer a military discount. I'll be back again and update my review for a more personal experience with the food. Y'all should try it too! read more

I was barely there for 5 mins when i saw the cook, older female, drop cooking tongs in trash, pick them out and just rinse them off and go back to using them. She then also dropped a spatula on the floor and did the exact same thing, go rinse off for legit seconds and go right back to cooking with them. She also used a spoon to taste a broth and put spoon down on counter, then picked same spoon back up to get more ingredients with that spoon and then stir the broth with same spoon and put it back on counter. There were soo many health violations within what now was 10mins of me waiting for a delivery order. read more

Second time ordering via DoorDash/postmates and the food always arrives fresh and hot, always adds utensils and the stews always are full of flavor and such a comfort food while the kids and I are sick. Did not get a chance to take actual pictures of the food because both times we have been sick but I've attached what I've ordered and I highly recommend this place. Great option for Korean food without having to go to Spring Mtn.! Over two trips, I ordered the sullungtang and kimchi jjigae for my parents, and a combo B with seafood stew and galbi and a beef kalguksu for us. They were all great. My parents liked the sullungtang, although my mom said they put regular noodles in it, instead of glass noodles. We brought home the broth from the beef kalguksu (5/5) and I used it to make dduk mandoo soup with it. Yum! Also brought home the leftover seafood soondooboo 4/5) and the galbi (4/5), which made for a perfect lunch the day after. A great addition to the northwest. In the Trader Joe's parking lot so parking is a non-issue. read more

The quick service was clean and well organized. The how to decor was interesting to see the process of how their products are made. The soup was seasoned but no salt which was perfect for me. Their kimchi was perfect not too spicy and full of flavor. The coleslaw side salad was light and left me wanting more. The rice was fluffy and slightly sticky. If you live out in Centennial and you're into Korean food, you don't have to waste too much time looking around the north west part of the valley to find a good Korean restaurant because you have Gung Chae in the Centennial Center shopping area. I just got back from Korea and while the tastes of the dishes are definitely sweeter and more Americanized, the taste and portion was good. I opted for the combo and while I wish I could have gotten more banchan, they told me no. Another party also advised the staff they were allergic to nuts and after they got their plate, there was literally nothing on there except for beef and rice, no substitute for anything. So while I find the value lacking here, I really do recommend going to Gung Chae. I'm still in the search for Mulhoe. read more

I'm in this plaza regularly to go to Trader Joes and recently saw this spot open up - it's a fast casual Korean spot with a healthy slant. Based on other reviews here, they seem to have a pretty straightforward menu with a more approachable flavor profile. I came in on a cold day after a nearby workout and ordered the kimchi tofu stew (came with rice, extra kimchi, and a cabbage salad) and the spicy chicken kimbap, total was about $20. If you dine in, your meal will come out in the traditional metal and ceramic dishes. The kimbap is packed for takeout. The soup was good, served bubbling hot, and I took about half of the portion home. The kimbap held up well, and I thought the spicy chicken filling was okay - I haven't really seen it elsewhere, would consider coming back to try the bulgogi version on another visit. Service was polite, location was clean, they have a self service drink station with takeout boxes ready to go. They have a second location in Henderson as well. read more

Gung Chae Korean Healthy Kitchen (at this time) has two locations. One in Henderson and one in the Centennial part of Las Vegas. The Centennial location is small and casual. You order and pay at the counter and seat yourself or do take out. We tried a Spicy Chicken and a Bulgogi Hot Stone Pot Bibimbap. They came with fresh crisp cabbage salad, Kimchi and Korean Hot sauce (not too hot). We also shared a Banchan Combo. Portions are generous and we took some home. We were impressed with the spicy chicken. It didn't get over cooked in the HOT bowl and was really DELICIOUS. The bulgogi was ok but not nearly as flavorful as the spicy chicken. The people working there were nice and asked how things were. The only issue that could possibly be a problem for some people is that the food trays might be too heavy for a few people to carry to their tables. YES! The Hungry Monster and I have been waiting for a decent Kimbap spot to pop up I. The Centennial Hills area. Enter Gung Chae. Located in the Trader Joe's shopping center, there is definitely plenty parking. It's cute. Capacity is about 30 people or so. So big groups will fill up really quick. The staff here are really friendly and inviting. Ordering is very simple. Bimbap, Kimball, hot noodles, and desserts. There is also house made kimchi as well. What ordered: 29 - spicy pork combo 31 - beef short rib combo Both with beef kalguksu soup Hungry Monsters verdict? It's Gooooood lol. Yes she was happy. The soups are big portions. Hungry monster shared with Mama monster and it filled up. Lucky we were done Christmas shopping because this almost put us to sleep. The broth was not overwhelming or too bland. Just like Baby Bear from that ol school story, it was just right. The combos come with a salad and house kimchi that was totally completed at the end of the meal. It is safe to say, we will be back. 4 stars for now, and a re-review later after we come back several times for consistency. Oh my god, this is my new favorite restaurant!! I spotted this place while heading to Trader Joe's and immediately I knew I was going to love it. I took a peak at their menu and told my fiance, "We have to try this place!" Fast forward to a few days later, we decided it was time to stop in. It's so clean and modern inside with limited seating. I loved the open kitchen concept! The staff was soo friendly! They greeted us as soon as we walked in and everyone said goodbye when we left. They were patient with us while we decided on what we were going to order and they let me sample a few of their drinks. We ended up ordering 2 Meal Boxes. One with Spicy Chicken and Kimchi Stew and one with Bulgogi and Soybean Stew. The spicy chicken was amazing! They were small pieces and they were also really tender. The kimchi stew was probably my favorite part of the meal. It was so tasty and had such great flavor to it. I paired it with the white rice and wow, I'm definitely coming back for the kimchi stew alone. Overall, the quality of food we had was well worth the price. There were only a few pieces of chicken and a lot of rice. I added the two sauces and kimchi which helped with flavor but expected more flavor and spice based on the description. The food was served like an authentic Korean meal with my protein and all the banchan. The restaurant had a moderate noise level but you could will carry a conversation with no issue.
