We had a reservation for dinner on 12/20 at 6:30 pm. Knowing it was the holiday season and that Dahlonega is a popular destination, we intentionally made a reservation so our family could enjoy a relaxed dinner together during our visit. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in several ways. Cons: Despite having a reservation, we waited an excessive amount of time to be seated. Once seated, our table was visibly dirty. When a server finally came by, bread was delivered without plates, utensils, or napkins, which required an additional long wait. Service throughout the meal was extremely slow. We watched several other parties arrive, dine, and leave while we were still waiting. The chicken piccata was not prepared correctly and tasted more like a sour Alfredo-style sauce. The steak was chewy and not cooked as ordered. Pros: We received a small complimentary cannoli for a birthday, which was appreciated. The ambiance was festive and nice for the holidays. Had we known about the level of service and food quality ahead of time, we would have chosen to dine elsewhere during our visit. Wish the apples were cut up into smaller, easier to eat pieces. Our server forgot we moved inside and we saw our food sitting at the table outside and had to bring it in ourselves. Overall: pretty location and good food, service and interior aren't up to par if you're looking for a classy, high-end dinner experience I would pick somewhere else.

The dining room was mostly occupied but not entirely packed. I had the Amalfi dream, Greek salad and the shrimp scampi. All was great. The almafi dream was sweet but not too much, it was smooth. The shrimp scampi was so flavorful and cooked well. The Greek salad was such a fresh and flavorful start to our meal. We were celebrating my partner's new job, so I requested for a celebratory dessert for him. It took a while to come out and when it finally did, the ice cream was melted to the point where it looked more like milk floating atop as if it was sitting there for a while until it was served to us. They didn't even say anything or make it special. It was just silently placed on the table - QUITE UNDERWHELMING. It was still very delicious regardless but that diminished the presentation and joy of the moment. Since the food and beverage were quite pleasing along with the ambience, I'd love to come again but to have a more efficient and attentive waiter who wouldn't drag out our dinner for 2+ hours. I'd expect more attentive and focused service at such a nice establishment.

Sounds good and sounds like they knew about it. They got heath checked again a month later and well the same issue on food temps was still an issue. The service is not always great. We have been and walked out after 15 mins of being ignored and it was not super busy. Then on other times the service was slow, had to ask for refills and if you get appetizers and share plates please note they won't clear the table till you leave so yes you can sit there with your dirty plates and look at them and your empty glass that you want more drink in. I have mentioned it to the owner and he said while we do have young kids working here. That's an excuse and a training along with management issue. I worked as a server at the same age and knew what the restaurant standards were. Onto the food. It's Italian but in reality it is pizza and sandwiches. The pizza dough is thick and since I have been to Italy it is nothing like Italy. I've been to New York, Chicago and Detroit and it's none of those styles either. It's thick dough that I have had not cooked all the way through. Also you pay per topping and I will say the price for the amount of toppings is way off and not worth it. The sandwich is decent. I think the bread is made there so plus on that. They use boars head so basically it's similar to any other local sandwich shop. We did have dessert. I think they may make the cakes there but we had cannolis and the shells came out of a box and not sure about the crème since it was already in a pipping bag. Overall this place is meh. It probably stays in business because near the square there are not a lot of choices so people get pizza and they deliver when others don't go that far. So that's probably their bread and butter. Those looking for a good Italian dinner are just not going to Also when you go there is wiring over by doors and you can see in the pictures. It doesn't seem safe and done properly.

A long wait later she told my husband they made a meatball parm in error and would he take it. They offered to make the sausage parm as a to go. The Rubin was very good. The meatball parm was just ok. They definitely need some training on how to run a sit down restaurant. Also training on how to prep food and have it go out at the same time for full party. The waitress did not even apologize for the somewhat strange service. I also thought rubys was known for their take home and heat meals. A lady stopped by for a dinner and was told they had none I hope they get it together soon!

I wish I could give less than one star! What a horrible experience. My family were on vacation and wanted to try this restaurant. We had teens & kids, so we thought pizza was a great choice. We stood in line at least an hour to be told that they would not seat us. I have never been to a restaurant that refused to seat paying customers. We were a large party, but when we offered solutions, the manager screamed and yelled at us. It was the rudest customer service that I have ever seen!! Who does that??? Read the other reviews, I wish I had....we are not the first family to get "Refuse Service". Helpful hint. Check out North Georgia Bar-B-Q, down the street. Fabulous food and outstanding customer service!! PS. Several families left the line when they saw first hand how we were treated. No one in the other stores or restaurants were surprised by our encounter. It is a reoccurring management problem. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. The hatred they have towards innocent, loving customers is so cruel. I will never step foot in this place because of how hurtful they were to one of the sweetest families I know. I could not believe what I heard. NEGATIVE ENERGY, NEGATIVE PEOPLE, NEGATIVE SPACE. So very disappointed in what people are capable of for no apparent reason. This place will not last with the way they treat people. They need a huge awakening. Only prayers for these cruel people. It was after the lunch rush and only about 12 guests were in there. I could see into the kitchen and the lazy cooks were goofing off and standing around joking with each other.BUT, ABOVE ALL THEY ARE CHEATERS! They charged $21 on my credit card and I signed for $19! I contested it and got my money back. But, what cheaters! Never again.I know everyone can have a bad day, but to lie about the bill speaks of they're integrity. I will never trust them again. STAY AWAY!!! Horrible Attitude Towards Large Parties. Family of 22 waiting for 45 minutes before the doors open and we were told by management that they wouldn't seat more than 6 at a time and we would have to rotate to help accommodate other guest that were "on vacation". As if we weren't on vacation as well. Obviously the business of 22 paying customers makes no sense to management. Head on over to North Georgia BBQ. They were more than happy to have our business. Finally got her attention and the stuff that was missing and she never checked on us again. Also charged us for the split dish but never said there was going to be a charge when we ordered.

Always exactly what I order, never unsatisfied with food quality, and most importantly I feel welcome! Since I have gone so many times, once I'm recognized, we make jokes that I always order "the usual," an iced tea with a bbq bacon cheeseburger (and it's true, lol). Menus and water were served promptly and the food was brought to our table piping hot. Even the fries, the failure point for most restaurants were hit and crisp. The pizzas, described as Chicago Style, were a thin crust pie. (Somebody needs to visit Chicago-Town for a primer). But, both pies disappeared. A fajita bowl and burrito bowl both vanished. My Greek gyro was overstuffed with lamb and fillings. Absolutely fantastic. And the spicy chicken fingers also vanished. Zero leftovers on ole servings. The food was that good. And service was attentive and water was consistently refilled. Just one caveat, for larger groups, Nighthawk Tavern adds a gratuity to the check. They're very transparent, as the tip is clearly shown. I still added a few bucks to the total. If you're in Dahlonega. you'll be more than happy with Nighthawk Tavern. And you certainly won't leave hungry.

I know a large styrofoam container should go at the bottom of the plastic bag, but then don't set heavy spaghetti and meatballs on top of the cheesy bread. Also negative was the attitude. I know you're busy, but then don't allow orders to be taken in the bar. Not a customer in there, but it seemed I bothered them to place my order. And then I waited 30 min for my order and didn't offer any water, even though I waited at the bar after ordering. Treat every customer like a secret shopper.

Apparently the expectation is that you study the website beforehand and arrive fully enlightened, ready to recite your order. None of us were impressed and we won't return.
