Take our advice: DON'T HESITATE to try Gusto! Our party of eight had an awesomd experience this evening from beginning to end, thanks in no small part to our server, Gloria, who was beyond attentive! All of the food was delicious (especially the homemade Caesar balsamic dressing, the tortellini in vodka sauce, the wedding soup, and the incredible meatballs), and the service was outstanding. Tough to give a full review since it was apps and drinks but not likely to return to try again. Went for the music, live/local and excellent. Strip mall Italian with a layout isn't exactly set for music and too many tables for the crowd that night. Shouldn't restaurants adapt to less busy nights? Could have cleared a couple 2 tops and made traffic flow much easier this night. Had a couple glasses of a mediocre Malbec @$7 and an antipasto which would have been better from Publix at $12 . New restaurants should be wowing folks with extraordinary effort and quality, neither was shown here. Swapped servers wo notice or reason. Took 20+ minutes to get a 2nd glass of wine and my water glass was empty for half of the evening. We finally made it over to Gusto to use our gift certificate that we were given for an engagement gift. When we walked in, the girl at the front kind of just looked at us, then finally asked what she could help us with... we were seated and the waiter came to bring us some water. We ordered lasagna and the shrimp arrabbiata. The food was really good, red sauce is very tasty. My grandmother is first generation Italian American so I know good sauce and good food. I really liked the Caesar Balsamic dressing on the salad and the olive oil for the bread was good too. The worst end to my evening at Gusto & most horrible mistake: the $8, disgusting cannoli. When I bit into the cream, I thought the ricotta was rancid. I went back and read the description again, more closely this time: it said that there were cherries (I was thinking a whole cherry on the end) and then it dawned on me; cherries in the cream! What in the world, who would do that??? What a horrible taste. I didn't touch the thing after that. My suggestion-leave the cannoli. read more

Our family went Sunday night excited about a new italian restaurant in our area. Not good. Antipasto Misto meats were straight from Publix deli. Unidentifiable cheeses. I had the Sphagetti and mussels special. The pasta was cold and with the sauce (what sauce there was) sticking the noodles together. The mussels were not fresh and very bad. My husband had the pappardelle bolognese. It was more like fettuccini with marinara. I didn't see any meat in it. The bread was good and that's about it. So disappointed because we so wanted to support this local spot. read more

Went on a crowded Friday night with a party of 5. We used to go to Toninos at the beach all the time in the 90s. Food is good but service is an issue, it's slow and not very organized. My wife ordered a pizza for her entree and it came out 15 minutes before anyone else's entree, server even seemed surprised when I fact he was the one who took the order. Everyone liked their meal we had veal, steak and shrimp dishes, the appetizers of mushrooms and mussels were good, sauce is still great. One recommendation I would definitely make is to increase the amount of pasta with the entree, I had veal parmigiana and the side of pasta was measly, surely it's not a cost issue to have a reasonable amount with the entree. Music was good, but if you're in the front expect to talk loud if you want to be heard. Overall it's still a 4 and we will be back. read more

My husband, grandson and I went on Sunday night at 7 pm for dinner. The service was TERRIBLE. We had to ask four times for butter for our bread. We ordered 3 meals and after a VERY long wait 2 meals arrived (mine was missing) and the waitress didn't know why 1 meal was not prepared. She said she would talk to the kitchen and get the owner to come over and speak to us. She never came back and the owner never came over. After sharing my grandson's meal I decided to go and find the owner myself. I told the owner what happened and he tried to say that the server was new, he never apologized or did anything to right the situation. I will never go back! read more

We came here on a spur of the moment decision, and I am so glad we did! It was last Wednesday night, so not crowded but still a good amount of patrons, and there was also a three piece band (piano, guitar, sax) playing/singing great music.....overall the atmosphere was awesome. Mario was an excellent server who was very attentive. I had the Spaghetti Carbonara which was phenomenal.... extra creamy, lots of flavor. My boyfriend had the Chicken Marsala, which he really enjoyed and the bite he let me have was delicious. Both entrees came with a house salad with this great balsamic Cesar dressing, and we got the standard basket of bread, but this bread was SO good! Fresh out of the oven, warm, soft.....I had to make myself stop eating it so I wouldn't ruin my dinner. We loved our experience here and will definitely be back! read more

Finally got a chance to check out Gusto with my very selective Italian friend last night. We arrived about 6:15 on a Friday evening and did not have a reservation. The hostess kindly/apologetically told us she only had a high-top available by the bar which was just fine with us. Jeremy quickly brought us menus, wine ($4 nice pour Happy Hour with Woodbridge, not bad!), and bread with yummy herbed EVOO. My friend ordered the Salciccia & Rapini and Melenzane Alla Parmiggiana, and I ordered the special - Grouper Bang Bang. The house salads came immediately, very fresh and their homemade cesar dressing is fantastic. The spicy italian sausage with rapini was to die for, and my picky friend said the Eggplant Parm was perfectly done. The Grouper was lightly breaded, perfectly cooked, and tasted amazing, especially after Jeremy brought me some extra sauce to give it more Bang. This dish had all of my favorites - capers, sundried tomatoes, roasted potatoes, freshly steamed broccoli, and more. We couldn't have been happier with the service, ambiance, and quality of food at Gusto. We would have loved to stay and hear Murray Goff, but had other plans. Can't wait to come back when I have more time to sample more of the menu and enjoy the music here, especially the Girls night at Gusto. See you soon! read more

What a gorgeous Italian restaurant to dine at in Jacksonville Beach. As soon as you walk in your greeted by a sweet hostess and seated to wherever you prefer that's available. We chose to sit at a high top table so we could get a full view of the whole place. To my right there was a gentleman on piano very well and sang great hit songs of the past. I loved the Italian decor, the ambience, the crowd, the vibe, the 5 star service, cleanliness, aromas, the Murray Goff entertainment, the waiter Jeremy was very welcoming , the owner Tonino was also friendly and welcoming. What's not to like about this hidden gem in Jacksonville Beach? I couldn't find anything wrong with this place. To start with the water was exceptionally refreshing to drink. I say this because when eating out I've noticed some restaurants do not even serve good water. I really enjoyed the dipping bread and olive oil which was light and flavorful and when I ordered a salad it was delivered right away followed by the spaghetti and meatballs which were very yummy. I was so thankful I had chosen to bring my dear friend out for his birthday to this charming place. Gusto gets all my stars I'll be returning to try the Salmon. read more

We ate here once about 6 months ago and thought it was great. Food was great, service was great. Then, yesterday we went back with a large family group for a birthday and experienced TERRIBLE SERVICE. We had called and made a reservation for 9 people. They squished us into a corner booth. The wait staff was very slow. They were clearly understaffed for a Saturday night. We came in around 5:45 and didn't get our food until 7:15. When we spoke up to the nearest "employee", she appeared to be the owners wife, she kept saying "oh, let me go get the manager!" She said it several times and no manager ever appeared. Two of our guests ordered a pizza and the pizza came out first, it was cold, the waitress didn't give us plates to distribute the pizza. And when the rest of the dishes came out they appeared to be thrown together. It's sad Bc the quality of the food is there! They are just lacking appropriate staff in the kitchen and in the dining rooms. Our waitress seemed to be all over the place. She had given us several extra glasses of waters, she didn't explain to us the happy hour, we didn't have enough napkins, she didn't want to give us a high chair for a 4 year to be at the end of the table, she kept saying it would be too crowded. I only saw two waitresses running that whole restaurant on a busy Saturday night. They need to get more wait staff and more experienced kitchen staff. Really sad because like I said, I feel like they are cooking with quality food, but the presentation was so poor, and the service was rotten. read more
