We have been using Gutter Ethics to clean our gutters for years and so when it came time to start looking into replacing our roof, we didn't hesitate to ask for a quote. Our plywood was starting to bend since it was old and was thinner than the standard building code currently used. Due to this, we started loosing shingles and the roof was getting soft. They have been so honest, professional, and perfectionist with the gutters and replacing our downspouts that we knew we wanted someone like that to do our roof. We got several quotes from different companies and Gutter Ethics was in the middle for price. BUT they offered the best products with their price. Our situation was a bit difficult since we were moving away from the area and renting out the home. We knew we had to replace the roof but were hoping to push it a bit further down the road but knew it would be in a year or two. That was back in June 2015 and they understood our situation. Our renters told us mid-Feb 2016, the roof started leaking in our sunroom and we had a feeling it was time. Justin Stanley sent someone out to look at the roof and also put a tarp on the sunroom to prevent damage until they were to replace it. Being such a big cost home improvement item and living in a different state, it was important to have someone responsive to us and we can't thank Justin Stanley enough for being so responsive. He always called or emailed back quickly to answer our thousand of questions. And there were a lot of questions. He was able to work the schedule to do our roof in our spring break so we could drive to VA to see the roof done. That week, it did rain and he had bad news saying our roof was being pushed to the right. Since we were half way there driving, Justin, was able to talk to another client and was able to switch us back into the schedule. We were blessed to be able to see the work done. The roof itself was done in a day because the plywood was super easy to come off...meaning, it wasn't going to last long so good thing we replaced it when we did. The guys worked hard and did an excellent job cleaning up afterwards. They replaced the skylights on the sunroom and everything looks wonderful. Even the neighbors were shocked at how fast and the great job they did. I wouldn't be surprised if our neighbors use them in the future. Gutter Ethics came back the next day and did the gutters. We couldn't happier with the work they did and so happy we got to see the finished product before heading out of state. Everything looks perfect! We only wish we could be living in the home to enjoy it right now. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company for a replacement of a roof, gutters, and even the routine gutter cleaning. Gutter Ethics did 2 jobs for me. In the fall, I had a leak in my roof. A few months after the work had been completed, a tree fell on my roof during a storm and I needed repairs. For the first job, I contacted 5 different contractors and received estimates with ranges of over $2000 difference. I tend to always choose the lowest bid, but in this particular case, I chose the highest bid and am grateful that I did so. None of the other bids included detail - The bid from Gutter Ethics included so much detail, I had to call for explanation and clarification - Mr. Stanley (owner of the business) took the time to go through item by item - including videos and photos so that I could see for myself. Being a sceptic and not knowledgeable about roofing, I still figured that a lot of these repairs might still be unnecessary, so I did ask a friend who knew more than me and he told me I was lucky a lot these things had been caught. None of the other 4 companies did anything more than give me an estimate on the 1 leak. So, if they had seen these other items, it would mean they intended to get the job, start work, and then upsell me - which I would not have appreciated! OR, it would mean I would have had more problems in the very near future. The work, when it was done, was done very professionally and done very well. The workmen were not your typical "be high on the job" types that you run into...they were efficient, hard-working and cordial. I do have to be honest to say that I had to wait a long time for the repairs to be completed. Between a lot of rain both in the fall and spring (which meant the crews got backed up and meant postponements) and working with a company that had a lot of jobs lined up, I did get a bit frustrated about how long I had to wait. But when I was frustrated, I would reach out. Mr. Stanley was almost always available to speak to me and when he was not, I received a phone call back within a day. He always took time to explain why there was a delay. I so much appreciated the very clear and prompt communication that was always available to me. And most importantly, I feel my roof will be in great shape now for many years to come. read more

I called Justin after discovering that my roof had terrible wind damage, as well as raccoon damage. His company came highly recommended from a friend, and my insurance adjuster deemed my roof as needing to be replaced. Justin was very easy to talk to on the phone, totally understood my problem and concerns, especially the thought of a raccoon gaining entry to my attic. He had John come and take a very explicit video of what my roof looked like, it was horrifying! He assured me that they would be able to repair any damage, as well as completely replace the roof with way better shingles than what I currently had. My current shingles could withstand winds of up to 50 mph, Justin was replacing my roof with shingles that could withstand 110 mph winds, big improvement! Once he submitted me the quote, I sent it to my insurance adjuster, who was very impressed and agreed that I should select his company for my job. Before the work began, Justin had someone come and seal up any openings that might have issues with the weather approaching. We kept in contact up to the scheduled day of work. The workers came early that day, and worked till just before dusk. They made sure to clean up everything after they finished, I was so impressed! I am so happy with my new roof, it is so beautiful, and I now have a peace of mind that it will keep my home protected for nearly 50 years to come! I told Justin that he had ruined my day---but read on so you will understand why I am still giving Gutter Ethics 5 stars! I left a message for Gutter Ethics to request an inspection of my gutters to determine if I needed to replace or repair. When Justin called me back the next day, he started by providing extremely helpful information about the services provided by Gutter Ethics. His commitment to quality customer service sold me . This was definitely a company I wanted to consider. So, then comes the bad news---how he ruined my day! Justin asked for my address. I live in Maryland! Gutter Ethics is not yet serving customers in Maryland. Boy, was I disappointed. But Justin did not just say, 'sorry, good luck finding somebody'. We talked for another 20 minutes---after confirming that Gutter Ethics didn't serve Maryland. He discussed what I should look for when deciding on which company to do the work and he even agreed to answer any questions I might have once I completed getting estimates from other companies! I must say I got more customer service from Justin/Gutter Ethics than I have gotten from some contractors I've hired to do other work at my house! I am now considering if we can hold off on this gutter project for a few months when Justin anticipates being able to work in Maryland! I would definitely recommend this company. read more

I needed my gutter cleaned and fixed in some areas. It was very easy to make the appointment and they work like other gutter cleaning companies (make an appointment and wait until you're next on the list.) They came about two or more weeks later and gave notice an email notice the day before. I showed the technician where i needed my gutters fixed and he stated he would try. I came home later and the down spout of my gutter was still broken, there were no notes or calls stating if he was coming back to finish fixing the problem. It no longer leaks so I'm happy about that. The invoice I got later only billed me for the cleaning anyways, so its okay. I never did see the pictures and video proof of my gutters though.... UPDATE**** (Original review was 4 stars) Justin called me personally and offered to fix the down spout for free, which I am thankful for. He suggested a computer error for the mix up with the down spout (large files that might of gotten lost in the outbox) and was very apologetic about it. Its not a big deal to me and told him he didn't have to come out, but he insisted on fixing the gutter for free. We had previously used this contractor for our roofing needs and called upon them again based on the good experience we've had, when we need repairs done on the roof. The roof boards had deteriorated and was not up to code and were replaced. The crew was professional, quick, efficient and cleaned up the debris after completing the job in one day. Unfortunately, we had an incident with their supplier when the supplier's truck backed into the gutter delivering the roofing supplies splitting the gutter and denting the fascia. Justin takes pride in his company providing the best customer experience and satisfaction and works to rectify and resolve any issues arising from the job. In this case, he has taken full responsibility (with the supplier) for getting the gutter repaired and will be replacing it with a larger and better gutter than what we had. He follows through and has kept in contact with my husband on the status and scheduling. We will finally get the repair done tomorrow after waiting since the roof repair was completed in May. Except for the issue caused by the supplier, I would recommend using Gutter Ethics for your roofing needs. read more

It is rare to find a company as responsive to customer needs as Gutter Ethics and their owner, Justin. They did gutter cleaning and in the process found hail damage to my gutters, roof tiles, and other metal on the roof. I filed a claim for hail damage with my insurance company, who sent an adjuster to inspect the roof. Gutter Ethics met with them on the inspection. When the adjuster claimed that I had damage to metal on the roof and not the roof tiles, the insurance company offered to replace the metal only. This would have resulted in a $65 payment after a $1000 deductible. I elevated my claim with the insurance company, arguing that hail did not damage the metal while leaving the roofing tiles untouched. Gutter ethics provided me the photographic evidence which I forwarded to the insurance company, and came to my house to meet with adjusters on two subsequent re-inspections. Gutter Ethics has gone out of their way in working with me to get this damage approved for insurance coverage. Every interaction with Gutter Ethics has been timely and candid, and they have been a pleasure to do business with. read more

Had wind damage from Winter Storm Riley (missing siding). My insurance company told me to prevent additional damage. The Insurance company did not have anyone in this area "on their list" and suggested I find someone. I did a Google search and found a Yelp list. I scrolled through the list and noticed one company with 5 stars and over 30 reviews, and their response time was less than two hours. I made a call to Gutter Ethics and spoke with Justin. He set me up with an appointment for the next morning. The team of John and Joey were just going to put up a vapor barrier until the insurance adjuster visited. It just so happened that the insurance adjuster came by about an hour before J&J's scheduled time. With some spare siding I had from previous repairs, John & Joey were able to restore my siding to as good as new, and added a little reinforcement so that I wouldn't run into this "wind issue" again. Their professionalism and positive attitude made my stressful time manageable. I hope I never need emergency repair services again. But if I do, I will be calling Gutter Ethics before anyone. read more

Gutter Ethics is a fantastic company. It is a family business, so the owner, Justin Stanley, personally does a lot of the corresponding. The general policy is to come out within 28 business days (weather permitting) but I've never had to wait that long. His team is fast and professional, and cleans-up the front and back porches so the whole area looks great after they're done. I know some companies only clean out the gutters, maybe clean off the whole roof, and don't necessarily clean the entry/exit way - not the case here! The Gutter Ethics folks also perform a roof inspection when they're up there, take photos of anything they see that might require some maintenance, email them to you so you can see exactly what needs to be done, and they give options and recommendations if there's more than one way to address the issue. The prices they quote for maintenance work have also always been fantastic, and they're fast getting that work done, too. I can't recommend them highly enough. GREAT. Seriously very good. You won't be cheated, over-priced, or disrespected. If you don't want to waste your time shopping around, you'll be treated more than fair with Gutter Ethics, and if you do shop around, it's likely not worth your time and energy considering the price and service I got. If this was a prom date, you'd beg this guy to ask out your daughter even if they were seeing someone else. I called via Angies list, got an immediate call back, met with someone within a a72 hour window for non-urgent hail damage, they coordinated it all with the insurance company and regularly called me and kept me in the loop. My wife wanted it done quickly, and they moved up the work ASAP and got it done, no muss, no fuss. Justin Stanley ALWAYS remembered my name and the work I had going on, and was flexible and professional every time we spoke. The price was almost flexible, and he arranged it so that I paid about $150 of the overall price into my deductible, even with higher quality materials than were absolutely necessary for the job. I just spoke with company owner, Justin, and was very, very impressed with his honesty, integrity and advice for a relatively small repair of my gutters (put on by another company), which he felt needed to be handled immediately. Unfortunately, the holidays and current job bookings would delay the repair, which he felt couldn't wait, due to the winter weather conditions. Justin took the time to tell me how to explain the situation (using proper construction terms) and what needed to be done, to correct the problem. He also gave me a ballpark price range to expect. He apologized for not being able to service our house for this repair, but put us into the computer system, to make things easier for future business. Since the company also does roofing, etc., I suspect I will be using it in the future, as well as refering neighbors. Justin was delightful and quite professional. Two years ago, Gutter Ethics did a first class job in putting up new gutters for me. Not only were their suggestions--wider gutters in the back for instance--spot on, but I appreciated their willingness to use my existing copper downspouts instead of pushing me to buy new ones. From securing the estimate to having the work done, it was easy and a pleasure to deal with them. They are consummate professionals. I now turn to them for cleaning my gutters in the spring and again in the early winter. Only once was there a slight problem, when the cleaning left some dirt on my porch railing, which I cleaned up. When I mentioned it, they immediately gave me a $50 discount, which more than made up for the slight problem. I wish I could give Justin and his team at Gutter Ethics even more stars! They cleaned our gutters and did a good job but recently, we put our house on the market. The home inspection discovered a roof leak and we were left needing a specialty shake architectural roof fixed with a quick turnaround. They got out to the house, identified the issues immediately, and came back as promised and fixed it affordably and well. Communication was great and that's usually such a challenge with any contractor. I'm sure their gutter work is great, and I'll hire them for that some day, but I can speak to their roof work which is outstanding;, they went above and beyond for us without trying to pad the bill or recommend needless things.
