I left a review 6 months ago and hadn't been back because of the price hike. I decided to give it another try, and I will never be back. The place is a health violation!!! I observed the worker prepping food in the back, and as he came up front he wiped his sweaty head with bare hands and wiped them on his pants! He took my order and didn't wash his hands. I had to wipe my own table, as it and several others were dirty. For some reason, I still ate my food. The quality was okay. I have ordered their regular gyro, chicken gyro, Philly Gyro probably at least 3 times each. My workplace has tied up with them through Foodsby, which is what I use to order. The meat is tasteless and dry. Thetzatziki sauce just tastes like yogurt and the bread it comes with one you can buy at a grocery store. Easily one of the best gyros that I've found in or outside Atlanta. Called 10 minutes before I left work and the food was hot and ready. The staff is polite and the restaurant is clean. Falafel was like a hockey puck and it tasted like no other falafel I've ever had before. It broke apart like a clif bar that's been dried out by the sun for a week. French fries are homemade and delicious like other reviews have stated. I ordered the Sriracha ranch chicken gyro. Chicken was hand battered and was very good. The ranch sauce was off its game a bit. It tasted like miracle whip only and a little heat after. So the whole gyro ended up tasting like miracle whip and killed the chicken. I will try this place again (not for a while) but the house of hummus near north point killed this place and there falafel was the best I've ever had in my life no question. read more

I'm wavering just a tiny bit toward 2 stars because some of the dishes were disappointing. But the staff was friendly, the place was clean and inviting, they have WiFi, and some items were decent. I had the gyro plate and the lamb was tender, the fries were tasty (but not crisp), and the pita was soft and fresh. The tzatziki sauce was okay, but nothing exciting. The Greek salad was flavorful but they are stingy with the feta and they use a vinaigrette that gives is a brown cast (Balsamic, I think) which initially makes you think the lettuce had gone bad. The two items I really did not like were the spanakopita and dolmades. The spanakopita was deep fried which destroyed the delicate texture of the filo, brought out the bitterness of the spinach, and was an oily lump of grossness. The dolmades contained no visible lamb and the rice was a goopy bland mass. My daughter really loved her chicken gyro, my son loved his gyro, and we all enjoyed the hummus appetizer. So in the end, there was enough good food to make a lunch and we just skipped the bletchy bits. read more

I found Gyro King in Alpharetta after discovering Café Efendi was closed and awaiting their reopening at a new location. Gyro King is a no frills place with an atmosphere is that a typical strip mall, franchise restaurant. First up was the spanakopita appetizer. It was very unique. The dough was like a combination of traditional phyllo and a spring roll or egg roll wrapper. An excellent choice. My entrée was the falafel platter. The falafel was not the best I've ever had. It was a bit gritty on the outside. My date seemed to believe that the falafel was the instant kind, not made from scratch. I did not know for sure. The fries were very good in my opinion but my date didn't care for them. The side salad was also enjoyable but it was oversaturated in balsamic dressing. Next time I will request that the dressing be placed on the side. Great grilled pita bread. The tahini is a bit watery and light on distinctive flavor. Value for the money was ok to good, depending on the item and the service was friendly and speedy. Gyro King will do in a pinch but I will order the vegetable pita instead of the falafel on the second visit there. read more

This place was head and shoulders above the closer option in Johns Creek - Grecian Gyro. Why was it so much better? 1. The meat was fresh and plentiful. They shaved it right off the spit, and then sautéed it on the griddle to heat it up. 2. They did not skimp on the meat - my Gyro Salad was loaded with meat. 3. The fries my husband ordered were super crispy - not at all undercooked. 4. Our food was ready in only about 5 minutes. Once, at Grecian Gyro, I ordered ONLY a side of gyro meat, and waited 15 min while they filled other orders. When they finally filled my order 15 min later, they used tongs to pull some chewy, old meat from a metal warming pan, they did not shave it fresh. I was so mad! Totally not worth it. You will not be disappointed at Gyro Cafe. Totally worth it. And we got to park right in front - not a busy shopping center. read more

I got the chicken gyro minus the pita with Greek fries. Wanna know how much that cost me? 5.99 plus tax! They gave me so much food I thought I was going to pop. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, the veggies on top were very fresh and the fries, oh the fries, they are delicious. I was really expecting to be disappointed and I was pleasantly suprised. Don't let me forget the Greek sauce/ yogurt dip. It is awesome and they will happily give you more if you ask. I went again yesterday, just two days after my first visit. Get in my belly! Also, they are owned by the infamous Taverna Plaka so you know they are legit. They do serve a pretty wide selection of bottled beers as well. In that area of town, they don't seem to believe in fast food drive through so was discouraged by the challenge in having to walk in to order... there is ample parking behind the strip of restaurants. The prices are pretty low and the gyros are great.We ordered at the front counter and the food was brought to our table.The menu has plenty of options to choose from. I've tried the Philly Chicken Gyro and the regular Chicken Gyro. By far, the Chicken Gyro is amazing. Plenty of chicken, you can add as much tzatziki sauce as you want (if thats what you like). Been here several times and I love their Gyro Platter. They give a lot of real gyro meat, with good Greek Fries and Greek Salad. The tzatziki is also very good here...if you are looking for Gyro, I highly recommend... So...why just three stars...well...Wifey went with me and she likes kabobs...well, these were, to be nice, not very good. I don't know if they were having an off day or what...but my Gyro was still great...and her kabobs...well, bordered on inedible. She actually ate part of my gyro (and she is NOT a lamb fan!). I had the gyro combo, which was exactly what you'd expect, but seemed to be a bit bigger and more filling than other places. It tasted great - not disappointed at all. I had the fries (typical frozen then deep fried fries...they were fine for what they were) and sweet tea. I LOVE super-sweet tea...and this one didn't disappoint! It was very sweet tea. The usual lady that I used to see was changed to some dude. The dude was very friendly and attentive. Really good service. Layout and the menu was pretty much the same. When I went to pickup, they said they found the order, made it while I waited, then it turned out to be someone else's order. They found it again, made it, and 40 minutes after my original pickup time I was finally home with the food. It was only adequate. The gyro meat and the fries were dripping with oil. The babaganoush was ok, but not very flavorful. Large chunks of eggplant, which I'm not used to. I hadn't been there since it was called Gyro King several years ago. I'm glad to find this place. They are not grilling precut gyros. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Superb gyro taste. I fell in love with their French fries. It's better than most gourmet burger place fries. Never expected a gyro place to have this much good fries. All vegetables were fresh and taziki sauce was lighter than most places I visited which is a big plus for me. I always complain about other places sauces to be creamy and heavy. This one is not very light but at the perfect mix and density. I just moved to Atlanta and I'll be your regular customer. I'll try other menu items at my next visits.
