I was visiting friends, and since her family is pretty big, this has become their go-to restaurant. She mentioned that the staff never hesitates when a large party walks in and always accommodates everyone without making it feel like an inconvenience. The dining room is one large, open space with tables throughout, creating a lively atmosphere. I absolutely loved it. It was filled with people enjoying incredible food, and you could tell this place was a local favorite. Of course, I had to start with one of their Greek beers, served in a traditional beer mug, which was the perfect way to kick off the meal. We also ordered the tzatziki and hummus sampler, and I'm so glad we did. The flavors were unbelievable, and they were incredibly generous with the warm pita bread. Honestly, I ate so much of the sampler that by the time it came to order my entrée, all I could manage was a piece of grilled chicken. Even then, I found myself dipping the chicken into the hummus and tzatziki because they were just that good. I left completely full, happy, and even had leftovers to take home. The staff was fantastic--everyone worked together seamlessly, helping one another and making sure every table was taken care of. It created such a welcoming atmosphere. After eating here, it's easy to understand why this restaurant has so many outstanding reviews. The food, service, and overall experience absolutely live up to the hype.

Next to the restaurant there are amazing stores and when your done eating you can go shopping. I got the Greek salad which is a staple there, the fresh vegetables and the cheese is the right amount of bite. I would have ordered two salads because you really want your own. We had the warm pita bread with the taziki, the best part of the meal, this is freshly made and trust me, you taste the garlic in every bite. It's so fresh and homemade. The spanakopita is ok, I get it every once in a while but it's not my favorite. They make a lot of good dishes. I highly recommend this place.

It was founded by owner Christos "Chris" Charoudis, the restaurant's menu is largely inspired by traditional family recipes. Chris's mother, Eleni, personally quality-controlled the dishes to ensure authenticity. This is the original restaurant, at the corner of Lantana Rd. & Jog, a second is on Congress, They have expanded & during covid outdoor dining in the parking lot was created. There is a free parking in front along with a steady stream of pick up traffic. The menu offers extensive Greek dishes with servers being very quick & efficient. Portions at Chris' Taverna are enormous. One plate is enough for more than enough for 2 of us to share. The restaurant is casual, reservations are not accepted, it's first come & first serve. Tonight six of us met here for dinner. We arrived before 6:00 and waited only a few minutes for a table. When we left there was a line outside. When we were seated we were given water & a garlic spread with warm fresh pita. We all shared babaganosh & generous delicious dips. My husband & I shared a gyro salad with lots of grilled lamb, more than enough for us both. Others enjoyed greek chicken salad, shrimp with pasta, and spanakopita. Everyone brought leftovers home, enough for a few meals. Happily we weren't rushed.

As a Greek (and former chef), I was genuinely excited after about ten people insisted this was "the spot" when I moved to Delray Beach. So naturally, I came in expecting something remotely...Greek. Quick reality check for fellow reviewers: 1.Have you ever actually been to Greece? Not the airport. Not a cruise stop. I mean eaten real Greek food. 2.Do we all agree on what goes into a Greek salad and a proper gyro, or are we just improvising at this point? Because what I saw felt more like a creative writing exercise than a recipe. 3.If your rating is based on portion size, then yes, congratulations, you got a lot of food. But let's not confuse quantity with authenticity (or quality). That's how we end up with 4.6 stars. I won't even get into presentation, because that would require there being something recognizable to present. This place would have been closed in a week in NYC! If this is your introduction to Greek food, I apologize on behalf of an entire country.

They have some small two top tables inside and a couple high tops outside. They had a board with lunch specials on it. But we wound up ordering from their regular menu. I got the moussaka and he got pasticchio. Both dishes came with a very generously sized Greek salad and warm pita wedges to start. The salads had tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, onions, pepperoncinis, and romaine lettuce topped with feta cheese and dressing. There was also a small rice stuffed grape leaf -- cut in half. The salad could have been a meal in itself. The moussaka was layered egg plant and potatoes with a ground beef filling topped with cinnamon béchamel sauce. The pasticchio is the Greek version of lasagna but with elbow macaroni. Both portions were quite filling. I ate my dish and he brought half of his home. He was saving room for dessert. For dessert, he had galaktoboureko which is a custard filled pastry topped with simple syrup. He said it was good, but it would have been better if warmed. Or at least if the syrup was warm. We had very good service. If you like Greek food and are in the area, this is a good place to try. Large portions at reasonable prices.

I usually ate here at least twice a month or more for six years. And brought guests constantly . The food was always well prepared and at a reasonable price. The owner was always very friendly. BUT I will never again go back to Sofra after my experience last night. Last night I went with a couple of people that I had raved about this restaurant to. The owner, who certainly must've recognized me from the countless times I've eaten there in five years, barely grunted at me and the vibes I got from him were not very welcoming. He seemed really angry about something and was taking it out on his customers. There was only one other table that had customers and this was a Friday night. I found that really odd because other restaurants surrounding Sofra had lots of people sitting outside eating at their restaurants I ordered a falafel plate and others at our table ordered the İskender and another entrée. I practically passed out when I got the bill because I guess I didn't check the prices when I was ordering. The falafel plate, which was basically a spoonful of salad, a spoonful of rice, a few hard burned falafel, soup and a dribbling of tahini was $33. This is obscene. When this restaurant first opened they were charging for the same plate $15 and then they went to $25 after a few years which I thought was pretty high for the food we were getting but $33 is just plain greedy. I won't even do a review on the other two entrées because my party could barely eat them. I now see why there was nobody, literally nobody in this restaurant on a Friday night. And the owner, what happened to him? he used to be such a friendly guy and now he is just an angry man. The waitress never went back to check on us and refill our water after taking our order. Despite only two tables with customers in this restaurant. I read some of the reviews where owner says he hates the fucking country so why doesn't he just leave? There's plenty of really good Mediterranean restaurants that are not going to charge this kind of money for Mediterranean food. Even if the felafel was the best falafel I've ever eaten in my entire life - $33 is crazy. And it was not very good felafel - in fact all the food is mediocre. Where it once was amazing. So my suggestion to the owner is to lower his prices, improve the quality of his food and improve his attitude

Now, I had no idea when I walked in here that this was a chain. With over 25 franchises across the country this business which started as a small shop in Nevada has become a leader in Mediterranean food. And don't dare call it fast food. It is good food. It is healthy food. It is delicious food. And if this franchise is indicative of what it is like in all of their locations, I will probably be visiting them when I am in their cities. I ordered the Greek salad with a chicken skewer and falafel because I wanted to taste a few things. I got a large salad because I was hungry. I could not finish it. It was too much for one and probably enough for two if they are not big eaters the chicken skewer was delicious with perfectly seasoned chicken which was cooked perfectly as well. It is so unusual to get skewers to taste this good and even more so in a restaurant that is not so fancy. By the way, when I say not so fancy because I ate in, I was served on regular plates, not paper. The falafel was not the best I had but far from the worst. I prefer a bit more of the Middle Eastern flavors, but I found it very satisfying and happily ate it all. The greens, the olives, the hot peppers, everything in the salad was delicious. They did not overdress the salad, so it was not soggy like many ordered and similar restaurants. The people that took the order were really nice and friendly, and they brought my food to me at the table. They have beverages which I enjoyed. It was surprisingly uncrowded, but there seem to be an excellent takeout business as they were constantly sending bags out I have bookmarked this is a place to stop when I am driving by. It is not inexpensive, but it is well priced for the quality that they give you. Highly recommended.
