Was more than pleasantly surprised!! I expected some average food given the prices. I was admittedly spoiled where I am from in WA state...had an amazing Greek restaurant we visited a few times a month. Since moving to CT we have hit up some others. While none were bad, nothing left us feeling excited to go back. Until Gyro Love. The food looked, smelled, and tasted very fresh, not "mass produced". Granted it was slow while we were there (they seems to do a great takeout business) bit the service was stellar. They were all genuine, no robots going through the motion. Seemed like it may be family owned/staffed but not certain. I am guessing so because of the way we were treated....the little things mattered to them. Even without the food and the amazing smells you can tell the level of pride they take in there. The atmosphere is anything but cookie cutter restaurant. It was a relaxing feel of a Greek hangout. Since we were there and the menu doubled up with the other side of the business, PizzaPie wood fired pizza, I went for a small calzone as well. Let me just say 37 years in the Army taught me to eat. I was vert shocked when the "small" calzone cameout especially given it's price (14.50). You can't go a block.in CT without finding a pizza joint but this one stood out. The crust qas light and flaky, not heavy and doughy like many calzones. Flavor was on point as well. If.you are thinking... Not a fan of Greek food. Don't miss out.on this place. With the variety of food I guarantee you'll find more than a few things that will wet your appetite. I already know what I'm having when I go back my 2nd and 3rd time!

Great food, great service, the place looks amazing. Very cool decorations inside. Lots of different choices for food. Between the Greek style food and pizza you can order from both and enjoy some great food. The gyro I had was great! Very large lots of meat and tasted great!

I've been coming to Gyro Love for a while now. Lately I haven't had too much time to write reviews, but after my visit here today, I had to use a few minutes to jot down some thoughts! I've never been disappointed coming to this place. I always get the falafel, and it never disappoints. Fresh, hot, crisp on the outside, very flavorful...great stuff! They pile on the cool toppings of fresh tomatoes and cucumber, which adds the perfect balance to the hot falafel. The pita bread and fries seem like they are always hot and fresh as well. I normally use hot sauce or some hummus in the place of the tzatziki sauce. The perfect all around meal for me. When I go with my wife, another thing we get is the sample platter, which has pita bread, hummus, baba ghanoush, dolmas, etc....awesome stuff! And please put the pickled onions on your food! They are the perfect condiment! In addition to the food, the service is what matters to me the most. Everyone is pleasant and helpful. This is more important to me than anything else sometimes! Stop by and grab a bite, you won't regret it!

I got the lamb gyro wrap. There's literally no flavor to it. No spices. Nothing. First time trying it out. Very disappointing.

It's very rare to find a place that does this. I was excitedand ordered two grinders. One was the Lucky Luciano and the other was the Sicilian. The. Lucky Luciano is a vegetable base with provolone cheese. It was thinly sliced provolone cheese, two slices on the entire grinder. Unfortunately, due to the marinated mushrooms and marinated eggplant. The bread was pretty soaked. I think if they used more cheese as a barrier, this sandwich could've been better. The Sicilian is basically an eggplant Parmesan. I did not care for this in Parmesan however it is edible. The eggplant was sliced, extremely thin that you could barely taste it. Instead of using melted mozzarella, there was one hunk of fresh mozzarella on the sandwich. I did feel that the prices were pretty expensive however, I probably would try the vegetable sandwich again if I eat it in person and ask them to put extra provolone around the bread . A lot of the reviews people love it here so I might try some other sandwiches however I don't eat meat so these were the two sandwiches I was interested in.

There was a sense of Deja Vu when we drove into their parking lot, because at a bare minimum, TD Homers, Bickford's, and I think Howard Johnsons were here once upon a time. As far as casual dining modestly priced. "family" restaurants go; Ellie's Farmhouse was about as good as it gets. The interior is spacious and I liked the way the booths and seating in general were well spaced so you weren't on top of another party. The dining room has a country feel to it, with wide wood plank flooring. Service was stellar and we have to give a shout-out to our wonderful server Dawn. She was everything you want in a server -personable, funny, entertaining, informative, and just plain excellent. Our lunch started off with an unusual complimentary dish. Have you ever had apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon as a free starter before? I bet your answer was "no". Their menu offers breakfast and lunch from 8:00 - 2:00 during the week and until 3:00 on the weekend. I asked Dawn why Ellie's isn't open for dinner, and she said it was the owner's decision so he could spend more time with his family every day! We both went into the breakfast menu for lunch and my wife chose a Western Omelet with onions, peppers, ham, cheddar cheese, Served with one slice of toast and your choice of home fries, hashbrowns, or tots for $14.50. I went for their Breakfast Burrito with scrambled eggs, shredded potatoes, peppers, onions, black beans, pepper jack cheese, fresh guacamole with chipotle aioli and sour cream on the side for $12. It was offered with the same choice of home fries, hashbrowns, or tots. Added protein will cost you $2. I didn't add any protein, but I did ask for hot sauce and Dawn let me know their hot sauce is house made and has a $1 surcharge. My reasonably priced $3 iced coffee was strong and flavorful and very good. Both portions were enormous so half of each came home with us. My burrito was delicious, and that hot sauce was pretty much at the upper limit of my tolerance threshold. We were both very impressed with every aspect of our lunch at Ellie's.

I walked in and from first glance, you can tell it is a staple type establishment for those within the community of Plainville. A spot that folks love to hit up in the mornings and for lunch to get their day started and to keep it going. I always can appreciate a good home-style vibe. Jim's had a few patrons inside, all having conversations with the ladies behind the counter that were making food and then the gentleman at the register as well. I will say that when I walked up to the counter, one lady looked at me as if I had a third eye, scoffed and walked away but I didn't think much of it for she may have been having a bad morning....moments later the other Woman said, "What do you want?" in a questionable tone but again, I digress for they both looked flustered. I placed an order and simply walked to the register and proceeded to grab a few more items for my review. I started off with the Pastrami Reuben on hardroll. The roll was toasted for that crispy factor and the pastrami itself, was good. You really can't go wrong when the cut on the pastrami is just right and it has a nice cut about it. The sauerkraut was ok, nothing major to write home about to be honest and it had a nice savory sauce with some Swiss cheese that. complemented the sandwich. Moving along to their macaroni salad! The mayo was tangy, and the red onions drew in the flavor profile rather nicely. It was seasoned with pepper as well and with the macaroni cooked to near perfection, you couldn't go wrong here. Now their Bacon, Egg and cheese on a hard roll left much to be desired. More BREAD than egg and bacon....You could barely see it from the side, let alone taste anything. I was sadly disappointed in their excuse for a breakfast sandwich. It lacked style, ingredients and flavor. This brings us over to their Apple Crisp! Fresh apples, cinnamon and granola goodness that made up for the horrible breakfast sandwich. Each bite of the crisp sent harps my way to play me a melody of tasty treats. Not too bad but between their. questionable customer service and my breakfast sandwich, I can only give Jim's an overall score of 3.5.

Long-time fan, but disappointed with the new Italian combo portions…read more I've been coming here for years and have always loved the Italian combo grinder -- the bread is still fantastic (crusty outside, soft inside, just right), the long hot peppers pack that perfect kick, and the overall flavor profile is still spot-on. The shop looks great after the recent updates under new ownership -- cleaner, brighter, more inviting space. That said, I was really let down on my first visit since the change. The grinder I got for lunch had noticeably less meat than before. What used to be a hearty, well-stacked sandwich with generous layers of cold cuts now felt skimpy on the protein -- probably about half (or less) the amount I was used to. The other components (cheese, veggies, hot sauce) were fine, but the lack of meat made it feel more like a veggie-heavy sub than the satisfying Italian combo I always counted on. Everything else was good -- friendly service, quick prep, fresh ingredients -- so I'm hoping this was just an off day or an adjustment period with the new team. I'd love to see the portions return to their old generous standard, because the foundation here is still strong. 2.5/5 stars from me right now. Still my go-to deli in the area, but I'll be watching to see if the meat comes back in full force. Keep up the great bread and peppers!

The two cheeses plus a fresh tomato and lime were all that this large lunchtime meal needed to satisfy me. He is the lone staff, so be prepared to wait while you sit outside the restaurant in the open space with tables provided. He serves the meal himself. The vibe is a bit noisy at times as people walk through the dining area on their way to other venues in this old converted factory space. I thought it was a great idea to recycle old factory buildings along the Rails to Trails walkway in Southington. If you want an unconventional meal and like wandering around, popping into stores like the chocolate store or brewery, try it out.
