Patronizing my favorite gyro place again! My go-to has been the gyro plate, as it's good for two meals. The food is always super fresh and hot. The amount of food you get for the money is totally worth it! The veggies were also fresh and on top so as to keep them that way. I got additional cheese sauce and tzatziki (you do get one tzatziki with the meal) and both are super good, but the additional cheese sauce is really unnecessary as the food is just so good as is. Giant block of feta is also super nice. I also got an additional pita bread, which I would recommend if you plan on making it two meals because one pita is not enough for as much food as you get. I finished a night of driving uber and was starving. I checked the hours on the Gyro Palace website. Great open until 2:30. I pull up at 2:12 see 3 cars in line 2 past the menu board and 1 at the menu board. The car ahead of me had already ordered. Finally at 2:23 the line moves I pull up to order 1 gyro combo and am told sorry they are now closed. I guess 2:30 doesn't mean 2:30. I got their at 2:12. I guess they saved me $15 but had to I eat a frozen microwave meal when I got home. I wont bother driving over their again, they lost my business forever. read more

They're food is really good I love that they're one of the places that stayed open very late but every time the heavyset call Caucasian lady is working the window or the register she's always very snotty and rude & up charges. sometimes I don't even want to eat when she's working. Was in need of some late night eats. Ok. Maybe 'need' isn't exactly the right word. I mean, it was late and I did need dinner. But, I could have had leftovers at home. But, really, where's the fun in that? So, I checked the handy-dandy Yelp app to see who was in the business of staving off hangriness for the night owls of Milwaukee. Gyro Place to the rescue. I ordered their Greek burger (not my usual order at a gyro place, but felt right at the time) as well as their Greek fries. The greek burger comes with a sprinkling of feta and a bounty of olives. Really. So many olives. The Greek fries are well seasoned, have the customary sprinkling of lemon juice, and come with a side of tzatziki. I have been to places that completely overdo the lemon juice on Greek fries. So much so, that I typically ask for 'light lemon' when ordering Greek fries. I didn't do that here and am happy to report it would be entirely unnecessary to do so. Their fries have a light and lovely lemon zing, without any sogginess what-so-ever. We utilized their drive-thru, so I couldn't comment on their dining space. Their drive-thru is slower than your typical fast food drive-thru. But, then again, this is not your typical fast food. They're open super late. Like--post-Friday-night-drinking-with-friends-and-now-I-need-yes-need-drunk-food--late. Oh? And, bonus? You can order delivery from Gyro Place right through the Yelp app. That's right, night owls. No need to even put your shoes on. They'll bring it right to your door. Fandom! read more

What is better than gyros at 2:30 am on a snowy winter evening? My stomach in the morning may disagree but I thought Gyro Palace was great. Quick and fast service and the amount of food you get for the price is insane. A humongous platter of gryo meat and pitas that definitely helped soak up the booze consumed earlier that night. Gyro Palace is not going to compete well against the rapidly growing, foodie-centric joints that have suddenly exploded in Milwaukee's Walker's Point area; however, one can reliably expect good food and a solid value here at any time of the day. I've been eating lunches here roughly once per month since they've opened a few years ago. Every time, I leave satisfied. As gyros go, their gyro tastes like a gyro. As hamburgers go, their hamburger tastes like a hamburger -- albeit a pretty good one (if you're a Milwaukeean, think of Kopp's hamburgers--these are similarly constructed). But what makes Gyro Palace better than average is how hot, fast, and fresh the food they serve is. Today I paired french fries with my gyro wrap. The fries were crisp, not greasy, and hot as heck. In other words: they were the perfect fry! The tzatziki sauce served with the gyro was cool and smooth. They serve the sauce in a squeeze bottle, so you can squeeze a little on before taking every bite. A hot gyro with cold tzatziki is about as good as a gyro can get in my opinion. Burgers are the same. If you get some veggies on it (i.e. lettuce and tomato) they're served fresh and cool. Burgers, too, are served on a soft sesame-seeded hamburger bun. Very nice. But my favorite thing at the Gyro Palace has nothing to do with Grecian food at all. The best thing is dessert ... the Tres Leches Cake! Oh man, is this stuff ever good. In the pantheon of great sweet treats--pumpkin pie, hot fudge sundaes, chocolate mousse, and apple pie a la mode--there should be an entire wing dedicated to the Gyro Palace's tres leches cake. I don't know where they get this stuff from, but when you lunch at the GP, save some room for the 3-milk cake. It's only $2.49, so you can't afford not to! read more

This was my first visit at this mostly take out shop. I found the staff to be very attentive, professional and very polite and friendly. I thought the prices were a little high; however, I also know how high inflation has forced food to go up in price over the last year. The food was otherwise excellent and very tasty so I felt it was worth the price in the end. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone that enjoys Greek style food. read more

After 9pm, this is the best food available in the area. After a few drinks, after 10pm, the food here is absolutely delicious. Greek-American owned, but entirely staffed by Mexican-Americans, all the fast food is better than chain, but the better choices are Greek. They often make mistakes when you drive through, the inside is clean and a comfortable place to wait for your order. The staff is tri-lingual, they understand English, Spanish, Drunk people, but they cannot understand the drive-through speaker. The servings are generous, and since none of it is healthy, you should try to split. The gyros platter is so generous, split it by ordering an overpriced extra pita, there's still more than the two people can, well, should eat. read more

I ordered a variety of menu items and everything was a 8 or better. The staff is friendly and their security guard is helpful and polite.

Granted we ordered late at night. But service wasn't what we were use to when we order delivery. The driver took longer than expected, over estimated time, and when I went to call the restaurant no answers. Deliver didn't even leave her vehicle and when I went to approach the vehicle there was an awkward moment were I stood there before they even rolled down the window. When they did, music was blasting and I'm still just waiting there for my food. I go to grab my food and ask if that was everything and she looks at me as if confused (while the music is still booming I must say)...a quick "huh" as she turns down her music and then says yeah. Second time in 3 weeks I just needed salad dressing. I actually asked for extra salad dressing and I didn't get any. I ordered a Palace dinner and I asked for double salad and asked if I could get extra salad dressing. They said no. I said that's okay. Didn't get any salad dressing. This is the second time. Got home with no salad dressing. I called and they put the manager to the phone. I said I just wanted salad dressing. She says I'll talk to you when you get here and we got some words because this was the second time this has happened in the last 3 weeks so I didn't get salad dressing. So I have to drive 5 mi back and my food is cold which I told my food was going to be cold and when I got there she wrote me a new a****** and called me a drunk which I'm not and talked about my dog's being in the car which they were. Additionally, that's why I didn't want to go in in the first place because I have my dogs in the car. All I wanted was salad dressing to be in my order. I will never go back there again. I've never been treated so poorly and I'm in the service industry. Great food if you ordered before midnight. If it's after that it's dry and it's not worth it but I shouldn't pay $25.55 and then be chastized for asking for something that should have been in my order. read more

This is an especially solid fast food gyro spot in downtown Milwaukee. The staff is super friendly and fast, better than you would anticipate for a fast-food chain. The gyro is really good. I hesitate to say great, because it's not great. It's just a sound meal. The meat is a little dry, the feta cheese blocks are a little too big, the peppers are a little too mild. But together they make a good sandwich. The onions are crisp, the yogurt sauce is tangy and smooth, the pita is soft and flavorful. The whole meal is a mixed bag of great and okay, leaving me satisfied and wondering what could have been. The best positive for the place is the price. You get a gut busting amount of food, for a light $10 price. I literally only ate one meal that day, and it kept me full all afternoon and into the late night. I tend to separate restaurants into 2 groups: Places I've never been before midnight, and everything else. This qualifies as the former. GP is open very late, all week long. When I lived on 2nd street I ate an ungodly amount of late night falafel and and greek salad and I stand by that decision, despite what my waistline has to say about it. This place also offers some of the best people watching ever. I've had some interesting folks pull up a seat at my table, let me tell you. The food comes fast and you end up with a lot of it. I mean, it's fine, but a few things of note here. 1. SO. MUCH. MEAT. Want a gyro? Too bad! You're getting a pile of gyro meat on a soggy pita and when I say pile I MEAN PILE. Meat party. Here. Have a "gyro." 2. Don't come expecting Apollo-level fare here. The meat is greasy and not quite as flavorful. They're open absurdly late (as I noted), which is a total bonus because I'm not sure anything else that is save for that 24-hour McDonald's on 1st. (I'm not sure if it's one of those 24-hour ones or not, but I think maybe.) Here's the thing, though: I have loved Gyro Palace on at least two separate occasions now. Like Kyle said, it's drunk food. My quick suggestion: the chicken shish kabob--the sandwich only (pita, chicken, tomato, onion and cucumber sauce). The chicken is just amazing. Overall, well, this place is pretty great. I work third shift in an office nearby, and they are open until 2:30 or later most nights. As you'd expect from a gyro palace, the portion sizes are enormous. The first time I came I got a combo, an outrageous amount of food was presented to me. The gyros are good--not the best I've ever had--but good. You won't be disappointed, especially if you're drunk. There are some people who note they can be a little rude at times. I've noticed this too. I think it's more an indifference from having to deal with a rowdy crowd at night all the time. Every time I come I'm nice and to the point, and I've noticed the amount of chicken in my sandwich steadily increasing from wow to completely ludicrous. read more

Walking in, I felt like oil quality was a little suspect just from the smell of the place, but as it turns out, the food is decent, if not particularly healthy and fresh. I have been here many times over the last 4 years and I find their food is fantastic. Prices seem a bit higher for some items, but you definitely get what you pay for. Most recently I had the Gyro Supreme sandwich-to go. The Gyro sandwich comes wrapped in an aluminum wrapper and weighs around 3 pounds. The wrapped sandwich measures around 6" x 3". When you open it up, you will find a Gyro "STUFFED" with meat, onions, Greek cheese, cucumber pieces. It also comes with a side container of a creamy cucumber dressing to top it off. The restaurant has a seating area that has booths and tables. Seating for around 30+ people. TV and video games are also available to occupy your visit if needed. Staff is very friendly and gets the food out quickly. Definitely worth a try. read more

Gyro Palace is excellent for what it is. A late-night food joint. Everything from their mozzarella sticks to their fries to their gyros are quite good, and excellent for a quick bite. They're open later than most anything else in the area, and priced reasonably. Don't expect Michelin Star quality here. I know there are some amazing restaurants nearby on 2nd st, and for that matter a better greek gyro place on oakland ave, but since moving into walker's point area I am certain I've eaten at Gyro Palace sometimes as much as 3 times a week... wow. Why?! After working really late I need takeout, and there's something special very satisfying about rich lamb gravy sauce over a roasted chicken with rice (Athenian roast chicken). There's not many good takeout options once it's 10pm-11pm. Finally it's drive thru is very fast compared to other gyro places. Conclusion: a combination of good hours, convenience, and deliciousness. 3 stars, but seriously for takeout after 11pm might as well be 5 stars. read more

They must have new cooks and staff because they completely messed up my order via drive through after already waiting 15 minutes for my food, so I had to drive back to have them recook what I originally ordered and when I got my food it still was missing some things. So dissatisfied with how the person at the window handled the situation (He didn't care) and not making sure my order was correct the second time around was very disappointing. This place has become my favorite after hours spot for a quick drive thru meal on the way home. Whether ordering the gyro plate or wrap, the portion is huge. Plenty for two to share or for one super hungry person. The burger is decent as well. Quick service and they take credit cards. If you go at bar time, prepare to wait in the drive thru a bit but they keep it moving. A wait can be fun if you happen to gaze through the windows to watch drunk people attempting to eat. read more
