During a visit to the Newport Mall, I decided to treat the family to Haagen Dazs, and boy did it fall short of expectations. But, let's start with the good: This ice cream shop is a bit hard to find - it's on the second floor right above the Cheesecake Factory (you're welcome). It's a very small shop, with a handful of small tables to eat at. They do have a fairly large variety of ice cream flavors, which you can choose from on the sign in the wall. They offer scoops, shakes, and drinks blended with ice cream. The staff is pretty nice and accommodating - they showed love with extra napkins. The Dazzler (basically a big plastic cup of ice cream with different toppings mixed inside) was pretty good and a good size, like a grande coffee, for the price. Now to the not so great part of the experience. My group ordered ice cream scoops and a shake. I went all in for the $10 option with 3 scoops. And what I got looked like one big half melted scoop in a cup. It was a sad sight to see - I posted the picture with this review for reference. Yes, the ice cream tastes good. But, it's the exactly same that you get from the containers at the store. Since 3 scoops at this shop is equivalent to almost half a pint, you can barely share it. S So, scoops are like sample sizes and just a waste of money when you can buy two pints at the market for the same price. This is the first time I've ever been to an ice cream shop that skimped on the serving sizes like this. So, I'll be taking my ice cream money elsewhere, like Torico where they are more generous. read more

Listen, I've been to this Haagen Dazs in person AND have ordered for delivery and each and every single time, it SLAPS! Now, I am very, very particular about my sundaes. Not everyone can make a good sundae. I've even been to Haagen Dazs locations where the dazzler sundae just was not hittin, and when I'm craving Haagen Dazs, I NEED my dazzler to SLAP. And sorry, but I'm just a bit of a snob with my sundaes and food in general, so when I go to a Haagen Dazs and my dazzler is poorly made, it kinda ruins my mood. That's why I am forever thankful for this particular Haagen Dazs because they've yet to miss. Also, Everytime I go in person, for the most part, the staff who take my order and make my sundaes are great, and friendly. It is so appreciated! This time, I ordered online. What I usually get, is a dazzler sundae, made with pralines and cream ice with caramel and nuts. Lately however, Haagen Dazs hasn't had pralines and cream on their menu, so if they see this, I'm hoping they'd consider it lol! Since it wasn't an option, I got a dazzler sundae, made with butter pecan ice cream, caramel and nuts. It was just divine. It truly hit the spot and made my day. I've could've eaten a second one lol. Came to this mall location to redeem a free scoop for signing up for rewards. I had a scoop of Belgian chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone. I loved the ice cream because it was thick and creamy. It is inbetween hard and soft ice cream leaning towards hard. The chocolate is sweet. No significant complaints, and I would return for the same flavor or a new one. read more

I came here yesterday for the first time and I was really debating between cookies and cream and strawberry milkshake, obviously from the picture I went for the cookies and cream bc I always go for strawberry milkshake when I usually go to carvel, wanted to try something different for the first time. First off... I went in today with my boyfriend and we were the only customers at the time. The guy behind the counter was either not paying attention or just didnt want to for atleast 5 minutes. (The whole time there was a half a gallon of milk open and left on the counter.. since we walked in to when we walked out) Whatever we order our ice cream he got a small vanilla and I got a small chocolate. (13 bucks ) we pay and head out about 5 minutes later we sit down at one of the massage chairs and he sees a fly in the ice cream! So disgusting. They are located on the second floor of the mall, above the Cheesecake Factory next to the 2nd floor of Kohls. Good, clean and efficient service. There's a small bar area but no seating in the inside of the shop. The ice creams were creamy and not icy. I got the following: 1) Cookies & Cream - if you like oreos, this is a good one. A little too sweet in my opinion but good 2) Rocky Road - my least favourite of the 4 I tried. Chocolate base with nutty toppings 3) Rum & Raisin - Good. Chewy raisins compliment the creamy base. 4) Caramel Cone - Despite its name, this ice cream is not overwhelmingly caramely. Instead, it is a good balance of salty, sweet and a good crunch from the chocolatey pecan. read more

I have tried their ice cream and it was delicious. They serve huge variety of flavors but I went for belgium chocolate. Their prices are high but they maintain thier quality. Rude and condescending employees and management. I would truly give them negative stars if I could. I absolutely love and frequent Haagen-Dazs, but would never return to this location. We walked in already knowing what we wanted, so we walked straight to the counter only to be ignored by two male employees chatting in the corner. They continued to chat until our glare was noticeable. One employee walked over to take our order, one cookie and cream milkshake, and started making the order. As the milkshake is almost done, the second employee walks over and rings us up for a total of $9.50. Taken back at the steep price, we confirmed the price of the order and he began to say with a condescending tone of voice "Yeah, this is Haagen-Dazs". Again taken back by the tone, I responded that this is definitely not my first Haagen-Dazs experience and the employee started raising his voice to question "yeah? where?". I truly thought I misunderstood what he said because I was so confused at why he was getting so defensive and this is a franchise ice cream store... it's everywhere. We didn't want to continue the conversation with the condescending man so we paid and left. As we walked out, he started yelling at us that if we brought a Haagen Dazs receipt that indicated a lower price for the milkshake he would give us free milkshakes for a year or something like that. All we wanted was to clarify that $9.50 was indeed the price of the milkshake. We never argued or raised our voices with this man. In return, we were belittled and treated as if we just don't know what a "luxurious, high end ice-cream store" prices are. Looking at previous reviews, I now understand a bit better that his immediate defensiveness may be coming from their own insecurities. You order at the front of the store and the prices are strategically placed by the register, which is all the way inside the store. I was shocked to be rung up for $7.95 for a small scoop of ice cream. I know Haagen-Dazs is more of a luxury brand, but usually for that price I'm getting two scoops, or at least offered split flavors, or something. At the time I was there, there were signs all over about the peppermint chocolate flavor which I had been looking forward to. I was told they were out. I then asked for another flavor which was listed, but that was out too. It would be nice if they took down signage or marked items that weren't available! Came to HD in the Newport Mall midday on Friday with my Mom. They are located on the second floor of the mall, above the Cheesecake Factory and close to the exit to the light rail. The staff are hospitable but it was obvious they couldn't wait to leave. Typical of food service counter personnel unfortunately...The place was very clean and provided high and low table/chair options for patrons. We shared a medium cup of half dulce de leche and half pralines & cream. As always HD ice cream never disappoints! The flavors were on point, creamy and rich. Went to this place with my girlfriend and the two ladies who served us were very kind. The environment was also friendly and everyone greeted you with a smile at the door which was a plus. My girlfriend ordered the Rock Road sundae and I had the Cookies and Cream sundae. Let me tell you right off the bat that they both tasted so damn delicious. Finally, a decent ice-cream shop in this mall, and this specific one is new & great. They have seating, TVs and very clean...and I like to try the ice cream flavors before I fully commit to the whole cup and they always let me try it without any issues. This review is for the horrible service not the Ice Cream. I was in the Newport Mall and I was very happy to see a Häagen-Daze. I really love there Ice Cream. The guy behind the counter asked me what do I want. I said a single scoop of strawberry in a cone. Right away I noticed he was going to smoke me. He takes out a waffle cone and start's to scoop the Ice Cream into the waffle cone. I stop him and say I do not want the waffle cone. He tells me you want a sugar cone and I say yes. I can tell he is passed off. He starts to look for a sugar cone and has trouble finding one. I told him to forget about it. This is horrible customer service. I was a Marketing major in college. Shouldn't the first question be when you get an Ice Cream Cone is what type of cone you would like. Do not smoke me for an extra 55 cent's for a cone I do not want.
