Go in with eyes and wallet open! Do not do anything with them without first getting a firm quote, otherwise you will be taken advantage of. First, they charge driving time to and from your site. I used them to change out a sink drain pipe at a busy retail location. I got distracted with tasks and did not keep track of the plumber's progress. I was shocked to see him still kneeling in the bathroom next to the drain 3 hours later. Total charge with parts and drive time: $470.00. He said that the second adjoining bathroom pipe should also be replaced because of the age of the pipes, but he couldn't finish the job without charging overtime fee (after 4:00), so I (stupidly) had him back. I honestly thought I would get a break on pricing. I told him to do as fast and simple a job as he can, and had to go for a meeting. Again, shocked that he was there after 2-1/2 hours. He handed me a bill for $405.00. After I freaked, he lowered it to $350.00, knocking off drive time. This was only after showing him a third receipt from a different plumber from MOE's that replaced a toilet within the same month for $534.00 If the owners are not aware that their plumbers are taking 2-1/2 to 3 hours to replace a simple, exposed drain, they are asleep at the wheel, and their reputation is being hurt. From other reviews, pricing seems to be a big issue here. All I can say is, do your due diligence. Personally, I will never use them again. read more

The issue was a blockage in our sewer line. We use Moe for all of our plumbing, and they sent their awesome sewer specialist, Eric, to check it out. He said roots had grown into the pipe, and brought in a hydro jet to open it. The root system was a monster. Ultimately, it took a full day and a 7,000 PSI machine, to open a hole in the root ball and get water flowing. In order to repair it permanently, the connection that failed would have to be dug-up and replaced. Later, the original lining contractor did that work under warranty. When they removed the section that was blocked, we saw that the root ball was almost 1' think! Eric did a great job breaking through it, and getting the pipe to drain! read more

To the reviewer who said the positive reviews only say Moe solved "issues" and are fake b/c there's no details... I don't think you *want* the details of a clogged sewage line. Believe you me...! But I'll tell you more if you want. But anyhoo... I called Moe out again b/c we were having a problem with our central a/c. Two blocks in the neighborhood had a power surge, and it blew out stuff in every house -- microwaves, a/c, computers, lights, light switches, fridges, thermostats, beds with vibrating motors oops i mean... But anyhoo... I had no doubt the transformer in our a/c fried because that's exactly what happened to three immediate neighbors. I have a list of plumber and a/c people. I called on Moe because I was happy with the prior service. Burt was the technician and he was friendly, SMART, efficient. They do carry some transformers on the truck but mine ugh, had to be ordered. It is what it is so... we ordered it, Moe (Burt) comes back a few days later and today they get everything back up and running. Total service call was about $275. The actual transformer is not that expensive ($30) but labor and time and 2 trips is. And it takes a lot to diagnose and pinpoint a problem. I know from my neighbors who had the same exact problem, their bills were the same. The work here is total "normal" price (which is to say... high... but technicians are expensive). But I deeply trust the quality of the work and definitely feel these guys know what they're doing. And next time I have a plumbing or a/c problem... I will make them my first call again. read more

I live in Seattle WA and my dad lives in west los Angeles calf. I called Moe plumbing to repair or replace my Dads attic fan that he thought was going out. The person on the phone was very helpful and said they could get someone out . The Tec came out and did some adjustments and said it looks fine !! My 91 year old Dad was happy and the price was right. What is nice the guy could of sold my dad a new unit but said it is working great Moe plumbing also last year and snaked a drain and did a great job. By the way there is so many rip offs out there its bad. I own a couple small rentals. I had a tenant call me when I was out of town complaining of a broken water line in the house. I tried to help explain how to turn off the main line into the house. After 10 minutes of trying to explain how to turn off the system I told Tanya the renter to hold tight and I will have a plumber ASAP coming to help. I called Moe's plumbing and they were so helpful. I scheduled an appt for a new A/C installation in a shed in our backyard which is also new. We haven't turned it on yet because the construction guy told us to have an a/c person to check it and vacuum, etc., I called Moe plumbing last week and they scheduled an appointment a week later-today, and today a couple of hours prior to appt. They call and say that the technician won't come out because it's not their installation!! A week after scheduling, a week of high 100+ temp, you're telling me this is not a viable service because someone else installed the A/C that has never been turned-on yet!!?? Don't you think you should have told me that a week ago before scheduling and now that you had me wait a week for you, can I at least talk to the technician and not just the receptionist that just says sorry!! George (Jorge) did an amazing job sealing leaks in the gas line for our duplex located in Beverly Hills. Working in a very tight space under the house on a very hot day, he first sealed minor leaks for one unit, and we immediately passed the Gas Co inspection. The next day he came back with many parts needed to update and seal major leaks for the other unit. After hours of work under the house and on the outdoor furnace, he made the repairs, and we passed the Gas Co inspection. In total, the work required persistance, attention to detail and skill. Hey HL Moe! What does it take to get you to answer the phone? Ninety years in business and this is how you run a business? I spent almost $10,000 with you for repairs at my house this past summer. It was bad enough I could not get a formal proposal from you, although I did proceed with the work. But now I can't get a proper invoice so I can submit it to the gas company for a rebate for a $7,000 water heater installation. (I had to call you to remind you I owed you money, which I promptly paid.) It says your hours are until 5 pm, but nobody is answering the phone at 3 pm. I was promised a proper invoice but nothing has been sent. I was told you don't itemize your billing. Give me a break. I need a lump sum bill, the water heater name, the model number and serial number on the bill, and you can't furnish it so I can get a rebate from the utility company? Rest assured, this will be my last job with you. I am a licensed general contractor and have many resources, and you certainly won't be on my list anymore. Moe Plumbing has been taking care of my house for more than 20 years. A few years ago, we moved out of California and now rent our home. Moe Plumbing has been a life saver. Whenever I have issues, the office is always very accommodating when, invariably, my tenant requires at least three reschedules. And the plumber (Alan) who usually does the service calls is excellent. He calls me from the house and talks me through what needs to be done. His work is impeccable and he is efficient at getting things done quickly and I trust him completely -- I never feel like I'm getting upsold or bamboozled, which I have with other service providers. read more

After calling on Moes to unplug a drain, and breaking a pipe in the process, they had the great business sense to charge $1,200 to fix their mistake. Granted the pipe was old, but when asked to reconsider their charge, Heather was not sympathetic. Now therre is a hole in the ceiling that now needs to be repaired. Avoid this outfit at all costs. After calling someone out for a faulty furnace, he quoted me $260 (+labor, which they don't divulge in advance - see below) for a new circuit board - however he refused to warranty that it would solve the problem (he refused to give me a firm estimate for a repair). He also assured me that all furnaces come with only a 5 year warranty (a blatant lie), and recommended that I replace mine (just over 5 years old) with, surprise!, one from them. Following this exchange I was shocked to see a bill for a $110 service call from him (this includes the 'mandatory' $12 fuel fee, despite them being located 3 miles away). This is almost double what a typical (competent) HVAC call would cost. After he left I called Moe's to complain. They assured me the service manager would call me back and that the check would not be cashed until he spoke to me. The check was subsequently cashed. I called them again and was once again assured the service manager would contact me to resolve it. As you may have guessed, that phone call has not arrived. Highest prices, worst service, shady ethics - you've been warned. read more

Greedy plumber. I needed one faucet replaced (which I supplied) and one leaky faucet repaired. No estimate (that won't happen again) and the work took 2 1/2 hours and was about $500! What? To be fair, I was told that the old faucet was tricky to take out and there was some cutting but $500 for that? And I supplied the faucet! Materials alone was $178 and some parts in the leaky faucet was repaired and not replaced. The plumber was at his truck about 25 minutes out of the 2/1/2 hours plus the company had the nerve to charge me for their time to drive from Beverly Hills. I would avoid this company at all costs! DO NOT USE MOE PLUMBING!! NOT PROFESSIONAL AND NOT RELIABLE!! OVER CHANGE THE SERVICE!! I would give negative star if it was an option. So DISAPPOINTED with Moe Plumbing service. The previous owner of the house we purchased and our neighbor recommended so we decided to use them for water heater tank replacement. The plumber told me we should have hot water in 2 hours and then he left. They changed us $3,200. After 2, 3 and 10 hours we still did not have hot water. I called their emergency and someone else came. He said he did a temporary fix and then left. No hot water again. So we were so frustrated and called the manager. The manager sent out boiler specialist. He was fixing something and then left and came back twice claiming that he had to buy parts. He was gone for at least more than 2 hours. Finally when he was done he gave us another invoice for $1,000. It was ridiculous!!!! So my husband called the manager again and complained and they gave us a little bit of discount. Then we had to replace the hose under the kitchen sink. The plumber came out and said he needs to order the part which will take about 3 to 5 days. But he never followed up and I had to call him like 3 times to make sure the hose was ordered. Definitely not professional and not reliable. I will never use them again!!!! read more

The WORST customer service I have ever encountered! They sent out a plumber to come to my place because I needed to replace some parts for my toilets,sink, shower. Their plumber said he would call me back with a quote and date for the install. After trying to contact their main office for several weeks I gave up. 2 1/2 months later the plumber calls trying to invoice me over $200 for work he never did. The service was professional from beginning to end. From the referral from SoCalPlumbing911, through making the appointment, to the arrival (which was checked with me to see if it was okay to be earlier than scheduled -- it was!) to the service provided by Willy, and the price at the end. I've had bad experiences with businesses in the past, but none that have ever affected me so much as to go on Yelp and write a scathing review. Thanks, Moe Plumbing, for being the first. I feel like a newbie at open mic night. But I'm so mad this just has to get out, all my friends are tired of hearing about my plumber nemeses. *Ehem* In November, just in time for some cold nights, we were told I needed a new wall heater in my apartment (managed by our somewhat elderly female landlord; this will become relevant later). Simple, right? Well, fast forward to February and the darn thing is only *just* now working after countless days of me not being able to enter my apartment due to THREE, I repeat, THREE failed city inspections of Moe's attempts to install a heater. Wall plastering was torn out and left on my floors, paint/wall dust it turns out I'm allergic to coated my electronics and furniture in a way that was clear they'd made no attempt to cover/clean up their work, and they even left a gaping hole in the bottom of my wall so that I could see/hear the poor guy in the unit beneath me for over a week. It's not hard to tape some cardboard over that temporarily, come on. It was truly some of the most thoughtless, shoddy work and appointment management I've seen in my life (I've had contractors in my family, so I'm no idiot with this stuff). My landlord, who has no reason to be dishonest with me, claimed that the offices ignored her calls after a certain point, and did not bother to return them until weeks later. This should have been a simple repair/replacement, and turned into a MONTHS long ordeal that affected my health and work. Sounds like I'm exaggerating, but when you work from home, and are told the day before that good ole' Moe Plumbing is going to be drilling and hacking away in your apartment from 9 AM until god knows when... Additionally, the mess they left from the plaster for me to clean up left me with a mysterious cough. These are old apartments. I don't even want to think about what's in these walls, but apparently Moe didn't think about that either. Just in a different way. TL;DR: Heater broken at the beginning of winter? Moe Plumbing *might* fix it...just in time for spring! Also, my lamp they moved is broken. I just noticed. Cool. read more

I don't even know where to start with this company. I just know we've never had such shady, terribly expensive contractors hose us this badly on anything. Ever. I normally never bash companies like this, as it is people's livelihood, however, Moe Plumbing had it coming. Gotta problem with their work? They don't care, they'll dodge your calls (very mature btw). We've spent over $25,000 worth of plumbing and sewer line repairs and we're still trying to fix what Moe charged $23,000 to supposedly fix. Their minor work has been fine. I'll give them that.
