Super clean store and friendly staff. They also carry some Asian snacks that other markets don't have, or at least I haven't seen before. Around 6PM, they have some to go foods that are 50% off. This place gets 5 stars for cleanliness and organization. They have all the essentials of an Asian market which is good. I love how they have marinated meats which makes for a delicious meal and a large Asian beer selection and fresh veggies. Prices are just ok, nothing jaw-dropping. I was willing to pay the higher prices if it wasn't for the following offenses: Minus 4 stars for the incredibly intrusive behavior and bad attitude. Don't serve samples if you don't really want people to taste. I've bought many items I otherwise would have walked right past if it weren't for the samples they offered. Special fresh mushrooms, mochi ice creams (that I don't usually like), beer, marinated meats (that I didn't even know about until the sample). However, their attitude and how they serve it up is far different from Costco (whose not even that great). I understand how sometimes, certain customers try and make a meal out of samples, but this is far from that. 1) they're guarding it like a dog guards their bowl of kibbles 2) the ladies that are doing the sample presentations aren't making any samples, so what's the point? 3) when they do have 2 pieces out they have to mumble and get pissy when you actually DARE to try one! 4) they'll basically bit your head off Next, everyone and I mean every single employee is curt, and abrupt, not a single greeting, or a single smile and we passed at least 20 employees. Another pet peeve, whose idea is it to stock the shelves on a weekend???!!!! The busiest time for a grocery store. The store is at most half the size of a Target store, why would you have boxes and carts being pushed around in an already small store to stock shelves on a weekend is just beyond me. Forcing customers to retreat to make way for the stockers around every corner. Finally the worse offense, don't pounce on your customers and say things like 'DON'T LEAVE IT THERE!' If you don't like how I put it back on the shelf, fix it yourself after the customer walks away, but don't yell and boss them around when they're here to shop. Never make a customer feel uncomfortable. Overzealous employees will be right up your ass to grab the shopping cart even while your loading your car. Ever heard of personal space?! Maybe it's just the cultural differences, but I find it very difficult to believe that other customers would take this abuse. This market is a NAY!!! read more

I've gotta say that I'm obsessed with this market place around my neighborhood. It is convenient for me and has everything I need. It's pretty new so there are alot of promotional sales going on, which means extra good prices. The whole place is also very clean and neat. Everything is neatly laid out and easy to find. I find myself here almost once a week and spend so much $$$ here. My favorite to get here are their live lobsters and their sushi/sashimi selection (their salmon is always very fresh) I just buy some seaweed here, grab a box of salmon, and then go over to the food court for $1 box of take out rice and that's lunch adequate for two! They also have really nice demo stalls here - korean BBQ meats, pancakes, noodles, and even fresh cut sashimi sometimes. You can truly get everything you need here because they have Korean, Chinese, and English groceries all in one. Not to mention the Paris Baguette for pastries and Food Court for a quick lunch! I'm trying to help YOU do your job, and you are telling me to hurry up and bag my own groceries when I'm just trying to put my change away?? I am a fan of this store. As said, not all H Marts are created equally. As proof, go to the H Mart around the corner on Northern Blvd to find a more generic, unremarkable supermarket . This store shines! It is clean and well organized. Produce is plentiful, fresh, and reasonably priced. Ample beer selection, most of which can be found cold. They always have Duvel and it is always priced well below other stores, including the beverage distributors. Fish section is fairly well stocked and kept clean and odor free, The meat department upholds Korean high standards of quality. Tasting/sample stations abound at the busiest times. The America/western food section is OK but could/should be developed further. Example: I had a rare craving for hot dogs. Hot dogs, check, mustard, check. Hot dog buns? Nowhere to be found. This necessitated the inconvenience of going to another store. I am not a fan of Paris Baguette so I pay it no mind as usual. We've never eaten at the mini food court so I cannot comment on this. I place a premium on customer service. Employees who are pleasant and helpful can make up for shortcomings in other areas of a business, I give this store a pass in this area, with the exception of some of the stock people. This is an area that is problematic here and elsewhere. Stock people are not held to the same expectations of customer care as in other areas, though there are frequent encounters with customers, sometimes not pleasant.. In this store I have had issues with stock people who would run their cart over your toes before saying a simple "excuse me." Some act like the customer is a huge inconvenience and hindrance to them doing their jobs and are outright rude and disrespectful. One day I was trying to enter the store and they were loading the bin with watermelons. The guy stood in my path and refused to acknowledge me and my attempts to enter the store until the point where he yelled at me that I was entering the wrong way. There is no such designation as to the entrance and exit doors. Even if it was clear, he should have been nicer and more respectful of me, the customer. Minus one star. read more

This review is for the food court area of the supermarket, not the actual supermarket itself. the food here is pretty good across the board. i've tried the seasoned black pork, the chicken bento box and the pork bento box, as well as several of the soup dishes. portions are pretty generous and most dishes come with a small bowl of bean sprout soup. never had any complaints about any of the food. everything is very well priced, too. read more

Aside from the old Asian people who have no manners and run you over with their shopping carts, I love this hmart. (Seriously, how many times must I yell EXCUSE ME while you pretend you don't hear me as you block the entire aisle, and then be standing right in front of your cart while you plow it into me like you are blind with no apology?! And then you look puzzled as you continue to try to push your cart right through me... What is wrong with these people!) They have your standard Asian foods in addition to a lot of fresh produce. The Fuji apples are roided up and are the size of your head but delicious. I was surprised to see so many specialty health foods (almond flour, cashew and almond butter, unsweetened coconut flakes, etc) which I LOVE since these are hard to find around this neighborhood. This location seems to have a great selection of foods that caters to all: Asians, Americans, health food freaks, etc. I asked the workers walking around in English, where I could find certain products and they were happy to help and there weren't any communication issues. This is one of the newest HMarts in the area. It's neat and clean. Prices are fair. What I love about this HMart is that they have a food court in the front. It's nice to have a quick meal. They portion sizes bigger than what I'd expect from a Korean restaurant too. The vegetables/produce are nice and fresh and the have higher quality meats than other local grocery stores. I also really love the prepared cold foods in the front. It's a delicious easy quick bite to eat or snack when I'm home. There is also a bakery/cafe so you can get your coffee and cake fix on. A parking lot is available. It's a decent size but it can get filled quickly when is busy. Fresh seafood is located in the back of the store. I was pleasantly surprised coming to this H-Mart. Having grown up in Flushing, I was used to low prices in the Chinese supermarkets. Later on, I went to BJ's and Target's in the Skyview Mall in Flushing, which had low prices too. H-Mart here has competitive pricing with those stores. It is also very conveniently located on Francis Lewis Blvd. If you go around rush hours or weekends however, be prepared to wait for a parking spot since the parking lot is relatively medium-sized. Been shopping in this supermarket since it opened. While their food is definitely fresh and large selection. There is something else to be said about their houseware. I bought a tea pot 2 years ago and it was rusted after several use and bought it back to change even though the manager gave me a hard time exchanging it. I literally showed him the receipt and the rusted spot and they still had to bring it to the back for another manager to check...but the 2nd one also rusted and I gave up and threw it away. Thought it was maybe an anomaly. However, I bought a a medium pot last month to cook noodles since my last one just broke, it's stainless steel but somehow there is a strange "burnt" plastic smell when used ...I thought maybe it's new but after several use, the smell still didn't go away. A very nice supermarket! Clean and neat! I shopped here on a regular basis. Most of the staffs are friendly; however, some of the cashiers are rude to non-korean speaking customers. The cashier scanned everything so fast and she wouldn't listen English speaking customers (the cashiers were talking to each other). When I told her I have coupon to use, she already closed the transaction. Another cashier was about to bring me to the supervisor for the price adj. This lady pointed her finger at me and said 'your mistake'. The shopping experience here would have been perfect if the cashier can pay more attention to customers. read more

This Hmart has a bakery, a supermarket(offers samples) and a take out or sit in cafe. The cafe has a variety of Korean dishes. From the spicy Tofu stew, to Kalbi to kimchi fries rice. The convenience of having a bakery and a small food court within a supermarket is attractive. My gripe is to the parking lot attendee who collects the carts. My one-year old dropped her shoe and my hands were full of bags and he had the nerve to just stand there and ignore me while I struggled down to pick it up. Attending to mothers with babies is always first priority in any business establishment and public institution and it should be addressed to all employees.
