First the good: The gentleman who guides the line is possibly the nicest person on the planet. He is always so calm and friendly. The line gets very long and he always manages it well. I went on my daily trip to Hmart last week and there was a very upset customer who continued to yell for over 20 mins. This resulted in some of the cashiers and the wonderful line director having to assist her. Thankfully one of the ladies that assist with bagging had to direct the growing line (great job.) I noticed that some of the people that stock the items are not very helpful. It seems they make it obvious that they are watching you (security is never too far behind) but they are not eager to help. Today I asked a lady where the rolling pins were. She acted as if she was trying to help, but was speaking to someone via her earbuds She kept watching me but did not make much of an effort. I found the rolling pins not far from where she was standing. This is not the first time Ive experienced an unhelpful associate. Another time I asked for assistance and the associate started walking away. This is unacceptable. read more

This is the best h mart in the area in my opinion. The vegetables are fresh and there are usually a lot of good deals going on. Only issue I have is parking. Sometimes the parking lot will get full especially on weekends and you will have to find parking elsewhere or wait for parking. read more

Yes, great place to shop, just make sure you try to avoid weekends after 11 a.m. or come super late, like 9 p.m. Shelves are well-stacked and there is a very clean feeling to this place. It's no wonder why it's almost always packed, even on weeknights! There are also free tastings of interesting items during weekends. The parking lot is small. It also gets very dark, disorderly, and crowded, with both vehicles and pedestrians. I call it "Ordered Chaos." I opt for the Chinese supermarkets for Chinese vegetables but for Korean products, I come here. It's also super convenient in the sense that I don't have to go all the way to downtown Flushing for basic items. Prices are higher than most, though. Be sure to shop around. This supermarket sometimes does not stock items that other markets have. I couldn't find baking soda last night, it was weird. read more

I liked this supermarket for the selection and generally reasonable prices for vegetables. However, the staff is consistently rude. I once tried to ask an employee for help; I was less than a foot away from him, and had to say "excuse me" 5 times before he turned towards me. He started directly behind me, tried to pretend I wasn't there, and finally barked, "what do you want?" There is never a simple hello from the cashiers or any attempt to make the customer feel valued. I will not be shopping here, or at any H-Mart, anymore. read more

This Korean grocery store has a wide variety of products from fruits and vegetables, to seafood and meat, condiments, various ramen choices as well as kitchen utensils. I love the fact that I can almost find everything I need in here. Their veggies are very fresh but most of their stuff is on the expensive side too. The store is always clean, well organized and has no funky smell. It's also worth noting that there's a food court and a bakery store on the corner of this place. The food from the food court is not bad and the bakery is 20% off after 8 pm. read more

I love shopping at the H Mart at 46-40 Francis Lewis Boulevard. I was somewhat upset at the beginning when it replaced Waldbaums supermarket last year. Waldbaums was my staple for most things food-related. When H Mart opened, there was an incredible number of shoppers cramming the aisles. This H Mart also has a Paris Baguette take-out as well as a Korean restaurant on the side, very convenient indeed. Being used to the somewhat rough service treatment in several of the Asian supermarkets in Flushing, I was expecting a similar experience at H Mart. To my surprise, the staff was courteous and very helpful. The items were neatly merchandised and prices were easy to read. The seafood, though slightly expensive, was very fresh. The vegetables were neatly and cleanly packed. The assorted of prepared food was staggering. H Mart has now become my go-to place for last-minute meals and sushi ensembles. The sushi/sashimi specialist who serves sample sashimi knows my entire family. I knew him when he was working at another H Mart in Queens. We chatted a lot whenever I shop there and he always has great advise on buying sashimi. Unfortunately for me, he was transferred to another H Mart location. In any case, although I miss Walbaums, I am mighty glad that H Mart took its place. My family loves exploring the different product offerings. My kids love to go there for food tastings on Saturdays. You can never go wrong by coming here! All their fruits, vegetables, and meats are always top notch. I especially love their pre-marinated meats and cooked foods section. Bonus part is that there is a Paris Baguette and a small korean food court on the side if you ever need dessert or a quick bite to eat. They have their own private parking lot but it usually filled, at any given time, try the bank side or regular street parking behind the building. read more

This is the nicest HMart I've been to. Specifically for the food court on the side, it is the bomb diggity. Portions for price is the most reasonable I've seen for Korean food. Regular kimchi soondubu is like $8.99 which is unheard of. That's like $3 cheaper than BCD, and you're not paying for tip. I really like their yukkaejang, which is like a shredded beef spicy soup. That is only about $9, and the bowl is huge. You could eat it for two meals if you portion it right. Eating here is like the people who have discovered it are keeping the secret to themselves. It's like everyone eating here had this mutual, unspoken look of solidarity at each other to not share this goodness with the outside yelp world. I was looking a for quick bite to eat and a H Mart just opened up that said 'Food court, Paris baguette and Hmart on the front so I went in. When they say food court, they mean just one place serving food besides Paris baguette. They do have an array of BBQ meats (pork belly), noodle and rice dishes. I had the kimchi bokumbop, which is kimchi fried rice. I ordered it with shrimp but I didn't get it even though the cashier specifically asked me but I didn't get charged for it either. Next the person cooking my rice wasn't even Korean!!! I thought at least for the grand opening they'd at least hire a Korean lady. - Kimchi friend rice (mediocre) - Side dishes (kimchi, gochew, cold potatoes y lukewarm soup) My experience is that if you want to sell Korean snacks in this neighborhood, Hmart step your game up because the experienced eaters will find over places that do it better. read more

Larger and cleaner than anything you'll find in the city. Not sure if it's because of the recent opening, but they have a lot of free samples lying around, whether it be popsicles or dumplings, or mochi. The produce area looks fantastic and I wish I lived closer. The "food court" consists of only one food vendor. The space is quite narrow so you end up bumping into people. Aside from the traffic hazard, it's a great place to grab a quick bite for a decent price. Portions are quite large and comes with free sides of kimchi and bean sprout soup. Lots of seating, indoor and out. The Paris Baguette is one of the smaller ones I've seen, and I didn't see shaved ice on the menu. But other than that, it seems pretty uniform with all the other ones. read more

My parents are OBSESSED with this new H Mart .. mainly bc of the free samples, but I digress. I came by the day after I ran the Super Spartan race for some grub with my mom. We got there at 11 on the dot but the cashier was having issues at the food court, so we took our time to peruse the rest of the supermarket and grab an iced coffee from Paris Baguette (my fave btw). The supermarket is spacious and clean - a bit pricier than their Chinese cousins. The vegetables section looks fresh to death, down to the water they spray on 'em! I actually grabbed some prepared foods for later that week, including kimbap (which was actually really good - loved the fishcake one! Perhaps Jenny L. got a bad batch) and the seafood soondubu ($4.99 for a huge tub, lasted me for 2 lunches). Finally, the food section was up and running. We had some issues communicating our order (the lady spoke limited English) but the food didn't take too long to prepare. We actually got an additional order for free bc they got one of our orders incorrect - whoops! We got the nungmyeun (cold noodles - SOOOO refreshing), and the mandoo soup (meh, salty - pass). Not sure if I'd come back here specifically for food since the Queens Ktown is just a few mins drive down Northern, but def for the packaged food =) read more

I've been to a few H Mart in Queens, but I think this is my favorite one. My boyfriend's sister told me that they have an amazing beef lunch box here and fresh salmon and lots of fresh food that she picks up for home. She and her husband comes here a lot because they have your basic items that you may need to make sushi at home. One evening, my boyfriend and I came here for his sister to pick up fresh caviar (fish roe) and two coconut desserts that so far only this H Mart carries. We also saw the salmon that they have and it looks fresh and delicious. We went on a Friday night around 6PM so miraculously it wasn't crowded at all nor busy. I love that the aisles aren't cramped, everything is organized and spacious, and big. I also love they have pre-packaged cooked food/meals you can take home for lunch or dinner. They also have a Paris Baguette inside if you need a coffee, cake, or anything. The parking lot is huge, so you will definitely find a spot. Hope to come back here soon. read more

THIS IS THE BEST H-MART EVER! I have been to many H-Marts, but this one is new and has an amazing mini food court! The food is reallyyyy good and cheap. Oh my goodness. Chaotic zoo. Absolutely a mess. The place itself is so small and gets easily crowded so prepare yourselves to bump into carts in the narrow aisles and feel cramped everywhere because you literally have NO space. They also need to fire the old Korean ladies at the cashier register and actually find cashiers who can speak at least some basic English. A simple "hello" and "thank you" would be enough to train them on the proper customer service. Those old Korean ladies at the cash registers cannot speak English and just stare at you while you check out. Since this is their career they should at least try to learn the language if they want to keep getting paid. My boyfriend once had to lug 2 packs of water and tried to set it down on the counter and this old Korean grandma looking cashier pointed her finger at the guy who bagged the items to basically say "give it to him not me." Mind you my boyfriend had to carry the heavy double water pack and almost dropped them because she couldn't just scan it as "paid" herself. She's the cashier and therefore she should be the one making sure to scan and put the paid sticker on heavy purchases like a water pack. It's not that hard lol Advice to management: Useless Korean old ladies need to get replaced by younger workers who can speak English. read more

I've always been a fan of Korean restaurants mainly because of their attention to creating a pleasant dining experience. When shopping for Korean groceries, the same can be said for H-mart. H-mart is the opposite of the no-frills Asian supermarkets. Their supermarkets are usually brightly lit, clean and organized with neatly stocked shelves. Weekends are probably the best time to shop because of the free food samplings (items that are on sale that week). I should mention that their sample servers are polite and do have good personal hygiene (like not clipping their nails in public). Some of my favorite items to purchase are their fish products (raw tuna and salmon which are very fresh), seaweed and frozen kimchi dumplings. Some of their products are a bit more expensive than other supermarkets so it's better to know what you buying (i.e. non-Korean or western food). For providing a good food shopping and tasting experience, I'd give H-mart four Yelp stars... read more

I love H-Mart! The more the merrier and the bigger the better! High quality of produce and meats. Fresh and clean and plenty of prepared foods in case of no time for cooking. On the other hand, their prices are sometimes a sticker shock! The other day, i see a "SALE" sign for Oxtail..Oh boy, I love oxtail. On closer look, price is 11.99/lb on sale from 12.99/lb. Is 11.99/lb a sale price?!? Holy cow. This compared to Costco's oxtail price of 5.99/lb ( vacuum packed though..) . I still went with HMart's because they trim all the fat off where as Costco's does not. In conclusion, you may pay a bit more but you get top quality. read more

I only have the chance to visit when I am in town and have the time. Maybe it is because of the holidays but I was very pleasantly surprised with my last visit! I was actually greeted with a hello as I approached the prepared foods section and was offered some samples (with a simile)! At first I had to look behind me to see if they were talking to somewhen else :-) The cashiers are still not very friendly (which is why I can't give 4 stars) but you can't have everything. I love this supermarket. The price might be slightly higher than Chinese supermarkets but the shopping environment makes up for it. The market looks clean and comfortable. This location has a Paris Bougette and hot food served in it. Throughout the supermarket there are stands where people are preparing samples of food for you to try. The seafood area does not smell that bad in comparison to Chinese supermarkets. The meat section contains all prepackaged meats divided into chicken, beef, pork and lamb. The missing one star is due to lack of staff on the floor to ask for help. My coworker and i were trying to buy chicken wings but we were unable to locate it in the meat section. We couldn't find a staff to help us. Eventually we gave up. read more

A very good selection of Asian food. Store is clean and bright. A fair selection of Western food as well. Prices are competitive to other markets and the selections are fresh. Staff is pleasant, but could use, in some cases, some English lessons. Still, they are very helpful when assistance is needed. Prices aren't cheap, but the quality, cleanliness, and overall pleasant atmosphere make for a very satisfying shopping experience. My favorite section is the pre-cooked Korean specialties, row after row of mouth-watering delicacies including kimchee in every variety, sushi, scallion and seafood pancakes, many varieties of fish and shrimp, octopus, squid, spicy chicken, beef and pork, fried or steamed vegetables, dumplings, all fresh, conveniently packaged and ready to eat. First time been there for lunch, very disappointed about the pork stew. I ordered no. 23, it was a red soup on their menu, so I assumed the soup is spicy. It turned out the soup is not red. I know picture and the real soup won't 100% same, but it was totally different color, like miso soup color. I thought maybe they give me the wrong soup, so I asked them, they said that was 23. I said the picture is red soup, a manager look person ( Korean lady with short hair and glasses) told me, "PICTURE IS PUCTURE!" I was like excuse me? I am a total fan of this place! I no longer have to drive out to New Hyde Park to go food shopping for the good stuff! Seems like they have more variety in the prepared foods department and having a Paris Baguette stand as well as a small fast food joint on the side of the place, along with tables on the outside is a plus! You can go shopping, or eat first or whichever floats your boat. Either way, you will leave happy. EXCEPT, E X C E P T for parking. I had to pull out of the lot and park around the corner and walk one block over but, no biggie. Parking does sucks and I wish the lot was bigger like the one in NHP, but hey, can't have everything. Just be thankful they have this in the area and no longer have to go deep into Northern Blvd or NHP to go to a korean supermarket. I've been to all the H Marts in the NYC area so when this one opened up, I was a bit surprised since this is not all that far from the ones on Northern Blvd and Little Neck. It still being new means that it's still quite busy. This place also has a place a small food court and a Paris Baguette if you're hungry and want something to eat quickly. The selection is decent, but they seem to have more non-Korean aisles than the other H Marts. The selection of ramyun also seems less than, for example, the H Mart on 156th & Northern. I think the H Marts that are in areas that are not in heavy Korean populated areas have more non-Korean products to accommodate the neighborhood as a general supermarket. However, the aisles that had the non-Korean products were pretty empty of customer when I was there. There was no food samplings when I was there, but that could be just because I missed it. (For those who don't know, H Marts will have someone offering food samples much like how they do in Costco.) I think there is certainly a lot of space and the selection mix of Korean and non-Korean grocery items is again decent. If you don't find what you are looking for here, then you'll probably find it at the Northern Blvd locations. However, it's a nice addition to the H Mart family. The parking lot is pretty crude - there aren't many spaces. read more

I got some kimbap and spicy rice cake here. Absolutely disappointingly. I usually love eating the ready to eat section of h Marts but this one was just not satisfying. The taste just isn't as good. not worth the 10 bucks I spent there. The employees were nice though. They helped me microwave my spicy rice cake and was super polite. This is my FAVE Hmart in Queens. It's better than the Little Neck one. This one has super fresh fruit by the case or even individually. They run awesome deals when you buy bulk. HMART has awesome sales every week on different items. They really know how to move inventory. They actually put the American and some Chinese markets to shame. They are efficient, sell premium quality fruits veggies, seafood and meats. They have food sampling every weekend. Parking is not the greatest but I'll suck it up for the goods!!! read more

This H Mart is quite large and spacious. The place also looks clean and well kept. The fruits and shelves are all tidy and well stocked. The problem is the prices which are quite high. Don't be fooled by the initial few cheap fruits that you see in the front of the store, as soon as you start looking at a lot of the items you usually get you'll notice the high prices. The Paris baguette isn't bad though kind of small, and the hot food vendor there's only really one. the menu wasn't that appealing to me. It was also pretty expensive. There was a $14 a beef stew! I basically walked around the entire store, and then left to go to the usual Chinese grocery store I go to. read more

Super clean store and friendly staff. They also carry some Asian snacks that other markets don't have, or at least I haven't seen before. Around 6PM, they have some to go foods that are 50% off.
