I don't really grocery shop at H Mart. The main reason I come here is when I feel like having Korean bbq at home, picking up some banchan sides that are prepackaged or just to explore the snacks and alcohol aisle. I like their selection of meats and marinades for Korean bbq. They are well marinated with some nice fat to meat ratio to maintain tenderness after grilling. I usually get 2lbs of short rib (galbi) and possibly 1lb of pork belly. What's bbq without banchan?! Favorites: seaweed salad, bean sprouts, kimchi, spinach, potato salad and radish kimchi. Since my return from Korea (I spent a very short week in Seoul), I've been trying to look for snacks that are similar to my finds at 7-Eleven in Korea, but haven't found anything like it...yet. The sadness! As for alcohol, not to sound like an alcoholic, but I do like to see what beers they have. I've seen some interesting selections like Taiwanese beer, Hite D (dry finish) and Asahi Black. I usually cruise by to see if anything new or interesting pops up, but haven't gotten anything new in lately. Will have to see on my next visit! read more

I love this Koreans market. Too bad New Orleans doesn't have one. I have to drive to Houston to get to one. This H Mart has so many grab to go foods and there is also a bakery inside. Fresh produce and live lobsters, fishs, snails and anything seafood. This is the place to be to make any Asians meals. read more

This is a review of their food court food. It is located within the market on the far right hand side from the entrance. Parking for the market can be quite packed as it is in the diamond jamboree plaza and parking can get insane. If there is too much difficulty in finding a parking spot, there is a parking structure though walking back to the car with a bunch of groceries might be a hassle. I got the stone pot bibimbap and it was pretty good. I liked that the rice on the bottom was slightly crunchy and burnt, which gave a nice texture to the dish and complimented the toppings and what not. It does come with 3 banchan and I thought those were great tasting too. If you want water there is a water dispenser near the entrance to the food court. read more

They don't even allow you to use your own reusable bag, forcing you to pay 10 cents for each for their plastic bags. They said I couldn't even bag my own groceries with my reusable bag. GREAT variety for produce and the majority is fresh. They have tons of asian condiments and almost half a aisle on various sea salts alone. Oodles of spices, miso + bean pastes. It weirds me out that the majority of the meat is frozen or half frozen. The marinated meats are decent but every time I've gotten it the top pc looks awesome and the bottom pcs fell through my grill grate. Hmmm. :( Shady. Hot deli is not so great. I got the [dok poki] (phonetically) and it was very overcooked to the point that it almost disintegrated when I heated it. The dumplings were sparse on the meat and not fully cooked in the skins. I do however LOVE the cold sides that they offer; those have been pretty great every time I've gotten them....every week. :) read more

This review is for the K-town food court inside the supermarket. We ordered the stir-fry squid and it tasted horrible. The squid was sour, hard/rubbery, and not fresh at all! think they took the squid that was already pre-seasoned (with some sort of vinegar) from one of those pre-packaged side dishes that they sold. The worst stir-fry squid I've ever had!!! In addition, there were barely any squid at all. They added a lot of beansprouts to the stir-fry to make the plate look fuller. And 1/3 of the plate was filled by the shredded cabbage salad. Not worth the price of $13.99! Will not be coming back!!! read more

Even though I do not live in Irvine, I was impressed with a few Hmarts in that town while I was in the town for a social gathering. The store has everything especially the Korean vegetables and the side dishes. I wish we could have a Hmart in Ventura County instead of going to Los Angeles or Orange Counties. read more

This asian market is one of my go-to spots when getting asian groceries, seafood or marinated meats. It is located in the Diamond Jamboree Plaza and you can't miss it. This market is somewhat more on the pricer side when it comes to some produce or meat but its always kept clean and organized and doesn't have too much of that funky fishy smell you will find in most asian markets. The only downside is this marketplace is always busy so parking may be somewhat of a challenge depending on the day and time you come. Weekends are crazy in the plaza overall, but I have always found it calm during the morning weekdays. When craving my korean ribs, I definitely hit up this place because there are some that are already marinated and ready to throw on the grill. So I get my Korean ribs, large jar of kimchee and fresh sides including seaweed salad and fish cakes. read more

I noticed when large Apples are Selling Well, they will begin to PUT OUT THE MOST UNFRESH APPLES. When a certain type of vegetable is SELLING WELL, they will MARK UP THE PRICE right away. This is a good location indeed but I rather drive a little more for better products with steady prices. Feels like this location needs so much improvement on the fresh produce section. read more

At first, the outside is beautiful. But once you come inside, the layout of the building is just discombobulated. Not enough space for two carts, can sometimes barely fit one cart into one aisle. With the tight sections, there are so much food all over the place that you get smushed with everyone going around! There is also one way to get to the cashiers. Wow I used to frequent this market but was very disappointed yesterday. I purchased some meat 2 days ago put it straight in the fridge. Then pulled it out to cook it and it was green all over with a fowl smell. So I went to exchange the meat at Hmart but they said they could not take it back! They said it was my fault! I have shopped at Hmart for several years at the Garden Grove location with no problem. But today was a mistake going into the Irvine Hmart. The cashier, SOPHIA (remember that name), that processed my purchase was rude and disrespectful! When I was at the line putting my items on the belt, she just ignored me and kept chatting with another person. To cue her to start working, I started putting more items on then she gave me a nasty glare and started to finish up her chat. When she started to put my items in the bag, she purposely pressed hard down on two packs of my seaweed inside an overfilled bag, crushing them inside with a heavy jar of kimchi! I was fine with a bit of crushed seaweed. But it gets worst. When she handed me the receipt, I respectfully told her, "Thank you," but she completely ignored me and went straight to the next customer asking if they needed bags for their items. Rude beyond words can describe! No store manager/owner would ever want to treat a paying customer in such a manner. Please fix this issue immediately because I would never want anyone to be treated like how I was treated today. It's unfortunate but I am never setting foot in another Hmart after today! read more

We bought alive sashimi set around 6 pm and ate them for dinner at 9 pm (please check my photo). After dinner around midnight, All four of my family members who ate sashimi and maewontang (spicy soup) for dinner, started to have stomachache, fever, body ache, and throwing up (5-15 times depending on person to the point that we can see blood!! Vomiting blood- i want to share the photo but it is pretty scary) with serious diarrhea. I really worry about safety of the seafood at hmart. I Don't recommend seafood from Hmart especially alive gwang-eo (flatfish)!!!! They are expensive and Not fresh. I ended up going to ER bc my diarrhea and vomiting did't stop till next day. I did some testing and they confirmed that it was not based on virus. So, they confirm that it must be food related!!!!! I am writing this so others don't have to suffer from this! H Mart is my go-to "live" seafood market! I used to prefer Dory fishing Fleet market and would have to wake up by 4 AM. H Mart has equal prices for the same quality but there is no long wait. The quality of the live items remains excellent. Prices for live sweet shrimp "red prawn" range from $26-$29 per pound. Live Maine lobster ranges from $9 dollars to $16 per pound. The lobsters are lively and will stay alive in the refrigerator for over 24 hours. My only complaint is that the weigh station for the fish is out of view. read more

I happen to be in the area and checked out Hmart on a Sunday in October. It's located in the diamond Jamboree shopping center. The store is small compared to Buena Park or Cerritos. Plenty of veggies and fruit but the aisles are cramped and smaller in length. They sell more banchan items than Cerritos. Although they have more seafood items. They don't have enough Mandu frozen variety compared to Cerritos or Buena Park. I didn't see much beauty stuff either. Plenty of parking. read more

I actually like this place more than Zion because they got more variety of the asian food; they do have limited Japanese, Chinese and Cantonese items besides a huge selection of Korean products. Produce is fresh and price is pretty cheap. They also do a lot more than other supermarkets to keep their staff and customers safe. read more

H Mart has a good produce section, with most things Asian, or otherwise, that you could want. (No Okinawan potatoes though:() Their beef spareribs for BBQ are very good, but a little on the pricey side, and the occasional deals on fresh lobster are good. I do really like their fresh fish section, as it's easy to tell just how fresh they are. Prepared foods are in abundance, and the place is always teeming with shoppers. What I really don't like about this place is the parking, as it is a bit of a nightmare to get in and out. Likewise, traffic in the store is equally hectic, with long lines at checkout, and a poorly designed flow. The regular shoppers there are quite pushy, and getting rudely bumped is par for the place. The aisles are a problem for the guys moving things around on carts and dollies, and they tend to get frustrated. Bottlenecks occur around the prepared items and BBQ section on a constant basis. I go there occasionally when I am looking for something specific, but otherwise avoid the stress of the shopping experience. read more

Perks of this Hmart include very fresh produce. The meat has also never disappointed. I especially enjoy the high selection of produce, meats, and packaged food goods. We had one incident where one of the Asian pears we purchased was rotten. We could not check it's freshness because of the packaging. Customer service flat out refused to help us since there was no receipt (despite having a purchased at HMart sticker on the packaging). I understand they had to maintain policy, but the employee did nothing to solve the problem. Despite this one incident, HMart is a solid Asian food grocery, especially produce and meat. I picked up a side dish from here and opened it when I got home to eat. There was beef ROTTING inside. It was gone so bad that it was fizzy and fermenting. And i checked the expiration date. It was expired 5 days ago. My kids could have gotten sick eating that without knowing. It is the most disgusting thing I've smelled. How can you leave food on the main shelf that is five days expired? It could kill people. Food is directly related to safety. All they did was to refund me the money. Normally, I love shopping here. The produce is fresh and the kids like the sashimi. But do not buy the live Dungeness crab. I bought 2 today and went back in to buy a 3rd because it's New Years and I wanted to make sure there would be enough. The 3rd one was a dead dud. I saw the fish monger pulled a live one from the tank but somehow it died on the 5 minute drive home when the other 2 were alive and kicking in the same exact trunk. The way they weigh the crab is fishy. They drop it in a large trash bin to weigh but you can't see what's in the bin. I feel like I got a dead crab swapped out for the live one. I'm really disappointed with this H Mart. I came here for my lunch break to get take out at the food court. I got the kimchee & beef bibimbap, & once I got back to work there was no fried egg on top, or egg at all! & it barely had any beef in it. Just scraps. IM KOREAN & I expect Korean food to be on point. & I feel like they robbed me for my money! $14 for rice & bunch of kimchee. Like what????! I should've KNOWN to walk out once I seen there was no Korean workers cooking/working the food court. How is this a Korean food court but no Koreans handling it?? Anyway, I can't even go back right now because I'm at work. Smh. The egg is the cherry on top for a bibimbap & they left that out! Including beef! I definitely would like a refund! read more

Decent selection of Korean food. Doing pretty well to separate out people and clean for help stop Covid. Main complaint is the marinated bulgogi is clearly not ribeye roll. Not close, it's like flank or something similar and they are marking it up. $7.99 / lb for something that should be $4/lb. see pictures attached. Much cheaper cut than ribeye as it was marked on package. Most of the meat looked like this in my package. read more
