This place is located inside Diamond Jamboree. The parking can get stressful because is crowded. Just be careful because their a lot of reckless driver. This store have everything from vegetable, meat, asian food, bakery, soju, and food. It looks small from the outside, but when you go inside is pretty big. It's a convenient location for a quick/last minute stop but parking is usually horrendous during meal times. I honestly don't think the sales are as good as the ones that other Korean markets [like Zion] have but it's definitely convenient to shop at as long as you can find a parking spot! I enjoy the baked goods from the bakery inside and visit the food court every other month .. it's usually not too busy and I always find a seat. More often than not, I'm buying veggies, spicy pork, kimchi, chili paste, etc. and have no issues with the quality of these items :) read more

H-Mart is a huge Korean Supermarket with a plethora of fruits/vegetables, seafood and a huge selection of ban-chan. I usually go to pick up Korean ramen of banchan (fried tofu, japchae, gimbamp ftw!) and other misc Korean goodies. Parking is usually a nightmare since it's located inside Diamond Jamboree so I usually go earlier in the mornings on the weekends. Check out lines can be bad as well since the patrons don't seem to understand the concept of lines. I haven't been to the food court in awhile but may go back to check it out one day. I occasionally grocery here but not today, I'm here for lunch. This place has a food court and I'm like a big fan of spicy tofu seafood soup sooo here I am trying it out. Wasn't disappointed at all! The soup has tons of soft tofu (of course) clams, 1 shrimp, small chunks of calamari and raw egg that you can optionally crack and drop contents into the soup base then scramble it up. Yum! Comes with sides: white rice, kimchi, broccoli and sliced radish. Caution: the soup is actually still boiling when served, so waiting a few minutes to cool off will obviously prevent tongue burn. Next time around I'm diving in for some ramen soup! read more

This Korean market is pretty small, and the lot is a nightmare at peak times... so I only come if I have to. I usually prefer going to Zion Market for my korean groceries, but I like H-Mart's panchan better. I think the quality of their kalbi is better too, although more expensive. read more

HMart is an Asian grocery store located in the Diamond Jamboree. They have the best selection of vegetables and meats and an amazing seafood section but good grief there is ALWAYS a crowd anytime you go. The parking is insufficient and the bad drivers are even worse. We need to mentally prepare before going. It's a shame that we go only when we need something because we honestly find so many things that we may not otherwise get at a regular grocery store. The aisles are extremely narrow and the patrons are rude and if you don't pay attention you will get run over. Worth it but not worth it! ‍ read more

It's alright - fish and meat are mostly the highlights of this store. They have frozen and non-frozen meats, so you can decide what quality and how much you want to spend. Seafood I don't normally get but everyone says it's good and prices are right. This store is a little smaller than a few of the other H Marts, but the meat area is usually sufficient unless you go day of a huge holiday or something. Though they make you walk through the seafoods and meat, crowded with carts, to get to the rest of the store which is baffling. Produce is fine but wouldn't brag home about it. Shelved items are not bad, but I went to buy the rice cooking wine I'd gotten there before and it was not on the cooking aisle, which was very confusing to me, and caused me to spend almost 5 minutes making sure I hadn't overlooked it. And since half the labels are only printed in Korean, I picked one up which was very close but turned out not to be the same thing. So then I wandered over to the and there they were, but not one with the same label I'm used to. Went back to the aisle I was on, and up in the "storage" (overstock) shelf they had one that I usually buy. So I got that one. The checkers are all h.s. / college kids who are decent at rushing you through but not much else. That's fine but they need to get back some actual adults to supervise / manage like I'm used to and always seen before. I asked for a paper (bottle sized) bag to put my big rice wine in so it won't break before I get home they said yeah we don't have that anymore sorry (end of conversation what??) I also got a chocolate filled pastry at the bakery inside, which is a separate business and name (Tous les Jours) and it was delicious and cheap so if you don't want to walk or wait in line (ahem 85C) then just come here and grab one, hand them $2 and shove it in your face like I did. BAM, done. Finally the sidewalk is a major tripping hazard and they make it so you can't even get through, you literally have to walk in the road (parking lot / thruway to the rest of the plaza) constantly. If I was looking for somebody to bilk a few dinar out of, I know where I'd go. And have the worst solicitors outside I don't even know what they are saying. I have been on a Japanese Swiss Roll Cake kick for quite a while. Don't ask me why it's called Japanese Swiss Roll Cake - I do not know, as I am not the genius who thought of that strange moniker. What the heck is a Japanese Swiss Roll Cake anyways? Well, it's a Japanese made vanilla roulade. Still confused? Imagine a thin vanilla cake spread with a whipped butter filling and then rolled like a cinnamon roll. I ration the cake because I will only thaw one slice at a time. Otherwise, I'd eat all four slices at one time - as there are four slices in each package. That would be no bueno. I suggest bringing the cake to room temperature and enjoying each slice by tearing small bites and savoring the light cake with a touch of the whipped butter. It's quite tasty. I have also tried JJ Bakery's version of the roll cake and it's quite inferior. It's rather stale and the texture of the cake is off. I am not sure if it is my preference for the processed version rather than the "fresh" roll cake offered at the Bakery. Although, I have my doubts as to the freshness of the roll cake offered at JJ Bakery. Nonetheless, I prefer the Japanese Roll Cake that was probably made months ago. So much for my discriminating palate. Touche. The Japanese Roll Cakes are sold in the refrigerated section adjacent to the sake and soju. Just sayin' Also, H-Mart has Brobdingnagian-sized apples. OMG!!! Do not and I repeat, DO NOT get fish from their seafood department. I bought 2 kinds of fish from here but it wasn't fresh. When I was driving home, my entire car started smelling fishy and when I brought the fish home, it smelled so strong I had to rinse it off a lot before I could cook it. Luckily I was using it the same day but I buy the same fish at 99 Ranch Market and it never smells like this!! I still like this place for other things such as vegetables and various banchan. Found my favorite ramen, yakisoba, kimbap, shrimp chips, a couple treats for my son, and of course kimchi. There's a little beauty counter and a small florist counter as well. Parking can get a little crazy in this center, but it was not too crowded at 5pm on a Thursday night. read more

I love Korean food and this is the perfect place for me. I came here today for some groceries, the fridge was a bit low on meat. Parking was kind of challenging and slow. It was a weekend so that's understandable. It probably took me ten to fifteen minutes to find parking and I got lucky. Someone pulled out right in front of me and I took their spot. Since it was crowded today and the aisles are a bit narrow, I had to maneuver a bit to get to what I wanted. I love the seafood and meat sections here. They have Korean bbq options too, marinated and ready to cook. I got some salmon, pork belly, enoki mushrooms, dried seaweed, pickled radish and ketchup. Their prices are great. I got all that for about $22. The cashier was nice and I got out of there as quickly as possible. Weekends can be pretty hectic, but I really like the food they have here. read more

Who loves noodles? This girl. And H-Mart provides everything I need to make it happen. I enjoy cooking at home, and most of the time, I stick to what I know - Asian cuisine. It may be a Korean-focused market, but they have so much more than just Korean products. You can find Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese ingredients here (mainly what I eat and cook) and they're all reasonably priced. The produce section is probably one of the best things about H-Mart. They have a huge selection, relatively cheap and always fresh. I just bought green onions priced at 7 for $.99. Yeeeees, that's how it should be! Not that $.99 per bunch BS at Albertson's. It's just green onions, man. However, I would say American products are more "specialty" and are a bit more expensive - for example, a single can of spam was $3.99. That's hefty. And I would probably stay away from other American products too, like milk is more than $4 easy. Ouch. Time to get me a cow and a pig. For me, my most favorite place in the entire store... the ban chan section. It's all boxed up ready for you to take home (where you can safely devour an entire portion of fishcake by yourself, like me, or share with someone. I do the latter begrudgingly.) They have everything from containers of kim chi, fishcake, octopus, dried squid, jangjorim, agar jelly... it goes on. If you're cooking-impaired and planning a Korean feast, H-Mart is your best friend on that front. They also have fresh rice paper at the front! It's... so good fresh. I got a bit creative with leftovers and sliced them into noodles for a stir fry. Yeah, baby. Now, second stop for me is either noodles or dumplings. Sometimes (read: definitely), both. The frozen section is a snacker's paradise. I load up on cheap dumplings for the days I don't feel like cooking - it's just so easy. They even sell the Taiwanese green onion pancake here, and it's the good, fluffy stuff, too! The noodle section... is a sight all on its own and the ideas jump out at you from all directions. I am not lying when I say I brought home four types of noodles, all from different cultures. I got soba (Japanese), rice vermicelli (Vietnamese), wheat noodles (Taiwanese) and sweet potato noodles (Korean). Not too many places can boast that kind of variety and I am a sucker for options. If you can't make your own noodles, go check out that instant noodle aisle... It's the perfect size, not too overwhelming but you got plenty to choose from. Got the shin ramyun Black and it's... AMAZING. Highly recommend. I really love this place, but I don't deny it can get a little pricey. Asian recipes do call for high quality items, sometimes and those do come at a price, but respectfully so. I came here recently on a Wed. night about an hour before closing,. The parking lot, in typical Irvine fashion, was totally busy because of minimal entry and exit points into this complex. That's why I won't come here on a weekend or near lunch of dinner time. I was looking for some produce, and like most Korean markets, have a wide selection with decent prices. The quality of the produce is a mixed bag with some items a tad past its prime, like the plums, chayotes and cooking bananas that I was looking for. The greens, though, looked great, as did the mangoes, citrus, and apples. So, on to the cookies...but I sort of looked through the whole store. Lots of noodles, dried goods, canned and bottled korean and Asian products... At this late hour, the place was fairly clean and well stocked. By this time, all of the food court places were closed or ready to close. They had a bakery I wanted to try, but it was so dark and quiet you could sleep there. There was a fried chicken place that was still open, but I already had dinner. I loved looking at all of the different kimchees. The fish section as someone else said, was fishy smelling as they were getting ready to clean it. Lots of fresh and live fish. There were some large live lobsters for $10 or so a pound. Some were fiesty, and though that it sometimes a human quality you don't want in friends, those are the live lobsters you want, they're fresher. If you ever cook lobster, though, do it humanely...in very hot boiling water one at a time. Don't pile them into a pot or they'll all get on top of each other and try to jump out of the pot. All that movement will make PETA and most people cringe and feel guilty. But I digress. Good cookie selection. I bought some hazelnut wafers. But they didn't have the produce I wanted. Check out was not bad for near closing time. I knew a college student who used to work here and he said this place can be too crowded to shop on weekends. They have every Asian thing here but the avocados on the "fresh" sushi is brown . This place is over populated and the customers are RUDE and ARROGANT. When you ask workers for help they ignore you or say idk where the item is located. It's smells really bad in there as well but I guess a plus side the fried chicken is really good. read more

I'm a fan of Hmart in general. But I particularly love this Hmart. When you walk in, you are immediately in the produce department, which is the main reason why I come to Hmart. Whenever there's a sale, the prices are awesome! Box of 18 count mangoes for $6.99? 4 avocados for $1? Kyoho grapes for &1.79/lb? Yes please! I also like the little food court to the right side of the grocery store. The dolsot bibimbap is pretty decent. The hot stone pot burns the rice a bit and gives it a nice crunchy, chewy texture and slight nutty taste. Give it a try if you don't want to wait in line at the other Korean restaurants in the same shopping complex. The driving/parking situation can be quite dicey on the weekends. Most people enter the Diamond Jamboree shopping center via the entrance by Hmart. So be vigilant! read more

I stop by H Mart every few weeks to stock up on their pre-made food or when I get on an asian food kick. Their japchae (korean noodles) is so good, and at $4 a pack, will last me a few meals. They have a good selection of all the little side dishes like kimchi, and for the meat eaters out there (myself not included), they have all kinds of marinated meat, although it is on the pricey range. During the weekdays, they have really generous samples...one server was giving out full size dumplings which was a great snack. They also have a food court now, with ramen, bibimbap, and a pizza and wings place. Servings are big, so at around $8-10 a dish, you can grab a cheap lunch. Weekends are absolutely crazy though...I usually park in the structure then bring the car around later once we've checked out. read more

Located in our favorite Asian shopping center in Irvine, H Mart is our go to place to stock up on food & supplies before we head back home to AZ. This place has everything from fresh produce to dried goods. I don't know what 99% of the stuff is, but I recognize packages and I'm willing to try stuff out. The people here a very friendly and when we ask questions, they're very nice about answering our sometimes ridiculous questions about food & products. The one thing I wish they could get fixed is the parking situation. The parking lot is a hot mess during the evening, especially on weekend nights. I think that's because the other areas of the shopping center fill up and people park in the H Mart lot to go to the other stores/restaurants nearby. It won't stop me from returning though. WAAAY better than the garden grove location! This Hmart in Diamond Jamboree is super clean and organized. It's also always packed here no matter what day/time. I recently came here after work to pick up some groceries to cook dinner and had one of THE BEST customer service ever. I'm not sure why, but a lot of korean markets have employees who only speak Spanish or only speak Korean with very little English. Luckily though, this Hmart has a couple of emplyoees who speak fluent english AND korean. Their customer service was superb for an asian supermarket. I had trouble reading the labels of items and weren't sure about how to use it etc. Thank god I bumped into seriously the best employee ever, his name is Nicholas. The dude spent like forever w/ me trying to find the right ingredients to make soondubu and gochuchang. He did a lot of translating w/ the manager as well. On top of that he helped me sign up for the Hmart membership card. I didn't know that there was a membership card!! I believe it was every 1k points you get $10 or something. Hell if i knew about this earlier from the garden grove location, I'd have so many points racked up already -__- Anyway, a lot of the produce here are pretty fresh and really cheap. I would much rather buy produce here than 99 ranch or the vietnamese supermarket. The produce here don't look like they're about to rot like those other asian markets. I also love the prepared food section here, LOTS of premade banchans (fishcake, seaweed salad, picked spicy cucumbers, etc.) The meat section has a lot of frozen shabu meats as well as Snake River Farms Kobe meats. There is also the area where you'll see one of the workers packing up marinated kbbq. I like that it's by weight so you can tell her to pack however much you need rather than having to buy 1-2lbs if you're trying to feed just yourself. Fish dept is pretty clean, doesn't have a fishy smell and all the fish look fresh. The sauce aisle has a large variety as well. Was able to pickup some amazing thai chili basil paste to make spicy eggplant basil chicken at home. There are plenty of curry seasonings, pad thai, pho (quoc viet foods beef pho base), etc. There's also a food court inside. I will have to agree with everyone when they say this H Mart is super clean and organized. Compared to Freshia, the cleanliness at H Mart rocks Freshia into a whole 'nother dimension. This place isn't as big as the H Mart location in Diamond Bar. I remember Diamond Bar having one big room strictly housing instant noodles. That room was like my heaven. At this location, they only have one small row for instant noodles. If you want to buy it by the box, you'll have to walk around the market and look for it. They're scattered everywhere on top of their fridges. I've tried the food in their food court. MEH! We were so not impressed. My brother-in-law is Korean, so he knows good Korean food. He said the food here was disappointing. They also have a bakery (Tours Les Jours). I really enjoyed their kimchi section. I was like a kid in a candy store! My basket was already filled and I wasn't even halfway through the section. Their ready made soybean paste soup was decent. Dozens of other places make it better. Like everyone has said, their produce is super fresh and cheap! I always try to get a box of raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries. I have enough food to feed myself for a week, and my receipt was only $30 to boot! If I had to choose, I'd probably pick the Diamond Bar location over this one. This is one of my favorite Asian supermarkets. Although this is a Korean store, they also carry quite a bit of other non-Korean Asian items. This is a great concept and more and more Asian stores are doing the same thing so that customers can do one-stop shopping. For example, when I go to 99 Ranch Market to shop for Chinese food, I can also pick up some Japanese wasabi and Korean kimci. At H Mart, I can come here for Korean food and at the same time pick up some Chinese vegetables and Japanese sushi. This is great! The fruit and vegetable section is large and most of the items appear fresh and appealing. They often have very large and sweet grapes and strawberries which are my favorites. You can also find a wide variety of vegetables, even Chinese bok choi. There's a section that sells marinated ready-to-cook Korean BBQ meat. If you are not familiar, make sure you ask questions because there are different grades of beef, and the cheapest is usually not the best bargain. If you want a tender cut, you need to get the rib eye. The sushi section is also quite large, with a lots of selections. However, their sushi section is not my favorite. Firstly, they don't make tuna sushi by themselves, but instead have the tuna in the assorted packages. Moreover, their sushi quality is not the best. For the best supermarket sushi, I prefer Mitsuwa. The section that I frequent the most is the Korean snacks section, in the large refrigerated section. There you can find kimci, a wide variety of marinated beans, hot and spicy tofu, Korean potato salad, pickled vegetables, among dozens of other items. Be sure to be bold and adventurous and try a lot of new things there! The rest of the market is pretty basic, just like most supermarkets. There are aisles of meat, noodles, dry food, candies, canned food etc. Pretty much where you pick up your daily staples. I have always had enjoyable shopping experiences here and I'll keep coming back. read more

I like my Ralph but is not fair comparing it to Hmart. I don't get how everything is soo cheap here and so fresh. I would come here every week if wasn't for being 20miles away from where I live. I think I've found my Asian Market soulmate. It's all those things. Big. Reasonably clean. Reasonably priced. A nice midrange supermarket with lots of Asian specialty foods that won't exploit your wallet too badly. Probably easier to go here than three other smaller places. Need few jars of pickled kimchi, all ready to go? H Mart. Pretty average H Mart located in a plaza with lots of other Asian stores and restaurants. I like this one because its pretty clean and doesn't have a strong seafood odor (unless you're very close to the fish tanks). Other than that its just another grocery store. If you're not familiar with H Mart, they mainly carry Korean items with a few Chinese products as well. There is a beauty store and bakery inside, and a very large selection of take-out, pre-made foods. They have a decent selection of Asian fruits but Little Saigon has a lot more -- they carry dragon fruit and pomegranates a lot but I don't really see passion fruit here. My only real criticism is that the people who work here seem very unfriendly. I am Chinese, not Korean, and I have no idea if its because I am clearly not Korean or if it is because I come here with my caucasian boyfriend, but the women handing out samples or working on the floor give us these very annoying smirks. They don't even offer us samples, not that I was really wanting any. I just found it rude that they would stare at us or not offer us anything, when their job is to give samples. I'll head over to the 99 Ranch Super Markets (another Asian grocery chain) for when I need something but despite the unfriendly people at this H Mart, I'll probably still shop here -- but only when I am already in the plaza for something else. read more

I'm updating the review to let everyone know Hmart team reached me out, explained why the situation happened and that won't happen anymore at this particular location. We haven't visit the store again yet, but we were satisfied by the way the matter was handled. #### If you have a service animal, make sure you stay away from this H Mart. My wife has an emotional support animal and she was not allowed to access the market with it, not even holding it on her arms. I was asked by the security person to wait with her dog outside the market while she had to go shopping alone. The security person clearly was not aware about the laws that rule service animals and asked us for its ID, which is something that doesn't exist even though several people who want to take advantage of the law illegally buy them on the web. I explained to the security guard that such ID doesn't exist legally and those who show them are exploiting the law. The only existing legal proof of a emotional animal is a psychiatrist letter and even though he was not legally authorized to request it to us or even I was obligated to show it to anyone. The only legal question he was authorized to ask us was if it is a service animal and he should trust our answer. Despite all, I presented him a digital copy of the letter provide by my wife's psychiatrist but the security guard refused to read it and ironized it saying what I was showing him was just a file on my email, implying we were lying and presenting a fake document. We will try to reach out the store manager (while I was outside waiting for my wife I called the store and there wasn't any manager on duty) and I hope they can properly train their security team about the service animal law, otherwise I anticipate H Mart losing hundreds of thousands of dollar in sues and those who depend on service animals not being able to do their grocery shopping alone. read more
