Easier Hmart access for us that live downtown and don't want to train uptown....they have the staples, what more can you ask for

I actually like this Hmart way better than the one in Ktown. Super excited that this one opened up downtown. It is much smaller and condensed, but it has everything that I need. Also, it seems cleaner. And it has better hot-food options. It isn't the best in terms of social distancing - the aisles themselves are just tiny. But if you come during off-hours, it's totally doable, and it's not even that crowded on the later hours on a weekday. The produce is always fresh, I've yet to find anything low or out of stock. Again, I'm not going for prepping a full on korean-meal from scratch. Many of the items are actually kits-based now which I can easily pick up. One thing that has been consistent is a super fast check-out. I LOVE a good and fast check-out. This one is definitely comparable to the one up in Ktown. Mind you, I am comparing this in an Hmart to Hmart comparison. If I were to compare it to a bodega, I would definitely prefer it more but mostly because it gravitates towards the cuisine I like and enjoy. If I were to compare it though to the ones back home in Atlanta, this one doesn't even touch the seafood and meat department. I want to rate it for what it is, with NYC sized proportions and limitations. If there's anything I wish, it was that it did have more of a meat and seafood section. That though, is a whole other upkeep that management would have to take on, and I'm not sure if they even have the space for it. I'd still go here and still do whenever I'm walking over this far on the lower east side of Manhattan! read more

Great grocery store to get your Asian groceries you normally won't find at your local Trader Joes or Whole Foods. I do find the Koreatown location a lot better in terms of fresh seafood selection as this location has a super limited selection. Otherwise, they have a expansive selection of items, including precooked packaged meals, which comes in handy when you're on the go. read more

I like this HMart in the city and come almost every month to twice a month. It feels cleaner and has more space compare to the one in Ktown. This Hmart also sells fried chicken which is really good for the price you pay. I always come to get the side dishes from Jinger. The price is not cheap overall but they carry good quality food and there are ample selection of frozen and dry goods. read more

I bought Yakult from the market it tasted bad. I checked the expiration date which is still good. I bet they did not storage it for the right temperature which is refrigerated all the time. That's why it tastes bad and had alcohol taste in it. So be careful to buy their product. Not all of them are fresh and good. I once bought a box of kiwis and went back home. They were all bad. End up I had to compost them all. For their price point, they should provide good product, at least not bad. I understand that nowadays it's tough. I appreciate the store and the staff. But if the products are bad. They should not exist on the shelves. They are lying to the customers. And these day, we won't be able to take the items to do the refund easily. Watch out! read more

Nice sparkling and shiny new H Mart with a lot of different types of Asian goods inckuding Thai, Chinese, Japanese and of course tons and tons of Korean stuff. Found a bunch of different options for Japanese Fashion, More and Soy Sauce. There are noodles of all kinds and even Wagyu. There is a small area of cooked bowls, even bibimbap, Japanese sushi, of course Kimbap and even fresh bread. They also have many frozen goods including pre-marinated bulgogi. While I was there staff was constantly restocking. Shelves always looked full. Very cool spot to have the supermarket too, right there in little Japan! read more

It seems kind of ridiculous to write a 5 star review of a grocery store, but this is the best H-Mart I've been to hands down. This is coming from someone who has been to a few across New Jersey, New York, and Los Angeles so I'd like to say I know what I'm talking about as far as H-Marts go. This one is well organized, clean, and well stocked with a wide variety of snacks, meats, prepared foods, ramen of course, and fresh fruits and veggies. I found some awesome items here that I haven't been able to find at other locations like Ruby Chocolate Kit Kate topped with dried fruits and nuts, as well as multiple different varieties of shrimp chips. Cool store with interesting but pricey items. Fun to walk through but I wouldn't recommend the hot food that is on display. I got the pork katsu but it was quite tough and each piece was totally dried out at the end. Last piece was the worst. I attached the photo. Seems like the food doesn't turn often so it had been sitting out under the heat lamp for too long. read more

I'm sure the food is great here. Difference in opinion with the security guard that didn't allow me to roll my fold up bike around the store just so that I can pick up fried chicken. My bike folds up and can trolly around with a footprint as small as a shopping cart. On the plus side it's good that he follows his job, but just NOT open to my justification to why I would not get in the way of other patrons. Bad news I'll never support the business because of this bad customer experience. But the store is doing just fine without my business. One bad security guard equals one bad review. But sure it doesn't mean much to the store owners. read more

H Mart's. Got it going on. An astonishing number of products in each store. They give a first impression of chaos, but everything is well-ordered, it's just always crowded and high energy. If you can flag down a staffer they can help you find whatever you need, and if you need someone to explain the differences between a dozen different tofus, they can do that, too. Lots of hard-to-find products, but also basic groceries, and prices are reasonable. I recommend getting one thing you don't know anything about on each visit - it's a low-investment way to find your new favorite food! read more

Decent sized hmart with lots of different items from fruits/vegetables, meat/seafood, frozen items, udon/rice cakes/rice, cooked korean food, Asian snacks/beverages, bread and some homemade korean dessert sometimes. They sell cute socks, bowls/plates, shot glasses, a couple simple makeup like eyeliners and sanitary items. Pretty fresh and decent ingredients. Lots of my childhood favourites. A bit on the pricier side but for its quality and convenience and imported items it's still pretty reasonable and worth it. Good service and friendly staffs. Clean and organized. A couple blocks from bus stops and L train, and several blocks but walkable to union square subway station (yellow and green lines). read more

I came here for ramen. The selection was large, however it was more expensive than I expected. A family pack of Shin ramen (NOT Black) was 7.99. The really expensive grocery store near where I live is 7.59. I also bought a large bottle of less sodium soy sauce that I do not find in usual grocery stores. The store is very organized. Ps. It's pretty expensive. One sleeve of Yakut is about 5 but you can get it for cheaper down the block at teso for about 3. Decent variety of things but I was pretty deterred by the prices. Exactly like how my mom always complains that she doesn't like shopping for things at Asian stores here when she can get it shipped from home for cheaper. read more

Absolutely amazing place to shop!! This Hmart had everything I was looking for from dumplings to kimchi to fresh vegetables to more! Everything is well organized and the staff is available to help you if you are looking for something- they are also super friendly and the store is so clean. This Hmart in particular has a great selection of ice creams and ramen. I found this ramen I had been looking for here within 3 seconds of scanning the aisle because it's so well organized! I find it extremely annoying and highly insulting that this place checks your bags as you walk out. I went in to see if they had open their fried chicken counter open yet, and there's a security guard at the door who asked to look in my bag as I walk out. Give me a break people! It's a grocery store not Tiffany's or some club. Do they think someone is going to steal a package of Ramen or rice cakes? Compared to the amount of money that you lose from a customer who actually does pay a few hundred dollars worth in groceries, and the measly $10 you're going to lose if a student here & there walks out with a Ramen package, this is a ridiculous security measure & a waste - and insults peoples dignity. I am an Asian customer who will now cross this place off of my grocery visit list just out of principle. I'm not sure if the other location also practice is this, but this location is disappointing. read more

Hmart has a wide selection of Asian produce/meats, bakery, prepared food, pantry/packaged items, frozen food. I could easily do all my weekly shopping here if I wanted to. Some items are overpriced /marked up with an East Village/NYU premium, so I shop selectively. I come here for the Asian vegetables that are harder to find in regular supermarkets (Asian eggplant, long hot peppers, daikon radish), Korean prepared sides in refrigerated section (kimchee, radish salad, spicy tofu) or the crispy fried chicken in the hot food area (especially honey garlic one) when I don't feel like cooking, and trying out different frozen ice cream treats when I am craving dessert. read more

Giving stars for being an at ease store during this panedemic. The fact that they were opened at usual early hrs(others places have imposed hrs that make it difficult to shop) and had basically all food essentials plus. Helpful and courteous staff is all we need now with these rushed/uncertain times. So, I appreciate that my mom and l had a nice adventure here. read more

Wow this hmart has to be one of the better ones and it's in a convenient location. As someone who shops regularly at the Asian supermarkets outside of manhattan, I was surprised by this location's large selection of Asian goods from produce, meat, frozen foods, ready to eat meals, pastries, snacks, ramen, and more! I even noticed that they have microwaves and a standing counter space where you can heat up the food and stay for a quick food break (just like the convenience stores in Asia). The best part was, I was able to find several things that I would not be able to find elsewhere. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm around the area to see what new items they'll carry. read more

Store requires masks (understandable) but they treats u like u already have the disease. They stopped u at the front and make u use their hand sanitizer. They said it very disrespectfully. It happens all the time with the attitude. Today when I have my kid with me, the lady didn't bag the stuff for me. No problem, I was bagging it while I had the card inserted for payment. When it's done it made a beeping noise until I take the card out. In the mist of bagging the stuff and watching my toddler, the cashier was like take the card out! So whatever I was too overwhelmed to argue with her. I took it and go back to bag my stuff. Then she called the next customer over. I was still at the station bagging with my kid there. Wtf. So what's up with the social distancing? Stop acting like u take COVID seriously but you are not. No one in the 3rd ave store is nice. We go there coz it's close by. They don't deserve my money. We will go somewhere else. Why these kind of stores which have poor customer services survive while the great stores succumb to COVID. Well at least they lose me. Randomly noticed this place the other night and I felt so lucky! Spacious, super shiny and new, very clean, and packed with options. Great seafood selection and there are so many choices for dumplings. Also, tasteful selection of novelty/specialty items. I picked up a salmon steak, kimchi, Japanese soap, and green tea cookies & Kit Kats. They have gorgeous bowls and good containers for work lunches. Very reasonable prices. The cashier was friendly and told me about an upcoming sale, and also gave me a really nice tote to carry all my stuff home. A+ read more

It's clean, the music and ambiance for a grocery store is great, they have a large selection (there's bigger out there, bit this is all I need), and the employees are all pleasant. This is honestly my favorite location too - midtown is just way too busy and hard to move around people. This one has just enough space for it to be a comfortable shopping experience. OK H Mart everything is great but you do have too many employees walking around at all time. It is hard for us customer to walk around the store. I don't think you need that much employee stocking stuff all the time. I swear 90% of the time I went they will have some random people adjusting prices label or something. This is a really cool place with very friendly staff. I was trying to put together all our favorite hot pot items, spices, and soup base and the staff helped me find everything and recommended stuff too! There is also an aisle for cute dishes and other glassware. So many different types of frozen gyoza and noodles. Definitely will frequent this place! read more

This H Mart is adjacent to my neighborhood, and I probably buy half of my groceries there. The huge selection of Asian ingredients and condiments have improved my cooking, and the cravable prepared foods have kept me healthy. The store is well run, the people are pleasant, and I've always felt extra safe there during the pandemic. If I need a wider selection, I go to the bigger store in Koreatown. Very clean, fairly spacious h mart. Personally I cannot stand going to the one in k town because it is always so cramped and the staff is always so rude. One of them nearly flattened me with a dolly full of food once, and both customers and staff are always pissed off. Not the case here. It's definitely still on the smaller side, but there is a big selection of frozen goods as well as the standard small produce section, and of course snacks and noodles. Prices are definitely steep, but normal for imported goods in manhattan I'd say. There is actually room to walk which is the most important thing (lol). Staff were courteous and even gave my friend a free box of banana milk, which I ended up taking home. A polarizing treat, but one that I like! read more

I am a fan of Korean food and it's great that now I don't have to go all the way to the one in Korea town. The prices hurt a little, but my fridge jam packed with cases of banana milk helps me get over it. Happy shopping! read more

It's quite a small hmart and each aisles is really cramped and narrow. The chips and ramen section is really extensive but it just sucks how small of a space it is. Quite difficult to get through the aisles without having to go a different way because someone is in your way. But I get it, it's the city. On the bright side, the security guard will ask you to use their hand sanitizer upon entry so I give them 3 stars. Average but the ktown location is much better. read more

Selection is good considering this store is smaller than most H marts. The price is relatively the same if not cheaper than the one located in ktown. I feel like security is located in a awkward place bc he blocks the exit and then proceeds to manually open the door for you while he stares into your reusable bags. Maybe just have a monitor for him to look at so he actually knows which Individuals to stop. read more
