Lettuce wrapped veggie burger with portobello & fried green beans yummy
Natasha K.

Consistently good burgers. Their tempura green beans and tempura avocado have been really yummy (though greasy obviously). The grilled cheese, which I always get my kid, is really good -- I like the buttery bread they use. Their shakes are delicious and big. I'll keep coming back.

My wife has been married to me for 19 years now (I'm surprised that she's still sane, but I did find a voodoo doll with needles sticking out of it recently). We had lunch here on Tuesday to celebrate. This is my first review this year. I was so rusty that my wife had to take the pics (I realized when we got here that my camera battery was dead). I'm going to round up. I would give 3.5 stars if I could. The hours are great: Sun-Thur 10:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m.; Fri and Sat 10:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. The atmosphere is chill, and this location is nice and clean. It replaced Fuddruckers over 4 years ago. Our cashier was quick and friendly. All the staff members seemed to be Latina, and they worked well together. I enjoyed the music that was played. It was odd that two Tom Petty songs were played within minutes of each other ("American Girl"; "Free Fallin'"), but I'm not complaining. My wife enjoyed her Black Tea. I helped myself to three types of drinks (ex: Mountain Dew; Dr. Pepper). Lol. Our order was correct (for example, I didn't want any veggies on my burger), and we only had to wait about 5 minutes. The condiment section is impressive (napkins; straws; ketchup; hot peppers; jalapeños; sugar packets; salt and pepper packets). The restrooms are on the right and around the corner. They're small, but modern. It was loud inside the men's restroom due to the air conditioning, and they were out of paper towels. A woman with a water bottle suddenly came in and helped herself to a drink. She gestured to the staff when she headed out, and she may have been an employee who was off work. Note: All prices include tax. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/habit-burger-and-grill-union-city?select=cHv6lf017gFPB0cDJzqpow Our meal was $52.54. I was annoyed that the prices online were off in terms of the combos. (Because she wanted Sweet Potato Fries, my wife's combo was $19.90.) https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/habit-burger-and-grill-union-city?select=c0Q1UsWD50nMFejHe9tY0w BBQ Bacon Char With Cheese: 8/10. The sauce might be Sweet Baby Ray's. My wife was pleased with her burger. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/habit-burger-and-grill-union-city?select=2nMwj_74IfVCTy5VZEl2ng 5 PCS Crispy Chicken Bites: 7.5/10. My wife was more of a fan than I was. The bites were even smaller than I expected, and two pieces were too hard to eat. Taste wise, they were pretty good, but nothing special, and $6.63 is too much for what you get. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/habit-burger-and-grill-union-city?select=-wTup3psw2d2fBh_7NKWPw French Fries: 8/10. They were tasty (I added some salt, but didn't need to), and I was given a good amount. Sweet Potato Fries: 7/10. They were kind of bland, and our fries were lukewarm. I should have complained because The Habit regularly gives us lukewarm fries. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/habit-burger-and-grill-union-city?select=w0TJsV9hmOiuY0sEHarO6w Onion Rings and Double Char With Cheese (the charge for adding bacon is $2.22): 9/10; 8.5/10. Our onion rings were crunchy, but not overly so. They were also delicious. I even ate one that my wife briefly dropped on the table. My burger was scrumptious, but kind of small. The lack of veggies was only partly behind it. I had to search closely for the second patty. My bacon was good and not too fatty. The seating capacity is about 60, and there's a waiting area that seats 4. In general, there should be plenty of parking. I can't give it a glowing recommendation, but I like this location overall. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWxy04kgAYk&list=RDyWxy04kgAYk&start_radio=1

Kids burger, fries, and drink with candy as a dessert

It's been a few years since I last reviewed this location, and I'm happy to report that it's still very clean with a calm, quiet ambiance. I didn't get much of a chance to interact with the staff this time since we ordered at a kiosk and my husband picked up the food--but even so, service was impressively fast for a sit-down spot. This time, I ordered the Santa Barbara Cobb Salad. Unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing. The lettuce was slightly wilted, and the salad lacked the variety of ingredients I expected. It was mostly lettuce, chicken, and bacon. I only saw about three small tomato pieces and a couple of blue cheese crumbles. There was some egg, but not much of it. The flavor was still good, and maybe I ordered a little late in the day--but for the price, I expected a bit more. I also tried the Tempura Avocado. Honestly, I didn't love it--but that's probably just personal preference. I don't think it's The Habit's fault; I just don't enjoy avocado as much as others seem to. Overall, we still enjoy coming here for the peaceful atmosphere and generally satisfying food.

Santa Barbara Cobb Salad. Light & Refreshing

Food was good but the service wasn't great. Worker didn't want to give us any extra ranch and wanted to charge us for it. Probably won't come back to this location.

Thicker burgers than In N Out. The classic family charbox is really inexpensive, $35 plus tax for 4 burgers and fries. We love this charbox. Service is fast, casual dining, seating available.

We came to try out their new chicken club and it was delicious! It was loaded with fresh tomatoes and lettuce however the price point seemed really high for the amount of food you get. If it weren't for a deal, I don't think I would have ventured to try this item. I also ordered a serving of onion rings which were super crispy and stayed crispy throughout the afternoon. The portion size was fair for the price point. They also have some interesting drinks like strawberry limeade, hibiscus water, and teas. We didn't partake in any beverages this time around but on a hot day, they do look refreshing! We chose to take out but the restaurant is really nice inside. There were plenty of tables and chairs the place looked relatively well kept. Before you sit down or take off, make a visit to their sauce and toppings bar to grab some ketchup, jalapeños, chili peppers, limes, or pepperoncinis. They're on the house and can add a kick to your meal! Overall, I'd prefer to stick to their burgers but regardless, every visit has been an enjoyable experience so far. Their service is better than most and the quality of food is great. The prices can be shocking but if you catch a deal through their mobile app, it can be worth the visit!

Today, we bombarded the Habit with about 50 people (Half of them kindergartens) to feed us for lunch and they did a great job serving us and accommodating us! The food was ready on our arrival. Thank you Iris and everyone who was working today! :)

I placed an online order to pickup my free charburger for my birthday and I have no complaints. I was able to find close parking, and my order was ready in less than 10 minutes. The charburger was cooked to my liking and I would definitely order from this location again.

Iris is an amazing restaurant manager! She helped me out with a lost order and immediately attended to my needs. She's hospitable, responsible, and timely with her service. P.S. The Santa Barbara char was an amazing burger. Hot and well charred. No burn.

I placed a late order 30 mins to close and the quality of food and fast service was the same as placing an order during lunch rush. This location is always clean and the staff is friendly.

Where's the grilled onions and the charred burger? Just a regular grilled hamburger not charbroiled. Not returning. Don't waste your hard earned $$ on this junk. Shame.

I left a message yesterday about my food which was black, slimy avacado and dried out chicken and no one even bothered to call me back. Very poor customer service

My largest complaint is that the meat is all centered in the middle so it looks like you get a ton of meat but about 1/3 of the sandwich is empty. But don't think there are multiple locations...yet. Upon receiving my sandwiches, it was wrapped in a paper with their company logo, and from a quick glance it is super similar to the Jersey Mikes logo in terms of color, so it has a real familiar vibe. No hate just an observation. This used to be another restaurant (maybe even several) on the edge of an industrial zone/business park, but also not too far from several shopping strips. There's spacious seating inside, but in the later afternoon when I went, nobody was eating in. But quite a few take-out and third party pick-ups. I even saw a poster showcasing their catering aspect for common work lunches on the company dime. Good for them. Niles Canyon ($14.50/4*) I opted to up this to their combo meal which includes a bag of chips and a soda for another $5. So this was easily a $20 lunch meal without tipping yet. Pricey yes, but not because they are pricier than most, but that is just the going rate for eating a meal outside these days. $15 - $20 per person are common and anything under $15 is now considered cheap eats and getting harder to run into. This sandwich had slightly warmed up deli turkey that when stacked with the swiss cheese slices, kinda softened the cheese. It wasn't ooey gooey but the cheese wasn't firm and cold either. There was another layer of prosciutto as well which wasn't too noticeable but did add another dimension. I chose to go with the full produce choice, as I love the freshness of veggies to go with meat sandwiches. There was also a layer of fresh avo slices which lent a creamy richness to the bites. I tried one of their sliced breads to go for this sandwich, as I tried a sourdough roll for another sandwich that I got to-go for my work lunch the next day. That way I got to sample their bread offerings. Their sliced marbled rye bread is thick sliced, very soft and moist with a good bread chew. They use a good bread supplier for sure. On top of mayo and mustard which is common, they also put their Bomb Sauce which seems like a garlic-y spread of sorts. I can definitely smell it, but the taste isn't overly strong. I'd say super similar to Mr Pickles. Prosciutto Sandwich ($13/4*) This was an all-cold traditional sandwich. I took a couple of bites there to see how it was fresh from the counter, and I ate the rest the next day at work. I gotta say I liked it better the next day as all the flavors melded more together. Even tho the veggies get a bit mushier, I've always liked a well dressed salad sensation in sandwiches, kinda like a Muffeletta sandwich where it is refrigerated overnight, meant to be eaten the next day. Their prosciutto isn't the old school imported version, or at least I've never had one quite like it. I'm assuming a domestic version, even seemed more like cappicola to me as I sensed a tinge of fennel up in there. So pretty satisfied with my first visit. I'll definitely get sandwiches here again for work or day trip lunches. Pretty much on the same level as Togo's or Mr. Pickles, but just more local. With sandwich names as The Quarry Lakes, The Decoto and The Dumbarton, just pulls on my local lovin' heartstrings. Props.

The sandwiches were also excellent and I was so grateful for the employees' flexibility in making a custom sandwich for my picky kids. I love being able to add avocado and love that vegan mayo is an option. The sandwiches were perfect, the tofu is fried and mixed with fried starchy bits that were SO good, the veggies are plentiful and have a great freshly prepared taste, and the balance between ingredients and flavors is just right. They also had some specials available that looked great. The shop is tiny but full of warmth. Everyone was so welcoming, eagerly gave recommendations, and made ordering sandwiches a pleasant and refreshing experience. And there's a nice park and plaza area across the street where you can enjoy your food so the lack of indoor seating (there is a little bench which I'm sure you could use if needed) isn't a problem at all

However, when I got home I immediately noticed the color and thought they had mistakenly used roast beef. I looked at some of the other reviews and their doordash image and I'm confused on what I got. Made to order Halal burger and chicken place in Hayward. They are located near my kids Saturday…read morelanguage school and we came after to check it out. They were short staffed that day and the owner was one man show. Really nice hardworking guy but the reason for the overall rating was I called ahead so my hungry kids wouldn't wait too long and it still took 40 minutes from when I called to our food being ready. The chicken thigh was also raw near the bone though I clearly heard the deep fryer timer starting and going off and feels like it needed 2-3 minutes. Original 804: Fresh Beef Patty, American Cheese, Caramelized Onions, Finished 804 Way. Tasted good, my kids said "better than Mcdonalds" and that's great because they love McDonalds. Chapli: Beef Patty mixed with traditional house blend spices, Tamarind Onions, Tomato, 804 Mint Chutney Sauce. Distinct unique taste, worth trying but we liked the more traditional burgers better. The Melt: Fresh Beef Patty, American Cheese. On a reverse toasted bun, the kids loved the size at this one looked. The kids loved this and totally destroyed every bite. Fried Chicken: The leg was OK but the thigh was raw in the middle. Stayed super, super hot and I liked the crispy skin and simplicity, unfortunate it was undercooked.
