I'd been out of the country for awhile and was looking forward to a good ol juicy burger! I remembered seeing this place before, so a friend and I headed over to eat and catch up a bit. I didn't get much of a chance to interact with the staff this time since we ordered at a kiosk and my husband picked up the food--but even so, service was impressively fast for a sit-down spot. This time, I ordered the Santa Barbara Cobb Salad. Unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing. The lettuce was slightly wilted, and the salad lacked the variety of ingredients I expected. It was mostly lettuce, chicken, and bacon. I only saw about three small tomato pieces and a couple of blue cheese crumbles. There was some egg, but not much of it. The flavor was still good, and maybe I ordered a little late in the day--but for the price, I expected a bit more. I also tried the Tempura Avocado. We came to try out their new chicken club and it was delicious! It was loaded with fresh tomatoes and lettuce however the price point seemed really high for the amount of food you get. If it weren't for a deal, I don't think I would have ventured to try this item. I also ordered a serving of onion rings which were super crispy and stayed crispy throughout the afternoon. The portion size was fair for the price point. They also have some interesting drinks like strawberry limeade, hibiscus water, and teas. We didn't partake in any beverages this time around but on a hot day, they do look refreshing! We chose to take out but the restaurant is really nice inside. There were plenty of tables and chairs the place looked relatively well kept. Before you sit down or take off, make a visit to their sauce and toppings bar to grab some ketchup, jalapeños, chili peppers, limes, or pepperoncinis. They're on the house and can add a kick to your meal! Overall, I'd prefer to stick to their burgers but regardless, every visit has been an enjoyable experience so far. I don't get why people are hella upset at a chain restaurant. I mean there are some shortcomings but you understand that service workers require respect also. Super solid burger spot. The charburger of course is my go-to. There's nothing to say besides that it's just a good burger. Their fries are tasty too. The Original Charburger meal I got costed about $12 (comes with fries and a drink). Kind of expensive for fast food but still doable. Makes me very full each time too. The Habit Burger Grill takes over a portion of the late Fuddruckers Restaurant. Today, this location was giving free char burgers, fries, and a drink of choice to the first 200 people in attendance. When I arrived befor the 5pm (4:30pm) start time, there were no more than seven people in front of me. I did stand in line, patiently waiting for the burger promo. Once the clock hit 5pm, a staff member greeted the people in line and distributed a voucher for the free meal. For this event was nicely staffed and service was excellent! As for the meal, it was very good! The beef patty was nicely charred, combined with shredded lettuce, pickles, slice of cheddar cheese, mayo, all in between toasted sesame seed bun. The fries were a golden brown and crispy. For my drink, I got there fresh made tropical tea. That was very refreshing on this hot day. I'm glad that there's a location within walking distance from where I reside. I'll be back for sure for their tasty tri tip sandwiches! read more

So, I've been to a few Habit's already. This is one of their newer ones, probably less than a year old, which took over the old Fuddrucker's spot. Been in twice lately as I often shop in the area. Tried all new things for me, as in the past, I basically just stuck to their basic burger and fries. Here are some notes. Portobella Char ($8ish/3*) This sounded great in print for me. Sauteed portobella mushrooms and onions with a garlic aioli. But in reality, a bit too rich/oily for me. You see the mushrooms and onions are oily, burger...greasy by default (not hating cuz I crave it from time to time), and the aioli also made mostly of oil. JUST too much for me, and I've had similiar combos before from sit-down joints where it translated better. Not repeat worthy for me. Santa Barbara Char ($8ish/4.5*) For the fast food level, this is pretty damn solid. First the burger patty is actually seasoned and tasty. The bread is toasty and buttery sliced sourdough. Not a ton of sourdough flavor but the texture is nice. Then REAL avocado, not some fast food mashed stuff from a factory 500 miles away. Well coulda been but at least it tasted pretty natural, so props on their choice. For under $10, you'd be hard pressed in finding something like this, in this class of service. Crispy Chicken Bites ($5ish for a 5 piece portion/3*) First the good, it is pretty much all white meat and quite a meaty bite. Exterior is like any other processed nugget, but this had a more pronounced garlic powder flavor. Not great, but definitely not bad. Tempura Fried Green Beans ($4ish/3*) Again sounded great on paper and what fast food place would even try to rock these?! I suppose I liked the first bite or so, but after that, it just got tiresome. Maybe cuz it arrived not so hot to begin with, and just got cold within the 3rd fry. Actually I do have point out that temperature was an issue for me here. I ate inside both times and received a buzzer for my wait. You'd think that they were making it to order, but everytime I got my food, it was barely warm and quite cold within a few minutes. May be nit-picky for a fast food joint, but it overall affected both my experiences. Sweet Potato Fries ($4ish/3.5*) Pretty good sweet potato flavor and somewhat crisp exterior. But again after my 3rd fry, cold as heck. I still ate all of these, cuz I like these enough. Service usually okay, if not all business, little smiles. They do have a unique self serve pepper bar that has pepperocini, jalapenos and some yellow wax pepper. Again, what fast food place will offer that in that format?! So mixed bag for me, I'm sure I'll still return at some point, but let's just say there ain't no habit being formed here at the moment. read more

We ordered the Terriyaki Char, the Santa Barbara Char and the BBQ Bacon Char, onion rings and an oreo milkshake. This location has quite a bit of seating and shares the parking with Union Landing, which is sort of a maze.
