First time visitor to Hacienda, and right away I could tell that when it's warmer, this place will be hopping! We definitely will come back to experience the expansive outdoor patio. We both enjoyed our entrees: crispy fish tacos and veg quesadillas. My tacos came with VERY good street corn in a cute corn shell. Let me be clear: if you have sworn off esquites bc sometimes it has too much mayo, not enough flavor, try it at Hacienda! Also worth mentioning is Hacienda's unique, pureed salsa with good chipotle flavor. Warm tortilla chips are always appreciated! See you this summer!! read more

Hacienda has the best patio in town. Unfortunately, the weather currently isn't favorable for it. They do a really good job of accommodating groups and service was better than average. I love that they have vegan choices like the Impossible brand meat. I enjoyed an impossible wet burrito that was better than average and so big I had enough to take home. read more

And the vibes in the place were amazing. What really caught my eye on the menu? The wings. Not what you'd expect to steal the show at a Mexican joint--but I had to try them. Our bartender gave them a glowing endorsement, and she wasn't wrong. One bite in and I was immediately reminded of Schnucks wings in their prime--if you know, you know. Crispy, flavorful, and coated in a sauce that hits just right. Now, I'm not saying these wings are making it into my Hall of Fame, but they're definitely a sleeper pick. Hacienda is a well-known Tex Mex restaurant in the West County STL area that's been around for quite a few decades. Some love it, some hate it. My Mom used to go here with my Dad in the 90's and we hadn't been back since, so I took my Mom to lunch here. The atmosphere is alright. The inside is pretty old and traditional, but they do have a nice patio. It is located right off of Manchester Road, so it isn't the quietest, but I still prefer it to the interior. Our server wasn't the most personable but she did return my headphones when I left them at the table, so she was okay. Honestly, this isn't the most authentic Mexican food in the area, but it's pretty good for what you get. The Strawberry Margaritas are really, really good. We started with the Flautas, which were delicious. A bit too greasy, but they were so crispy and the spicy sour cream was a perfect touch. Our entrees were decent too. My Mom got the Taco Salad, and I got a Chile Relleno. My Chile Relleno was really cheesy, and the Taco Salad was just how my Mom remembered. Went to Hacienda for a Friday happy hour on the patio as the weather was fantastic. Something to note, happy hour pricing is only good at the bar, not available on the patio...Our waiter was wonderful and attentive and we started with four of us and ended up with just under 15...the drinks were good, chips and salsa good, the food coming out was fine, but they ran out of several different beers/liquors and were running low on tequila (???). We used to come to Hacienda all the time and it had been a bit, but things don't seem as awesome as they used to be...still a decent restaurant though! (Just found this in my drafts-I started it in April) Great visit to the St Louis staple, Hacienda. I wish it had been nice enough to sit outside, it looks like a great place to enjoy an evening. My sister and I wanted to sit outside and enjoy the nice Saturday afternoon 2 weeks ago. I could tell as soon as I walked in that they were in stress mode. Kids running back and forth, no one at hostess Stand. I heard someone say there was no busser and no food runner: A guy sat us at a table and within 5 min there were 8 or so people in line waiting for a table. In comes Adam, he hopped up to our table with a smile and told us he'd just arrived at work and jumped into total chaos. He was clearly a little overwhelmed: we sympathized and ordered our food. He was an absolute doll from start to finish. Those poor kids were running and sweating and working their butts off. It was amazing. No lazy employees there. We had a really good meal and our service was outstanding. I hope the manager got some good feedback about how his employees handled a really tough work situation. read more

I have not been here in a while and in general I was disappointed. Although we were seated quickly it took a while for a server to acknowledge us and bring us chips and salsa. There were three of us so we decided to share a pitcher of too shelf margaritas. Our server brought the pitcher to the table with three cups. After pouring 1 each there was barely anything left in the pitcher. For $42 we probably could have just ordered 3 grande margaritas. I chose the birria tacos. Very good except the elote was chewy and cold. My friends had fajitas and they did not come out sizzling as expected. They were hot enough but just meh. The patio is beautiful. Changing my rating from a 4 down to a 3. My son really wanted a burrito melt but we didn't feel like dining in so I ordered out. I like that they have a dedicated spot for takeout but only 1 spot. I'm happy no one else was ordering out. The sign says to call for your order so I did. Phone looped a few before I could get to someone so that was annoying but whatever. I did a spot check and everything seemed to be ok once my food came to me. Once I got home, a few things were out of place. I ordered tacos with no tomatoes for one of my picky eaters and of course tomatoes were on the tacos. The burrito melts lacked cheese on top. Chips taste a bit stale and I ordered Chile con Queso but received queso Blanco. The wet burritos were ok. Side of Beans were cold but the churro's were good but cold and tiny. I don't live far so I'm not sure why the food wasn't warm. Staff is always friendly but the food quality just isn't the same. While this used to be my favorite Mexican resturant, I'd say it's worth a try for anyone new because the margarita are good. Maybe just come during happy hour though. A perfect late summer night and the patio is perfect. We started with the top shelf margaritas (the salt ring is a little lacking) which are delicious. I had the fish tacos which are delicious. There is now a play area if you have Littles. Our service was great, Diego was very attentive and personal. The food all came out hot and correct. The restaurant closes at 8p (Sun-Thu), but they let us hang out at our table after this time. Our waitress was very good and we had a great time here. Great menu options and reasonably priced. The food was tasty. The service was slow , but the servers were friendly and helpful The rest of the guests at the restaurant were happy and talking loudly and laughing there were no children. I would recommend a larger serving of sour cream to go with my quesadilla, my guest had a burrito and extra refried beans. Both were very tasty. The set up was great with casual picnic style tables that we could easily watch our kids play while enjoying snacks and a margarita. I haven't been here in YEARS. My disability support group selected it for our quarterly meeting, though, and I was like, yeah, who could say no to Mexican food? We got there a little before six and had a spot on the patio, the bug zappers were on and I think a couple fans, so no bug issues. Unfortunately, others had to cancell, so it ended up being 2 of us, but we take what we can get with all of our medical issues. The chips and salsa were there immediately, light and crispy chips, smooth salsa with a little heat for the dip, not what I'm used to for salsa but it was tasty. We ordered the queso dip and a couple of drinks off the Happy Hour menu. My friend said her white wine tasted a bit "off" and switched to something else for her next drink. My beer was as expected. The queso did take awhile to come out. That was perfect for us, because we were catching up on everything since last quarter. I got the street tacos, with barbacoa beef, topped with cilantro and onion (the server did double check with me on the cilantro... I LOVE IT and wished more places had it). The meat was really tender, and it had a good portion. I had worried, since some other reviews showed some paltry protein portions. The elote was nothing to write home about, or the rice. I brought them home, and will throw them onto a burrito or something to use up. My friend had a chimichanga with ground beef and topped with queso and said it was pretty good. Our server was wonderful, she knew we were catching up and tried not to interrupt us too much. Sorry that I forgot her name. The bussers, and the SAs who helped bring out our food, were also great. They kept our table clean so we never felt crowded, grabbed us more water, and were just super friendly and professional. When I was a kid, I really did not think the food at Hacienda was that good. Casa Gallardo was better, the location was nice because it was close to the house but nothing impressive. Fast-forward 30 years or so, now we have kids. They built this bad ass playground. Everything I've had has been solid. Is it the greatest Mexican food I've ever had in my life? No, but it's outrageously solid. And the servers are friendly, the location for us is great. It's so close. The margaritas are baller. I came here with friends to check out their patio, which was lovely with string lights on a warm summer night. Service was mediocre and they forgot black beans in 2 entrees, and put the wrong protein in another entree. I had the enchilada and burrito with rice and beans The enchilada was pretty basic but didn't have much sauce. My favorite was the chips and salsa which were addictingly delicious. My other companions had the cilantro line bowl with shrimp (is this supposed to be served cold... ???it was very unexpected) and the chicken enchiladas (way too much cheese). They were not impressed with their dishes... my quesadilla was good the guac was good and so were the chips and salsa. I was really excited to go here. It was a Tuesday evening around 6pm when we arrived. The parking lot was packed and I had a sinking feeling as I walked in and saw large parties of people spread out throughout the restaurant. Behind the host stand was a room that had a party of 25 at a table that was occupying the center of the room. All of the booths that lined the room were empty. We asked for a booth and the host told us it would be about 20 minutes, but suggested we could get service at a high top in the bar area now. We opted to go to the bar, sat down and after being ignored for 10 minutes by the two servers working the room we left. Reflecting on the experience I think we made the right call. This place seems to draw large groups which often leads to harried staff trying to keep up. My suggestion is for management to ask the folks at Vallarta's in Wildwood how to provide excellent service to everyone when the restaurant is slammed with patrons. read more

Growing up, my family used to come here all the time. I moved away and hadn't been back for a few years--so I decided to stop by. The chimichanga I ordered was served absolutely naked--no sauce, no cheese, no guacamole, although there was a scoop of sour cream on the side. I've never seen anything like it before, including when I used to order the same thing at this restaurant. The inside of the chimichanga was ground beef instead of shredded beef. The corn pudding-type side was dry instead of moist. We were seated inside, and the carpet had clearly seen better days. It looked decades old and poorly cared for. Our wait time was longer than expected so I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. We got there at 10 but was told they decided to push their open time back to 11 because they weren't getting the traffic. The chips were crispy and the salsa was flavorful. The lunch special chicken fajita came out sizzling! Plenty of food and enough to take home. The fajitas were also served with all the fixings: sour cream, lettuce, tomato, cheese. The skinny margarita tasted good, but I would go with regular next time. I've been a customer for years. Today multiple live roaches crawling on the wall of our booth. After paying 50 dollars for lunch , I'm grossed out. Our waitress did not care . It's just okay, the building is nice/clean, reasonable pricing, servers we're polite but it definitely will not be my go to Mexican restaurant. Let's start with the salsa, I love salsa. So when it comes to the table with no chunks of onion, tomatoes, jalapeños and cilantro I'm already turned off by the experience. Looked like tomatoes juice that had a bit of spice. Give me fresh and chunky! Second, if you get a flavored margarita just get lime the just as syrup in the lime so peach wasn't even in existence ‍. The cilantro bowl was uneventful i expected beautiful sliced chicken breast on top and hot. The chicken was not even warm, slacked on black beans and corn. The rice taste more like white rice throw on shredded iceberg. My boyfriend got a taco, tamale and an beef enchilada the Queso sauce comes on the side... nothing really stood out on his place as I tasted it. This is definitely, in my opinion, a more Tex-Mex for me, for a quick stop it wasn't horrible but I won't be back. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. The only thing positive about my experience was the patio and play area. My server Alyssa was good but clearly had too many tables to help us. This was not my first time here, but on this occasion the food was dry, rubbery and has cleat been microwaved. The beef in my enchilada was in chunks like meatballs and I literally had to cut out tacos tacos with a knife to eat. I'm very disappointed in the overall quality here and it will be a long pause before I return if at all. read more

Barbacoa street taco was pretty awful, no flavor, big chunks of beef and not shredded like barbacoa usually is, and queso blanco was worse than packaged ones from Schnucks and came out with they nice layer queso gets after sitting far too long. Outdoor area and play area for the kids gets a 5, although the play area should have a swing gate to the parking lot, it's open. read more
